David Benioff at an event for Game of Thrones (2011)
Earth makes first contact in a Netflix adaptation of the world-renowned, bestselling series of sci fi novels. And who better to adapt those books than "Game of Thrones" creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Based on Cixin Liu's trilogy, "Remembrance of Earth's Past," the "3 Body Problem" series follows Ye (Rosalind Chao), an astrophysicist working at a secret Chinese military base. A concerned alien contacts Ye and warns her to cease the search for intelligent life, because the alien's planet would invade as soon as their kind learns Earth exists. Disillusioned with humankind, Ye contacts the Trisolaris aliens anyway. And now, Earth has 450 years to prepare itself for a full-scale occupation. Also starring Eiza González, Benedict Wong, and Jovan Adepo, plus, Jonathan Pryce, John Bradley, and Liam Cunningham all reteaming with the "Game of Thrones" creators, "3 Body Problem" spans years and galaxies to answer scary existential questions, like ... Why are we here? Are we alone? And if there is life out there, why hasn't it contacted us ... until now? "3 Body Problem" premieres on Netflix in Jan 2024.

[on Game of Thrones (2011)] Wiser network heads might have said 'You can't kill Sean Bean nine episodes into your show'. Guess what? The lead dies. That's why HBO is HBO. They break all the rules.
