‘Sheriff Country’: Morena Baccarin Talks ‘Darker’ Spinoff and ‘Fire Country’ Crossovers
Image
The huge success of CBS’s Fire Country has ignited a spinoff, Sheriff Country, starring Morena Baccarin as Sheriff Mickey Fox, aunt to Bode Leone, played by Max Thieriot, executive producer and co-creator of both programs. TV Insider caught up with Baccarin on the CBS Fest 2025 blue carpet on the Paramount Studios lot last week to chat about the new show, set to debut this fall on the eye network. “I would say [Sheriff Country] is darker, a little more raw, a little edgier,” says Baccarin when asked to differentiate between the two programs. “We’re dealing with some illegal activity.” As viewers of Fire Country have seen, that illegal activity involves Mickey’s dad, Wes (W. Earl Brown), running an illegal weed business. Can Wes continue to grow his pot business and manage to also have a healthy relationship with his daughter? “I think that’s pretty much a dealbreaker,...

Masters Of The Universe Set Photos Feature First Look At Camila Mendes In Costume As Teela
Image
As filming on the live-action Masters of the Universe movie continues in London, these latest photos and a video from the set give us a first glimpse of Camila Mendes in full costume as Teela.

The Riverdale star was spotted shooting several scenes (including an action sequence) with Nicholas Galitzine, who is in Prince Adam mode here. We assume Teela comes to Earth to bring the amnesiac Adam back to his home world of Eternia, where he will fulfil his destiny as He-Man.

Teela has been a permanent fixture of the Motu franchise ever since those first mini-comics, and is usually depicted as Prince Adam's protector and He-Man's right-hand woman/love-interest.

The character was played by Chelsea Field in the previous live-action movie, and was voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar in Netflix's Masters of the Universe: Revelation animated series before being replaced by Melissa Benoist.

Teela has donned a...

Say Goodbye to Another TV Family as NBC Cancels Fan-Favorite Sitcom After 3 Seasons
Image
George Lopez’s latest sitcom, Lopez vs. Lopez, will not be getting a fourth season. The fan-favorite show was canceled at NBC, per Deadline, and is the latest sitcom to get the axe this year. ABC’s The Connersalso ended its run this spring.

The news of Lopez vs. Lopez’s cancelation came at NBC’s network upfronts, which also included an announcement that Night Court is also not being renewed. Both shows had been on the “bubble” at the network. The sitcom, starring George Lopez, Mayan Lopez, Matt Shively, Bruce Gonzalez, Selenis Leyva, and Al Madrigal had the distinction of being one of the first network comedies that featured a Latino family as a dysfunctional one, a-la Roseanne.

The similarities between Roseanne, The Conners, and Lopez vs. Lopez were likely not coincidental, as Bruce Helford, who helmed the two classic sitcoms, also served as an executive producer on Lopez vs.

The world of Yellowstone is getting a new outpost — and a new network.

CBS has ordered a spinoff of the hit western as part of its 2025-26 slate. Currently titled Y: Marshals (with the “Y” standing for Yellowstone, naturally), the show will star Luke Grimes, who will reprise his role as Kayce Dutton from the flagship series as he joins an “elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy Seal to bring range justice to Montana,” per the show’s logline. It’s set to premiere in spring 2026 and is one of seven new series the network will roll out next season.

"My Part Is Done": 'Masters of the Universe' Star Teases Her Mysterious Role in the Live-Action Movie [Exclusive]
Image
Venerable fantasy franchise Masters of the Universe is headed back to theaters next year, with director Travis Knight at the helm. Saturday Night Live alum Sasheer Zamata will star in the film, but her character is something of a mystery. While most of the film's characters have years of established lore and action figures associated with them, Zamata is playing someone named "Suzie," whom we know very little about. Collider's Taylor Gates spoke to Zamata about the upcoming film while she was promoting her MCU TV series, Agatha All Along.

When asked what she could say about the film, Zamata couldn't share too much, but she could reveal the comedic nature of her role:

"I have no idea what I can tease. [Laughs] But I finished shooting it. I think they're still shooting the movie, but my part is done. It's very fun, and that one — for me — is actually more comedy,...

Jason Statham’s Highest-Rated Movie Gets a Shockingly Optimistic Sequel Update From Director
Image
Not long after one of Jason Statham’s most underrated movies made quite a successful run on streaming charts, his highest-rated project of his career just got a juicy sequel update. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year is Spy, the caper comedy in which Statham stars alongside Jude Law, Melissa McCarthy, and more. Spy is currently the highest-rated movie of Statham’s career according to Rotten Tomatoes with a 95% rating, and it grossed over $235 million at the global box office. The film was written and directed by Paul Feig (Another Simple Favor), who is notorious for staying away from sequels. However, during a recent interview with HeyUGuys to promote Another Simple Favor, Feig was asked if there was any chance of a Spy ever getting a sequel, and he wouldn’t rule it out:

"If there was ever going to be another one of my movies that would have a...

‘Firefly’ Cast: What Are They Doing in 2025?
Image
Nathan Fillion’s Firefly aired only eleven out of its fourteen episodes when Fox abruptly cancelled the series. The show didn’t have the necessary ratings to justify its budget, but received a cult following after its cancellation. There were calls for its revival, and the actors of the series often got together at Comic Cons to reminisce about their experience.

Firefly was set 500 years into the future, when humans have entered a new star system. The series followed the adventures of a group of misfits aboard the Serenity, a Firefly-class spaceship. This group of nine anti-heroes was led by Fillion’s Malcolm Reynolds.

While a revival rumor is still in the air, the stars of the series have moved on. Nathan Fillion, Morena Baccarin, Gina Torres, and Alan Tudyk have all gone on to build great careers for themselves and are actively part of successful projects. Here’s...

Masters Of The Universe Set Photos Tease Zodak, King Hiss, And Characters From She-ra
Image
We recently got our first (distant) glimpse of Castle Grayskull and several costumed actors - one of whom might just have been Jared Leto as Skeletor - on the set of the live-action Masters of the Universe movie, and thanks to ForEternia.com, we now have a look at a huge map of Eternia - complete with some very interesting illustrations.

Some zoomed in (though still not the clearest) shots of the figures surrounding the map reveal what appear to be depictions of a number of supporting characters, including Zodak and King Hiss, as well as Bow, Netossa, and Perfuma from She-Ra!

Zodak, aka the Cosmic Enforcer, is a powerful, immortal Eternian who is a sword enemy of the Snake Men, led by King Hiss. While it's not particularly surprising to see these figures from the lore's ancient history on a map, we did not expect to see any She-Ra references in the movie.

As Fire Country Fizzles, Sheriff Country Unveils Impressive New Cast Members — Can the Spinoff Succeed?
Image
There’s been so much chatter about the future of Fire Country after some significant departures that I forgot Sheriff Country was gearing up for its launch during the 2025-26 season.

All we knew about the spinoff was that Morena Baccarin would be at the wheel in the role of Mickey Fox.

We already met Mickey on Fire Country, with the mothership series revealing she is Cal Fire division chief Sharon Leone’s stepsister.

(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS)

It was a compelling way to connect these two universes, but beyond that, there were many questions about who else would be on Sheriff Country.

Now, we have our answer. Deadline reports that CSI: Vegas veteran Matt Lauria has scored a series regular role in the upcoming offshoot.

Exclusive: Gotham and The O.C. star Ben McKenzie has made his feature directorial debut on documentary Everyone Is Lying To You For Money, a scathing portrait of the world of cryptocurrency, which will receive its world premiere at SXSW London in June.

Deadpool & Wolverine Was One Of 2024's Most Profitable Movies - Here's How Much The R-Rated MCU Title Made
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine broke box office records when it opened in theaters this time last year, scoring the highest opening weekend ever for an R-Rated movie.

The Marvel Studios movie ultimately grossed $1.338 billion worldwide, proving to Hollywood pundits that all their talk of "superhero fatigue" had come too soon. However, it was also a stark reminder for the studio that people will now only turn up for an MCU movie when it's a true must-see event.

Deadline has crunched the numbers and revealed that, despite "massive participations at $130M for [Ryan] Reynolds, [Hugh] Jackman and [Shawn] Levy," Deadpool & Wolverine turned a $400 million profit.

That's more than all of 2023's superhero movies, including Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse ($328 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ($124 million).

Reynolds has remained firm in saying that Deadpool 4 isn't on the horizon. However, we'd have to believe Disney is willing to give him whatever he wants to...

The 5 Best & 5 Worst Movies About Ancient Egypt
Image
While the world has been fascinated with the mysteries of ancient Egypt since Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon stole all the credit for the glorious reveal of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922 from the local diggers and historians, the truth of those mysteries rest better in the hands of Egyptians today. And there are still mysteries and wonders aplenty, from the way its colorful mythology slowly blended — syncretized — with the Roman occupiers that gradually wore away the country's golden monarchy, to its early understandings of science and math that remain lost.

It's a tough period of time for amateur historians who love the occasional pop culture dive; unlike other history buffs with their Medieval costume dramas and the upcoming Christopher Nolan-helmed version of "The Odyssey," there's not much that truly digs into the dynastic periods of Egypt. It's mostly Biblical-era epics, the occasional Roman overlap, and some hilariously bad science fiction...

Jon Voight and Keenen Ivory Wayans in Most Wanted (1997)
Amid CBS Cancellations, There Are New Spinoffs Coming
Jon Voight and Keenen Ivory Wayans in Most Wanted (1997)
CBS got lethal with cutting some favorite shows, but there are some renewals and even some new spinoffs coming. Read on to find out more about them.

The Cancellations Are Upsetting

People grow up watching their favorite series and shows, so cancellations are nearly always met with disapproval. However, amid six cancellations, there is at least some hope for TV addicts. The shocker was the cancellation of FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International, and S.W.A.T. from Universal TV studios.

Others reported were Blue Bloods, Poppa’s House, and The Summit. Probably nobody will miss The Summit too much as it only ran for one season. However, Variety noted that there were some popular renewals.

Renewals & Spinoffs

The greenlit shows on CBS for the 2025-2026 season include:

NCIS, NCIS: Origins, NCIS: Sydney, Tracker, George & Mandie’s First Marriage, Hollywood Squares, Elsabeth, Fire Country, and Ghosts.

Two new spinoffs arrive, and one of them stars Donnie Wahlberg.

Deadpool & Wolverine Star Ryan Reynolds On Wade's MCU Future: "I'm Writing A Little Something Right Now"
Image
We're sure Wade Wilson will show up in the MCU again at some point (there's no way Marvel Studios would leave the character on the shelf for too long after the massive success of Deadpool and Wolverine), but we still don't know when and where the Merc With a Mouth will return.

Rumors persist that Deadpool will appear in one or both of the upcoming Avengers movies, but Reynolds was not part of the initial Doomsday cast announcement, and the actor doesn't seem overly keen on mixing it up with Earth's Mightiest Heroes - or the X-Men - in a more grounded setting.

During a new interview with Time, Reynolds was asked about the possibility of Wade playing a "supporting role" in one of the next big MCU event films.

Though he doesn't completely dismiss the idea, he notes: "If [Deadpool] becomes an Avenger or an X-Man, we're at the end.

Gerard Butler’s 45% Rotten Tomatoes Conspiracy Thriller Will Flee From Streaming Next Month
Image
Gerard Butler has movies scattered across every streaming service, but one of them is due to depart its home soon. Butler stars alongside Dune: Prophecy veteran Travis Fimmel in Kandahar, the 2023 conspiracy thriller following a CIA operative and his translator who flee from special forces in Afghanistan after exposing a covert mission. Kandahar has been streaming on Hulu for months now, but the streamer has announced that it will depart the platform on May 31, which still leaves more than a month for Butler’s fans to check out the film. Kandahar finished its run in theaters after grossing only $9 million, and the film earned a 45% rating from critics but a solid 82% rating from general audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

Mitchell Lafortune wrote the screenplay for Kandahar, and Ric Roman Waugh was tapped to direct the film. Lafortune’s only other writing credit in his career has come from Last Breath,...

Sheriff Country continues to expand the franchise with (two) exciting cast additions
Image
Fire Country has continued its red hot ascent up the ratings on CBS, and now, its eyes are set on a spinoff. Sheriff Country, which is set to follow characters introduced in the main series, is set to air during the 2025-26 season. We've already met Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin), but Sheriff Country recently added faces that will be brand new to the franchise.

Christopher Gorham has been cast as Travis, the ex-husband of Mickey Fox. The two share a child together, a daughter named Skye, and remain forces in each others lives, which can sometimes lead to complicated feelings. Travis and Mickey are split up, but it doesn't mean the possibility of romance is completely off the table.

Image
As the highly anticipated spin-off series Sheriff Country starts to take shape at CBS, new names start getting added to the slate of main stars. Today, the network announced through Deadline two pretty big newcomers that will help elevate the story of the new procedural series: Christopher Gorham and Michele Weaver have joined the show as series regulars. The spin-off is yet to get a release date, but at this point CBS is eyeing the 2025-2026 schedule to debut the first season, probably close to its mothership series Fire Country.

7 sci-fi/fantasy shows cancelled too soon
Image
Sometimes we can't help but wonder what television channels or streaming services were thinking when canceling a TV show. Viewership and cost are the usual suspects behind why a fan favorite TV show doesn't last as long as it should, but that doesn't mean it was a failure.

We're taking a look back at seven science fiction and fantasy shows that we cancelled way too soon, beginning with a show that everyone can agree on:

Firefly

Fans young and old can agree that Firefly was cancelled too soon, after only one season. Created by Joss Whedon and starring Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Gina Torres, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, and Ron Glass, this legendary science fiction show from 2002 has one of the most powerful fan bases on the planet.

Love, action, and humor abound aboard the spaceship Serenity, where our wacky band of space-faring outlaws lived and worked together.

“Something you’d hear in a sports arena”: The Exact Moment ‘Firefly’ Stars Realized the Show Was Immortal After Fox Canceled It
Image
Nathan Fillion’s Firefly had a cancellation in the cards long before the actual news came. The ratings were low despite the fans, who got to see it, loving the space Western. These fans saw the possibility of Fox axing the show and started a campaign to save the show. It was just a sign of what was to come after Fox cancelled the series.

The network didn’t wait to air all of its episodes, instead cancelling the series after airing just eleven out of fourteen produced episodes. Fox immediately replaced it with another crime action series, Fastlane. However, fans soon proved that Fox made a huge mistake.

Once the completed version of Firefly began rebroadcasting, fans flocked in to watch the show. They saw that Joss Whedon had a vision that was unlike anything on TV at the time. The fanbase only grew in number and called themselves the Browncoats.

X-men Origins: Wolverine Stars Hugh Jackman And Liev Schreiber Reunite In "Now And Then" BTS Photo
Image
Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber played the leads in the much-maligned X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009, and fans have been hoping to see the actors reunite as Logan and Victor Creed/Sabertooth in the MCU.

Unfortunately, Schreiber is not likely to don the claws and fangs of Wolverine's nemesis again, but Jackman has now revealed that they will be working together again on two upcoming plays.

The Deadpool and Wolverine star shared the following "now and then" behind-the-scenes photo to social media.

Now and then! Amazing to be back in a rehearsal studio again with @LievSchreiber. While we are in two distinctly different plays, most are back to back. Masters Of The Universe Set Photos Reveal Castle Grayskull, Prince Adam, And A Possible First Look At Skeletor
Image
By the Power of Grayskull!

A sizzle reel for Amazon MGM and Mattel's live-action Masters of the Universe movie screened for those in attendance at CinemaCon last week, and while the footage was not released online (a first teaser trailer is probably still a while off), we do have some new photos from the London set.

These drone shots were taken from quite a distance, but we can make out what appears to be Castle Graysull's unmistakable jaw-drawbridge, as well as a captive Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) and several hooded figures, one of whom might just be Skeletor (Jared Leto).

Though there's a chance this could simply be one of Skeletor's minions (there are a number of other skull-armoured individuals nearby), he does appear to be holding the villain's signature ram's head Havoc Staff.

“We’re not making a cartoon here, we’re making a live-action fantasy film,” said...

Hugh Jackman Returns As Wolverine To Strike Iconic Pose In Marvel Studios "Breathing Excercise" Video
Image
Hugh Jackman has returned as Wolverine... for an 8 hour, 30 minute breathing exercise video.

Marvel released the video, which is titled "Wolverine Breathing Exercise | Marvel Ambiance | Deadpool & Wolverine," to its official YouTube channel in support of National Stress Awareness Month, and it's literally just eight plus hours of Jackman breathing menacingly - until he strikes an iconic pose around the halfway mark.

As Wolvie fans will no doubt be aware, Jackman is paying homage to Frank Miller's cover art for Chris Claremont's Wolverine #1 (1982).

There's been some speculation that this video could be setting up some kind of big announcement relating to Logan, but it seems unlikely. Jackman is expected to reprise the role for Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, but this is probably just an excuse to give some additional promotion to Deadpool and Wolverine, which is now streaming on Disney+.

Have a look at the video below,...
