Independent filmmaker Nishan Bhujel is a native of Nepal (born in 2002) and has worked in Nepal and India for the past five years as a writer, director, cinematographer, and editor. Nishan's work started by making hip-hop music videos for Nepali artists when he was 16 years old, which quickly got him recognition in the industry. Just a year after getting into filmmaking, at 17, he went to India to create music videos for the number one artist in the country, Emiway Bantai where he created 7 music videos that received millions of views and positive reviews.
He became known for his work on "Firse Machayenge" which has gained close to 500MILION VIEWS on YouTube to date. During the pandemic, he wrote and directed two short films, STARVING and FELO-DE-SE.
His film STARVING (2020, 6min)- told the story of a destitute man's struggle to live during the pandemic along with his dog. This short thrillingly explores the underlying themes of survival and humanity. Later that year, he made an experimental short FELO-DE-SE (2min) which metaphorically contemplates the concept of self-destruction. After the pandemic, he directed several creative music videos.
At 19, he began writing a story that was born to steer away from the turmoil of writing the screenplay for his first feature film. This story later turned out to be his debut book titled "The Egg of Life" which is set to be released in August 2022.
He is currently back in the development phase of his debut feature film, set to release by the end of 2022.
