“Chucky” to Bring John Waters Back to the Franchise as Good Guy Dolls’ Creator
Chucky (2021)
As if we needed yet another reason to get excited about “Chucky” Season 3: Part 2, set to arrive next year, EW reports that filmmaker and Seed of Chucky alum John Waters is set to make his franchise return.

Chucky Creator Don Mancini Discusses Season 3 and the Benefits of TV
Image
Don Mancini is a unique voice in the horror genre. He's written some great scripts for the best horror shows, but he's mainly known for co-writing the Chucky franchise with John Lafia, starting with Child's Play. Since then, he's been mainly responsible for maintaining and continuing what is arguably the highest quality franchise in horror history; nothing feels like just a cash grab, and the stories and characters develop, while the kills, humor, and satire continues. Mancini wrote all eight of those films, and directed the last three before creating the surprise hit show, Chucky, which airs on SyFy and USA, and streams on Peacock. Mancini spoke with us about season three and the themes and evolution of the franchise.

Syfy has picked up new seasons of two of its horror-inflected series.

The NBCUniveral cable network has renewed Chucky, the continuation of the long-running movie franchise, for a third season, and vampire comedy Reginald the Vampire for a second. (Chucky also airs on sister channel USA Network.)

Created by Don Mancini — the mastermind of the Child’s Play movie franchise — Chucky, from Universal Studio Group’s UCP, follows the murderous, serial killer-possessed doll as he wreaks havoc on a new set of characters. The show’s second season was among the top 10 dramas in cable among adults 18-49.

Zackary Arthur, Björgvin Arnarson, Alyvia Alyn Lind and Brad Dourif (reprising his franchise role as the voice of Chucky) star in the series. A number of familiar faces from the movie series, including Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent and Christine Elise, have made guest appearances.

In the TV series, Chucky crosses paths with archenemies, old allies and new prey, as he seeks to inspire fear and mayhem wherever he goes. After his diabolical plan to invade America’s children’s hospitals was foiled in season one, Chucky now seeks revenge on those he holds responsible: surviving teens Jake (Zackary Arthur), Devon (Björgvin Arnarson) and Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), along with his ex Tiffany, now his sworn enemy. Meanwhile, can “Jevon” make it as a couple in the face of adversity at their new Catholic school, not to mention...

‘Chucky’: Jennifer Tilly To Return As Tiffany Valentine; Season 2 Targets Fall Return On USA & Syfy
Image
Exclusive: Tiffany Valentine’s story on Chucky will continue. Jennifer Tilly has closed a deal to return for Season 2 of the USA Network/Syfy series, from the movie franchise creator/writer Don Mancini who serves as showrunner. The series’ second season is slated to premiere on the two NBCUniversal cable networks in the fall, likely keeping with the pre-Halloween tradition fitting the horror title.

Tilly originally signed up to reprise her role as Tiffany Valentine from the movies in multiple episodes of the first season to help the series build on the legacy of the film franchise. Her new deal will keep Tiffany on the show following the Season 1 finale cliffhanger.

In it, we saw Tiffany Valentine (Tilly) as Tiffany the doll. After Andy stole a truck full of Chucky dolls, Tiffany the doll popped out and held a gun to his head and demanded that he drive the truck.

Broken Darkness Cannot Piece Itself Back Together Again: A Film Review
*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by one of the members of the cast. Director/writer: Christopher-Lee dos Santos Cast: Sean Cameron Michael, Suraya Santos, Brandon Auret, Jonathan Pienaar and Ryan Kruger. Broken Darkness is a post-apocalyptic title, from South Africa. Previously titled Last Broken Darkness, this film was shot by director Christopher-Lee dos Santos. Broken Darkness stars: Sean Cameron Michael ("Black Sails"), Brandon Auret (Elysium), Suraya Santos and Jonathan Pienaar. Much of the film takes place after a devastating meteorite strike; survivors must live below ground, or face the radiation and infection above. For the first hour, everything story-wise comes across well. Then, the tone shifts from a serious dramatic thriller to an overly sombre series of scenes. This shift, in tone, is a bit disconcerting. Also, somewhat reminiscent of Jeff Renfroe's The Colony (2013) and John Hillcoat's The Road (2009), Broken Darkness brings the.
