There was also the fact that viewers knew, through 12 seasons of meted-out backstory, Sheldon didn't have a particularly enjoyable childhood. Most importantly, we knew that he resented his father, who, according to Sheldon, was a philandering drunk.

We now know that showrunners Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland eschewed the soundstage-bound, multi-camera aesthetic of "The Big Bang Theory" in favor of a single-camera approach that, tonally, sought to evoke the winsome nostalgia of "The Wonder Years." There are a lot of fun character dynamics on display throughout "Young Sheldon," but I'd argue the most charming is the relationship between Missy (Raegan Revord) and Sheldon (Iain Armitage). They might be fraternal twins, but Missy is bad at school and great with people while Sheldon is, well, the opposite. Yet, even though the two have nothing in common, they're still there for each other whenever it counts. Take for instance the moment in the season 4 finale, "The Wild and Woolly World of Nonlinear Dynamics," where Missy wants to run away and Sheldon follows her. 

"I'm sorry, but I can't let you wander at night by yourself. I'm your big brother," Sheldon tells her. When Missy points out that they're twins, Sheldon responds, "I was born two minutes earlier, which apparently makes me responsible for you ... I'm not happy about it either, but here we are." Young Sheldon was set to focus on the early life of Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage), the break-out character from the sitcom The Big Bang Theory, played by Jim Parsons as an adult in that show. But as the show continued through its seven-season run, the attention shifted focus to the entire Cooper family.

This included parents George Sr. (Lance Barber) and Mary (Zoe Perry), older brother Georgie (Montana Jordan), twin sister Missy (Raegan Revord), and grandmother Connie “Meemaw” (Annie Potts). There were other supporting characters who got their own storylines, too. But fans believe that by the end, one character in particular was overlooked and should have gotten more screen time than she did. The Case of the Week is set in motion by Jimmy’s daughter Victoria (played by Brian Dietzen’s real-life kid, Elle Graper) revealing to Special Agent Nick —and not her dad, who is “just an M.E.” — that she had found a cache of cash when out one night, though she lied about where, at first, because she had quietly bailed on participating in the school science fair this year, much to her father’s dismay.

I loved Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 1, episode 12, titled "Typhoid Georgie." It had everything that makes great TV. It had emotional output, storylines, character arcs, and comedic deliverance. "Typhoid Georgie" additionally sheds more light on Mandy's attitude toward life improvement.

"Typhoid Georgie" is another episode that depicts Georgie as a well-centered family man with a fierce desire for success, even if it means working with a nasty cold that could inflict anyone who comes near him. However, the reasoning goes deeper than wanting to be a provider with money and his strong work ethic, as it was subconsciously ingrained through someone remarkably close to Georgie.

Mandy finally hit a high note in her broadcasting endeavor, but instead of having a full one-on-one conversation with Georgie about how it could impact their married life, she clearly allows her ego and self-assurance take over. There's noting wrong with having the drive,...

It's hard being the middle child, even if you're technically the youngest. Missy (Raegan Revord) may be younger than Sheldon by a grand two minutes, but given Sheldon's general emotional immaturity taking up so much of the family's attention, it's always felt like Missy was the middle child. While her older brother was off getting a 29-year-old woman pregnant while he was only 17 and her younger brother was heading off to college at 11 years old, the normal and unexciting Missy has often been forgotten by both her mother and father. 

Sure, this is perhaps the most understandable case of middle-child neglect we've ever seen, but it's still gotta sting for Missy, who was even ignored a little in the series finale. With her father dead, her mother deep in grief, and her brothers moving away, Missy doesn't seem to have many people in her life she can talk to about her problems.

Lance Barber was the latest Young Sheldon actor to appear in the sequel series Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. Barber reprised his Georgie Sr. character for several dream sequences as Georgie (Montana Jordan) struggled with complicated feelings. While other Young Sheldon characters have the luxury of dropping by when needed, George doesn't because he died in the final episodes of the show. TV Line talked to executive producer Steve Holland about just how much viewers can anticipate seeing George's dream sequences now that the door has been opened.
