Thankfully, you have come to the right place for a recommendation of which of his shows to binge-watch this weekend. There's a lot of them, so it's entirely possible that you haven't watched them all.
Since debuting Yellowstone on the Paramount Network in 2018, Sheridan has expanded his television universe quite a bit in the following year, branching out with an extension of the franchise on streaming. Even beyond the Yellowstone series, Sheridan has additional star-studded shows like Lioness and Lawmen: Bass Reeves that are also worthing binge-watching.
But we're narrowing the list down to the four shows that will soon be returning with new seasons (or spinoffs) and can be binge-watch in a weekend. Since Yellowstone's five...

“The Luckiest Man in America” (2025) feels like a time capsule to a world we have left behind. Directed and co-written by Samir Oliveros, it is based on a true story from 1984 when an ice cream truck driver earned a fortune on a television game show. Most of its runtime is devoted to recreating the events from this well-known scandal. It stars Paul Walter Hauser as the said show contestant Michael Larson, while David Strathairn, Shamier Anderson, Walton Goggins, and Patti Harrison round out the remaining central cast. Through their characters, the film critiques the venerated American Dream.

Since 2018, the Yellowstone franchise has been one of the most popular TV franchises. In a few short years, we've seen five seasons of Yellowstone and two spinoffs. One of those spinoffs, 1923, just wrapped up its second season in 2025, and there are even more Yellowstone shows in the works.
At the time of publishing, there's at least three Yellowstone shows officially in development all from series creator Taylor Sheridan, including 1944, The Madison starring Michelle Pfiefer, and the potential spinoff that continues the major Yellowstone arc with Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. 6666, which was ordered years ago, is also in the works, too. So, that makes four Yellowstone shows that could be something in the next few years.
After watching 1883, 1923, and Yellowstone, I ranked the three Yellowstone shows so far from worst to best. Thankfully, it wasn't too challenging. There are definitely tiers to these shows!

Just like its mothership series, 1923 went out with a bang, not a whimper. The Yellowstone prequel managed to draw a major audience for its final episode.
Per Variety, Paramount's internal streaming data has revealed that the 1923 series finale, "A Dream and a Memory," delivered 14 million viewers globally in its first seven days of availability, with a view defined as total watch time divided by run time. That is an increase of 41 percent from the Season 1 finale, "Nothing Left to Lose," which premiered on Paramount+ on Feb. 26, 2023. The average viewership for Season 2 of 1923 also saw an increase of 46 percent compared to Season 1.

The Season 2 finale of 1923 has amassed 14M views in the week since it debuted on Paramount+, per parent company Paramount Global.
That’s the biggest audience ever for the series, marking a 41% versus the Season 1 finale audience of 10M. This caps a successful season of growth for the Yellowstone prequel with Season 2 averaging a 46% increase over the Season 1 audience, according to Paramount.
Paramount Global now defines “viewers” as total watch time divided by run time. Deadline has denoted this metric as “views,” similar to reporting from other streamers like Netflix and Disney+, given that this is an estimation of the individual views, rather than a calculation of how many people were actually watching.
The series was pretty buzzy on social this season as well, delivering eight times the social views of the first season with 163M.

Season two, episode seven — the second-season finale of Paramount+’s 1923 — delivered the answers it needed to, including one that has lingered since the first season of Yellowstone: Who is the grandfather of John Dutton III, played by Kevin Costner? The extended season two finale was brutal and bloody, and not everyone survived. It was also heart-wrenching and, in a way, heartwarming. (Keeping it vague here for those who accidentally start reading this recap before watching the finale.)
The ending leaves the possibility of a third season open, so don’t lose hope that Taylor Sheridan isn’t finished with Spencer’s story. Now, let’s move on to the lengthy recap, which begins by wrapping up Teonna’s storyline for the season.

There have been countless scandals involving game shows over the years. The most famous adaptation of such an event was Robert Redford’s acclaimed Quiz Show, starring Ralph Fiennes and John Turturro. Still, there have been more recent instances, including a bizarre one in 1984 involving a man who figured out how to beat one of the most popular game shows on American television, Press Your Luck. The Luckiest Man in America dramatizes that event with a fantastic cast led by Paul Walter Hauser.
The film tells the story of ice cream truck driver Michael Larson (Paul Walter Hauser), an unemployed ice cream truck driver from Ohio who cons his way onto Press Your Luck. As he begins to win record-breaking prizes, those behind the scenes figure out he may be doing more than just playing the game. As the truth becomes apparent, Michael’s true motivations become evident, revealing a...

I’m pretty sure even Harrison Ford is weirded out over this 1923 Season 2 plotline. Taylor Sheridan’s pulled off some wild storylines before, but this one might just take the cake. Even for a show packed with drama, grit, and old-school Western chaos, this particular twist feels like it belongs in a whole different universe.
Ford has played some rugged, no-nonsense characters in his time, but how does he keep a straight face through this? That’s the real acting masterclass.
Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford in 1923 | Credits: Paramount Network Even Harrison Ford knows Zane’s 1923 recovery makes zero sense Brian Geraghty in 1923 season 2 | Credits: Paramount Network
Pretty sure Harrison Ford is just as baffled as we are about 1923 season 2’s most absurd storyline. And who could blame him? Zane Davis (Brian Geraghty) just walked off a brutal brain surgery like it was a mild headache, and even the show knows how ridiculous that sounds.

Plot: Based on a true story, the film is set in May 1984, when an unemployed ice cream truck driver from Ohio steps onto the game show Press Your Luck, harboring a big secret: the key to endless amounts of money. His winning streak is threatened when the bewildered executives in the control room start to uncover his real motivations.
Review: As someone who has been trying to get on Jeopardy! for a while, I have always been fascinated with the contestants’ backstories who have made their way onto shows watched by millions. While few controversies have compared to the one chronicled in Robert Redford’s Quiz Show, the circumstances surrounding Michael Larson’s then-record-breaking appearance on Press Your Luck is a bizarre chapter in pop culture history. The Luckiest Man in America dramatizes the events of Larson’s run on the popular game show with the great Paul Walter Hauser in another fantastic performance.

Slumdog Millionaire. Quiz Show. There have been some great films made that center around some of the most stranger-than-fiction stories involving game show contestants. The Luckiest Man in America Review
The Luckiest Man in America tells the story of Michael Larson, a man who set a record to become the then-winningest contestant in game show history by memorizing the patterns of the Press Your Luck “Big Board.” Samir Oliveros and Maggie Briggs’s script takes this story that has been told several times in documentary format before and makes a tense, near-real-time thriller out of it — creating an effective, if somewhat shallow genre exercise.

Taylor Sheridan’s 1923 is barreling toward an epic finale.
The second season of the Yellowstone prequel will end with an explosive two-hour finale event — double its usual running time — when it releases Sunday, April 6, on Paramount+
Paramount+ had not confirmed an episode count when announcing the second season of the prequel series. Season one had eight episodes. All season two episodes are written by creator Sheridan and directed by Ben Richardson.
The season two finale, titled “A Dream and a Memory,” follows a killing spree in the penultimate episode. That episode, titled “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters,” carried with it a body count of seven dead characters: One Dutton was tragically shot dead during an unsuspecting encounter; two villains were savagely and deservedly killed, leaving two other heartbreaking deaths in their wake; and the couple helping Alexandra Dutton (Julia Schlaepfer) during her harrowing journey to Montana froze to death, leaving...

It’s fair to say that season 2 of1923 has been nothing short of heartbreaking, frustrating, and intense. It’s also arguably the best season of the Paramount+ series so far, and we can’t take our eyes off it. We’re already five episodes in, and while much has happened to move our story forward, just as much has happened to stall it in place. With the finish line near, you’ll want to be sure and catch the impending fate of the Dutton family in the last episode. So when can you watch?
The 1923 season 2 finale premieres Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 12 a.m. Pt on Paramount+. That is season 2 episode 7, "A Dream and a Memory." This season is one episode shorter than season 1, however the super long run time definitely makes up for it. According to Collider, the last episode comes in at almost two hours! We're in for a long night.

Episode 6 of the second season of 1923 is the most shocking and upsetting so far. Things looked better for several of the characters in Episode 5 (although not everyone), but the latest episode of 1923 — ominously called "The Mountain Teeth of Monsters" — undoes any notions of life taking a more positive swing.
As 1923 has progressed during Season 2, the focus has been on the harshness of man and winter alike. Spring begins to appear in Episode 6, but its arrival brings violence and bloodshed instead of any fresh signs of life. No fewer than seven people die in "The Mountain Teeth of Monsters," and as the death toll mounts, it's hard not to think about just how many more people will die by season's end.
"The Mountain Teeth of Monsters" emphasizes loss and all its components while proving that no one is safe. Here's what happened and who managed to survive.

The popularity of Taylor Sheridan's western dramas is undeniable. Jennifer Carpenter, who has appeared in Yellowstonespinoff 1923 as Marshal Mamie Fossett since Season 2, thinks she has figured out why viewers are drawn to these shows.
"I think that he's reconnecting audiences to what it used to mean to tell stories on the viewer's behalf," Carpenter told Screen Rant. Brian Geraghty returned to 1923 in the fourth episode of Season 2. His character, Zane Davis, was revealed to have survived a severe brain injury sustained during an arrest motivated by racist anti-marriage laws.
In a recent sitdown with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor touched on the importance of the storyline in the TV show and Zane's comeback.

1923Season 2, Episode 4, "Journey the Rivers of Iron," was a turning point for Zane (Brian Geraghty) in more ways than one. After surviving various affronts to his existence, the character had a successful surgery that put him on track to becoming his old self. However, Geraghty said Zane was no longer his old self. Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) targeted him because of his close association with the Duttons but has never taken it personally until now. The actor told TV Insider that things had become personal for Zane after that near-death ordeal, and he would have that mentality in the looming war between the Duttons and Whitfield. "He learned that they did this to him and his family, and now it’s personal," Geraghty said. He added, "Before, it was like, I’m doing my job and I want to protect these people, but now not only do I want to protect them,...

Winter rages on in the fourth episode of 1923's second season, "Journey the Rivers of Iron." After the first three episodes, it's clear nothing will be easy for the Duttons or the people they care about — and episode 4 offers very little in the way of a reprieve.
However, Episode 4 does answer many of the questions and uncertainties presented in previous episodes. Spencer Dutton's (Brandon Sklenar) efforts to get home to Montana and to be reunited with Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer) continue while her latest threat plays itself out. Jacob and Cara Dutton care for Zane Davis (Brian Geraghty) and his family alongside Elizabeth (Michelle Randolph) and Jack Dutton (Darren Mann) as they find themselves at odds. Meanwhile, Donald Whitfield's (Timothy Dalton) machinations continue and reveal just how far he's willing to go to take what he wants.

Editor's note: The below interview contains spoilers for 1923 Season 2 Episode 4.Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone prequel series 1923 has finally returned for its second season, and as the initial episodes reveal, things haven't gotten any easier for the Dutton family. Not only do Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Cara (Helen Mirren) have to navigate the continuing dangers of winter on both their livestock and their livelihoods, but they also have another threat on their hands in the form of ruthless businessman Thomas Whitfield (Timothy Dalton), whom they owe a considerable debt to in the form of the Yellowstone Ranch's back taxes. To top it all off, this week's episode, "Journey the Rivers of Iron," features a major (and dangerous) surgery for Yellowstone foreman Zane Davis (Brian Geraghty), who's been dealing with a debilitating head injury ever since being beaten by police in the Season 1 finale during his arrest for miscegenation.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for 1923 Season 2 Episode 4, “Journey the Rivers of Iron.”] The “Zane Brain Drain” was performed in 1923‘s fourth episode. That was the name Taylor Sheridan and the cast teasingly gave to the brain surgery Brian Geraghty‘s character underwent with only chloroform to put him under, the actor tells TV Insider. The procedure was performed to relieve the brain swelling and blood clot caused by an untreated concussion, the result of the attack from Donald Whitfield’s (Timothy Dalton) men in Season 1. Zane wasn’t out for revenge before he was healed; he could barely walk let alone fight. Now, Geraghty says he’s hellbent on “justice.” 1923 Season 2 Episode 4 debuted on Sunday, March 16, on Paramount+. It showed Zane, his wife Alice (Joy Osmanski), and their two children settling into the Dutton home, where Dr. Miller (Mark Daneri), who treated Elizabeth’s (Michelle Randolph) potential rabies infection, has been sheltering during the blizzard. 1923 has officially welcomed back Zane Davis, the ranch foreman who is played by Brian Geraghty in the Yellowstone prequel series. A dire prognosis was given to Zane last episode when he returned to the Dutton family ranch with a severe brain injury. The local doctor explained they will have to drill a hole into his head, without anesthesia, in order to drain blood from an injury sustained when he was arrested last season because of Montana’s anti-miscegenation law. The racist law in that era, which wasn’t outlawed until 1953, forbid his interracial marriage to wife Alice Chow (played by Joy Osmanski). In a surprisingly hopeful outcome for the Western series, Zane survives the surgery. He is able to walk again on his own two feet to embrace his wife, and tell Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford) he’s ready to seek justice. The second season of 1923 has thrown viewers right into the depths of the Dutton saga. As members of the Dutton family in Montana and far from home alike struggle to find safety and security, others in their sphere of influence engage in similar battles.
Episodes 1 and 2 of 1923's second season, called "The Killing Season" and "The Rapist Is Winter," respectively, presented the dangers faced by everyone in the Dutton's sphere of influence and vicinity. Episode 3, "Wrap Thee in Terror," ventures a bit farther from the wilds of the Dutton ranch but is equally clear with its ominous title what's in store.

1923 Season 2, Episode 3, titled “Whap Thee in Terror,” is a powerful commentary on how outsiders and immigrants are treated in modern society. This issue has remained unchanged for over a century. The episode focuses on Alexandra, Spencer’s wife, who arrives at America’s doorstep only to be poked and prodded at Ellis Island.

The episode, which came out on Sunday, March 2, on Paramount+, revealed that Zane hadn’t received any proper medical attention following the beating he received at the end of Season 1, his wife, Alice (Joy Osmanski) was still imprisoned, and their children were remanded to the state custody. Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford) went into Boseman with Sheriff McDowell (Robert Patrick) to negotiate Zane and Alice’s release and the reunion of their family, ultimately convincing a judge to let the Davis family be remanded to the Dutton’s home on the ranch (Kevin Costner‘s John Dutton arranged the same deal for Piper Perabo‘s Summer in Yellowstone Season 5). Taylor Sheridan crafts stories that unfold in a single hour of ruthless, unforgiving television. Case in point: 1923’s Season 2, Episode 2, titled “The Rapist is Winter,” is as cold as a frigid Montana night. This thrilling and visually evocative episode lingers long after it ends.
The second chapter of 1923‘s sophomore season continues the storylines of Whitfield’s (Timothy Dalton) vision for the Duttons’ land. While driving through snowy roads with Banner Creighton (Jerome Flynn), he spots men strangely gliding down the steep white powder hills.
When they approach, they are Norwegians, and Banner permits them to do what they call “skiing” down the hills. Whitfield asks several questions, including whether children can learn this. He continually tells Banner he needs vision, indicating he wants to make Yellowstone a family vacation spot.

Season 2 of 1923 returns to Montana and the saga of the Duttons with the intensity fans have come to expect from Taylor Sheridan and the Yellowstone world. As winter rages and desperation reigns, it is clear throughout the first two episodes that life and love for the Duttons are destined to be as difficult as ever.
Episode 1, "The Killing Season," had an ominous title, but the second episode of season 2 of 1923 was even more menacing. Called "The Rapist Is Winter," Episode 2 was every bit as harsh and unrelenting as its predecessor, if not more so. Cara Dutton and Elizabeth Stafford try to keep the wolves at bay while Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford) and his traveling companions refuse to back down from the threats winter brings.
1923 is a constant reminder of the massive shifts the United States experienced during the early 20th century. Everyone in 1923 faces the brutality of winter,...
