Wilhelmi began his career on stage with the Ateneum Theatre in Warsaw. His most notable film roles include Hotel Pacific (1975), The Story of Sin (1975), and The Moth (1980). On television, he gained widespread recognition for his roles in the series Czterej pancerni i pies (1966) and Kariera Nikodema Dyzmy (1980)
