While the movie business has experienced a concerning degree of commercial and critical turbulence over the first three months of 2025, television has stepped up to provide entertainment seekers an impressive array of captivating new series, as well as stellar new seasons from returning shows. "Severance" just stuck the landing at the end of its celebrated second season, "The White Lotus" is back doing its darkly comedic thing with possibly its strongest cast to date, and "The Studio" is a brilliantly brutal Hollywood satire that takes no prisoners in showing viewers how the showbiz sausage is made.

Harley Quinnjust aired its Season 5 finale, and while there is no official announcement for Season 6, the series' showrunner has plans for the future. Harley Quinn's latest season of television shook up the formula by having Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) move to Metropolis in a very Superman-centric season that brought in characters like Lena Luthor, Lois Lane, and Brainiac. However, the season ended with Harley Quinn and Ivy back in their old Gotham City apartment from the beginning of the series, surrounded by their friends and family stronger than ever. The season's final moments don't tease a new threat but instead show Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy jumping out of their apartment to go out in Gotham City.
Following the finale, Harley Quinn showrunner Dean Lorey spoke with Collider about the open-ended finale for Season 5. While he hopes to see it continue, the finale ends on a positive note,...

Maria Sharapova’s height of 6ft 1 ¼ (186.1 cm) is considered tall, not just compared to the average Russian woman but also in general. For comparison, Serena Williams is 5′ 9″ (175 cm), while Naomi Osaka is only 5ft 9 ¾ (177.2 cm).
The average height for women varies by country, but in Russia, the average height for adult women is around 5ft 5in (165 cm). Therefore, Sharapova’s height is significantly above average for both Russian women and women in general.

Talk about life imitating art, imitating life. About a month ago, Amanda Peet told IndieWire during a recent interview, something funny and mortifying happened to her at the grocery store in front of her two teenage daughters. Someone recognized the actress. Well, sort of. They said hello, and complimented her on her work. And then it became clear that this person “recognized” her as Lake Bell, and complimented her on Lake Bell’s work.
This has happened before. It’s happened enough, in fact, that Peet encouraged her “Fantasy Life” filmmaker and co-star Matthew Shear to include it in his feature directorial debut, in which Peet plays an actress who, yup, often gets mistaken for Lake Bell. It’s funny, and it’s a little sad, and it’s incredibly honest, and it speaks to the spirit in which Shear, a Noah Baumbach regular and former star of the series “The Alienist,...

Currently, the acrobatic anti-hero of Gotham, voiced by Kaley Cuoco, has taken her business to Metropolis, the homestead of Superman himself. While fans wait to hear about renewal news for the next season, Lorey and his team are already thinking of new and exciting prospects for Harley and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell).

With a new job, Harley Quinn prepares for a day in the city. However, almost immediately, things go sideways. Harley Quinn now must take on the biggest newspaper in Metropolis, but lucky for her, she has a man on the inside. “Bottle My Heart” gets into the silliness of Clayface’s plan, so of course it intersects with the Brainaic threat. When things spiral out of control within the newsroom, Harley and the gang make an unusual commitment to bringing a musical to the stage.

Whether you believe the superhero bubble has burst or not, it's fair to say that very little in terms of the genre can truly be considered "novel" or "boundary-pushing" anymore ... but leave it to "Harley Quinn," the animated show about some of DC's baddest villains, to continue bucking that trend. Much like its title character, the streaming series' arc has hardly been a conventional one. Originally debuting in 2019 on a long-forgotten standalone service known as DC Universe (it wasn't very impressive, as our review at the time proved), the series survived the move to what was known at the time as HBO Max before finally finding a home on Max. Now running for five seasons strong, "Harley Quinn" is set to take its biggest and boldest swing yet. And, honestly, this should be making much more pop culture noise than it currently is.

After previously exploring Ivy's (Lake Bell) backstory in Arkham Asylum with Harley (Kaley Cuoco), the latest installment in the hit DC series revisits the incident that created the eco-friendly supervillain when Ivy visits Lena Luthor's (Aisha Taylor) Green Initiative. Taken by surprise when she's introduced to her partner in the project, Dr. Jason Woodrue (John Slattery), a series of flashbacks subsequently explores the pair's history, and the episode gradually unveils a backstory for Ivy that is even more heartbreaking than it previously seemed.

After leaving the horrible-smelling and crime-ridden city of Gotham, they’re joining the too-clean-for it’s own good Metropolis. “The Mess Is the Point” confronts also provides some backstory for this version of the DC universe. Serving as both a backstory for Ivy and setting up the future, “The Mess is the Point” hits its marks. Along the way, also helps Harley and Ivy adjust to their new lives.

2025 is an exciting year for animated TV shows, with plenty of new releases being highly anticipated by audiences. Such shows span a variety of genres, from lighthearted comedy series to dark fantasy action series. The remainder of the new year sees shows both old and new premiering exciting stories that are expected to be well worth the wait. Some of the biggest shows returning in 2025 are beloved animated series like Invincible, Harley Quinn, and Castlevania: Nocturne.
One of the most inspiring premieres in 2025 is Devil May Cry, an adaptation of the eponymous video game, starring Johnny Yong Bosch. Disney+ alone has several upcoming animated series, including Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Eyes of Wakanda, and Win or Lose. Though there are plenty of additional animated series expected to return or premiere in 2025, a majority of these shows have been given a specific release date, allowing audiences to confidently prepare for the entertaining animated stories to come.

Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for 'Harley Quinn' Season 5.Harley Quinn kicked off its fifth season premiere, "The Big Apricot," with a change of pace: Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and Ivy (Lake Bell) move to Metropolis to shake up their relationship. Not only does this give the chaotic couple the spark they've been looking for, but it also leads to a surprising interaction with Superman (James Wolk) that sets the stage for the rest of the season. It also gives Warner Bros. a bit of unintended synergy, especially as the Man of Steel will take center stage in James Gunn's Superman reboot this summer. But Harley lets slip a surprising detail: The Gotham City Sirens, the team she formed with Barbara Gordon (Briana Cuoco) and Catwoman (Cherise Boothe) has disbanded — which feels like a major waste of potential.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Harley Quinn season 5, episode 1Harley Quinn season 5 might not have been talked about much before its release due to the focus on James Gunn's DC Universe, but I have to say it will likely turn heads. I'm a fan of the show and the expanded universe it has created, which now includes a Kite Man spinoff series. That kind of worldbuilding, presenting a lived-in world from the start full of established heroes and villains, is exactly what Gunn is going for with the Dcu, and Harley Quinn could teach the franchise some lessons.

Harley Quinn Season 5 Score (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Harley Quinn returns for its fifth season on Max, continuing its unconventional take on DC’s most chaotic anti-hero. Despite DC struggling for over a decade, the unapologetic form of Dr. Harleen Quinzel has thrived, branching out three Margot Robbie movies in the DC Extended Universe and now surpassing even Batman: The Animated Series’ four-season run. Not to mention, it has also gotten a spin-off, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!
While it is devotedly followed by a strong fanbase, early reviews suggest cracks in Harley Quinn’s continued success. Once again voiced by The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco, the latest season debuted with an 89% score on Rotten Tomatoes—a notable drop from its earlier highs. While 89% seems respectable, it pales compared to the show’s perfect 100% ratings for Seasons 2 and 3. Even Season 4 saw a dip to 96%, making this consecutive decline in critical reception hard to ignore.

This week might see the end of Creature Commandos' debut season, but DC fans shouldn't fret: another R-rated animated adventure is heading their way with Harley Quinn Season 5. The latest installment of the popular animated series will see Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) moving from Gotham to Metropolis, but having to deal with the new problems that Superman's home city will bring — including the sinister artificial intelligence Brainiac (Stephen Fry). Before Season 5 whisks us into yet another whirlwind of inappropriately entertaining blood, sex, and violence, here's a recap of everything that happened during Season 4 of Harley Quinn — and don't worry, we didn't forget everyone's favorite sad sack Bane (James Adomian).

The best Alan Tudyk movies and TV shows include a strong mix of comedy and action roles and a career full of animated voiceover roles. Tudyk got his start in the entertainment industry in 1997 when he picked up a role in the independent film 35 Miles from Normal, which earned him more attention, including a role in the Robin Williams film Patch Adams, where he played one of the patients in that medical comedy-drama. He got his biggest notice thanks to his supporting role in Heath Ledger’s A Knight’s Tale in 2001.
However, most people know Tudyk from his television roles and his animated voice projects. For his television roles, his most popular are as Wash in Firefly and as Harry in Resident Alien, making him a popular actor for sci-fi and genre fans. 'Harley Quinn' Season 5 Delivers a 100% Rotten Tomatoes Score Ahead of Streaming Debut on January 16

Harley Quinn’s return to Max may have taken a little longer than originally planned, but it seems to have been well worth the wait. The fifth season will debut on January 16, and critics have been having their say ahead of the premiere, landing it with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score from its first six reviews.
The animated series, which sees Kaley Cuoco voicing the titular DC icon, has been one of the constant and consistent high points for Max over the last several years. Debuting in 2019, the first season introduced the new Harley to an adult audience with all of its violent, foul-mouthed goodness that would make the series a standout among Warner Bros. DC output, and massively outclass almost every live-action show and movie released under the franchise in the last five years.

Harley Quinn is one of the most interesting offerings DC has ever had. Clearly taking inspiration from both Margot Robbie's version of the character and DC Comics, the TV-ma animated series has no fears, exploring several different corners of the DC Universe. Following Creature Commandos season 1, those wanting another dose of bloody, hilarious adult animation with DC characters should check out Harley Quinn season 5. The new year of the TV show makes a good case for why James Gunn should keep it around for years to come as an Elseworlds project.
Developed by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey, Harley Quinn is a Max original series focusing on Harley Quinn, the former therapist led astray by the Joker. The show sees Harley learn that the Joker truly doesn't love her and decides to find her place in the world without him - and cause a little mayhem along the way.

Season 3 of What If…? recently arrived on Disney+ over the holiday season, and once again, The Watcher (Jeffrey Wright) takes audiences through various narratives of what could have been as he travels the multiverse and through the prism of time. A show unlike any other in the MCU, it offers audiences numerous accounts of some of their favorite characters, some of whom haven’t appeared in any of the live-action films or shows. As such, the series is an excellent opportunity for many characters to finally make their way from the comics to the screen.
Aside from breathing life into overlooked characters, the series is great because it allows for various Marvel stories to be told without the restrictions live-action adaptations often present. The Marvel Television Animated Series What If...? has ended after 3 seasons, with the final installment finishing its run this past week. While there were plenty of surprises for fans of both the comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies, one notable standout was the appearance of Storm, a mutant and X-Men member, who wields Mjölnir in the penultimate episode of the series. While the X-Men 97 series has brought the Mutants back to prominence again, seeing one in an McU-related television show was a big deal, especially since the previous appearance of an X-Man in an MCU project was Hugh Jackman's Logan in Deadpool & Wolverine.
In an interview with Agents of Fandom, What If...? episode Director Bryan Andrews spoke about how, had he known the access Marvel Studios would have to the various Mutant characters, the final season of the animated series may have changed entirely. Specifically to include one incredibly popular character.

DC has an interesting slate of movies and shows coming in 2025 to kick off a new period for the franchise!
2024 was, in many ways, the end of an era for DC Comics. The Dceu, with its tortured history, ended with the year prior with Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom sinking fast, so there weren't any new films from that franchise this year. The CW's Arroweverse also closed out after 12 years with Superman and Lois, while their animated film universe also ended with the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy.
It's a new day for DC Comics on TV and film, with James Gunn and Peter Safran crafting a new DC Universe. There have been shifts as The Batman II is now delayed until 2026, and other projects are in the works. Sundance added 57 short films to its impressive 2025 lineup on Monday, including new films starring Dagmara Domińcyzk, J. Smith Cameron, Kenneth Lonergan, and Martin Starr.
“Our program would never be complete without a curation of outstanding short films, and we’re excited to share the 2025 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Program today,” said Kim Yutani, Sundance Film Festival Director of Programming. “These projects are varied in style and substance, but across all categories, they represent the power of short-form storytelling beautifully.”
“Our Short Film Program celebrates fresh styles and unique stories. The short run time encourages innovation,” said Mike Plante, Senior Programmer, Short Film. “Audiences will find much of the next generation of film talent here, with raw, exciting and inspired filmmaking from around the world in each of our eight programs.”
According to the Sundance press release, “The 57 short films selected for the 2025 Sundance Film Festival were chosen from 11,153 submissions.

The Max animated series "Harley Quinn" is an irreverent, raunchy comedy that takes the worlds and characters of DC Comics and runs with them in new and unexpected ways. Since the series debuted in 2019, it's given us the love story between Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) that comic fans have always wanted and deserved, helped Harley fully evolve from the Joker's sidekick to a kind of hero in her own right, and has even delivered a Joker (Alan Tudyk) that feels new and refreshing despite the fact that Jokers are currently a dime a dozen. Now, in the new trailer for season 5, it looks like the show is about to run wild with one of the biggest "Teen Titans" mysteries.
It appears that Red X, the character created for the 2004 "Teen Titans" animated series who has also shown up in the "Titans Go!" comic books, is going...
