The Forgotten MTV Series That Was Like A Horror Version Of Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Image
Rob Zombie is known for making horror movies and industrial-flavored heavy metal music, but he isn't the only member of his family to delve into such passions. His brother, Michael David Cummings (more famously known as Powerman 5000 frontman Spider One), also knows how to start a mosh pit and send shivers down the spines of movie fans. As of this writing, Cummings has helmed three horror flicks, but they weren't his only forays into spooky on-screen entertainment.

Before he started directing horror movies, Cummings -- along with "Scrubs" writer Eric Weinberg and Adult Swim alum Curtis Gwinn -- created MTV's short-lived "Death Valley," a mockumentary series about cops and monsters. The story centers around the officers of the Undead Task Force (Utf) and their camera crew as they deal with werewolves, vampires, and zombies in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. Think "Reno 911" meets "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" with a...

Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Redux Redux’ Heads to Theatres with Saban Films Backing
Image
Saban Films has secured the North American distribution rights to the sci-fi revenge thriller Redux Redux, written and directed by Kevin McManus and Matthew McManus. The film, which debuted in the Midnighter section at SXSW earlier this year, is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release later in 2025.

Redux Redux follows Irene Kelly, played by Michaela McManus, as she travels across parallel universes seeking revenge for her daughter’s death by repeatedly killing the murderer in each world. But as Irene becomes consumed by the hunt, her grip on her own humanity begins to fray.

The project features a cast that includes Jim Cummings, Jeremy Holm, Taylor Misiak, Grace Van Dien, and newcomer Stella Marcus. Produced by Mothership Motion Pictures, the film reunites the creative team behind indie titles Funeral Kings and 13 Cameras, including producers Michael J. McGarry, Pj McCabe, Nate Cormier and the McManus brothers themselves.

'Cujo' Star Reveals Stephen King's Reaction to the Movie's Ending After It Was Changed
Image
When you think about Stephen King movies from the 1980s, there are a few classics that immediately come to mind. The Shining, Stand By Me, The Dead Zone, and, of course, 1983's Cujo. Directed by Lewis Teague, who can forget the horrifying tale of a rabid St. Bernard terrorizing a mother and her son trapped in a Ford Pinto on a blistering-hot summer day? Both the book and the movie managed to strike a chord with audiences, not only because of the subject matter, but also because of the way each one ended. Now, star Dee Wallace has revealed King's reaction to the film's conclusion, which was noticeably different from his novel.

Appearing on Still Here Hollywood with Steve Kmetko, Wallace spoke at length about her incredible career, which has included appearances in Steven Spielberg's E.T., The Howling, Rob Zombie's Halloween, and Cujo. Wallace played Donna Trenton in the King film,...

The Best of the Bad Guys: The Many Deaths of Michael Myers
Image
Throughout the Halloween franchise, many have tried to kill Michael Myers with varying degrees of success. He’s been shot. Stabbed. Beaten. In 2009, Rob Zombie tried to kamikaze his entire career at him. But that white-faced bastard is still standing. No matter how many times Loomis screams into the void “Die, Michael, Die!” He always comes back for more. The good news is that all this madness has created an entire gallery of violent injury and death for us to peruse at our leisure. Today, we’ll be doing just that. Welcome to Best of the Bad Guys, where we celebrate the best of horror’s worst villains. Today, we’re ranking the many deaths of Michael Myers. Now, when I say “deaths,” I mean it loosely. Real loose. Like screws on a roller coaster in a Final Destination movie loose. Because as we know, evil never dies. Legend even...

'Bone Tomahawk' Star David Arquette Reflects on the Brutal Horror Western's Continued Popularity
Image
In an entertainment climate where western content seems to red-hot, who can forget the Kurt Russell gem Bone Tomahawk? It's hard to believe this year marks the 10th anniversary of the western horror film's release. And it featured quite the ensemble alongside Russell, including Patrick Wilson (Insidious), the late Sid Haig (a Rob Zombie regular) and David Arquette. MovieWeb recently caught up with Arquette amid the release of his police drama film Mob Cops, and the beloved Scream actor also took time to reflect on his experience shooting Bone Tomahawk alongside the other big names. Arquette told us:

"Working with Sid Haig was just such a honor because he's such an incredible, legendary actor. And that may have been his last film, so just feel really blessed to have met him and worked with him. And then Kurt Russell, I mean, we did 3,000 Miles to Graceland together, and then to...

Founding Butcher Babies Vocalist Carla Harvey Releases ‘Sick Ones’ Music Video
Harvey in Harvey (1950)
Carla Harvey, co-founder of the metal band Butcher Babies, has released the music video for her debut single “Sick Ones” with her new project, The Violent Hour. The video premiered on April 25, 2025, marking a significant step in Harvey’s post-Butcher Babies career.

Directed by Vicente Cordero of Industrial Films, the video showcases Harvey embodying multiple personas, each representing facets of inner turmoil and resilience. This visual approach aligns with the song’s theme of confronting and shedding toxic relationships.

“Sick Ones” was co-written by Harvey and her fiancé, Charlie Benante of Anthrax and Pantera, who also played all instruments on the track. The song features a guitar solo by John 5, known for his work with Mötley Crüe and Rob Zombie. Harvey describes the track as a “rock ‘n’ roll anthem about cutting the toxic people out of your life,” inspired by a phrase she noted in a journal in...

‘The Munsters’ Theme Song Was Openly Trolling Another Classic Sitcom
Image
The central conceit of classic sitcom The Munsters was that the family of vampires and ghouls was just like the clan on Leave It to Beaver, except the relatives occasionally transformed into bats. To get the point across, the earliest seasons of The Munsters patterned their opening theme song off another classic sitcom, only with a morbid twist.

While The Donna Reed Show hasn’t stayed in the public consciousness as long as The Munsters, it lasted for a whopping 275 episodes over eight seasons from the late 1950s through the mid-1960s. Families didn’t get much more whitebred than the Stones, and each episode began with Donna Stone (Reed) handing out nutritious lunches to her children and husband as they left for another mundane day outside the family home.

In its first season, The Munsters openly mocked The Donna Reed Show open, recreating each of its beats but with a ghoulish flourish.

Why Did Michael Myers Kill His Sister In Halloween?
Image
Few franchises can say that they've endured the way that "Halloween" has. Directed by the horror master himself, John Carpenter, the 1978 classic that started it all remains one of the most beloved movies the genre has ever produced. It also resulted in a series of sequels and reboots that have allowed Michael Myers to endure for nearly 50 years in the larger pop culture consciousness.

Carpenter's original movie sets the tone right out of the gate, with a young Michael Myers killing his older sister, Judith Myers, in a brutal fashion. We see the whole thing in Pov before the gut-punch of a reveal that it was a young boy behind this cold-blooded murder. The rest of the film picks up years later, with Michael now an adult let loose on the town of Haddonfield, leaving quite a few more bodies in his wake.

But why did that young boy decide...

Ryan Cultrera
Interview with genre icon Ken Foree: Dawn of the Dead, The Devil’s Rejects, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, & more
Ryan Cultrera
The horror genre is best known for its “Final Girls,” and JoBlo’s own Ryan Cultrera was recently able to catch up with several popular Final Girls at the Ve Neill’s Vampire Weekend convention in California. This week, we’ve shared Ryan’s interviews with Lisa Wilcox from the Elm Street franchise, Christine Elise from the Child’s Play / Chucky franchise, and Melanie Kinnaman from Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. Now, Ryan wraps up this interview series by having a conversation with one of the horror genre’s greatest male heroes – Ken Foree.

Foree has over 100 screen acting credits to his name and, in recent years, has been a regular in Rob Zombie movies, showing up in the likes of The Devil’s Rejects, Halloween, and The Lords of Salem – but before he teamed up with Zombie, he was known to genre fans for playing heroic characters in George A. Romero...

Neil Patrick Harris Voiced Spider-Man In A Forgotten Animated MTV Series
Image
"Spider-Man" is one of the most popular superheroes of all time, and one that is quite versatile when it comes to adaptations. We've had several "Spider-Man" shows and movies, from live-action to animation and video games, each with a unique take, visual style, and tone. Tom Holland's boyish Peter Parker is vastly different from Jake Johnson's jaded Peter B. Parker and Tobey Maguire's tragic, mopey version of the character (which audiences voted as the single best live-action Peter Parker).

Even in animation, we've seen many different interpretations from voice actors across games, TV, and film, portraying Peter as an older man, a newcomer just getting started with his powers, or an established hero. Though there have been many animated "Spider-Man" TV shows, each with their own fans and defenders, one show is usually left out of the conversation — MTV's "Spider-Man: The New Animated Series."

This was a wild experiment.

The 10 Best Horror Movies About Scary Clowns
Image
Horror movies about clowns are their own specific breed of awesome. Some of the best horror movies out there center around the diabolical sweetness -- or lack thereof -- of clowns, so there's no underestimating how truly terrifying they can be within the right circumstances. Sure, there are some truly bad ones out there, but those truly pale in comparison to how much the good ones absolutely rock. One could even argue that the presence of a scary clown automatically elevates any horror movie, but that one might be just a matter of taste at the end of the day.

That said, there's no denying horror is truly a safe haven for the weird and wonderful, and evil clowns definitely fall within those categories. In fact, culture's most memorable clowns call horror their home. Horror allows for audiences to safely explore the antithesis of the joy clowns can conventionally give us,...

'Devil May Cry' Series Is a "Love Letter to Capcom" Says Showrunner
Image
Taking a look at the new series Devil May Cry, a number of descriptive words come to mind. It's another exciting Netflix anime, a video-game adaptation, an action-horror show, and a blast of metal music-laced chaos. Anyone who's familiar with the five video games and has perhaps played at least one of Capcom's five titles will certainly tune in to see what the new series from showrunner Adi Shankar (Dredd producer) is all about. MovieWeb was able to catch up with Shankar as the series dropped on Netflix to learn what he's most excited for fans to experience.

"There's so much. I mean, it's a love letter to Capcom, it's a love letter to Hollywood blockbusters from 1999 to 2003, it's a love letter to nu-metal music, it's a love letter to long-time fans, newer fans. It's just the whole thing," Shankar told us. "It was really just a dream come...

One of Rob Zombie’s Nastiest Films Is Now Streaming for Free
Image
A lot of people are quick to discount Rob Zombie as a filmmaker. Some critics and moviegoers can’t see past the musician-turned-filmmaker’s penchant for ultra-violence or his tendency to feature characters with nearly no redeeming qualities in pivotal roles.

I get it. Some of Zombie’s films are an acquired taste. Perhaps most of them fall under that heading. However, I don’t think we should necessarily write Zombie off as a director because of that. In reading through old interviews, it’s clear he has a keen understanding of the filmmaking process. Additionally, I have come around to some of his films after giving them another watch with fresh eyes and an open mind.

I encourage you to do the same, dear reader. If you’re not a big fan of his output, try giving one of his films another shot with no preconceived notions. You may...

5 of the Most Unnecessary Prequels
Image
While it can occasionally be fun to dive into the origin story of your favorite superhero or see the Muppets as little babies or whatever, a prequel is by definition an unnecessary story. Unlike sequels, which can just keep depicting gripping adventures forever, a prequel takes place before anything interesting happens, otherwise they’d have started the original earlier. That’s especially true for…

Following the release of the Wicked movie, the author of the book it’s based on, Gregory Maguire, published Elphie, which tells the story of “prickly young Elphaba” as she’s “shaped and molded by the behaviors” of her parents, “suffers ordinary childhood jealousies” of her siblings, “first encounters the mistreatment of the Animal populations of Oz” and “thrashes through her first bruising attempts at friendship.” Sounds a lot like… Wicked. Which is already a prequel. How far is this gonna go? Elphaba in the womb?...

“Devil May Cry” – the latest Netflix animated series based on a video game – has finally arrived.

Steered by Ari Shankar, who was also responsible for the critically successful “Castlevania” series also at Netflix, the new “Devil May Cry” show brings the classic violent gunplay combat from the video game along with the grungy late ’90s/early ’00s vibe and music that was popular at the time of its original release.

Here are the familiar faces voicing the biggest characters in the new series in our complete “Devil May Cry” cast and character guide.

Scout Taylor-Compton played teen heroine Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake, and came back for Zombie’s Halloween II. Danielle Harris played child heroine Jamie Lloyd in Halloween 4: The Return of the Michael Myers and Halloween 5, then was cast to play Annie Brackett in Zombie’s two Halloween films. Now, Taylor-Compton and Harris have a podcast called Talk Scary to Me, which is part of the Bloody Disgusting network – and our friends over at Bloody Disgusting have just shared the news that Taylor-Compton and Harris will be directing a movie together! It is, of course, a horror movie, and the title is Last Chance Motel.

A Cancelled Sequel To The Crow Could Have Starred Dmx And Eminem
Image
/Film has been dutifully reporting on all the failed "Crow" remakes as news of their formation as dissipation came across our desks. Back in 2008, Stephen Norrington was attached. Then, in 2014, it was Corin Hardy. Andrea Riseborough was supposed to be a part of that one. In 2016, it was said that Jason Momoa was going to star in a new "Crow" remake. Then that project fell apart. Rupert Sander's remake of "The Crow" was released in late August of 2024, and it came and went without much positive fanfare. It bombed at the box office, making only $26 million on a $50 million budget, and it was panned by critics, including by /Film. This was an inauspicious reaction to a film that had been trapped in development hell for literally decades.

Speaking of development, Rob Zombie famously wrote a script for a sequel called "The Crow 2037," which would have taken the series in a sci-fi direction,...

25 Of The Goriest Movies Ever Made
Image
This list includes descriptions of violent and graphic movie scenes that may be disturbing to some readers.

In horror movies, the gore isn't just blood and guts designed to repulse — on the contrary, it's an effective storytelling device to convey the consequences and brutality of a scene. It's also a beautifully disgusting art form with superstars as important as scream queens and slashers in horror films. Makeup artists like Rick Baker and Tom Savini have taken the genre from cheesy to realistically gory with a chef's kiss.

To a true gore aficionado, the decapitations and disembowelments are just as key to the movie as the plot or casting. CGI can create everything from the fantastic to the mundane, but it still can't generate believable gore. The best, goriest movies ever made have terrifying, compelling stories and buckets of practical effects, blood, and innards.

Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez’s 'Grindhouse' Double Bill Is Streaming Free This Month
Image
The B-movie tribute by Quentin Tarantinoand Robert Rodriguezwill soon be available to stream for free. Fans of gritty '70s cinema will get their chance to see the experiment that was the 2007 double feature movie called Grindhouse, in which the auteurs paid tribute to the style of movies that inspired them to make their own. Tarantino's Death Proof and Rodriguez's Planet Terror are two quite unique movies that evoke the style of exploitation films from the 1970s, which often played in grindhouse theaters where low-budget films were exhibited. They ranged from horror features to adult films, and the two 2007 movies try their best to encompass these multiple genres.

A Forgotten Body Horror Masterpiece from 2002 Is One Its French Director Still Hasn’t Rewatched: ‘I Will Never See It Again’
Image
In the early 2000s, at the same time directors like Eli Roth and Rob Zombie were pushing the limits of violence in American cinema with “Cabin Fever” and “The Devil’s Rejects,” a parallel movement emerged in France. Dubbed cinema du corps or “New French Extremity,” the trend was characterized by extremely confrontational horror films that assaulted the audience with their combination of filmmaking skill and visceral gore.

Many of these movies no longer feel quite so shocking, their tropes now absorbed into mainstream horror. Marina de Van’s “In My Skin,” however, retains its power to disturb 23 years after its release. The story of a young woman (played by de Van herself) whose addiction to self-mutilation escalates in increasingly graphic body horror set pieces, “In My Skin” remains profoundly unsettling because there’s no barrier between the audience and the filmmaker’s subconscious — de Van invites us into her darkest...

Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes in Ghost Rider (2007)
It's time for a new Ghost Rider film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes in Ghost Rider (2007)
Tumbleweeds dance across desert sands. The night is cold, colder by the hour. The lizards have dug into the sand. Roadrunners have found their brushes to sleep in. Danger lurks in the air, hiding in the open darkness.

A congress of bandits celebrates their latest thefts. They joke about the lives taken by their bullets. These godless, immoral thieves of the night eat well as they stoke the scullery fire. A presence not of this world approaches, they do not know him. They have heard the legends.

See him. Leather and chains and a skull on fire. His motorcycle’s hum dies down. The light from his head. The smell of sulfur. They fear not their fellow man, but they fear the Spirit of Vengeance.

They scramble, each man and woman fleeing. All that expanse of land and nowhere to go. They do not get far. He brandishes a chain...

8 Horror Films That Get Too Much Hate
Image
The one thing that remains true about horror fans is that we’re incredibly passionate about the genre. We come to the defense of our favorite horror media, we anticipate new releases, and the list goes on. But what about the films that don’t get nearly any appreciation or are outright hated? There are plenty of hated horror films that not even I would defend, for one reason or another. Yet there are some that receive way too much hate at the time of their release or for years afterwards.

Sometimes remakes of older horror films are immediately disliked, an original horror film doesn’t quite live up to expectations, a sequel in a horror franchise becomes an unwelcome addition etc. Compiling a list of horror films that get hated on is quite the feat if I’m being honest. There might be some folks shaking their fists because...

15 Clown Horror Movies That Deliver Underrated Scares
Image
Clowns have been known for being more frightening than funny for the longest time in the horror genre. There is a reason why the fear of clowns has its own term, "coulrophobia." What was once a cheerful figure with a big red nose and balloon animal artistry that served as entertainment for children's birthday parties has morphed into an evil monster with a talent for terror. The mention of clowns in horror conjures up popular picks like Stephen King's iconic Pennywise and, more recently, Art the Clown, and while these infamous figures are frightening, there are far more clowns to fear in the genre.

The It and Terrifier movies will scratch that clown horror itch, but there are so many underrated horror movies with clowns that are just as scary and perhaps even a little silly. When looking for actual scares, The Houses October Built and Clown are excellent...

Before Saw, James Wan Made A Wild Horror Movie You'll Probably Never See
Image
For some hardcore cinephiles, there's no greater pleasure than digging into the roots of some of their favorite filmmakers. It's often a highly illuminating experience to see the first cinematic efforts of directors who go on to bigger and better things. Whether it takes them a few features to build up to the height of their powers, or if they came storming out of the gate with originality and attitude to spare, there's usually some kind of overarching story of these filmmakers and their craft to be discovered when watching these early works.

If you can find them at all, that is. While most young filmmakers these days are used to growing up in a world where their baby pictures are still posted on their social media accounts, the analog days of yore meant old media could not only be lost, but become lost for good. That risk goes double...

Into the Deep clip previews a cage attack sequence in shark thriller
Steven Spielberg at an event for The 79th Annual Academy Awards (2007)
Last year, we learned that, forty-nine years after playing a major role in the Steven Spielberg classic Jaws (and fourteen years after making an appearance in Alexandre Aja’s Piranha 3D), Richard Dreyfuss had been cast in another film that promises to be packed with aquatic thrills, Vigilante Diaries director Christian Sesma’s Into the Deep. The film received a digital, On Demand, and limited theatrical release last Friday, and will be getting a DVD and Blu-ray release in the UK on February 3rd. To promote these releases, a clip from the film has dropped online and can be seen in the embed above. Dreyfuss got attacked while in a cage in Jaws, and this clip shows Into the Deep‘s version of a cage attack.

Scripted by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway – who have previously collaborated on the alligator movie The Flood, the Dolph Lundgren action thriller Section 8 (which...

Film and Television Locations Destroyed In The Eaton Fire – Photos
Image
Just miles from Hollywood, nestled in the San Gabriel Valley, lies the town of Altadena, which was decimated by the Eaton Fire. Among the thousands of structures burnt down were a number of historic buildings used in movies and TV series.

As the area reopened two weeks after the disaster hit, Deadline was able to survey some of the destruction. Below is a photo record of what is left of the famous buildings, along with pictures of what they looked like before the fire, including images of how they will be remembered from scenes in films and TV shows.

The houses lost include the mansion seen on Max’s award-winning comedy series Hacks, a 1915 Spanish Colonial Revival, with only its facade still standing.

Also destroyed are the Altadena Town & Country Club, seen in Mad Men, Starsky & Hutch, Van Wilder and The Wonder Years; the Eliot Arts Magnet Academy School...

Halloween: Is Laurie Strode The Sister Of Michael Myers?
Image
In hindsight, 1978's "Halloween" was always destined to have a sequel. Co-writer/director John Carpenter and co-writer/producer Debra Hill even included a particularly prophetic line of dialogue in their tale of a supernaturally-charged maniac, Michael Myers, terrorizing his hometown on Halloween night: "You can't kill the bogeyman." Thanks to the film's massive success critically, commercially, and culturally, "Halloween II" was practically a given.

While "Halloween" concludes with the assertion that Myers has indeed not yet been killed, a trickier question for Carpenter and Hill concerned what to do with the other surviving supporting characters. Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) was established as the Van Helsing to Myers' Dracula, so his return was fairly natural. A bigger issue revolved around bringing back star Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, the babysitter who unfortunately crosses Myers' path and becomes the focus of his All Hallows' Eve rampage. Not wanting to kill...
