Daria Zueva is a Russian-Ukrainian-Dutch actress, producer and singer.
Early life and career
Zueva was born in Smolensk, Soviet Union. At the age of 17, she moved with her mother to Moscow, where she studied acting and film at the Institute of Modern Art from 2007 to 2011. During her studies she began to work in the theater. In 2012, Daria played a role in the musical Mamma Mia! on Moscow produced by Stage Entertainment. She continued to work in theatre in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and in 2019, she appeared in the musical Hipsters at the Theatre of Nations in Moscow, known as «Stilyagi». She has also played guest roles in TV series.
Life in the Netherlands from 2018
In 2018, Zueva moved to the Netherlands and in 2021 she officially became Dutch. She resumed her career there as a dance extra in the film Life Is Wonderful in 2018 and a short film, Exodus, by director Guido F.G. Jeurissen, premiered in 2020 at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. In 2022, she played the role of Jelena in an episode of season 2 of the detective series "Van dear Valk" directed by Jean van de Velde. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, she organized a musical theatre performance Be a Tree with her theatre group in different Dutch cities to benefit Ukrainian refugee children, among other things.
In 2023, Zueva made her debut as a producer in the short film "Burden" by Stephan Brenninkmeijer, in which she played the leading role of Masha. Later this film played in Dutch cinemas in a compilation of short films, Almanac: women to love.
Music
She sang in the musical TV show All Together Now of Endemol Shine Group in 2020. Her first album in English called The Power of a Woman was released under the name Daria Zu in 2023, and she sang in the musical TV show I Can See Your Voice on RTL4 of Warner Bros. Through her company "Let the sunshine in", she coaches singing and acting.
