Phil Vickery(I)
Phil is an English celebrity chef well-known to English audiences for
his appearances on the popular cookery show Ready Steady Cook. He is
Married to the former host of Ready Steady Cook and This Morning, Fern
Britton.
He was born in Folkestone, Kent, and trained at restaurants in the Lake District before working at Gravetye Manor in West Sussex and Restaurant 74 in Canterbury. He then moved to Taunton in Somerset before becomming the head chef at the Castle Hotel. During his nine years there, among many awards, he won Michelin and Egon Ronay stars four years in a row, between 1994 and 1997.
Phil Vickery has written a number of popular cookery books, the first, "Just Food", was published by Headline in 1999.
He appears on the television programmes Ready Steady Cook and This Morning. He can often be seen contributing his culinary wisdom in the pages of magazines and has appeared in other TV shows such as ITV's Ten Mile Menu.
Vickery also brings his classic British cooking to This Morning each week, with recipe ideas for every occasion.
In September 2008, Vickery began advertising food products and promoting special offers for supermarket chain Aldi, after signing a two year deal with the chain.
He is also the current spokesperson for Unilever's Stork brand margarine and was appointed Food Ambassador in March 2010 by Coeliac UK.
