Eugenio Mira
Eugenio Mira (born in Castalla, Alicante) is a Spanish film director, writer, and musician.

After finishing his studies in high school and as a piano player, he moved to Madrid in 1995 to attend at Septima Ars film school, working in the Spanish film industry as a first assistant director, in the art department and the advertising world. His debut short film, Fade (2000) called the attention of Guillermo Del Toro, who supported his career from the very beginning, introducing him to his agent, Robert Newman (WME).

His first long feature film, The Birthday (2004) has acquired a cult following over the years since it was shown at the first edition of Fantastic Fest (Austin, TX), where Mira has been world premiering his movies since then: the Gothic tale Agnosia (2010) and Grand Piano (2013), starring Elijah Wood and John Cusack (released in the US by Magnet/Magnolia Pictures).

Mira has also worked as a creative consultant and 2nd Unit director in international productions such as The Impossible, (2011), A Monster Calls (2016), and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), all directed by Juan Antonio Bayona (The Society of the Snow, 2023).

As an occasional actor, Mira incarnated a younger Robert De Niro in Red Lights (Rodrigo Cortés, 2011).

As a musician, in 2011 Mira released the first album from his musical project Pagana (stylized as P ^ G ^ N ^) on his own film and record label Paramirama.

Besides writing the music for his films, Mira (usually signing as "Chucky Namanera") has collaborated with fellow filmmakers such as Nacho Vigalondo, scoring his debut film Timecrimes (released in the US on vinyl by Mondo), and Paco Plaza's Veronica (2017), a horror film that brought him his first nomination as a composer at the Goya Awards in 2018.

In 2022 Mira directed the whole season of HBO Max's series "GARCIA!" and took care of the soundtrack (released by WaterTower Music). The series world premiered at Fantastic Fest (Austin, TX) and Sitges Film Festival (Barcelona, Spain), receiving several nominations in different award ceremonies, including Best Foreign Language TV series at the Critics Choice Awards (2023).

In 2024, Mira is planning the 20th anniversary release of his debut film, The Birthday.
