The last time we saw the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Since then, the character has been noticeably absent from the big screen. While it’s clear that a solo Hulk project isn’t on the horizon, rumors have been swirling about Bruce Banner’s potential appearance in Captain America: Brave New World.

These speculations gained traction after Mark Ruffalo himself hinted at being involved with the movie before quickly backtracking, claiming he was mistaken.

Marvel Studios recently revealed a list of cast members set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Some names, like Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, were anticipated, given the Fantastic Four’s history with Doctor Doom.

However, other announcements came as a surprise, such as almost the entire Thunderbolts* cast (excluding Taskmaster) joining the film.

There is simply no refuting the fact that Avengers: Doomsday is on course to becoming the biggest movie of 2026. Sure, it has stiff competition from another Marvel movie in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but right now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe spectacle looks set to captivate audiences around the world - which isn't surprising at all considering the Avengers' track record.

This one promises to feature even more surprises than ever before, with the cast members of Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four: First Steps and X-Men all set to appear, along with a host of Marvel veterans. The biggest Marvel veteran of all will return in a new role, however, as Robert Downey Jr. will lead the ensemble as Doctor Doom - the film's primary villain.

But another MCU veteran will be back too, and it sounds like he's already getting into character as the film kicks off production.

The Marvel movie finished its first week with a decent performance but failed to achieve its first major milestone at the North American box office. Thunderbolts*, which has now revealed its new title, The New Avengers, has already surpassed a few Marvel movies’ domestic haul, including The Marvels. Marvel Studios delivered plenty of exciting surprises during the Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal, including the return of some familiar faces from 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise. There were some huge omissions, though, and even with production underway, it feels like this ensemble is far from complete.

While Kevin Feige has confirmed it wasn't the full cast, one of the most disappointing omissions was Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox.

Talking to Collider, the actor was asked about not getting a chair and replied, "It’s not there, is it? [Laughs] Listen, the way that information gets to us is the same way that it gets to everyone else normally. At least historically, that's been the case. Someone sent me the link. Even though Avengers: Doomsday has officially begun production, Victor von Doom himself, Robert Downey Jr. and some fellow cast members took time out of their schedule to catch the latest MCU installment, Thunderbolts*, showing their support while also passing the torch (not the human kind).

Rdj recently posted on his Instagram a picture from a private screening of Thunderbolts* that he, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Channing Tatum (Gambit), Simu Liu (Xu Shang-Chi), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Winston Duke (M’Baku), and Anthony Mackie (Captain America) sat down for. Another image shows that group joined by Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing) and Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman). He captioned his post, “Just wow!!! Dinner and a show with the Old Avengers. So cool, fresh, and deep. Big congrats.”

Cameras are now rolling on Avengers: Doomsday, and while we have yet to see any revealing set photos, a recent report claimed that scenes are being filmed at "an under-attack" X-Mansion.

Now, scooper Mttsh is reporting that a fight scene involving Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) facing off against Magneto (Sir Ian McKellen) is currently being shot.

These characters have crossed paths a number of times in the comics, and while a few harsh words have been spoken, they usually regard each other with a sense of mutual respect. Magneto is an incredibly powerful mutant, and one might assume his ability to control metal would give him an advantage over the fully armoured Doom. However, the Fantastic Four villain's mastery of various magical arts would likely make things very difficult for Mags.

Unfortunately, security has been very tight around the set, so we may not get to see any of the actors filming their scenes.
