A new remake of the 1968 sci-fi film Barbarella will be coming to screens soon courtesy of Sony Pictures with writer Jane Goldman attached to the project. The project will see A-list actress, Sydney Sweeney, attached to star in the upcoming remake. The project is based on the French comic book of the same name, but actual details surrounding the upcoming project remain largely vague and very thin. Sweeney was brought on as the project's leading star and an executive producer in 2022, and production has stalled somewhat in the three years since. Despite the slow pace and years of silence, Sweeney has revealed that Barbarella's development is still pressing on.

"I was just in London and had a meeting to discuss the story and the script," Sweeney revealed in a recent conversation. "I can't say too much, but it's really going to come together in a very, very fun and big way.

Manners maketh man! And it seems like fans are going back to the mantra by revisiting the Kingsman franchise as it's reigning on Hulu charts. The British franchise is a brilliant lighthearted spin on the spy genre, full of humor, heart, and a lot of action. The movies have some brilliant performances and thrilling plots, so, no doubt fans are streaming the beloved films.

Barbarella, a mercenary who travels the universe, was portrayed by Jane Fonda in a 1968 movie version that has become a cult favorite. Sweeney’s involvement in the new film was announced in 2022.

In 2000, Berry made her debut as Storm in the original live-action X-Men film, going on to reprise her role for three sequels. The third film of the original trilogy, 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, was originally set to be directed by Vaughn before he handed over those duties to Brett Ratner.
