Jai Courtney Reveals He Recently Chatted With James Gunn About Captain Boomerang's Potential Return
Image
For many comic book fans, Jai Courtney's Boomerang was the best part of 2016's Suicide Squad. Unfortunately, the character met his demise in the opening batlle of 2021's The Suicide Squad.

However, recent footage from Peacemaker season 2 and Superman have revealed that the Dcu seems keen on exploring the concept of pocket dimensions.

Looks like Superman is flying through a pocket dimension here...

Superman Trailer Includes A Creature Commandos Cameo...And A Hint The Batman Is Set In The Dcu?!
Image
James Gunn and Peter Safran have set out to create a new shared world with DC Studios' Dcu, and Superman will both establish and expand the franchise this summer.

We'll meet "The Justice Gang" in the movie, while Peacemaker season 2's trailer already confirmed that Maxwell Lord, Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl will appear in the HBO Max series. So will Rick Flag Sr., a character first introduced in Creature Commandos, whose story continues in Superman before he takes on Christopher Smith.

There's clearly plenty of connectivity in the Dcu, and another example has been unearthed in the latest Superman trailer.

Actor Lawrence Gilligan will play a news anchor in the movie, reprising a role he also took on in animation. Thus far, Gunn is making good on his promise to have actors play the same characters across animated and live-action projects.

Gilligan's character doesn't have a name,...

In the new film, Jobson plays Chloe, a struggling artist and former drug mule who gets pulled into doing one final job: Running drugs across London for an old contact, the elusive Mads. Carrying a holdall of narcotics and an envelope of cash, Chloe boards the last train on the London Underground, only to find herself trapped in a nightmare. Inside NBC Cancellations: Why ‘Brilliant Minds’ and ‘The Hunting Party’ Survived and ‘Suits LA,’ ‘Found’ Didn’t
Image
NBC’s lineup underwent a bloodbath ahead of welcoming back the NBA this fall, when “Found,” “Suits: LA,” “The Irrational,” “Night Court” and “Lopez vs Lopez” were all canceled. While fans of the series lamented the cancellations, a closer look at the ratings explains why freshman shows “Brilliant Minds” and “The Hunting Party” joined the ranks of renewed series while others didn’t make the cut.

NBC’s three “Chicago” series, all of which scored renewals, were the network’s most-watched shows of the season, according to multiplatform live-plus-35-day viewing figures, with “Chicago Fire” averaging 10.36 million viewers, and “Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Med” at 10.05 million and 9.59 million, respectively. Like past years, the “Chicagos” and two “Law & Order” shows were consistent hits, with “Law & Order: Svu” and the original “Law & Order” bringing in 8.92 million and 6.76 million average viewers.

Notably, “Brilliant Minds” and “The Hunting Party” — the only...

‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Teaser Nearly Confirms Insane Dcu Theory That Could Reunite James Gunn and Zack Snyder’s Camps
Image
So… there’s a new Peacemaker in town, and he doesn’t really know who the current Peacemaker is. Or is it the other way around? Well, James Gunn’s Peacemaker will be seen in the second season of the iconic show, but he isn’t the only one.

The first teaser for Peacemaker Season 2 just dropped, and it seems that Gunn has very brilliantly sought a connection between his version of Peacemaker and the Peacemaker from the Dceu. Well, fans are confused and excited at the same time.

The first teaser for James Gunn’s Peacemaker season 2 dropped!

The character of Rick Flag Jr. met his fate during the finale of Peacemaker season 1, which allowed John Cena’s Christopher Smith to continue in the Dcu. The finale also opened doors for crossovers to happen and a connection between the Dceu and the Dcu.

Peacemaker Season 2 May Be Laying The Groundwork For Clayface, Not Any Dcu Multiversal Madness
Image
The first trailer for Peacemaker season 2 kicked off with the "Justice Gang" and ended with the title character pointing a gun at another version of himself. Unsurprisingly, that's quickly led to speculation about the series featuring some type of Multiverse element.

Peacemaker season 2 was in the works before DC Studios was formed, no great surprise when the first season, which spun out of the events of 2021's The Suicide Squad, was a critical and ratings hit on Max.

Many fans have raised questions about how Peacemaker season 2 will fit into the wider Dcu tapestry, especially as some moments from the Dceu remain canon, while the majority of others do not. Complicating matters in the case of Peacemaker is the fact that all of the show's leads will return, played by the same actors, despite nearly everyone else being recast.

Then, there's the not-so-small issue of Christopher Smith coming face-to-face with...

Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer Seemingly Confirms Popular Dcu Theory - Possible Spoilers
Image
DC Studios/Max released the first full trailer for the second season of Peacemaker earlier today, and while cameos from members of Superman's "Justice Gang" arguably got the most attention, the very last shot may have confirmed a potentially game-changing fan-theory that's been doing the rounds since the show entered production.

Possible spoilers follow.

Right at the end of the trailer, we see John Cena's Christopher Smith (this dude really likes to walk around in his tighty whiteys) entering a room, and what appears to be a completely different "variant" of Peacemaker in an alternate costume point a gun to his double's head before asking "who the f*ck" he is.

James Gunn recently clarified some confusing comments he made last year about season 1 of The Suicide Squad spin-off, which he said he didn't view as being canon with the new Dcu despite the upcoming second season being a...

Peacemaker Season 2 Stills Highlight The Returning Cast And Rick Flag Sr.; Michael Rooker Spotted In Trailer
Image
DC Studios released the first trailer for Peacemaker season 2 earlier today (watch it here if you missed it). While the presence of Maxwell Lord, Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl is a huge talking point, the preview featuring not one, but two Peacemakers is another.

We can safely say that there's a Multiversal component at play. However, we'd imagine this has something to do with the pocket dimension we first visited in season 1, rather than being a convoluted way of explaining how Christopher Smith ends up in the Dcu.

Still, we can't discount that, and fans have spotted The Suicide Squad star Michael Rooker in the sneak peek. Is the Guardians of the Galaxy star reprising his role as Savant—the cowardly villain who had his head blown off by Amanda Waller in the 2021 movie—or playing someone else entirely?

We'd guess it's the latter as Rooker is seemingly playing...

That’s right, the man who brought us the helmet-wearing, gun-toting, peace-at-all-costs anti-hero is now facing off against himself?

The trailer is a rollercoaster of action, quips, and mind-bending twists that will have you questioning reality faster than Peacemaker’s character can reload. From the opening shot of the Max Original logo to the final frame where Cena stares down the barrel of a gun held by another Cena in full Peacemaker garb, this trailer is a masterclass in controlled chaos.

Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer: John Cena Faces John Cena In James Gunn’s R-Rated Dcu Show
Image
Christopher Smith and the 11th Street Kids are back! Three years after John Cena's muscle-bound, gun-toting, ultra-violent super-dummy emerged from being shot and buried under a collapsing building in The Suicide Squad to head up a new morally dubious black ops unit in Peacemaker Season 1, James Gunn's r-rated show is readying its return to our screens. And with the Dceu dead and the dawn of the Dcu nigh, the newly released trailer for Season 2 — the first live-action offering from DC Studios — is a real statement of intent from Gunn. Just check out the teaser below to see what we mean;

Hoo boy! This one doesn't fuck about, does it? No sooner has the DC Studios ident dropped than we see Christopher 'Peacemaker' Smith being laughed out of a superhero job interview by Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Green Lantern Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), three Dcu...

Peacemaker spoofs the Dceu and multiverse in first teaser for season 2
Image
James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC Extended Universe is kicking off in style this year. We already knew that Gunn's Superman movie is coming out on July 11. Now we have confirmation that the second season of Peacemaker will follow soon after; it starts streaming on Max on August 21.

The return of Peacemaker is very exciting for fans who enjoyed the first season of the show, which stars John Cena as the dysfunctional antihero Chris Smith, aka Peacemaker. It premiered all the way back in 2022, when Gunn was still working with Marvel on Guardians of the Galaxy and only moonlighting for DC. Now he's one of the people running the show, and he's pulling all the levers to make Peacemaker not only another fun romp, but also an interconnected piece of this new cinematic universe. Check out the first teaser trailer, which dropped today:

John Cena, Vigilante and Eagly Are Back (and Kicking Ass) in ’Peacemaker’ Season 2 Teaser
Image
For DC, this will be the summer of Superman (July 21) — but Clark Kent and Krypto the Superdog got nothing on Chris Smith and Eagly. Ok, so they’ve got like a bunch of better powers, it’s true. The point is, summer 2025 also marks the return of Peacemaker to Max.

On Friday, Max released its teaser for Peacemaker season two. John Cena is back as the low-key nicest antihero (of sorts) in the comic book business; with him are trusty sidekicks Eagly and Vigilante (Freddie Stroma). Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee and Robert Patrick also return for season two. New cast members include Frank Grillo, David Denman, Sol Rodriguez and Tim Meadows.

Cena plays Peacemaker, real name Christopher Smith, who continues to “reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost,” per the show’s logline.

Krypto and David Corenswet Have a Heart-to-Heart in New 'Superman' Image
Image
One of the most anticipated superhero movies of the year just got a thrilling new look. ScreenRant has officially released a new image from Superman, the debut Dcu film from writer/director James Gunn that’s due in theaters on July 11. The new image shows David Corenswet’s Man of Steel standing in the Fortress of Solitude with Krypto and one of the robots who inhabit the fortress and help care for Superman. In the film’s timeline, this image likely comes not long after the recently released sneak peek that played ahead of A Minecraft Movie, which saw Superman return to the Fortress of Solitude to heal. Not that we had any reason to be worried about the Kryptonian hero, but he seems to be feeling much better in the newly-released image.

Collider debuted its own exclusive look at Superman during the Exclusive Movie Preview Event, which also included...

Peacemaker Season 2 First Trailer Features Maxwell Lord, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, And More Of The New Dcu
Image
James Gunn has shared the first trailer for Peacemaker season 2, and it opens with John Cena's former Task Force X member attempting to join the ranks of Maxwell Lord's superhero team (believed to be called the "Justice Gang" based on Superman toy leaks).

Lord is flanked by Green Lantern Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl, neither of whom seems particularly impressed by Peacemaker. We also learn more about Rick Flag Sr.'s plans for the man who murdered his son in The Suicide Squad, though this doesn't look like a typical revenge mission.

There's also a huge surprise at the end of the trailer as we see a second Peacemaker! It seems there will be a Multiversal component to the series, perhaps meaning the Dceu's Christopher Smith travels to the Dcu.

According to a newly released synopsis for Peacemaker season 2, "The new season follows Christopher 'Chris' Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante...

“Peacemaker” - Season 2
"Peacemaker", the live-action 'comedic' superhero TV series, based on the Charlton Comics character, stars John Cena, Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Chris Conrad and Chukwudi Iwuji, streaming Season 2, August 31, 2025 on Max:

"...'The Peacemaker' debuted in Charlton Comics' 'Fightin' 5" #40 (1966), created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette, following 'Christopher Smith', a man who loves peace so much he is willing to fight for it.

"He used an array of special non-lethal weapons, and also founded the 'Pax Institute' to go up against dictators and warlords.

"Smith later learns his peace-through-violence efforts were the result of a serious mental illness brought on by the shame of having a killer father, who was a vicious officer in The Third Reich during the war.

"He believes his father's spirit haunts him continually, criticizing his every move, even as he tries to live down his past.

Christopher Smith at an event for Severance (2006)
Believe it or not, saving the day is often a thankless job. We want to think that bags of cash, a ticker-tape parade, and a key to the city that isn’t chocolate underneath the surface follow in the wake of superheroics. However, more often than not, it’s business as usual with your acts of derring-do as a footnote in someone else’s story. Unfortunately for Christopher Smith and his rag-tag team, they’re about to find out just how hard it is to get the credit they deserve in today’s teaser trailer for Peacemaker Season 2!

Does anyone else feel they’ve aged 1000 years since Peacemaker‘s Season 1 debut in January 2022? After months of teasing the show’s return, our first look at Peacemaker and the 11th Street Kids is finally here, and it’s a hell of a ride. In the Peacemaker Season 2 teaser trailer, Chris blows...

The Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer Reveals A Surprise Appearance From A Green Lantern
Image
The 11th Street Kids are back, baby, and it feels so good. The trailer for season 2 of James Gunn's Max series "Peacemaker" is finally here, and it's great to see the gang back in action after they managed to stop both extraterrestrial body snatchers and a white supremacist supervillain at the end of "Peacemaker" season 1. John Cena's Christopher Smith, A.K.A. the titular Peacemaker, still had plenty to figure out about the world when last we saw him, though he had learned that friendship and his found family could help him become a better man. Now, in season 2, it looks like he's going to have to deal with an entirely different kind of daddy issues when he's confronted by Rick Flag, Sr. (Frank Grillo), the father of Peacemaker's hero Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), who Chris killed during the events of "The Suicide Squad" before his big change of heart.

3 Essential ‘Peacemaker’ Episodes to Watch While You Wait for Season 2
Image
Before James Gunn became the co-chief of DC Studios, he laid the foundations of the DC Universe with 2021’s The Suicide Squad and then Peacemaker. John Cena plays Christopher Smith/Peacemaker in both, getting back into the role for the show as well after the events of Operation Starfish. Peacemaker was well-received upon release and even got a renewal before the Dceu imploded and became the Dcu.

Among the reboots, though, Gunn seems to have saved his beloved TV series, and fans are all the more excited for it. The filmmaker mentioned that though some characters from the show will survive the reboot and will carry over to the Dcu, Season 1 will not be canon to the new continuity. No one knows how that will work yet, but James Gunn assured that there was a way.

James Gunn’s Dcu started with Creature Commandos late last year, which included some characters from Peacemaker.

There's No "I" In "Peace" On First Poster For Peacemaker Season 2; First Trailer Arrives Tomorrow
Image
The first poster for Peacemaker season 2 has been released, with the trailer now confirmed for tomorrow. Some of you may be disappointed that this is getting a push before Superman's first full trailer lands, but the Man of Steel did recently get a 5-minute sneak peek and featurette.

This latest sneak peek, which follows yesterday's TV spot, doesn't reveal much, but puts the spotlight on the title character and Eagly. It's also accompanied by the tagline, "There is no I in Peace."

Plot details for season 2 are being kept a closely guarded secret, though there are rumblings that, among the changes made when we follow Smith into a new reality, will be the fact that his father and brother are alive again. Frank Grillo's Rick Flag Sr. will also be out for revenge after learning of Peacemaker's role in his son's death.

Peacemaker spun out of the events of The Suicide Squad,...

CBS Season Ratings: ‘Matlock,’ ‘Tracker’ Reign as Canceled Shows Fall off the Map
Image
Despite closing out the 2024-25 TV season as the most-watched broadcast network, CBS had to make some tough calls in canceling popular series like “The Equalizer,” “S.W.A.T.” and two “FBI” spinoffs from the 2025-26 lineup — cancellations that might have upset fans, but which seem self-explanatory breaking down where they ranked in this season’s ratings.

It comes as no surprise the network’s shining stars “Tracker” and “Matlock,” which earned a Season 2 renewal after just two episodes, continued their dominance throughout the season, wrapping up as the two most-watched broadcast series according to Nielsen live-plus-35-day multiplatform figures. The Justin Hartley-led procedural averaged 17.5 million viewers while Kathy Bates’ twisty legal reboot closed out its first season with 16.1 million viewers.

While ABC’s “High Potential” and “Will Trent” snuck into the top eight broadcast shows with 16.1 million and 11.6 million viewers in the No. 3 and No. 6 spots, respectively, CBS was home...

Neon Picks Oscar Winners, Builds a Library and Looks Primed for a Takeover – Why Hasn’t It Found a Buyer? | Exclusive
Image
With a Best Picture Oscar fresh on its mantle after the triumph of “Anora” in March, Neon is headed to its favorite festival, Cannes, riding high. The arthouse studio founded in 2017 has every reason to feel confident, having released the past five consecutive Palme d’Or winners, and arriving on the Croisette next week with four films in the official lineup: “Alpha” by Julia Ducournau, “Sentimental Value” by Joachim Trier, “Orwell” by Raoul Peck and “Splitsville” by Mike Cavino.

It’s natural for studio co-founder and CEO Tom Quinn to think about capitalizing on the moment, plot to expand his arthouse success and see his small but mighty endeavor financially headed in the direction of his rival A24, last valued at $3.5 billion.

But in a sign of complicated times for M&a in general and arthouse studios in particular, Neon remains in a nether space, with a valuation bankers and dealmakers put at only $200-$250 million.

The Creep: Christopher Smith to direct a reboot of his 2004 film Creep
Image
Back in 2004, Christopher Smith made his feature writing and directing debut with the horror film Creep, which starred Franka Potente as a young woman who discovers a hideously deformed cannibal living in the London Underground. Now, Screen Daily reports that Smith is set to direct a reboot of his film – and since another horror franchise has taken over the name Creep, this reboot is called The Creep.

Production on The Creep is scheduled to take place in the UK this fall. Jasmine Jobson (Top Boy), Andy Nyman (Wicked) and rapper Aitch have signed on to star in the film, which will (as expected) be set in London’s shadowy underground. The story follows a struggling artist (Jobson) forced to return to her criminal drug-running past. Andy Nyman plays a captive well-versed in Creep’s nefarious behavior, while award-winning rapper Aitch plays Natter G, a famous drill rapper with natural survival instincts.

Peacemaker Season 2 TV Spot Sees Rick Flag Sr. On The Hunt For His Son's Killer
Image
During Inside the NBA on TNT yesterday evening, a new TV spot for Peacemaker season 2 aired. Offering our best look yet at the Dcu TV series, we see the show's leads forced to resign themselves to the fact they're not considered heroes, despite saving the world.

It appears that Peacemaker and company will return to White Dragon's lair, though they seem to be on the run from someone.

Rick Flag Sr., perhaps? This preview confirms he's on the hunt for Christopher Smith and eager to avenge what happened to his son in The Suicide Squad.

James Gunn has previously revealed that Flag takes over A.R.G.U.S. from Amanda Waller (we're guessing that was meant to be explained in the Waller TV series that's stalled), leading to him learning the truth about what happened in Corto Maltese. We'll catch up with the Creature Commandos lead in Superman this summer.

James Gunn Shares New Look At Peacemaker Season 2 After Celebrating John Cena's Historic WWE Title Win
Image
At WrestleMania in Las Vegas this past weekend, John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes (with an assist from rapper Travis Scott) to win a record 17th WWE Championship.

The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker director James Gunn was among those who congratulated Cena after his big win. Today, the filmmaker has celebrated his friend and frequent collaborator's 48th birthday with a new photo from the Peacemaker season 2 set.

Those of you who have pointed out that the DC Studios co-ceo has appeared in a lot of Superman promotional material likely won't be surprised to see that Gunn is also front and centre. Coincidence or part of an overall marketing strategy? It's hard to say.

Either way, this is probably our best look yet at Peacemaker's costume and helmet in the Dcu and, well, he really doesn't look all that different from when we last saw him cause chaos in the Dceu.

"In Creature Commandos,...

Fyre Festival To Be Turned Into Music Streaming Service With IP Deal
Image
Exclusive: The Fyre Festival, the infamous music event founded by Billy McFarland and Ja Rule that was explored in two separate documentaries, is getting a new life as a music streaming service.

Deadline understands that Shawn Rech, who co-founded the TruBlue streaming service with former To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen, has acquired some of the IP of the event including two trademarks that will allow him to launch the service.

The deal comes shortly after it emerged that the second iteration of the festival, which was set to take place in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, was postponed indefinitely.

“Music networks are all just programming now and I have no interest in watching people slip on bananas. It has nothing to do with music. I needed a big name that people would remember, even if it’s attached to infamy, so that’s why I bought these [trademarks] to start the streaming network,...

‘Peacemaker’ Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Plot, and All You Need to Know
Image
Of all the characters from The Suicide Squad, why focus on the guy who murdered Rick Flag? James Gunn, however, saw a fair bit of potential in John Cena’s Christopher Smith, a walking disaster with daddy issues and a pretty skewed sense of morality. It became evident in the early minutes of the first season of Peacemaker that this was not what it looked like, albeit the packaging.

Peacemaker Season 1 was very much a case of lightning in a bottle. It successfully took a relatively obscure DC character and turned him into a compelling figure in an already saturated superhero genre. It’s doubly hard for any new superhero introduction to be meaningful these days and to find an audience, yet Peacemaker was able to do that relatively easily.

It’s been three years since that Season 1 finale back in 2022, but with all the shuffling at Warner Bros., the...

Sean Bean And Eddie Redmayne's Forgotten Historical Horror Movie Is Finding Fans On Max
Image
The streaming movie charts are often full of amusing surprises. Sometimes, films that have been largely ignored for a decade or longer suddenly rocket their way into the top 10. The cause for their resurgence is usually directly attributable to something going on in the world: the movie could feature a newly minted movie star in an early role (either that or possess subject matter that is similar to a film that is raking in the dough at the box office). The death of a major filmmaker or actor is also a big driver of views, as we recently saw with the late, great Gene Hackman.

One of the biggest viewing swings of the 2020s thus far came at the start of the decade when the Covid-19 lockdown inspired millions of frightened, sheltering-in-place streaming subscribers to watch Steven Soderbergh's 2011 pandemic classic "Contagion." It was the right movie at the right...

King Of Kings Star Dee Bradley Baker Reveals Whether He'll Return As Eagly In Peacemaker Season 2 (Exclusive)
Image
While many of you will know Dee Bradley Baker best for his role as Captain Rex in The Clone Wars (and as The Bad Batch's fan-favourite lead characters). However, what you might not realise is that the actor also has a unique talent for voicing animals.

His latest role in that realm is as King of Kings' Willa the Cat, and Baker recently sat down with us to talk about how he approached the feline standout.

During our conversation, we asked the Star Wars veteran whether he'll be back as Christopher Smith's beloved sidekick, Eagly, in Peacemaker season 2. He had to choose his words carefully, but it sounds like it's happening.

"Oh, I was very, very pleased with Eagly and I really enjoyed Peacemaker," Baker shares in the video below. "I think all I can say is I'm not allowed to say anything. Maybe that tells you something, I don't know.

Michael Angarano and Michael Cera on Coming of Age (Again) in Their Bristly Buddy Comedy ‘Sacramento’
Image
Michael Angarano and Michael Cera have been on screen for most of their lives. Both former child actors, each grew into an adult in front of audiences during the aughts — for Angarano, as Sean Hayes’ son in “Will and Grace” or the nepo-superhero of Disney’s teen actioner “Sky High”; for Cera, in the meaner streak comedies of “Arrested Development” and “Superbad.” But that particularly intense spotlight — being the on-screen representation for a millennial generation then coming into consciousness — is less of a burden in their mid-thirties.

“Almost 20 years ago, I would get really anxious walking by a high school because the kids would know who I was and they create a frenzy of energy that you’re not able to withstand. But now I feel very comfortable walking by a high school, because I know they have no idea who I am,” Cera says with a laugh.

Both Mikes...
