In the latest episode of the Release Notes web series, YouTube Creator Liaison Rene Ritchie discussed several improvements that have streamlined the podcast listening experience on YouTube Music.
The first episode of Release Notes featured a conversation between Ritchie and Johanna Voolich, and YouTube’s Chief Product Officer returned for the latest installment as well. The two execs discussed their personal listening habits (Voolich is a big Bailey Sarian fan), fielded questions from creators like Emily D. Baker, and revealed plans that will serve podcasters and their fans. “We want YouTube Music to be that one-stop shop for all of your listening,” Voolich said.

In the first episode of Depp V Heard, they showcased the famous 2022 trial clips from Johnny Depp’s defamation case against his ex-wife. A lot of damaging information about Amber Heard’s life was brought to light through the evidence presented by Depp in court. This led to a significant decline in her public image and subjected her to mockery and harassment by both the general public and social media content creators, making her life extremely difficult.
The Netflix docu-series, Depp V Heard, not only made the trial accessible to viewers but also made the bold decision to bring attention to the distressing issue of an individual’s personal life becoming a target for harassment. Additionally, Depp V Heard highlighted the ongoing struggle between public perception and trust. Because, even after the result of the trial and despite the series’ efforts, the truth remained elusive.

For the second time this year, YouTube has introduced a new set of qualifications for its Partner Program. After bringing ads to YouTube Shorts on February 1, the leading video is now catering to live-streaming creators who rack up thousands of hours of watch time.
Since debuting the Partner Program in 2007, YouTube has tinkered with its eligibility requirements on several occasions. Long-form video creators previously gained access to the Program by accruing 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of public watch time over a 12-month period. When Shorts ads arrived in February, YouTube slackened its Partner Program parameters. Creators who haven’t received 4,000 hours of yearly watch time can still qualify for revenue sharing if their Shorts have received 10 million views over 90 days.
The latest set of Partner Program terms cater to a third class of YouTube creators. In a post announcing the changes, YouTube highlighted live-streaming stars like Emily D. Baker, who earn...

Danny Masterson, former star of the long-running sitcom “That ’70s Show”, is about to face three women in court who say he raped them two decades ago at a trial whose key figures are all current or former members of the Church of Scientology.
Opening statements could begin as early as Tuesday in the Los Angeles trial of the 46-year-old Masterson, and while a judge has expressed her determination not to have the church become the center of the proceedings, it will inevitably loom large.
Masterson is charged with raping the women between 2001 and 2003 in his home, which functioned as a social hub when he was at the height of his fame. Masterson has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
One of the women had been Masterson’s longtime girlfriend. Another was a longtime friend, and the third a newer acquaintance.

Five years after the watershed #MeToo movement and two-and-a-half years since Harvey Weinstein was convicted of criminal sexual assault by a New York jury, the disgraced movie mogul is back in court, this time in Los Angeles, where a jury is expected to hear from a far more broad spectrum of accusers – and possibly Weinstein himself.
Weinstein arrived in court Monday by wheelchair, and showed some difficulty standing up as the jury pool of 67 men and women was introduced in court. Jury selection is expected to give way to opening statements sometime around Oct. 24.
Weinstein is already serving 23 years in a New York prison for criminal first-degree sexual assault and third-degree rape, a conviction he has been granted the right to appeal, arguing that a juror and Judge James Burke was biased against him. Weinstein has maintained his innocence since the beginning, and has spent more than a year in...

As Amber Heard and Johnny Depp both prepare to appeal the verdict in their mudslinging defamation trial, a newly unsealed document dump reignited the frenzy over the highly publicized trial
The mayhem around the six-week trial — which Depp specifically requested be televised — was nearly unprecedented, even when taking into account that people would naturally be interested in two high-profile actors airing out their dirty laundry. Depp had emerged the winner in the court of public opinion even before the verdict came down, with fans stationing themselves outside the Virginia courthouse...
