For her 90th birthday on Wednesday, animal rights champion Dr. Jane Goodall has made a video in which she and many famous friends plead for compassion for animals. “I’m sure all of you will agree you can’t spend time with an animal and not know that we are not the only beings with personalities, minds, and emotions,” she says at the beginning of the video.
The rest of the four-minute clip finds her and others reciting a statement from her about the importance of recognizing every part of the world’s ecology.

Girlfriends made its Upn premiere in 2000 and two decades and a pandemic later, the comedy series from Mara Brock Akil still holds up. Akil, Tracee Ellis Ross, Golden Brooks, Persia White, Jill Marie Jones and Reginald C. Hayes came together at PaleyFest New York to celebrate Girlfriends’ 20th anniversary and reflect on how Hollywood still has work to do.
“We are celebrated and I am joyful about the celebration, but I am not remised about the continued fight and how hard it is to occupy these spaces at the levels in which we are and continue to be in,” Akil said during the virtual conversation.
During the conversation, the Girlfriends cast and creator marveled at how the show’s Netflix pickup in July has caused a renaissance of discourse about the series’ group of friends and their relationships. Tracee Ellis Ross scored her fourth Emmy nomination this year for her performance as Dr. Rainbow Johnson in ABC’s “Black-ish.” The nomination comes after a significant few years for the actress, including a prequel series about young Rainbow called “Mixed-ish” and the film “The High Note,” her first starring role in a movie in over a decade. But Ross remains proud of the work she is doing on “Black-ish,” which is now entering its seventh season.”We don’t lean into the traditional sitcom wife/mother, the idea that you’re upholding an idea of perfection, that you are doing only one thing and being one version of what it is to be a woman,” says Ross in an exclusive new interview with Gold Derby. Last month, "The Vampire Diaries" villain Joseph Morgan premiered the 30-second trailer for his gripping new film, "Revelation." Now Morgan is set to publicly debut the ten-minute short at the Atlanta Film Festival, running from March 15-24 this spring. "Revelation" is Morgan's directorial debut, starring "Tvd" alumna Persia White.
Zap2it got an exclusive first screening of the thriller -- and it was quite a white-knuckled ride. White plays a woman navigating a dark, post-apocalyptic world, where the home she once shared with her husband has become a house of horrors, marred by gruesome tragedy. After a savage confrontation, she's left with no choice but to venture out into the world and face the harsh realities that await her there.
The film's frenetic pace and accelerating heartbeat will leave you breathless, as will White's unsparing performance. The audience is privy to every fraught breath she takes on screen as she fights for survival.

You'd think that playing "The Vampire Diaries" villainous vampire-werewolf hybrid would keep Joseph Morgan busy, but the true artist never sleeps! Our favorite bad guy directed a short film, "Revelation," over the summer, starring "Vampire Diaries" witch Persia White, best known from her role on "Girlfriends." Now, Morgan has finally debuted the highly-anticipated thirty-second trailer.
The whole movie is about ten minutes long, and Morgan has submitted it for consideration in several festivals. In time, he plans to make the film available for fans to view online.
"Ultimately, the goal is to stream it online for free, but unfortunately, for some of the festivals we submitted it to, like Cannes, having it available online would immediately disqualify us, so I'm trying to do everything in the right order," Morgan tells us. "I do feel a bit bad, because I tweeted about it so much and haven't been able to release it yet,...

In Thursday's episode of "The Vampire Diaries," we'll once again see Klaus and Caroline bond over a glass of champagne -- apparently, that's their thing now. Though she's still secretly dating Tyler, there's no doubt that Caroline has warmed up to Klaus's advances. In turn, he may be slightly distracted from his evil quest to turn Elena back into a human bloodbag.
When Zap2it spoke with Joseph Morgan, he assured us that wooing Caroline is becoming a more significant priority for Klaus. "I would say that she's certainly a priority at this point, yes," Morgan says. "He's definitely still got his own agendas, and he's still invested in finding the cure for Elena and creating more hybrids, but he's quite captivated by Caroline. The Vampire Diaries 3.21 "Before Sunset" Review
The penultimate episode of season 3 of The Vampire Diaries managed to get rid of one villain while setting up Elena's (Nina Dobrev) big decision for next week's finale. Of course it wasn't as clear cut as that and like the witches and the balance of nature; this show has loopholes that it is happy to use to create tension and danger at every turn. Last week we said goodbye to Alaric (Matt Davis) and while he is still in Mystic Falls this is not the Alaric that we are familiar with and so those misty eyed farewells still matter.
While our Alaric started life in Mystic Falls as a vampire hunter, he soon became very much like Elena in seeing that vampires aren't just monsters. This new vampire version of Alaric is how he probably wanted to be when he first came to town...
