Josh Peck breaks down how he joined The Last of Us. Season 2 of the hit HBO show has seen the scope of the story expand far beyond Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as several new factions of survivors and the conflicts between them are introduced. The Last of Us season 2, episode 4 begins with a flashback to 2018 featuring several Fedra soldiers, one of whom is played by Peck, and uses the scene to introduce Jeffrey Wright's character Isaac as well.

When the Borg were first introduced in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Q Who", they were ineffable, mysterious, and terrifying. They were a race of cyborgs that were bound by a single machine consciousness, existing only to grow and expand. They did this by stealing resources from others. When the Borg encountered a starship, they would scan it, find technology they didn't have, carve it up, and absorb its pieces into their own cube-shaped craft. To shore up their numbers, they would kidnap humanoid species as "assimilate" them. That is: implant their bodies with tubes and computers and force them to serve as mindless robot drones.
The Borg returned throughout "Next Generation," and each time were described as having a collective consciousness. It wouldn't be until "Star Trek: First Contact" in 1996 that the Borg would be likened to a beehive.

One of the core tenets of "Star Trek" is an undercurrent of pacifism. The ships we see in any given "Star Trek" series are usually research vessels devoted to missions of exploration and study. Just as often, they do repair work on distant worlds, help planets in severe environmental trouble, or taxi diplomats to important peace talks. And while the U.S.S. Enterprise is equipped with weapons like phasers and photon torpedoes, they are only very rarely assigned a mission of combat. More often, the crew of the Enterprise will threaten a potential battlefield foe while still doing everything they can to avoid war.
The core tenets of pacifism, however, are typically ignored in many of the "Star Trek" feature films. Because of their medium, the "Star Trek" movies typically demand larger-scale stories and easily consumed conflicts that can be satisfactorily wrapped in about 100 to 120 minutes. This demand often...

In its seven seasons on the air, The Rookie has featured several shocking character exits. These departures have included the deaths of some beloved heroes on the show, such as Captain Zoe Andersen (Mercedes Mason) in Season 1 and Jackson West (Titus Makin Jr.) in Season 4, who were both killed in the line of duty. There have also been plenty of villains to kick the bucket, including Nick Armstrong (Harold Perrineau) in Season 3 and Rosalind Dyer (Annie Wersching) in Season 5. So, it shouldn't have come as a huge surprise when another series regular announced they'd be leaving the show before the Season 7 premiere. But would Aaron Thorsen (Tru Valentino) meet a gruesome end like these other unfortunate characters?...

NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 5, "Last Rites" is still an origin story, but not for Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Instead, it takes a detour to explain a formative case in young Mike Franks' history, giving some further insight into Gibbs' boss and mentor. While the ability to push past Franks' cynical, hardened exterior is welcomed, the killer behind bars plot is overdone and too predictable to be exciting.
"Last Rites" concerns a man whom Franks arrested for the murders of his wife and her boyfriend six years earlier. He was never able to recover the wife's body and that's bothered him ever since, especially since he made a promise to her twin sister. With the killer about to be executed, Franks has one last opportunity to fulfill that promise. While NCIS: Origins has followed some familiar paths, this one is so familiar that it doesn't even feel like an NCIS episode.

Agatha All Along has been a fantastic series, and there are more shows to watch if you love that witchy magic!
The Marvel Television series has become a major hit for Disney Plus. This sequel to WandaVision has Kathryn Hahn reprising her scene-stealing role as witch Agatha Harkness, the secret architect of much of the chaos. After regaining her memory and powers, Agatha goes on a quest for more power with the uneasy aid of other witches and a mysterious Teen.
The show has a wonderful mix of dark humor, action, thrills, drama and some truly shocking twists. It’s one of many TV shows that use witches and magic, most aimed at a YA audience. Others do have the same appeal as Agatha with a darker take on magic yet some truly offbeat storytelling.
Narrowing it down can be hard, but these 15 shows are just for anyone who enjoyed Agatha All Along.

The Borg Queen was arguably the most formidable Star Trek villain Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) ever faced. Although the Borg Queen did not make her debut until Star Trek: First Contact, the Borg established themselves as dangerous enemies of the United Federation of Planets in Star Trek: The Next Generation. The Borg were organized as a hive-minded collective of beings assimilated from various species across the galaxy. The Borg Queen was the undisputed ruler of the Collective, with her main goal to assimilate as many civilizations and technologies as possible.
The omnipotent troublemaker known as Q (John de Lancie) first introduced the Federation to the Borg in Star Trek: The Next Generation season 2, episode 16, "Q Who." When Q sent the USS Enterprise-d flying across the galaxy, Captain Picard's crew encountered a Borg cube for the first time. Throughout its seven seasons, Star Trek: Voyager featured several callbacks to Star Trek: The Next Generation. Less than a year after the 1994 series finale of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager promised a return to form for Star Trek television shows after Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's space station setting. Like Captain Jean-Luc Picard's (Patrick Stewart) USS Enterprise-d, Captain Kathryn Janeway's (Kate Mulgrew) USS Voyager took viewers on episodic journeys through the final frontier, with stops along the way to explore the strange new worlds of the Delta Quadrant.
To reinforce the idea of Star Trek: Voyager as a worthy successor to Star Trek: The Next Generation, Voyager rarely shied away from making references to the earlier Star Trek show. From familiar concepts to series regulars, Star Trek: Voyager found ways to incorporate characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation, despite being set on the other side of the galaxy.

Star Trek: Picard's Confederation of Earth reality allowed Star Trek: The Next Generation to avoid the Mirror Universe once more. The Mirror Universe is one of Star Trek's oldest and most enduring concepts. A dark parallel reality where Star Trek characters are the opposite of how they are in Star Trek's Prime timeline, the Mirror Universe was introduced in Star Trek: The Original Series season 2's "Mirror, Mirror." The Mirror Universe has its own complex history that was further explored by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek: Discovery, and Star Trek: Prodigy.
Introduced at the start of Star Trek: Picard season 2, the alternate timeline where the Confederation of Earth rose instead of the United Federation of Planets was created by Q (John de Lancie). The Confederation's creation is tied to two individuals who lived in 21st-century Los Angeles: Dr. Renee Picard (Penelope Mitchell) and Dr.

Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his crew may have thwarted the Borg in Star Trek: Picard season 3, but that doesn't mean that Star Trek is finished with the cybernetic drones. Since their introduction in Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Borg have become one of the franchise's most formidable foes. As a hive-minded collective of cybernetic drones, the Borg cannot be reasoned with and they adapt quickly to any attack. With their frightening refrain that "resistance is futile," the Borg have become ingrained in Star Trek and popular culture.
The Borg played a role in all three seasons of Picard, culminating in the dying Borg Queen's (Alice Krige) attempt to destroy Starfleet once and for all. The Borg Queen (Annie Wersching) had another desire besides assimilation, and Star Trek: Picard season 2 fulfilled it in an unexpected way. Stunt casting can always be really hit or miss — sometimes audiences are excited to see a fun guest star in a surprising role, and sometimes the gimmick ends up feeling, well, gimmicky. Even when it works, like Marlon Brando playing Jor-El in Richard Donner's "Superman," it's frequently a major headache for folks behind-the-scenes. After all, stunt casting involves bringing an actor or star not used to a certain genre or medium into that arena, and actors used to art films and dramas might have a hard time adjusting to the very different requirements of science fiction, fantasy, and horror movies. This goes double for major franchises, where the actor has to contend not only with the unique challenges of a new genre but also the expectations of the fandoms. Since there are few fandoms as intense in their love or as scrutinizing as "Star Trek," stunt casting has to be done very,...

Renee Walker could have been a great Jack Bauer replacement due to her growing intensity. 24 killed off Renee to propel Jack forward, using grief and anger as fuel. Renee's death followed a trend of using love and loss to drive Jack's rage.
Whether Jack Bauer will return for the rumored 24 revival is unknown yet, but his best replacement was killed off years ago. Every season of 24 is known for featuring tragic deaths and heavy plots and whether Kiefer Sutherland will return as the intense Jack Bauer in any future reboot is yet to be seen. Agnes Jurati's Borg Queen created confusion in Star Trek: Picard season 2, but they weren't the evil Borg Collective, just a small and separate group. "Star Trek: Picard" shares more than a little DNA with "12 Monkeys." In its third season, the recently ended "Trek" sequel series was captained by showrunner Terry Matalas, who co-created the wild Syfy Channel adaptation of Terry Gilliam's also-wild film. Q's motivation in creating a dystopian alternate reality in Star Trek: Picard season 2 was flawed; he could have achieved his goal by repeating the classic Tng episode "Tapestry" instead. Annie Wersching's portrayal of the Borg Queen in Picard season 2 brought a unique loneliness and vulnerability to the character, providing a fresh spin on the Borg's desire for assimilation. Despite some flaws in the overall story logic, Picard season 2 still had great Star Trek moments, including John de Lancie's brilliant performance as a malevolent Q and the exploration of a Mirror Universe-like dystopia.
Star Trek: Picard season 2 had its flaws, but it had some great moments that developed the character of Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and laid the groundwork for the Star Trek: The Next Generation reunion season. The final two episodes of "Star Trek: Picard," called "Võx" and "The Last Generation" respectively, concluded the season's strangest mystery. The young Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) had revealed on several occasions that he possessed eerie and inexplicable psychic powers. Not only could he read people's minds, but he could project his consciousness into other people's bodies and take control of them remotely. He also was inexplicably a martial arts expert and was capable of killing bad guys in ways he didn't think he was capable of.
The final explanation for his powers was perhaps a little silly. It turns out his long-lost father was Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and he inherited a Borg gene from his father. Picard, it seems, received the Borg gene from when he had been assimilated decades prior. The inherited gene gave Jack superpowers and also psychically lured him into the clutches of the insidious Borg Queen,...

Star Trek has never revealed the origins of the Borg Queen, and that's for the best to maintain her enigmatic nature. The idea of the Borg Queen as a hive-like leader protected by her drones taps into the original insectoid intentions for the Borg species. Revealing too much about the origins of the Borg Queen and the Borg themselves would limit future storytelling opportunities and make them less interesting.
Star Trek has never revealed the origins of the Borg Queen (Alice Krige) and that's for the best. Star Trek: Picard season 3 introduces the Fleet Museum, featuring the USS Wersching, a starship named after the late Borg Queen actress Annie Wersching. Annie Wersching played the Borg Queen in Star Trek: Picard season 2, and her portrayal was well-received by fans. Her death at the age of 45 was a tragedy. The USS Wersching joins other iconic Star Trek ships at the Fleet Museum, and its inclusion is a heartfelt gesture that honors Annie Wersching's legacy as the Borg Queen.

[This story contains spoilers from the two-episode premiere of Bosch: Legacy.]
Working as a journalist covering the police beat in the ‘80s and ‘90s, Michael Connelly believed his reporter’s job would be a means to an end in becoming a best-selling author one day. He would parlay his riches of stories from the various personalities of law enforcement officers he met during his newspaper years and craft a fictional no-nonsense L.A. Police Detective named Harry Bosch. Bosch’s creed would be simple and to the point: “Everybody counts or nobody counts.”
In 1992, The Black Echo became Connelly’s first best-seller featuring Detective Bosch. He hadn’t imagined then that, a little more than 20 years later, Bosch would become the longest-running single character in television streaming history, played by Titus Welliver. The character caught the imagination of Prime Video audiences for seven seasons with the series that bears the detective’s name. And now, Bosch: Legacy (on Amazon Freevee...

Also known for her work on 24 and Timeless, Wersching continued to shoot even after her 2020 cancer diagnosis, with prominent roles in Star Trek: Picard as the Borg queen in Season 2, and The Rookie. Star Trek: Picard season 3 episode 6 highlights the need for more levity in Captain Seven of Nine's character in the proposed spinoff, Star Trek: Legacy. Jeri Ryan's infectious laughter, showcased in the commentary tracks, is missing from Seven of Nine's serious character throughout Star Trek: Picard. Allowing Seven of Nine to display more wit and enjoy herself as Captain of the Enterprise would add a new dimension to her character in Star Trek: Legacy.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds handles time travel better than Star Trek: Picard. The focus on LA'an's journey and the impact of Khan's atrocities brings depth and character growth to the story. In Strange New Worlds, LA'an's encounter with Khan carries more weight than Picard meeting Renée. The moral question of whether to let Khan live or die reveals LA'an's character and fundamentally changes her. The time travel in Picard lacks focus and doesn't lead to meaningful character growth. Despite uncovering mysteries, nothing really changes for the main characters, including Jean-Luc Picard himself.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds explores the ever-popular time travel trope in season 2, episode 3, "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow", and handles it far better than Star Trek: Picard does in its messy second season. Star Trek: Picard Season 3 had all the elements fans wanted from a Tng Reunion except one thing. Star Trek: Picard Season 2 offered a cautionary social warning about 21st Century American issues. Gene Roddenberry wanted Star Trek to reflect the social issues of the day, and Picard Season 2 did that more than Season 3
The final season of Star Trek: Picard gave fans of The Next Generation everything they wanted from the reunion of those characters. The story was epic, less a season of television and more a cinematic trilogy of films. However, one element Picard Season 3 lacked that Season 2 had was the sociopolitical commentary Star Trek is known for. Gene Roddenberry created this universe nearly 60 years ago to hold up a mirror to the modern day, and the time-travel story from Picard Season 2 did that incredibly well.

Captain Seven of Nine's rise to command the USS Enterprise-g in Star Trek: Picard season 3 sets a precedent for other former Borg, like Agnes Jurati, to be accepted and valued by the Federation. Jurati, after merging with the Borg Queen, transformed the Borg Collective into benevolent allies of the Federation, potentially eliminating the threat of the original Borg. Star Trek: Legacy, the proposed spinoff, could explore the future of the Borg, focusing on their integration into a Federation that no longer fears them and how they can evolve beyond their previous galactic conquest ambitions.

Perhaps the most significant villains of Star Trek: The Next Generation and its era of the franchise were the Borg. A hive-mind collective, their only goal was conquest and assimilation of "biological and technological distinctiveness." Yet, Star Trek: First Contact revealed the Borg collective had a Queen, even though she never appeared in The Next Generation. Yet, the successive stories featuring the character explain why it took so long for her to surface.
Of course, the real reason the character never appeared in Star Trek: Tng is that she wasn't created until many years after the series ended. In the original script draft by writers Brannon Braga and Ronald D. Moore, titled Resurrection, the Borg were automatons like in the series. However, Paramount studio head Jonathan Dolgen said the script needed a singular villain for drama's sake, and the Borg Queen was created, according to the First Contact special features.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has made history with the first-ever musical episode in the franchise, overcoming previous unsuccessful attempts. Star Trek: Picard almost had a musical episode, but it never materialized, joining a list of failed attempts to create Star Trek musicals. The idea for a Picard musical may have originated from a musical cameo by Patrick Stewart's wife and a scene with Agnes Jurati singing influenced by the Borg Queen. The new Star Trek series, Strange New Worlds, successfully pulled off a musical episode after a lot of hard work and preparation, creating something truly special for fans.
Showrunner Akiva Goldsman has revealed that Star Trek: Picard almost did a musical episode before Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' history-making song-and-dance spectacle. Despite several attempts over the decades, there had never been a Star Trek musical until "Subspace Rhapsody". Ronald D. Moore had attempted it twice on both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, while Linda Park attempted to mount a musical episode for Star Trek: Enterprise.

Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) could have become the Borg King after Star Trek: Picard season 3 if his father, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), didn't save him. Star Trek: Picard season 3's thrilling conclusion saw Picard lead the USS Enterprise-d into the Borg Cube hiding in Jupiter. Jean-Luc rescued Jack, who had been assimilated by the Borg Queen (Alice Krige) and turned into Vox of Borg, before the Enterprise destroyed the Cube, ending the threat of the United Federation of Planets' greatest enemies at last.
The son of Jean-Luc Picard and Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), Jack Crusher is a child of cosmic destiny, but little did he realize that destiny was to become Vox of Borg. Jack suffered from terrifying visions and hearing voices as a child, but it was Beverly who ultimately determined that her son was born with organic Borg DNA he inherited from Jean-Luc from his time as Locutus of Borg.

The Borg received a serious upgrade in Star Trek: Picard season 3, and that evolution should continue despite the destruction of the Borg at Frontier Day. The Picard season 3, episode 9, entitled "Vox," revealed that the lifelong visions Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) suffered from were the result of Borg DNA that had been passed down from his father, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). When Jack confronted the Borg Queen (Alice Krige), she used him to assimilate every Starfleet officer under the age of 25 as part of a plot with the Changelings to destroy the Federation.

In The Rookie, deaths and other tragedies are to be expected, as these elements are part and parcel of any police procedural drama. The Rookie protagonist John Nolan has managed to come out of each shift relatively unscathed, but not everyone in the cast has been so lucky, whichever side of the law they may serve. Many of these deaths are shocking plot twists that no one saw coming, and each packs an emotional punch.
Indeed, while not too many characters from The Rookie cast die throughout its five seasons, this only makes each of The Rookie's deaths all the more upsetting, crushing, satisfying, or a mix of both. Moreover, certain deaths have left a bigger impact on viewers than others, leading to memorable moments in the long-running TV series.
