The Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar will star in Gurinder Chadha’s next film, Christmas Karma. It’s due out this December.
News has emerged about Gurinder Chadha’s next project, confirmed to be an adaptation of A Christmas Carol.
Titled Christmas Karma, the film will star Kunal Nayyar as Scrooge. He’ll be joined by an ensemble cast that includes Eva Longoria, Boy George, Billy Porter, Hugh Bonneville, Leo Suter, Charithra Chandran, Pixie Lott, Danny Dyer, Bilal Hasna, Allan Corduner, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Rufus Jones, Eve, and Nitin Ganatra.
We can’t say we expected to see Danny Dyer, Boy George and Billy Porter in the same film, but there we are. We also reported earlier this year that the film’s Scrooge would be an “Indian Tory who hates refugees”.

Exclusive: Sky Studios has denied that it is piloting a Hugh Bonneville comedy about slavery amid a backlash from Black creatives on social media.
The Comcast-owned European studio said Forty Acres depicts Bonneville’s character reflecting on the genesis of his “generational wealth” and is “categorically not a comedy about slavery.”
The working title is, however, a play on a failed Civil War reparations program known as “40 acres and a mule.” Forty acres happens to be the size of the estate owned by Bonneville’s character.
Sky has not formally announced the project, but it was reported on by the British Comedy Guide. The publication initially said the pilot, penned by Wonka and Hijack star Rufus Jones, was about “historic slavery.” The story has since been updated to say Forty Acres is about “Britain’s murky colonial legacy.”

Director Paul King, who will be directing the upcoming fantasy-drama film ‘Wonka’ starring Timothee Chalamet, has praised the actor’s singing voice, though he said that despite some musical sequences, the film is not a musical. “He’s got a beautiful singing voice. Nonetheless, the ‘Paddington’ director also made it his purpose to establish that while the film has songs in it, he doesn’t exactly consider it a musical.

“Wonka” is directed by “Paddington” helmer Paul King and co-stars Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key, Hugh Grant, Sally Hawkins, Matt Lucas, Rowan Atkinson, Natasha Rothwell, Rufus Jones, and Simon Farnaby, who penned the screenplay. Chalamet’s turn marks the first origin story for the beloved novel adaptation,...

Timothée Chalamet transforms into Willy Wonka for a “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” prequel, “Wonka,” and like the chocolate he concocts in this first trailer, it will make you fly.
The first trailer for the musical debuted during 2023 CinemaCon (though it hasn’t been released online yet), presented by Warner Bros. Discovery, and the crowd gobbled it up like a Wonka bar, particularly the reveal of Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa in a jar, dancing and all.
Chalamet called that first look at Grant “a trip,” and he also stressed that this prequel is about “a Willy that’s full of joy and optimism and hopes to become the greatest chocolatier of all time,” not quite like Gene Wilder’s more cynical version of the Roald Dahl character.
Oscar nominee Chalamet leads the origin story produced in part by the Roald Dahl Company. A prequel to the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder,...

World, are you ready for Wonka? Warner Bros. sure hopes so as the studio debuted a new trailer starring Timothée Chalamet as the chocolate aficionado Willy Wonka in the Paul King-directed musical at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday morning.
The trailer, which was for the room only, showed off plenty of mainstays of the Willy Wonka character, including chocolate that makes one float, and a kicker: Hugh Grant as an Oompa-Loompa, which got big laughs from the crowd. Chalamet called working with Grant as a “dream come true.” He added of the Oompa-Loompa character, “it was a trip.”
The whimsical trailer also revealed that Willy Wonka must face off against a chocolate cartel that wants to prevent him from practicing his craft.
The showing came one year after Warners first revealed footage at CinemaCon 2022 of a singing and dancing Chalamet as the title character created by author...

Timothée Chalamet is still tangled up in the Bob Dylan biopic “Going Electric.”
After the film was announced in 2020 with “Ford v. Ferrari” helmer James Mangold directing, “Going Electric” was shelved amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The feature follows musician Dylan (Chalamet) as he skyrockets to fame in the folk music scene.
“I haven’t stopped preparing, which has been one of the greatest gifts for me,” Chalamet said in a Variety cover story. “It’s been a wonderful experience getting to dive into that world, whether we get to make it or not. But without giving anything away — because I don’t want to beat anyone to the punch, and obviously things have to come together officially — the winds that are blowing are blowing in a very positive direction.”
Chalamet revealed in a GQ cover story that he rented a home in Woodstock, New York, to prepare to embody Dylan.

2023 is shaping up to be the year of Timothée Chalamet, with the young actor set to release two of the highest profile films of his career. While many cinephiles are eagerly awaiting the release of “Dune: Part II,” the Oscar nominee is also playing the titular role in “Wonka,” Paul King’s prequel to “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”
The plot of “Wonka” has largely remained a mystery (although Chalamet shared a photo of himself in costume), but we know the film also stars Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Matt Lucas, Rowan Atkinson, Natasha Rothwell, Rufus Jones, and Simon Farnaby.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Keegan-Michael Key offered some new details on the film, revealing that Chalamet performs seven songs in the musical.

In his recent British Vogue profile, Timothée Chalamet noted he has seven musical numbers in the upcoming Wonka, a film he described as “so sincere” and “so joyous.” When THR ran into Chalamet co-star Keegan-Michael Key at the premiere of his Hulu series Reboot, we asked for his take on all of the above.
“He has seven musical numbers and I have two, one of them is a group number and another is a smaller group number,” explained the multihyphenate. “I would agree with all the adjectives Timothée used and I would also like to add the words wondrous and a little bit epic. It’s a nice, big, full, beautiful piece of art and Paul King, who directed it, is a delightful human being who has this wonderful, childlike heart. He was the perfect person to direct the project.”

This weekend we have a holiday and what better way than to fill that extra day with brand new television? Time to catch up, recharge, and maybe watch that new “Theodore Roosevelt” documentary. It’s what America would have wanted. After the break, the new shows keep coming, from a fictionalized account of the Sex Pistols to the return of “The Boys,” to a spinoff of “Nancy Drew” that seems very, very different. It’s almost Too much good TV.

AMC+ and Rlje Films have debuted a new trailer for the darkly comedic drama ‘Silent Night’ featuring Matthew Goode and Keira Knightley.
The film follows parents Nell (Keira Knightley) and Simon (Matthew Goode) who have invited their closest friends to join their family for Christmas dinner at their idyllic home in the English countryside. As the group comes together, it feels like old times – but behind all of the laughter and merriment, something is not quite right. The world outside is facing impending doom, and no amount of gifts, games or Prosecco can make mankind’s imminent destruction go away. Surviving the holidays just got a lot more complicated.
From producers Matthew Vaughn, Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray and directed by Camille Griffin – who makes her directorial debut – the film stars Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Roman Griffin Davis, Annabelle Wallis, Lily-Rose Depp, Ṣọpé Dìrísù, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Lucy Punch, Rufus Jones and Trudie Styler.

The easiest way to make sure your child actors are up to swearing on-screen is casting your own. That’s exactly what first-time feature writer/director Camille Griffin does for her film Silent Night—and it’s with good reason. Art (Roman Griffin Davis) and twins Thomas (Gilby Griffin Davis) and Hardy (Hardy Griffin Davis) have made a pact with their parents (Keira Knightley’s Nell and Matthew Goode’s Simon) to say whatever comes to their mind without fear of punishment or retribution since they’re all going to die anyway. Rather than some hyperbolic, progressively laissez faire parenting tactic, however, this sentiment is fact. Everyone on Earth is literally going to die. Some already have. Some will soon. And Nell, Simon, and the boys will have their turn tomorrow. On Christmas day.

The rooms are dressed with holly and candles. The tree is aglow, with a raft of presents beneath it; the larder is stocked with festive treats. And a group of friends converge on this jubilant scene, after a couple of front-seat arguments about whether the new Christmas #1 single is fun or rubbish.
It’s probably rubbish, but no one wants to be too negative for this Yuletide gathering. It’s not just the warm glow of the season keeping the cynicism at bay, but the glowing stormclouds on the horizon. They’re going to kill everyone in their path with toxic gasses, as has happened over much of the world. This will be Last Christmas for everyone who’s descended on Nell (Keira Knightley) and Simon’s (Matthew Goode) English country home. There will be no chance for anyone to give someone their heart and then they give it away the very next day.

‘Tis the season. Well almost. And perhaps that is why AMC+ and Rlje recently swooped in and took the new holiday-themed dramedy Silent Night off the market (domestically at least) before its Toronto International Film Festival premiere tonight. Who doesn’t love a good ‘ol Christmas movie, perhaps the most reliable genre for feel good feelings?
Well this one certainly is a twist on the tradition as it centers on a gathering of British upper crust family and friends as they settle down for their holiday dinner knowing it is going to be the last dinner of their lives. In “Silent Night,” first-time writer-director Camille Griffin wickedly weaves together holiday-movie and end-of-the-world–movie tropes, but once the shock of that juxtaposition wears off, we’re left with a slightly underboiled pudding, despite a sharp ensemble’s most valiant efforts.
Part “When the Wind Blows” (the grim 1986 animated feature about Brits keeping calm and carrying on in the face of nuclear disaster) and part “Peter’s Friends” (Kenneth Branagh’s 1992 comedy about school chums gathering in a big house for the holidays to drink too much and open old wounds), “Silent Night” assembles a group of family and friends to celebrate Christmas — only at midnight, Santa isn’t coming. Instead, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are scheduled.

AMC Networks’ streaming bundle AMC+ and Rlje Films have picked up the Keira Knightley holiday comedic drama Silent Night which they’ll give a day-and-date release to in theaters and exclusively on AMC+ this December in the U.S. and Canada.
Silent Night follows a group of old friends who – in true British fashion and while the rest of the world faces impending doom – reunite to celebrate Christmas in the comfort of an idyllic country home. Burdened with the inconvenience of mankind’s imminent destruction, they adopt a stiff upper lip, crack open another bottle of Prosecco and continue with their festivities. But no amount of stoicism can replace the courage needed for their last night on Earth.
The pic reps the feature directorial debut of scribe Camille Griffin and also stars Matthew Goode, Roman Griffin Davis, Annabelle Wallis, Lily-Rose Depp, Ṣọpé Dìrísù, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Lucy Punch, Rufus Jones and Trudie Styler among others.
