Emily Alyn Lind plays the lead, Cadence Sinclair, in Prime Video’s new series, We Were Liars. The series is based on E. Lockhart’s 2014 novel of the same name, which received critical acclaim. The teaser trailer of the show just dropped, and from the way it is presented, fans couldn’t help but immediately think of Freeform’s thriller series Pretty Little Liars.
At the beginning, it appears that we are in for a summer vacation show until the mood quickly changes into something much darker. Julie Plec of The Vampire Diaries fame and Carina Adly MacKenzie of The Originals fame serve as the co-showrunners of the show.

Prime Video has unveiled the teaser trailer for We Were Liars, the upcoming mystery thriller based on E. Lockhart’s hauntingly addictive best-selling novel.
All eight episodes drop June 18, 2025 — and while the binge model may satisfy the impatient, we’re already mourning the weekly ride this story could have offered.
Set on a sun-drenched private island off the coast of New England, We Were Liars centers on Cadence Sinclair Eastman (Emily Alyn Lind) and her privileged, picture-perfect family, the Sinclairs.
Emily Alyn Lind, Esther McGregor, Joseph Zada, Shubham Maheshwari (Jessie Redmond/Prime)
Every summer, Cadence and her close-knit group of cousins and friends — known as “the Liars” (Not to be confused with the Pretty Little version) — gather on the island, where youthful rebellion meets old-money tradition.
But beneath the shimmering surface of wealth and closeness, something sinister lingers.
After a mysterious accident leaves Cadence with memory gaps and gnawing suspicion,...

The Vampire Diaries spinoff Legacies was canceled after season 4 and since then, quite a bit has come out about the Legacies season 5 canceled story plans. The second Tvd spinoff after The Originals, Legacies was decidedly different in tone and focus. Instead of focusing on adults playing teenagersor just adultsLegacies' cast skewed decidedly younger. The tone was much lighter and campier, with the story revolving around the students of the Salvatore School facing down a multitude of foes in a monster-of-the-week style setup.
Ratings for Legacies continued to drop, however, and in the middle of the Warner Bros.-Discovery merger, the decision was made to cancel it following season 4. Still, that doesn't mean that there weren't already plans for Legacies season 5. Since the show's cancelation, the Tvd universe creator, Julie Plec, and multiple Legacies writers have revealed there were indeed concrete ideas for a Legacies season 5 story arc. The plans...

Scream: The TV Series' abrupt reboot has been addressed by one of the original stars. The show, which premiered on MTV in 2015, did not feature major story or character overlaps with the movies, featuring a new killer with a different mask and a fresh ensemble cast that included Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Carlson Young, and John Karna during the first two seasons. The delayed season 3, which brought back the Ghostface mask and Roger L. Jackson as the iconic killer's voice, featured an entirely different setting and cast of characters, but Scream season 4 never came to fruition.
Willa Fitzgerald recently sat down for an interview with Perri Nemiroff on Collider Ladies Night while promoting her new serial killer thriller Strange Darling. When asked about the fact that she and her co-stars did not return for Scream season 3, which premiered on VH1 in 2019, she revealed that "I kind of still dont know what happened.

Turbo Teen, a forgotten '80s cartoon, merged a boy and his sports car in a bizarre premise. Despite its absurdity, the show tried to capitalize on the '80s obsession with fast cars. An example of 80s weirdness, Turbo Teen was never a hit, but its unique concept still intrigues.
The 1980s were a decade of cool people driving fast cars. Sports cars were one of the definitive signs of '80s excess, and they were all over television and movies. One of the most popular shows of the early part of the decade was Knight Rider, the story of a man with a sentient, talking car. It made David Hasselhoff a household name.
However, for every piece of popular culture, there is always a cheap ripoff. In 1984, an animated children's show ran for thirteen episodes and attempted to combine the elements of Knight Rider into one. Instead of...

The CW’s “Legacies” ended on Thursday with not one, but two very special appearances from beloved characters.
Joesph Morgan’s Klaus Mikaelson spoke with his daughter Hope from the afterlife to let her know that he’d finally found peace — which showrunner Brett Matthews told TheWrap was an integral part of bringing the show to a close. Fans might have guessed that Morgan was making a return, after he cryptically teased it on social media, but they likely weren’t expecting the surprise return of Candice King as Caroline Forbes — a character from the original “The Vampire Diaries.”
“I hope that there was a whole bunch of people that actually get to watch it live and be totally surprised,” King told TheWrap. “That was the goal. We’ve been trying to have Caroline Forbes get back into the ‘Legacies’ world for a while now.”

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from the series finale of the CW’s Legacies.
“Annoyed” is the word Julie Plec used to describe how she’s feeling about the end of The Vampire Diaries franchise on the heels of the Legacies finale airing tonight before sharing a hearty laugh. Legacies was canceled after four seasons by the CW in mid-May as the network prepares for a sale.
Plec, who is the co-creator and executive producer of The Vampire Diaries and the creator of its two spinoffs, The Originals and Legacies, was joined by Legacies showrunner and fellow executive producer Brett Matthews for a chat with Deadline about the end of an era and their plans to expand on the franchise’s legacy someday.

The CW’s “Legacies” came to a close on Thursday night with an emotional series finale. The Super Squad had to deal with the aftermath of their battle with Ken the God.
While the good guys ultimately saved the day once again, Alaric decides that it’s too much to ask any of the students have have to keep saving the world (which is totally fair) and tells them he’s shutting down the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.
Hope, Lizzie and the rest of the crew spend a majority of the episode trying to convince him otherwise — with a little help from surprise guest Caroline Forbes (Candice King). At the end of the episode, Alaric reveals that Caroline will take over as headmistress while he steps away to write the definitive history of the so-called mythological creatures he’s encountered.

For the brains behind The CW’s Legacies, writing Thursday’s series finale (9/8c) was about “specifically bringing this show to a close in as elegant a way as we could,” showrunner Brett Matthews tells TVLine. Any additional Easter eggs for longtime fans of the Vampire Diaries universe (and there are several!) are merely bonuses.
“The finale is definitely Legacies focused, but because this show is tied to that greater universe, it actually touches on every show within the franchise,” Matthews says.

Legacies fans were dealt a huge blow last month...
The CW postponed the final three episodes of Legacies Season 4...
and then the network canceled the series.
It was a shocking turn of events, and all we can do is tune into the beloved supernatural drama when it returns Thursday, June 2.
Now, the network has released three photos for Legacies Season 4 Episode 20, aka the series finale.
We see Hope at what looks to be an assembly at the school, spearheaded by Alaric.
Given that it sounds like the battle with Ken plays out on Legacies Season 4 Episode 19, it sounds like the series finale will very much be about the aftermath of it.
"Hope (Danielle Rose Russell), Lizzie (Jenny Boyd), Mg (Quincy Fouse), Kaleb (Chris Lee), Jed (Ben Levin), Cleo (Omono Okojie) and Alaric (Matthew Davis) reflect on recent events and what comes next for each of them," reads the official description...

The CW has yet to renew or cancel Legacies, and we're growing more anxious about its prospects by the day.
Once upon a time, cancellations were rare on the network, but with the looming sale by Warner Bros. and Paramount, some shows are not making the cut.
More recently, Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow were both canceled, but we had to wait for weeks after their seasons wrapped for the formal decision.
Canceling a show before its season finale is a tough call, and it might make viewers bail on the remaining episodes, so we probably shouldn't expect a definite decision for a few weeks yet.
The network has dropped details about Legacies Season 4 Episode 20 -- the season finale -- and the episode marks Julie Plec's return to the series.
Plec was instrumental in bringing the series to life, having worked on both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.

Legacies finally went there.
Legacies Season 4 Episode 4 found Hope Mikaelson activating her vampire side to become the Tribrid, the most powerful being in The Vampire Diaries universe.
In one of the most memorable scenes of the series, Hope used her body to create a sword to kill Malivore.
In doing so, she also killed Landon, but there is a glimmer of hope that he will pull through because he made his way to the Other Side to reunite with Ted.
Brett Matthews, the showrunner of the CW drama, confirmed in an interview with TV Guide that Malivore is definitely gone, meaning the show can switch things up and focus on Hope's new journey.
Sadly, the showrunner also revealed that Landon is truly dead, but he could still be a part of the show.

It's unfortunate, but Legacies Season 3 is ending earlier than planned.
With The CW recently announcing that Legacies Season 3 will wrap June 24, it means that Legacies Season 3 Episode 16 will now serve as the season finale.
Twenty episodes were written, but showrunner Brett Matthews is opening up about the temporary finale and how it will be worthwhile.
"Episode 16 ends on a jackhammer of a cliffhanger," he shared with Entertainment Weekly.
"If [the finale] couldn't be episode 20, I'm glad it's episode 16."
It's certainly a surprising decision, but it's clearly so that CW can begin the 2021-22 TV season with shows in October.
The good news is that Legacies Season 4, including the final four episodes of the current season, will premiere Thursday, October 14.
That's not a long wait, but what can fans expect?
"If you're looking at what the sphinx said in the macro, I'd argue it's the question of the first three seasons," Brett explained.

The good news is that Legacies Season 4, including the final four episodes of the current season, will premiere Thursday, October 14.
That's not a long wait, but what can fans expect?
"If you're looking at what the sphinx said in the macro, I'd argue it's the question of the first three seasons," Brett explained.

As Legacies executive producer Brett Matthews reminds us, “the friendship between Hope, Josie and Lizzie is very central to the show,” which only made Thursday’s welcome-back episode all the more entertaining. You know, as if the panda costumes weren’t wonderful enough.
To make a long story very short… In the process of rescuing Lizzie from a Midsommar-esque cult led by a witch formerly imprisoned by Malivore, Hope and Josie were forced to share what Matthews calls “hard truths” about one another. “Best friends sometimes have to say some very uncomfortable things to each other,” he says. “How those [truths] land is another story.

Hope Mikaelson is on a mission on Legacies Season 3 Episode 12.
Her aim?
Find out who this faux version of Landon is.
That's right, Hope is now starting to pick up on the flaws with this iteration of her boyfriend, and it's all thanks to Wade.
The CW has unveiled the first promo for "I Was Made to Love You," airing Thursday at 9/8c, and it looks like another big episode.
Landon is not even trying to hide the fact that he's changed, and it's going to cause even more problems down the line.
Hope will find herself with a lot to ponder as she tries to get the answers she needs, but this version of her boyfriend could pose a much bigger threat to the school than anyone realizes.
It could be Clarke, the Necromancer, Malivore, or even some other force that we've yet to encounter.
As is always the case with Legacies,...

What will become of Josie Saltzman?
Legacies Season 3 Episode 3 found the character struggling with how much she had changed since her turn as Dark Josie.
But she tried to put all of it aside to play Elena Gilbert in the school musical.
Ultimately, she was left to ponder her future at the school, but she got one last meeting with Jade.
Jade returned to the school after spending years in a prison world.
Josie and Jade shared a romantic kiss after Jade said she was leaving the school because she didn't feel like she belonged there.
In a new interview with TV Line, Kaylee Bryant opened up about the romantic moment and how Josie could make some changes in her life going forward.

The Vampire Diaries will return in less than a week... with a huge twist.
As previously reported, Legacies Season 3 Episode 3, titled "Salvatore: The Musical," find the Legacies characters playing characters from the series that kickstarted the franchise.
The CW unveiled photos earlier this week, and now they've dropped an official trailer, which shows off characters such as Damon, Elena, and Stefan.
Chris Lee, who plays Kaleb/Damon on this special episode, gets to show off his singing voice again, and if the trailer is any indication, he's going to steal the show.
Lee is a recording artist, so it will be fun to see what he brings to this musical iteration of Damon Salvator in the actual episode.
Jed is playing Stefan, while Josie is playing Elena, and Lizzie is playing her mother, Caroline.

Hope Mikaelson may come from a long line of witches, werewolves and vampires, but as we’re discovering in Legacies‘ third season, she’s got nothing on Rafael’s legendary lineage.
Expanding upon last week’s reveal that Rafael comes from a royal blood line, TVLine has an exclusive sneak peek of tonight’s episode (The CW, 9/8c), which explains that Raf is specifically a descendant of King Arthur. Sure, the fact that Rafael was able to remove Excalibur from its stone in the premiere was a pretty big clue, but it’s nice to get an official confirmation.

Legacies is back, and the season premiere left us with more questions than answers.
Yep, Legacies Season 3 Episode 1 ended Chad's story in a gruesome manner while also revealing the truth about Rafael's past.
If you watch Legacies online, you know Chad was leaving the Necromancer behind and returning to his old job in the ice cream parlor.
Unfortunately, he was killed before he could even leave the grounds of the school.
Legacies showrunner Brett Matthews chatted with TV Line about the big revelation.
"Death is pretty fluid, but at the same time, it did feel like a tragic end to Chad," he explained of whether Chad could return at some point.
"He's a small character, but he definitely grew on us. I don't know if we'll ever see Chad again, but he's pretty definitely dead at the end of this episode," he confirmed.
"His impact on the Necromancer will be felt moving forward.

Ever since Legacies debuted in 2018, an important part of the mythology was missing.
Caroline Forbes, the mother of twins Lizzie and Josie Saltzman, has been mentioned several times, but viewers have not seen her in the flesh.
It's been frustrating for fans because it has essentially made Caroline look like a bad mother.
If you watch Legacies online, monsters have invaded the Salvatore School, including Lizzie and Josie's crazy uncle Kai.
The series has explained Caroline's absence as her being off trying to find a way to stop the imminent merge between her daughters.
In a new interview, TV Line asked Legacies showrunner Brett Matthews about a return for Caroline, played by Candice King, but it seems it will all come down to whether the actress wants to do it.
"Our answer is still the same, and you’re probably sick of hearing it, but the door is always open to Candice,...

For the second time in a row, Legacies kicked off a new season with Hope out of commission, leaving her classmates to scramble like headless chickens — angsty, magical headless chickens.
With the threat of Wednesday Addams Dark Josie finally behind them, the students of the Salvatore School attempted to piece together their fractured community on Thursday with some good ol’ fashioned physical fitness. (Seriously, why did Alaric think that a field day would solve anything? These kids were better off when fake Professor Vardemus was in charge.)

An upcoming episode of Legacies is set to pay homage to the shows that came before it.
The CW has scheduled Legacies Season 3 Episode 3, titled "Salvatore: The Musical," an episode that was set to air as one of the final episodes of Legacies Season 2.
But, as you know, the episodes have been tacked on to Legacies Season 3 due to the Covid-19 pandemic shuttering production for months.
Last year, Legacies executive producer, Brett Matthews, revealed news of the musical in an interview with TV Guide.
"Episode 19 is our grand musical episode," Mathews told TV Guide at the time.
"We try to do a musical a year, and it's a musical that will sort of revisit our legacies -- the legacy of the show, The Vampire Diaries, and The Originals."
It is set to air on February 4th.

The Legacies cast will sing again!
TV Guide is reporting that Legacies Season 2 Episode 19 will be a musical episode of The CW drama, and there's a big twist for fans of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.
The episode in question will be dedicated to the shows that came before the third series in the franchise.
"Episode 19 is our grand musical episode," executive producer Brett Matthews recently told the outlet.
"We try to do a musical a year, and it's a musical that will sort of revisit our legacies — the legacy of the show, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals universe."
No details have been revealed beyond that, so all that's left to do is speculate on what could be about to go down.
Legacies character Alaric was around for some of The Vampire Diaries' biggest most pivotal moments, and knows a lot about what happened in New Orleans with The Originals.

Legacies, the third series in The Vampire Diaries universe, is currently airing its second season on The CW.
While it inherited the crazy twists The Vampire Diaries and The Originals were well-known for, Legacies has yet to kill off any notable characters, something that is causing a wealth of problems in the narrative.
On a show filled with supernatural creatures battling the fine line between good and evil, it's surprising we're almost 30 episodes in without some significant risks.
With Chris Wood reprising his The Vampire Diaries role of Kai Parker, it offers the series the opportunity to shake up the world and make people feel like the stakes are genuine and characters are in peril.
If you watch The Vampire Diaries online, you know Kai is famous for ending the Gemini coven, including his sisters, his brother, and his father.

I kind of had this image of what Josie going dark would mean to me, and that — mixed in with hair and makeup and wardrobe, plus Julie’s input — culminated into this gothic Katherine Pierce school girl look.

The truth is out, and that can only mean one thing.
Drama!
There were a lot of things happening on Legacies Season 2 Episode 6 to the point that it felt like some of the storylines were not done justice.
More happened on "That's Nothing I Had to Remember" than happened on the entire series up until this installment.
It felt very reminiscent of an episode of The Vampire Diaries at its peak, but I'm not sure that style of storytelling works for Legacies.
Josie's trip to New Orleans was frustrating. Her thirst to get rid of Hope almost put the character past the point of no return.
If you watch Legacies online, you know Josie has been flirting with darkness thanks to that pesky professor, but she genuinely considered not restoring to everyone their memories Hope.
So, tell me, how is it we've both forgot the same person?
Freya Permalink: So,...

Thursday’s Legacies revealed that someone at the Salvatore School is not who they appear to be — which is saying a lot, considering a good portion of the student body is made up of literal werewolves.
While Lizzie and Hope battled their way through an alternate reality based on the hits of the 1980s (killing a minotaur in the process!), their fellow classmates navigated a different type of battlefield at the Salvatore School’s ’80s decade dance. Most notably, Josie and Landon almost had sex for the first time, though Josie pumped the brakes when she discovered a song Landon...

Exclusive: Chris Lee, who has recurred since the first season of the CW’s Legacies, has been promoted to series regular in season 2. Additionally, Olivia Liang (Murder in the First) has been tapped for a recurring role.
Legacies is a spin-off of The Originals and features characters from both series and its predecessor, The Vampire Diaries. The series stars Danielle Rose Russell as 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson, descended from some of the most powerful vampire, werewolf and witch bloodlines. She attends the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, where fellow supernaturals learn to hone their skills.
Lee plays Kaleb, a rebel vampire who isn’t keen on hiding who he is.
Liang will portray Alyssa Chang, a Salvatore School student witch and infamous instigator of drama among her peers. Snarky, intelligent and egotistical, Alyssa is a main character in her own mind, and never backs down from a challenge or...

As the spinoff of The Vampire Diaries, Legacies has been missing one very important thing since its debut:
Decade dances!
The original series featured several throughout its eight-season run. Heck, no TV show can pull them off quite like The Vampire Diaries can.
If you watch The Vampire Diaries online, you know they were a great source of drama, fashion, and wild plot twists.
Thankfully, Legacies Season 2 Episode 5 will feature one.
Here's the official logline direct from CW:
As the Salvatore School prepares for its upcoming '80s-themed decade dance, Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) and Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) find themselves trapped inside a never-ending labyrinth with a monster on their trail.
