Armie Hammer is looking to get back on track with his acting career despite the shocking allegations that came to light in 2021 and left him sidelined for the last three years. Hammer would recently admitthat he “kind of likes” the cannibal accusations now. He states on the premiere episode of his new podcast, “It’s wild. I’m not going to lie; I kind of like the cannibal stuff now.”
Deadline now reports that Hammer already has his comeback project lined up with the Western film Frontier Crucible. The movie will be starring The Punisher star Thomas Jane and is produced by Bone Tomahawk and Dragged Across Concrete producer Dallas Sonnier. The movie is independently-financed and production is set to take off next month in Monument Valley and Prescott, Arizona.
In Frontier Crucible, Hammer is said to be playing one of the “key roles” in the film, although no other details have been unveiled.

Armie Hammer’s exile from the film industry appears to be over.
The actor — who hasn’t acted in more than three years following sexual assault allegations that arose in 2021 — has landed a key role in upcoming Western “Frontier Crucible.”
From “Bone Tomahawk” and “Dragged Across Concrete” producer Dallas Sonnier, the film comes from Sonnier’s Bonfire Legend banner and will be directed by Travis Mills (“The Pendragon Cycle”). Thomas Jane (“Boogie Nights”) also stars, alongside Myles Clohessy (“The Pendragon Cycle”), Eli Brown (“Run Hide Fight”), Eddie Spears (“Yellowstone”) and Zane Holtz (“Hunter Killer”), singer-songwriter Jonah Kagen and newcomer Mary Stickley.
“I’ve made a career out of smashing taboos, while always striving for great cinema,” Sonnier said in a statement. “This moment is the perfect mix of my two dedications. I cannot wait to work with Armie Hammer on this incredible western, a genre I adore.”

Armie Hammer is returning to the big screen after his Hollywood career came crashing down around him amid numerous sexual misconduct allegations.
Hammer is set to star in Frontier Crucible, a period western from director Travis Mills and producer Dallas Sonnier.
“I’ve built a career producing masculine indie movies, such as Bone Tomahawk, Brawl in Cell Block 99, Dragged Across Concrete, Muzzle and The Standoff at Sparrow Creek and worked with legendary actors including Kurt Russell, Vince Vaughn, Mel Gibson, Jason Sudeikis, Guy Pearce, Aaron Eckhart, Don Johnson, Stephen Lang, James Badge Dale, Steve Austin, and more. And, now, I’m pumped to work with Armie Hammer on Frontier Crucible,” Sonnier told The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday in a statement.
Hammer teased his big screen return on his Instagram page with photos of himself on the Frontier Crucible set and a front page of the movie’s script on the ground.

Armie Hammer’s outlaw days in Hollywood are coming to an end, thanks to indie Western film “Frontier Crucible.”
Hammer will return to acting for the first time since being accused of sexual assault in 2021. After the allegations, which also suggested Hammer had cannibalistic tendencies, the “Call Me by Your Name” star was dropped from roles in Amazon’s “Shotgun Wedding,” Paramount’s “The Offer,” Starz’s “Gaslit,” and Broadway’s “The Minutes.” The accusations were investigated by the LAPD; no charges were filed.
Now, after Hammer has said he was “not welcome” in Hollywood anymore, the “Lone Ranger” actor is playing one of three outlaw criminals for “Frontier Crucible.”
The feature is produced by “Bone Tomahawk” and “Dragged Across Concrete” producer Dallas Sonnier, and is being billed as “Reservoir Dogs” meets “Bone Tomahawk.” The film is set in the Arizona Territory of the 1870s, and follows a former soldier...

Exclusive: Armie Hammer, who hasn’t acted in more than three years following 2021 sexual assault allegations, is set to return to a film set with western Frontier Crucible.
This is the project we revealed yesterday, starring Thomas Jane (The Predator) and produced by Bone Tomahawk and Dragged Across Concrete producer Dallas Sonnier. Filming is due to get underway on the independently-financed film next month in Monument Valley and Prescott, Arizona.
Hammer’s A-list Hollywood career was derailed back in 2021 when multiple women came forward with claims of abuse against him. Hammer denied the allegations but had to abandon several projects and was dropped by his talent agency and publicist. After an investigation into Hammer by the LA County District Attorney and LAPD, they declined to pursue criminal charges against him, citing insufficient evidence. He remains without representation other than his lawyer.

Drawing inspiration from The Matrix, Edge of Tomorrow, and, especially, Christopher Nolan’s Memento and Inception, Robert Rodriguez’s sci-fi neo-noir Hypnotic is less homage than a faded copy of a copy. Rodriguez and co-writer Max Borenstein certainly aren’t the first filmmakers to recycle a high-concept idea. But for a film so explicitly concerned with the reshaping of reality, Hypnotic’s utter failure to present a world that feels remotely convincing or fleshed out is a source of constant distraction. And while a couple of its myriad twists are clever enough, the film is often more mind-numbing than mind-bending.
Hypnotic opens with urban police officer Danny Rourke (Ben Affleck) mourning the kidnapping of his seven-year-old daughter, Minnie (Ionie Nieves), whose abductor, once caught, claims no memory of his actions or her whereabouts. Something is off about the whole incident, the details of which are replayed for the audience via...

Some fans are convinced that the That 70’s Show alum is on his way out the door and that the CBS procedural has already introduced his replacement. A “very disturbing” true-crime movie branded “dreary torture porn” is getting released in the UK after six years.
Later this month, Paramount+ will add the film, titledGirl in the Box, to its streaming library.
However, it’s being noted that this film is not a new release and actually premiered on Lifetime in the US back in 2016.
The film tells the real-life story of a girl named Colleen Stan (Addison Timlin) who, while hitchhiking in 1977, is kidnapped and kept in a coffin-sized box for 23 hours a day.
When her captors, married couple Cameron and Janice Hooker, let her out of the box, they abuse her. Colleen’s ordeal lasted for seven years, during which time she was tortured and forced to sign a “slave contract”.
Having been manipulated by Cameron (Zane Holtz) into believing there were outside forces preventing her escape, she was finally encouraged to escape by Janice, who...

This Riverdale review contains spoilers.
Riverdale Season 6 Episode 10
“Stranger things have happened in Riverdale”
With word of Riverdale being renewed for a seventh season, one question hangs heavily in the air: How long can this series carry on its shenanigans? This recent batch of episodes alone has brought us plot points that include everything from witchcraft to (coming soon!) time travel, leading viewers and this writer to wonder is anything beyond the pale here? Seeing how some cast members of the CW stalwart have hinted at how they’re ready to wrap things up once next season — and their contracts, probably — finishes, it is not wrong to want to cherish every remaining episode like a gift. Because friends, there will never be a another program like this one.
From the start everything about Riverdale has been off-kilter. It’s based on the Archie humor comics but isn’t intentionally funny.

When Riverdale‘s fourth season ended abruptly shut down production due to Covid-19 earlier this year, the show had to quickly narratively pivot. Instead of tying together several season-long plot threads — including revealing the true motives of Charles, whether or not the Stonewall Preppies would get revenge against Jughead, and, most importantly, who is behind the mailing of sinister videotapes to the town’s residents — the show wrapped with Mr. Honey leaving Riverdale High and the gang viewing a new tape in which masked doppelgangers of themselves act out their former principal’s murder. It’s all pretty creepy, and since the episode that aired wasn’t intended to be the season finale, it raises more questions than it answers.
Fortunately, like Betty and Jughead, we are on the case.
The CW has just released a trailer for Riverdale Season 5 that shows how wild things are about to get.

Katy Keene's New York fairytale is coming to an abrupt conclusion.
The CW has canceled the Riverdale spinoff after just one season.
The drama's freshman finale aired May 14, and while it seemed the series would be a hit because of its connection to Riverdale, it was not meant to be.
Katy Keene Season 1 averaged 480,000 total viewers and a 0.1 rating among adults.
Out of 16 dramas the network aired this season, it ranked 14th.
It bested In the Dark and Dynasty -- both of which have been picked up for the 2020-21 TV season.
Alarm bells started ringing when The CW opted to hold off on a renewal decision, with network president Mark Pedowitz wanting to wait to assess the digital figures for the series.
The CW has always looked at the bigger picture when it comes to other avenues people use to watch their shows.

Katy Keene and The CW are no longer a match. The Riverdale spinoff has been canceled after one season, TVLine has learned. The drama’s first season finale, which now serves as its de facto series finale, aired on Thursday, May 14.
Across its 13-episode freshman run, Katy Keene averaged just over a 0.1 demo rating along with 480,000 total weekly viewers (in Live+Same Day numbers). Out of the 16 dramas The CW aired in-season, it ranked 14th in both measures, besting only Dynasty and In the Dark (both of which were renewed back in January for the 2020-21 TV season).

The CW has opted not to proceed with a second season of Katy Keene. Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind The Riverdale spinoff headlined by Lucy Hale, is planning to explore options for keeping the show going.
The CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz in May revealed that the options on the cast, which originally expired June 30, had been extended as the network was mulling their renewal decision. I hear the extension is until July 31, giving Wbtv a window to pursue a new home. Given Katy Keene‘s streaming deal at Wbtv corporate sibling HBO Max, which is currently carrying Season 1, the platform is considered the most realistic option for keeping Katy Keene alive.
Katy Keene was the only current CW series not to get a renewal for next season in January. In a vote of confidence, the network at the time gave the midseason show a 13-script order ahead of its premiere.

The CW is set to make a decision on the future on Katy Keene “in a few weeks” and the network hopes that more streaming numbers will make up for “soft” linear ratings.
The network will take into account streaming figures for the show, which will have all episodes stacked on The CW’s digital platform and will launch on HBO Max at the end of the month, before making a renewal decision.
The CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz added that it had extended the options on the cast ahead of a decision.

Speaking on a call to discuss the network’s fall and 2021 schedule, he said that he was pleased with the creative of the show. “The linear ratings have been soft but we have seen some good streaming viewership,” he added. “We’ll make a decision in a few weeks.

Robin Givens is dropping by Katy Keene on Thursday (The CW, 8/7c) for a mini McCoy family reunion, but it won’t be all drag shows and surprise musical numbers.

Who would have thought Katy Keene Season 1 Episode 3 -- a belated Valentine's edition of the series -- would conclude with Katy and K.O. ending their relationship?
Not me. If you watch Katy Keene online, you know that Katy is bursting at the seams with optimism. Her aim has been to keep her and K.O. together despite their respective dreams pulling them further apart.
Despite the relationship seeming perfect from the outside, there were some deeply-rooted issues behind closed doors.
Katy has the drive to please those closest to her. She's a kind soul who wants everyone to get along and to be the best version of herself. I appreciated the show addressing the fact that Katy was not honest with herself.

The CW's adaptation of Katy Keene might be in the same universe as Riverdale, but don't expect to see a lot of murder, cults, corpses, and teens with skeevy dark sides. Instead, you can expect singing, fashion designing, and a group of young adults chasing their dreams in New York City. The series, which premieres on Feb. 6, heavily focuses on four ambitious professionals: Katy Keene (Lucy Hale), who wants to be the next great fashion designer; Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) who's determined to make it big as a singer; Jorge, aka Ginger Lopez (Jonny Beauchamp), who's ready to take the Broadway world by storm; and Pepper Smith (Julia Chan), who wants to open her own version of Andy Warhol's Factory. Another character viewers will likely come to love is Katy's boyfriend, K.O. Kelly - a bouncer, an aspiring boxer, and a truly adorable significant other.

Katy Keene, the third entry in the CW's Archieverse is a comforting musical fantasy with engaging characters.

Katy Keene Episode 1
"This one's for all the dreamers out there."
So declares Josie McCoy towards the end of Katy Keene's pilot episode. She's not summing up this third entry in the ever-expanding TV Archieverse, but she may as well be. Unlike Riverdale or Chilling Adventures of Sabrina there are no murders or Satantic headaches to be found here, just a quartet of twentysomethings living in New York City and pursuing their dreams. It's pure escapism in every way, and way more charming than it has any right to be.
Perhaps best described as Sex in the City meets Fame by way of The Devil Wears Prada, the series stars Lucy Hale as the titular character, a talented fashion designer who spends her days...

The first two series in television’s Archie Comics’ inspired “Archieverse” — “Riverdale” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” — are dark and mature in tone. They may center on high school-aged, small town kids and their parental figures, but thematically they explore everything from sex and drugs to cults, murder and the literal occult. The upcoming third series in that universe, “Katy Keene,” is the opposite.
Set five years after “Riverdale,” “Katy Keene” follows 20-something adult characters as they try to juggle love, friendship and following their dreams in the metropolitan setting of New York City — but their New York is one that favors the bright eyes of aspirations, rather than the dirt and grit of the struggle. The titular character (played by Lucy Hale) is pursuing becoming a fashion designer while working in a department store to make ends meet, Meanwhile Josie (Ashleigh Murray) moves to New York from the titular...

Joining the ranks of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Nancy Drew, Katy Keene is the newest series to enter the Riverdale TV universe. The musical dramedy series, now picked up for an entire season, will feature Katy Keene and Josie McCoy's adventures in New York City. Slated for a Feb. 6 air date, it's based on the Katy Keene comics, an offshoot of the original Archie ones. Since the show is so directly related to Riverdale, here's our most pressing question: when exactly does Katy Keene take place in the Riverdale timeline? The answer is relatively far into the future if we're going to use Riverdale's latest season as a base.
Long story short, Katy Keene will be five years ahead of Riverdale as we know it now, taking place after Josie (Ashleigh Murray) leaves Riverdale to pursue her music career in New York. Josie, now an adult, will share...

The Archie Universe on TV is set to expand with the upcoming addition of Katy Keene, and after viewing the three episodes available for critics, I can say that the series offers something new for the franchise.
Instead of being shrouded in darkness like Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Katy Keene plays out more like a New York-set fairytale, and in the process, it shines a light on the pitfalls of trying to become rich and famous.
Lucy Hale leads the cast as the titular character.
You would think the actress would be over the teen drama genre after roles in Privileged, Life Sentence, and, of course, Pretty Little Liars., but Hale embodies the character well, using her full acting range to convey this colorful confection of a character that first originated in comic-book form.

There are a lot of reasons to be excited for the premiere of The CW's Katy Keene, but one of the biggest reasons may just be Zane Holtz. The 32-year-old Canadian actor and model plays Ko Kelly, Katy's longtime boyfriend, on the forthcoming Riverdale spinoff, and even if his name doesn't sound familiar, there's a good chance you've seen Zane Holtz before. Previously, he's played Charlie's football-playing older brother, Chris, in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, starred as Richie Gecko in From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, and even appeared in Demi Lovato's "Confident" music video, among several other roles - and we can't wait to see Zane and Lucy Hale make a seriously fine couple as Ko and Katy. Just look at these pics to see why we've got Zane on the brain.

In advance of Katy Keene‘s series premiere next month, the CW has ordered 13 additional scripts of the Riverdale spinoff headlined by Lucy Hale.
The script order joins early renewals for next season of all 13 of the CW’s current scripted series that are not ending this season: All American, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Charmed, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, The Flash, In The Dark, Legacies, Nancy Drew, Riverdale, Roswell, New Mexico and Supergirl.
The additional script order is a strong vote of confidence to Katy Keene. With its pedigree — being spinoff from the CW’s hit drama Riverdale based on the Archie Comics characters, coming from A-list creative auspices, Greg Berlanti and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and toplined by a CW star, Hale — a Season 2 renewal for Katy Keene was considered likely.

“Katy Keene” may be set in the Archie Comics universe. But it’s a long way from “Riverdale.”
That point is made, first, by a series-opening sequence in which Katy (Lucy Hale) announces “Welcome to New York!” while watching her roommate, a drag queen (Jonny Beauchamp), perform; only moments before, the Taylor Swift song “Welcome to New York” had been playing as Katy went about her job at an upscale department store. Later in the pilot, Josie (Ashleigh Murray), now an aspiring vocalist who operates without her backing Pussycats, announces she has little to fear in the big city: “I am from Riverdale. It’s the murder capital of the world.”
Indeed, the problems in “Katy Keene’s” New York seem more prosaic than in the drug-and-violence-strewn small town of “Riverdale” — and the show is better for it. Katy, here, is a would-be designer seeking to balance work, friends, and...

Is Riverdale getting too dark and gory for you? Well, The CW might have just what you need with Katy Keene — debuting Thursday, Feb. 6 at 8/7c — a light and breezy Riverdale spinoff starring Lucy Hale as the titular fashion designer chasing her dreams in New York City. A glammed-up combo of Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada, Katy Keene is definitely a hard turn away from Riverdale‘s grim and bloody subject matter: Think less serial killers and cult leaders and more cute rom-com antics and all-night Bff chat sessions. As a Riverdale viewer, I don’t...

Riverdale fans already know some crossover of characters is planned for the CW’s upcoming Katy Keene. But the spin-off’s exec producers and cast teased out a few more details at today’s Tribeca TV Festival panel and pilot screening.
Expect a boxing match. And Pussycats. And Robin Givens.
As for the boxing, one of the regular characters on Katy Keene is K.O. Kelly, Katy’s aspiring boxer boyfriend. Katy Keene is making the jump from comic book to TV in 2020.
The new CW drama series is set in the same universe as Riverdale, but the show is nowhere near as dark as its parent series.

Katy designs clothes for anyone she can, including her friend and roommate Josie, whose singing talent catches the attention of Alexander Cabot (Lucien Laviscount), a CEO who hopes to reboot the record label division of his father’s corporate empire.
