Emily Alyn Lind plays the lead, Cadence Sinclair, in Prime Video’s new series, We Were Liars. The series is based on E. Lockhart’s 2014 novel of the same name, which received critical acclaim. The teaser trailer of the show just dropped, and from the way it is presented, fans couldn’t help but immediately think of Freeform’s thriller series Pretty Little Liars.

At the beginning, it appears that we are in for a summer vacation show until the mood quickly changes into something much darker. Julie Plec of The Vampire Diaries fame and Carina Adly MacKenzie of The Originals fame serve as the co-showrunners of the show.

Joesph Morgan’s Klaus Mikaelson spoke with his daughter Hope from the afterlife to let her know that he’d finally found peace — which showrunner Brett Matthews told TheWrap was an integral part of bringing the show to a close. Fans might have guessed that Morgan was making a return, after he cryptically teased it on social media, but they likely weren’t expecting the surprise return of Candice King as Caroline Forbes — a character from the original “The Vampire Diaries.”

“I hope that there was a whole bunch of people that actually get to watch it live and be totally surprised,” King told TheWrap. “That was the goal. We’ve been trying to have Caroline Forbes get back into the ‘Legacies’ world for a while now.”

The CW’s “Legacies” came to a close on Thursday night with an emotional series finale. The Super Squad had to deal with the aftermath of their battle with Ken the God.

While the good guys ultimately saved the day once again, Alaric decides that it’s too much to ask any of the students have have to keep saving the world (which is totally fair) and tells them he’s shutting down the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.

Hope, Lizzie and the rest of the crew spend a majority of the episode trying to convince him otherwise — with a little help from surprise guest Caroline Forbes (Candice King). At the end of the episode, Alaric reveals that Caroline will take over as headmistress while he steps away to write the definitive history of the so-called mythological creatures he’s encountered.

For the brains behind The CW’s Legacies, writing Thursday’s series finale (9/8c) was about “specifically bringing this show to a close in as elegant a way as we could,” showrunner Brett Matthews tells TVLine. Any additional Easter eggs for longtime fans of the Vampire Diaries universe (and there are several!) are merely bonuses.

“The finale is definitely Legacies focused, but because this show is tied to that greater universe, it actually touches on every show within the franchise,” Matthews says.

Now, the network has released three photos for Legacies Season 4 Episode 20, aka the series finale.

We see Hope at what looks to be an assembly at the school, spearheaded by Alaric.

Given that it sounds like the battle with Ken plays out on Legacies Season 4 Episode 19, it sounds like the series finale will very much be about the aftermath of it.

The CW has yet to renew or cancel Legacies, and we're growing more anxious about its prospects by the day.

Once upon a time, cancellations were rare on the network, but with the looming sale by Warner Bros. and Paramount, some shows are not making the cut.

More recently, Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow were both canceled, but we had to wait for weeks after their seasons wrapped for the formal decision.

Canceling a show before its season finale is a tough call, and it might make viewers bail on the remaining episodes, so we probably shouldn't expect a definite decision for a few weeks yet.

The network has dropped details about Legacies Season 4 Episode 20 -- the season finale -- and the episode marks Julie Plec's return to the series.

CW alum Luke Mitchell has returned to the network in a series regular role on “Legacies.”

The “Republic of Sarah” and “Blindspot” star will make his debut as a malevolent god named Ken on this week’s episode of the supernatural drama.

His character is looking to unseat 17-year-old Hope (Danielle Rose Russel), his rival for as the world’s most powerful being. Hope is a tribrid, whose unique power derives from the blending of vampire, werewolf and witch bloodlines.

Legacies Season 4 Episode 4 found Hope Mikaelson activating her vampire side to become the Tribrid, the most powerful being in The Vampire Diaries universe.

In one of the most memorable scenes of the series, Hope used her body to create a sword to kill Malivore.

In doing so, she also killed Landon, but there is a glimmer of hope that he will pull through because he made his way to the Other Side to reunite with Ted.

Brett Matthews, the showrunner of the CW drama, confirmed in an interview with TV Guide that Malivore is definitely gone, meaning the show can switch things up and focus on Hope's new journey.

Legacies closed out its third season on Thursday with a pair of unlikely team-ups, the start of a new relationship, and an abrupt ending that probably had a lot of viewers wondering, “Wait, was that really the finale?”

It's unfortunate, but Legacies Season 3 is ending earlier than planned.

With The CW recently announcing that Legacies Season 3 will wrap June 24, it means that Legacies Season 3 Episode 16 will now serve as the season finale.

Twenty episodes were written, but showrunner Brett Matthews is opening up about the temporary finale and how it will be worthwhile.

"Episode 16 ends on a jackhammer of a cliffhanger," he shared with Entertainment Weekly.

"If [the finale] couldn't be episode 20, I'm glad it's episode 16."

It's certainly a surprising decision, but it's clearly so that CW can begin the 2021-22 TV season with shows in October.

The good news is that Legacies Season 4, including the final four episodes of the current season, will premiere Thursday, October 14.

That's not a long wait, but what can fans expect?

"If you're looking at what the sphinx said in the macro, I'd argue it's the question of the first three seasons," Brett explained.

As Legacies executive producer Brett Matthews reminds us, “the friendship between Hope, Josie and Lizzie is very central to the show,” which only made Thursday’s welcome-back episode all the more entertaining. You know, as if the panda costumes weren’t wonderful enough.

To make a long story very short… In the process of rescuing Lizzie from a Midsommar-esque cult led by a witch formerly imprisoned by Malivore, Hope and Josie were forced to share what Matthews calls “hard truths” about one another. “Best friends sometimes have to say some very uncomfortable things to each other,” he says. “How those [truths] land is another story.

That's right, Hope is now starting to pick up on the flaws with this iteration of her boyfriend, and it's all thanks to Wade.

Expanding upon last week’s reveal that Rafael comes from a royal blood line, TVLine has an exclusive sneak peek of tonight’s episode (The CW, 9/8c), which explains that Raf is specifically a descendant of King Arthur. Yep, Legacies Season 3 Episode 1 ended Chad's story in a gruesome manner while also revealing the truth about Rafael's past.

If you watch Legacies online, you know Chad was leaving the Necromancer behind and returning to his old job in the ice cream parlor.

Unfortunately, he was killed before he could even leave the grounds of the school.

Legacies showrunner Brett Matthews chatted with TV Line about the big revelation.

"Death is pretty fluid, but at the same time, it did feel like a tragic end to Chad," he explained of whether Chad could return at some point.

"He's a small character, but he definitely grew on us. I don't know if we'll ever see Chad again, but he's pretty definitely dead at the end of this episode," he confirmed.

Ever since Legacies debuted in 2018, an important part of the mythology was missing.

Caroline Forbes, the mother of twins Lizzie and Josie Saltzman, has been mentioned several times, but viewers have not seen her in the flesh.

It's been frustrating for fans because it has essentially made Caroline look like a bad mother.

If you watch Legacies online, monsters have invaded the Salvatore School, including Lizzie and Josie's crazy uncle Kai.

The series has explained Caroline's absence as her being off trying to find a way to stop the imminent merge between her daughters.

Exclusive: We’ll be seeing more of Ethan in the upcoming season of the CW’s Legacies. Leo Howard, who recurred as the character in Season 2, has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming third season of the drama.

Howard’s Ethan is a student at Mystic Falls High School and son of Sheriff Mac (Bianca Kajlich). He appeared in three episodes in Season 2.

A spinoff of The Originals, Legacies features characters from both series and its predecessor, The Vampire Diaries. The series stars Danielle Rose Russell as 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson, descended from some of the most powerful vampire, werewolf and witch bloodlines. She attends the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, where fellow supernaturals learn to hone their skills.

Schitt’s Creek fans are getting a sentimental parting gift from Pop TV. The network announced Thursday that it will air a behind-the-scenes special for the show immediately after its series finale.

Titled Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt’s Creek Farewell, the special will offer never-before-seen footage from the comedy’s six seasons, including audition tapes, wardrobe fittings, the final table read and more. It will also feature interviews with the cast, creators, journalists and celebrity fans.

The Legacies cast will sing again!

TV Guide is reporting that Legacies Season 2 Episode 19 will be a musical episode of The CW drama, and there's a big twist for fans of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.

The episode in question will be dedicated to the shows that came before the third series in the franchise.

"Episode 19 is our grand musical episode," executive producer Brett Matthews recently told the outlet.

"We try to do a musical a year, and it's a musical that will sort of revisit our legacies — the legacy of the show, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals universe."

No details have been revealed beyond that, so all that's left to do is speculate on what could be about to go down.

Legacies character Alaric was around for some of The Vampire Diaries' biggest most pivotal moments, and knows a lot about what happened in New Orleans with The Originals.

We may be over halfway through Legacies Season 2, but the drama will not be slowing down as we approach the big finish.

Josie Saltzman is finally getting the makeover her portrayer has always wanted.

“I’d been talking about Dark Josie with [Legacies executive producers] Julie Plec and Brett Matthews since I got cast in the role,” Kaylee Bryant told TVLine and other outlets during a recent set visit. Referring back to the time Josie set Penelope on fire, she acknowledged, “Clearly, there was something in this girl that was really dark. I kind of had this image of what Josie going dark would mean to me, and that — mixed in with hair and makeup and wardrobe, plus Julie’s input — culminated into this gothic Katherine Pierce school girl look.

Now that's back in Mystic Falls, he's going to have revenge in mind, but a brand new trailer for Legacies Season 2 Episode 13 teases Dark Josie rising. 

If you watch Legacies online, you know Kai told Josie that breaking the mora miserium would fill her body with darkness, but it would make her strong enough to build a door out of the prison world. 

Josie has been teased with visions of her shadow self, and the official trailer confirms that she is going full Dark Willow on us.

Thursday’s episode of Legacies (The CW, 9/8c) puts Chris Wood through the wringer like never before — but don’t just take our word for it. “I texted Julie Plec after filming and said, ‘This is hands down the worst thing I’ve had to do for any job ever,'” the actor tells TVLine.

There were a lot of things happening on Legacies Season 2 Episode 6 to the point that it felt like some of the storylines were not done justice. 

More happened on "That's Nothing I Had to Remember" than happened on the entire series up until this installment. 

It felt very reminiscent of an episode of The Vampire Diaries at its peak, but I'm not sure that style of storytelling works for Legacies. 

Josie's trip to New Orleans was frustrating. Her thirst to get rid of Hope almost put the character past the point of no return. 

If you watch Legacies online, you know Josie has been flirting with darkness thanks to that pesky professor, but she genuinely considered not restoring to everyone their memories Hope.
