Mike White
"The White Lotus" Season 2 returns with another darkly comedic trip to a luxury hotel, this time in Sicily. Only Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) and Greg (Jon Gries) return Season 1, which was set in Hawaii. Now married, Tanya and Greg (a.k.a. Stifler's Mom and Uncle Rico), find more trouble in paradise, surrounded by a new ultra-rich and problematic crew. F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli, and Adam DiMarco play the Italian-American grandpa, dad, and son. Aubrey Plaza and Will Sharpe are the couple vacationing with friends played by Meghann Fahey and Theo James. Sabrina Impacciatore takes on the harried hotel manager, while Haley Lu Richardson plays Portia, Tanya's girl Friday. Mike White ('School of Rock,' "Freaks and Geeks") writes and directs all seven episodes once again. He created "The White Lotus" as a limited series, but HBO ordered Season 2 before the first finished airing. The show won 10 of its 20 Emmy Nominations, including writing, directing, and editing awards, and a big win for Coolidge for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. "The White Lotus" goes Italian on HBO Max in Oct. 2022.
