Born November 4, 1975 and raised in a conservative family in the
suburban outskirts of Mexico City. Attended and got suspended from
several of the most renowned schools in town. Tricked his way into
Universidad Iberoamericana and completed Communications Studies, with a
minor in Film.
After directing a now infamous short film,
Salim chilim tecohidimm (2002), and a string of
very unsuccessful pornographic features featuring himself and no one
else, Mr. Santi, as he is known to his friends, landed a job as a third
Assistant Director in
The Tiger of Santa Julia (2002) and from then on, continued his career
behind the cameras and away from any possibility of something
resembling a creative decision on a number of features and short films.
Inspired by his encounter with
John Sayles , whom he met while shooting
_Casa de Los Babys (2003)_, Santiago decided to clean up his act, abandon his long lasting
romance with psychedelic drugs, and enroll himself in the cheapest film
school he could find for a couple of years. Beware, because he promised
to return with a vengeance.
