When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behaviour, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Bronte sister. But when she meets Felix (Sharpe) – a walking series of red flags – she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore, even as it creates more problems than it solves. FX's Grotesquerie begins with Niecy Nash-Betts' Det. Lois Tryon investigating several horrific murders in a small town, but viewers are soon thrown for a loop when it's revealed that the character is actually — spoiler alert! — in a coma. It's a classic TV twist that producer Ryan Murphy has become known for.
"I will probably be working with Ryan until the day they throw dirt on my face," Nash-Betts tells Gold Derby. "I love Ryan Murphy. I love him as a partner. I love him as a creator. I was so interested to see what was next, what was going on in his mind. And when I read that script — oh my gosh!"
Nash-Betts won an Emmy for another Murphy project, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, and she's soon returning to his universe in the upcoming Hulu legal series All's Fair, which will costar Kim Kardashian, Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson,...

The 57-year-old actor and his wife Taylor Neisen stepped out with Kai, 16, at the Ali Forney Center’s A Place at the Table Gala on Friday night (May 9) at The Glasshouse in New York City.
The gala celebrated the resilience of LGBTQ+ youth and honored the individuals and organizations working to build a more inclusive, supportive future.
Liev recently opened up about Kai coming out to him and mom Naomi Watts. He also talked about the need to step up and support people who are facing hardship while coming out.
“This isn’t just about representing the trans community,” he told Variety. “This is actually a community of people who don’t have great resources, who don’t have access to help, who aren’t being protected and looked after by their families.

Liev Schreiber is opening up about being the father of a trans daughter.

Liev talked about Kai staying true to who she is and how she embraces her space in the trans community.
Keep reading to find out more…
“Kai was always who Kai is. But I suppose the most profound moment was her asking us to change her pronouns. To be honest with you, it didn’t feel like that big of a deal to me only because Kai had been so feminine for so long,” Liev said.
He added, “Kai is such a fighter. It’s important that she goes, ‘Hey, I am trans,’ and, ‘Look at me,’ and, ‘F–k you. F–k off.’”
Liev was asked to share advice to parents of children who are coming out as trans.

Horror remakes get a bad rap – and let’s be honest, they often deserve it. For every clever reimagining, we’ve sat through a dozen limp reboots that sucked the life (and the scares) right out of the original. But sometimes, a remake comes along that doesn’t just cash in on nostalgia; it sharpens, reinvents, or even surpasses the source material.
With fresh remakes like Wolf Man (2025) and Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Frankenstein reboot lighting up horror headlines, now’s the perfect time to revisit the remakes that proved this subgenre can deliver more than lazy copy-paste thrills. Here’s our list of horror reboots and remakes that earned their place in the genre’s blood-soaked hall of fame.

Human beings and dogs have been friends for 12,000 years now. While the wolf in the wild has evolved to become man’s “best friend,” an emblem of loyalty in friendships, have humans been as considerate in treating this best friend as an equal? There are stories of dogs like Hachiko and Apollo in fiction, but canine shelters still fill up in numbers with dogs abandoned by their humans. The Friend, adapted from Sigrid Nunez’s National Book Award-winning novel, is a tender introspection of friendship and the grief that comes with losing a friend—a remembrance that you take a lifetime to recover from. Starring Naomi Watts as Iris, a writer living alone in Manhattan, it follows her life after her close friend and mentor Walter’s death by suicide. Walter, a man of many loves and wives, chooses his best friend and former student to take care of his Great Dane,...

Being Maria (Jessica Palud)
Last Tango in Paris was both a breakout role and turning point in the life and career of Maria Schneider––a traumatic filming experience that inspired her to become an advocate for women in the film industry, and the often redundant depictions of female characters in cinema. Her steadfastness and increasing ability to not suffer fools gladly after her experiences with Bernardo Bertolucci and Marlon Brando saw her walk out on several major directors midway through shooting, earning her a reputation for being difficult, frustrations largely ignored as this behavior coincided with her own battles with mental health and drug addiction, both of which were weaponized as reasons to not hire her. Daisy Edgar-Jones may easily be mistaken for Anne Hathaway’s identical twin! And I’m not just talking about how they look alike. Beyond their similarity in appearance, they perfectly mimic one another’s fashion sense!
Like Anne Hathaway, Daisy Edgar-Jones has a penchant for timeless, sophisticated fashion. She leans toward classic pieces but sometimes embraces modern, chic ensembles to showcase her versatility.

Anne Hathaway continues to refuse to age, and it’s leading to questions about cosmetic surgery.
Some instead accuse her of vampirism, but they’re joking. We think.
The famously beautiful actress’ years of sobriety alone probably cannot explain her radiant look.
But after recent photos went viral, everyone agrees that Hathaway remains a knockout. They just don’t agree on how.

Once again, Anne Hathaway and her apparent lack of familiarity with the aging process is on people’s minds.
She recently had a front row view at Ralph Lauren’s fall 2025 fashion show on Thursday, April 17.
Though 42, she doesn’t really look older or less fresh-faced than she did when she made her acting debut as a teenager.

You think luck is when preparation meets opportunity—but sometimes, luck is just a phone call from someone who sees the potential in you before anyone else does. Naomi Watts’ big break wasn’t just a stroke of fortune, it was a turning point in her career, and, believe it or not, she owes a great deal of it to David Lynch, the late filmmaker whose movies dance in the shadowy corners of cinema.
When Watts was teetering on the edge of doubt about taking on the role of Ann Darrow in King Kong (2005), it was Lynch’s words that made her leap. And, well, just like that, she jumped right into the palm of cinema history.

Nicole Kidman has been on a hot streak for the last 35 years. Despite having risen to prominence multiple decades ago, she continues to topline quality films and series like a starlet half her age. Her talent is so profound that it transcends sexist and agist industry practices that put actresses of a certain age out to pasture, leaving them to play a matriarch or similar. Her impressive career trajectory is a testament to her talent, universal appeal, and staying power. With all that in mind, you likely won’t be surprised to learn that Kidman stars in the most-watched horror thriller on the Prime Video platform today.
Kidman toplines Holland, a mixture of genre tropes and dark comedy from Mimi Cave (who horror fans might remember from Fresh). The flick is a Prime original that just debuted on the platform late last month (March 28th).

It’s the biggest-ever debut for a video game adaptation, surpassing The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which earned $146 million the first weekend of April, 2023. Bill Murray has addressed the 2022 incident that led to the suspension and eventual shutdown of Being Mortal, a film directed by Aziz Ansari and produced by Searchlight Pictures. In a new interview with The New York Times, the actor described what happened on set as a failed attempt at humor, which resulted in a formal complaint and a six-figure settlement.
Murray said he kissed a female crew member while both were wearing masks and briefly straddled her, calling it something he had done before and considered lighthearted. “It wasn’t like I touched her,” he said. “I gave her a kiss through a mask. And she wasn’t a stranger.”
He added that they had worked together and shared meals during the shoot. “It was Covid, we were all wearing masks, and we were all stranded in this one room listening to this crazy scene. I dunno what prompted me to do it,...

There’s going to be a lot of celebrating tomorrow morning at Warner Bros’s Burbank lot. For the first time since Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice in the fall, the studio has a legitimate box office smash, with A Minecraft Movie blowing past industry expectations to make a whopping $157 million this weekend. That’s more than twice what we predicted earlier this week, but even the most optimistic industry forecasts didn’t expect this to make more than $100 million. It’s now the highest opening for a video game movie ever, beating the $146 million The Super Mario Bros Movie earned in 2023.
This comes along at just the right moment for WB, who have suffered from a huge slate of pricey box office bombs, including Furiosa, Joker: Folie a Deux, Alto Knights, and the recent Mickey 17. Will this be enough to turn around the company’s fortunes? It’s hard to say,...

Speaking in a recent interview with The New York Times, the “SNL” comedian turned actor shared that there aren’t “too many day or weeks” he goes without thinking about what happened and has “tried to make peace” since.
“I ended up being, to my mind, barbecued,” said Murray of the fallout. “But someone that I worked with, that I had had lunch with on various days of the week — it was Covid, we were all wearing masks, and we were all stranded in this one room listening to this crazy scene. Bill Murray reflected on the allegations and eventual $100,000 settlement that derailed and subsequently shuttered Disney’s Searchlight Pictures adaptation of Being Mortal back in 2022.
In a new interview with the New York Times‘ podcast The Daily, the Groundhog Day actor discussed how it’s “rough stuff” to portray crummy characters, like his roles in On the Rocks and The Friend, his latest release opposite Naomi Watts.
“When you’ve performed as a horrible creep, you know that ‘Hey, I have been that horrible creep and not seen it and not been aware of it,'” he said.
The comment then prompted the interviewer to question Murray about what happened on the erstwhile set of Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, which also featured cast members like Seth Rogen and Keke Palmer.

Bill Murray opened up in a new interview about the incident that led to Being Mortal, Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, being shut down in what was described at the time as Murray’s “inappropriate behavior.”
In a conversation discussing his new movie The Friend with The New York Times, Murray was asked about the parallels between Walter, the film’s character he portrays, and his own experience with both of them being accused of “inappropriate misconduct.” When asked if he thought about that, Murray said, “I don’t go...

In April 2022, Ghostbusters star Bill Murray was accused of "inappropriate behavior" while filming Aziz Ansari's film Being Mortal for the Disney-owned Searchlight Pictures. Though it was deep into production, the project was squashed as it never went back into production after getting put on pause due to the allegations against Murray.
Per The New York Times, Murray addressed the situation on the set of Being Mortal that led to the movie's cancelation. Previously, it had been reported that Murray allegedly straddled a female co-star and kissed her through facemasks they had been wearing due to Covid-19 safety protocols. After production was shut down, Murray reportedly agreed to a settlement to pay the woman $100,000. Looking back at the ordeal, Murray admits he still thinks about it often, though he maintains that he didn't realize what he did would result in him getting "barbecued."

Bill Murray has opened up about what happened on the set of “Being Mortal,” Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut that was shut down over complaints of the prolific comedian’s on-set misconduct.
While speaking with The New York Times about his new movie, “The Friend,” Murray discussed the fact that he and his character in the film, Walter, have both been accused of “inappropriate misconduct.” When asked if he still thinks about his “Being Mortal” incident, Murray said, “I don’t go too many days or weeks without thinking of what happened.”
“It was Covid, we were all wearing masks and we were all stranded in this one room listening to this crazy scene,” Murray said. “I dunno what prompted me to do it. It’s something that I had done to someone else before, and I thought it was funny, and every time it happened, it was funny. I was wearing a mask,...

Bill Murray candidly reflected on the 2022 misconduct allegations that had him settling with a female colleague for $100,000 after he kissed her through Covid-mandated face masks. He defended his behavior as “still funny” and indicated it was blown out of proportion when he was “barbecued” for the incident that led to Disney shelving their project, “Being Mortal” — a move he said was a “great disappointment.”
“It wasn’t like I touched her, it was just, I gave her a kiss through a mask, through another mask, to another person. And it wasn’t, she wasn’t a stranger,” he said, speaking with “The Daily” podcast for The New York Times in a Saturday episode.
“I thought I knew someone, and I did not,” he later added. “And I thought it was, I certainly thought it was light, and I thought it was funny. And to me it’s still funny.”

Naomi Watts and Bill Murray in Bleecker Street’s The Friend. Credit: Bleecker Street
Bill Murray and Naomi Watts star as best friends in The Friend, a comedy-drama about a friend leaving his beloved pet, a Great Dane named Apollo, to his best friend. The friend didn’t let the bestie know about this plan, leaving the friend both grieving and trying to find a place for a dog that is not allowed in her no-pets apartment.
There even seems some doubt about whether that was really ever said out loud. But it is what the friend’s second ex-wife, who has the dog now, tells her he wanted. Naomi Watts plays Iris, the friend who is left the dog when her best friend Walter (Bill Murray) suddenly dies.
This smart, human comedy/drama is set in New York among writers, academics and literary types but it finds common ground...

It’s no exaggeration to say that the next few weeks will be pivotal for Warner Bros. While, at CinemaCon, they seemed bullish on the potential of their slate, it’s full of risky, big-budget gambles and following Joker: Folie a Deux, Alto Knights and Mickey 17, they are badly in need of a hit. This month, they have two movies that – if they succeed – could theoretically save the current regime. But, if they fail, it will be a disaster for all involved. The first of these two movies is A Minecraft Movie (the other – Sinners – opens Easter weekend). Based on the wildly popular video game, the movie is a trippy mix of live-action and CGI animation, with our critic, Alex Maidy, giving it a relatively positive review earlier this week.
Given how huge the video game is, industry estimates say the movie has a shot at a $100 million opening.
