Kerry Washington and Elisabeth Moss are hard at work on their new Apple TV+ series.
The two Emmy-winning stars filmed scenes for their upcoming thriller Imperfect Women on Thursday (May 15) at a park in Los Angeles.
For their time on set, Kerry, 48, sported a gray blazer and jeans while Elisabeth, 42, wore a purple. In between scenes, the two were spotted laughing and walking around the park.
According to Variety, Imperfect Women is a “psychological thriller examining a crime that shatters the lives of a decades-long friendship of three women. ‘Imperfect Women’ is a mystery complicated by perspective that explores guilt and retribution, love and betrayal, and the compromises we make that alter our lives irrevocably. As the investigation unravels, so does the truth about how even the closest relationships can change over time.”
Kate Mara also stars in the series.
It was just recently revealed that Kerry is working on a Desperate Housewives revival!

Colombia has a robust presence in Cannes this year, starting with Un Certain Regard entry “A Poet” (“Un Poeta”) by Simón Mesa Soto, whose career trajectory has been linked to Cannes thus far.
He premiered his debut feature “Amparo” at Cannes Critics’ Week in 2021. Prior to that, Mesa Soto, who studied Audiovisual Communications at the University of Antioquia in Colombia and later pursued a Master’s degree at the London Film School, won the 2014 Cannes short film Palme d’Or with his thesis short film, “Leidi,” while his next short film, “Mother,” was selected to compete in Cannes two years later.
“A Poet” follows Oscar Restrepo (played by non-pro Ubeimar Rios), whose devotion to poetry has earned him little more than obscurity. Now aging and erratic, he embodies the archetype of the forgotten poet, lost in the shadows. But when he crosses paths with Yurlady (non-pro Rebeca Andrade), a talented teenager from humble origins,...

'Terminator: Dark Fate' Star Natalia Reyes Would Love To Return as Humanity’s New Savior, Dani Ramos

Just when you thought the apocalyptic franchise James Cameron created over 40 years ago was "terminated," think again. The cyborg-dominated universe recently saw a resurgence with the anime series Terminator Zero on Netflix, coming five years after the latest live-action film, Terminator: Dark Fate, which brought back Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor and introduced an array of new characters, including one Dani Ramos.
Portrayed by Natalia Reyes, the embattled mom paralleled Sarah's story (at least we thought it did) with Sarah initially believing her to be the newest mother of humanity's savior following the death of John Connor. However, it is later revealed that Dani is, in fact, the new John, and is destined to be the one to pick up the mantle and lead humanity against the machines, with Sarah as her mentor. Written and directed by Joe Carnahan, the brand-new action drama Shadow Force has officially opened in theaters, although it was unable to break the top 5 in its opening weekend box office ranking. From 2,170 theaters, the movie managed just $2.1 million from its debut weekend, a considerable underachievement for a film boasting a reported $60 million budget. Unable to make an impact despite featuring a strong, eye-catching ensemble cast that includes the likes of Kerry Washington, Lupin star Omar Sy, The Penguin and Dune: Prophecy's Mark Strong, Academy Award winner Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Cliff "Method Man" Smith, and others, it seems that the poor beginning to financial life isn't reflected by the movie's audience reception.
On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Shadow Force is the owner of an impressive 81% audience rating, suggesting a movie well worth the time, energy, and money of theatergoers. Alas, it seems this action flick is the latest in...

Ticket sales for Disney's Marvel movie dropped just 55 percent from its $74 million opening, buoyed by its A-minus CinemaScore and glowing reviews. This is a better hold than several previous Marvel films, including Captain America: Brave New World (down 68 percent), 2023's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (down 70 percent), The Marvels (down 78 percent), and 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder (down 67 percent), signaling a positive shift for the franchise.

Thunderbolts* Still Takes No. 1 With One Of The McU's Best Week 2 Drops, But Is Falling Short Of Original $35 Million Projections
This article was originally written Saturday Am and has been updated Sunday Am with up-to-date box office projections (in bold), a full chart, and further analysis.
Thunderbolts* has turned out an astounding second weekend at the domestic box office. The new movie, which is the 36th feature-length installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, follows the formation of a team of antiheroes from previous installments in the superhero franchise, including Ant-Man and the Wasp's Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Black Widow's Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh). The Thunderbolts* release kicked off somewhat inauspiciously with a $74.3 million debut that landed below the previous installment, Captain America: Brave New World ($88.8 million).

Marvel’s “Thunderbolts*” remained No. 1 at the box office, collecting $33.1 million in its second weekend of release.
Ticket sales declined by 55% from its $74 million debut, marking a far better hold than recent Marvel adventures that slid significantly in their second weekends, such as February’s “Captain America: Brave New World” (down 68% in its sophomore outing), 2023’s “Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” (down 70%), “The Marvels” (down a whopping 78%) and 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder” (down 67%).
“Thunderbolts*” started softer than all of those tentpoles (except for “The Marvels”), but solid reviews and positive word-of-mouth could help the movie stick around on the big screen. After opening weekend, Disney tried to stoke interest in “Thunderbolts*” by unveiling the meaning behind the asterisk in the film’s title — the ragtag group at the helm will henceforth be known as “The New Avengers.” The studio also revealed the motley crew of antiheroes will make...

Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts leads the domestic box office for a second weekend. The film brought in an estimated $9 million on Friday, and current projections place its weekend total above $130 million in North America.
The Friday-to-Friday decline stands near 53%. Among 36 MCU releases, that rate ranks among the ten lowest second-weekend drops. This result places Thunderbolts between Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals in terms of eight-day domestic earnings. The film remains available in IMAX and premium formats, which continue to drive ticket sales.
The budget for Thunderbolts is estimated at $180 million, with promotional expenses nearing $100 million. It currently faces no new wide-release competition until next week, when the horror sequel Final Destination: Bloodlines is set to open.
Internationally, the Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan-led ensemble is expected to surpass $200 million by Sunday. The film’s hold is tracking better than that of Captain America: Brave New World,...

Kerry Washington as Syrah in Shadow Force. Photo Credit: Juan Pablo Gutierrez/Lionsgate Copyright © 2025 Lionsgate Emmy winner Kerry Washington goes effortlessly between drama, comedy, and now, pulse-pounding action, redefining on-screen adaptability once again. In Washington’s most recent project, the fast-paced action film Shadow Force, she not just stars but also produces. The film plunges viewers into the perilous world of a former shadow ops unit. Years after leaving the dangerous life behind, an estranged couple finds themselves targeted by their past. With a bounty on their heads, they must go on the run, desperately fighting to protect their son and outmaneuver the very organization that once employed them. Washington recalls the serendipitous moment the project came her way during the demanding production of the limited series Little Fires Everywhere. Producer Stephen Love’s compelling pitch and the script’s unique blend of high stakes and familiar action tropes immediately captivated her.

Box Office: ‘Thunderbolts*’ on Top Again in Second Weekend, ‘Sinners’ Crossing $200 Million Domestic

“Thunderbolts*” will enjoy another weekend atop domestic box office charts, with no new major wide release until next week’s horror sequel “Final Destination: Bloodlines.”
Marvel’s “Thunderbolts*” added another $9 million on Friday. Disney’s superhero ensemble feature, still playing Imax and premium large-format auditoriums, has now crossed $100 million in North America and will look to push north of $130 million by the end of the weekend.
That would mark about a 53% fall from the “Thunderbolts*” opening weekend. Indeed, much stronger reviews and positive fan reception did indicate this Marvel Cinematic Universe entry would possess more staying power than its predecessor, “Captain America: Brave New World,” which crumbled more than 68% in its sophomore frame back in February. To compare it to other recent MCU entries centered on lesser-known heroes, “Thunderbolts*” is pacing between “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” ($119 million through eight days) and “Eternals” ($99 million through eight days).

Just in time for Mommy Appreciation Day, Kerry Washington has just the movie for you. It has romance, it has family values... and it even has guns blazing. No, not figuratively. Fresh off her leading turn in Tyler Perry's The Six Triple Eight for Netflix, the Emmy-winning actress is back in action for another film where she means business. This time around, however, it's a little more fun, despite the hard R-rated violence and tense drama surrounding her embattled character's perpetual drive to protect her son.
From Lionsgate, Shadow Force sees Washington starring opposite the reliably appealing Omar Sy (Lupin). They play a pair of elite international assassins on the run from their former employer who has placed a $25 million bounty on their heads for ditching their organization to start a family. What a nerve. MovieWeb recently caught up with Washington to learn more about her exciting new action...

Let’s face it: Family life and being members of an elite assassination squad just don’t mix.
It’s hopefully a problem to which few readers can relate, but it afflicts the central characters of Joe Carnahan’s new action film, which quietly snuck into theaters without advance screenings. Kerry Washington and Omar Sy play Kyrah and Issac, who used to be members of the titular organization until they made the mistake of falling in love and having a baby. They’ve since gone rogue, but in a modern manner: Issac stays home and cares for their young son Ky (Jahleel Kamara, adorable), while Kyrah remains in the field to eliminate the many assassins who’ve been assigned to kill them for their transgression. As Issac explains to his son, he and Kyrah used to be bad guys, doing “God’s dirty work” around the globe before they realized...

Antiheroes are blowing up the box office again as Marvel Studios‘ Thunderbolts* looks to punch its way to $100M on Friday with an estimated $30M second weekend take at the box office. It’s safe to say Thunderbolts* will retain its spot at the top of the charts until next week when New Line’s anticipated horror film Final Destination: Bloodlines brings unpredictable deaths back to theaters for the first time since 2011’s Final Destination 5. Analysts expect Bloodlines to make a $30M-$40M killing at the box office during its debut.

Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner is switching out his bow and arrow for a little cloak and dagger, as he is starring in Netflix's Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third Benoit Blanc whodunnit from Rian Johnson. There are very few details about the central case that Daniel Craig's renowned detective will be investigating, leaving audiences to search for clues and breadcrumbs of information — but it's all very hush-hush, even for the cast, as Renner recently compared the project to being "like a Marvel movie" due to its secrecy.

It’s been about five months since Hulu’s legal drama Reasonable Doubt was renewed for a third season, but sadly, no premiere date has been announced as of this writing. Nevertheless, the streamer has confirmed that filming is ongoing in Atlanta, which TV Insider reported, while also dropping a terrific casting update in the shape of Morris Chestnut. Chestnut has been most recently seen leading the CBS medical-mystery series Watson, which premiered earlier in January and has already been renewed for another run.
When Reasonable Doubt returns, Chestnut will reprise his role as Corey Cash in a recurring capacity. At the outset, Shadow Force positions itself as a portrait of exile and allegiance: ex‑shadow operatives turned family on the run (one sentence logline). It wears the trappings of a high‑stakes spy thriller—gunmetal skies, clandestine radio chatter—yet pulses with the quiet anxieties of domestic drama.
Joe Carnahan—whose résumé boasts Smokin’ Aces and Boss Level—returns to familiar territory, trading gritty grain and blown‑out hues for a muted palette that feels less “artistic choice” than “entirely color‑blind” (an occasional downside of modern streaming aesthetics given theatrical release). Kerry Washington anchors the film as Kyrah, a mother driven by equal parts ferocity and guilt; Omar Sy’s Isaac pairs paternal warmth with calibrated lethality; and Mark Strong’s Jack Cinder looms as a cynical patriarch of bureaucracy and bullets.
The opening tableau is deceptively serene: Isaac teaching five‑year‑old Ky to hum Lionel Richie...

Plot: An estranged couple with a bounty on their heads must go on the run with their son to avoid their former employer, a unit of shadow ops that has been sent to kill them.
Review: Joe Carnahan‘s name really used to mean something in the action space. And I’d argue that he still does to some extent (with a ton of anticipation for his recently wrapped Affleck/Damon flick Rip). And I love that Kerry Washington is getting into the world of guns and mayhem. Sadly, their latest film, Shadow Force, fails to get me excited for either’s output in the genre, as it’s a pale retread of better films.
I was shocked by how much of Shadow Force consists of characters simply talking. When the whole plot is “former shadow ops are hunted down by their former team/employer” you expect a lot more action.

When a now-defunct celebrity couple attempted to make like Nick and Nora Charles meets “Mission: Impossible” in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” two decades ago, the high-concept, high-budget results were a mixed bag — which didn’t stop them from being imitated ever since. The latest duo to step into similar matching marital bulletproof vests is Kerry Washington and Omar Sy, playing globetrotting “elite special operators” now hiding from their former colleagues in “Shadow Force.”
It takes a certain esprit to pull off this kind of bombastic yet larky star vehicle. Joe Carnahan’s film provides passable diversion for a couple hours, but the fun to be had is limited by uninspired action staging, less-than-sparkling dialogue and a maudlin streak of the “It’s about family!!” type. Lionsgate’s theatrical release looks likelier to find its primary audience once it reaches home formats.
Kyrah (Washington) and Isaac (Sy) are a couple who met on the job.

If you know anything about Shadow Force, you’ll probably only know the badly over-photoshopped faces of Kerry Washington and Omar Sy, the corny font, and the basic design of the poster at your local movie theater. It seems like the type of film you can easily skip because if you’ve seen one terrible action flick, you’ve seen them all. For Shadow Force, think again. What lies underneath the cheap marketing is a surprisingly fun, exciting action flick with strong performances and a nice pace.
Shadow Force Review
Joe Carnahan has made a career out of ridiculous action flicks. Boss Level was a surprising standout in a deeply bland and frenetic library. Between this and the Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Steven Yeun starrer Rip that releases later this year on Netflix, Carnahan’s career is looking up.
Kerry Washington as Syrah and Jahleel Kamera as Ky in Shadow Force.

Director Joe Carnahan’s limply made thriller about an estranged couple of elite operatives is a lazy grab bag of exhaustingly familiar cliches
Maybe the new action movie Shadow Force is just deserts for film fans who complain when seemingly surefire big-screen hits such as Another Simple Favor debut as streaming-only releases. Shadow Force has a premise almost comically adherent to the fixations of so many big-budget streaming movies: elite operatives Kyrah (Kerry Washington) and Isaac (Omar Sy) must fight for their lives and their family when they defy the rules of their, yes, shadowy employers by falling in love and having a child. It shares familiar components including charismatic stars, spy action, domestic strife and semi-slapstick violence with projects such as Back in Action (Netflix), Role Play (Prime Video) and Ghosted (Apple TV+), among others. With director Joe Carnahan, it even has a once edgy stylist who used to deal in gritty grain,...

Jeremy Renner may be best known for playing Hawkeye in the MCU, but don’t be surprised if his next iconic role is… Jeremy Renner? The actor recently stopped by Happy Sad Confused to promote his memoir My Next Breath, but naturally the conversation turned to his upcoming role in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third film in Rian Johnson’s hit whodunnit series. And yes — after Glass Onion made “Jeremy Renner’s hot sauce” canon in the Knives Out universe, Renner still finds himself hilariously navigating that meta mess.
“So we had a great conversation about a year ago… I was joking with you about your hot sauce cameo,” host Josh Horowitz recalled. “And I said the one downside, Jeremy, thinking I’m so smart — one downside, obviously, is you can’t be in a Knives Out movie because it’s canon. Jeremy Renner is in that universe.

She has one of the most impressive directing résumé in the business, with credits including Mad Men, Homeland, Justified, The Morning Show, and, most recently, Netflix’s Robert De Niro-starrer Zero Day. So much so that Lesli Linka Glatter sits atop the Directors Guild as president — what she jokingly refers to her “volunteer” job — where her current mission is to bring film and TV production back to Los Angeles. Levels have reached record lows — down 40 percent — thanks to the “triple whammy” of Covid, the strikes, and the fallout of the recent wildfires, which claimed her own home in the Pacific Palisades as well.
“I came of age when you’d go on a studio lot, and it would be filled with productions,” says Glatter. “And now I’m looking around now going, 'Ok, there's just one or two productions here.' And that hurts our whole city.”

There may not be any guests on this week's Pilot TV Podcast, but there's still stars in abundance across the shows James Dyer, Boyd Hilton, and Kay Ribeiro are casting their critical eye over here. For starters, Alan Alda’s The Four Seasons gets a modern glow-up with Steve Carell, Tina Fey, and Colman Domingo on Netflix this week. There's also Season 2 of Rian Johnson’s Sky and Now bound murder mystery Poker Face, which sees Natasha Lyonne's bullshit detecting amateur sleuth Charlie Cale return alongside a stacked guest star line-up — including multiple Cynthia Erivos, John Mulaney, Awkwafina, Taylor Schilling, and Justin Theroux. And last but by no means least, Malpractice returns with more embattled medics on ITV, bringing us a new leading trio comprising Tom Hughes, Selin Hizli, and Zoë Telford.

This year’s Met Gala theme was a tricky one — Black Dandyism — and the invitation didn’t come with any instructions. Guests were mostly left to their own devices to interpret what exactly that meant on the red carpet. And boy, did some of them interpret, with jaw-dropping looks ascending the Met’s 154-foot staircase.
Still, it was almost as if Anna Wintour had sent out a secret group chat (she didn’t, unless Jeffrey Goldberg knows something), with outfits following some very clear themes. Many women arrived with gleaming, Joesphine Baker-style marcel waves, while a lot of men sported glossy hair, top hats and tails that trailed like wedding trains. Everybody carried accessories galore — including one that looked suspiciously like a large garbage bag.

Brooch sales should skyrocket among anyone who paid attention to Monday’s Met Gala red carpet — without a doubt the night’s key accessory, brooches adorned every jacket lapel and closed the collar of many a button-down shirt. Other stars got a little more creative, like Lewis Hamilton, who affixed a Briony Raymond brooch to his beret, or Zendaya, who went rogue and placed a Bulgari Serpenti brooch on the back of her Louis Vuitton suit jacket.
Jewelers should be thrilled in general with their presence on the 2025 Met Gala carpet, as they played perfectly into the night’s key dressing theme of dandyism, embraced with equal verve by men and women. So what exactly did that asterisk mean after all in the Thunderbolts* title? Today, Marvel finally answered that question on its social media handles as well as in top market outdoor ads.
That asterisk denotes the movie’s sub-title *The New Avengers which this ragtag group of Winter Soldier, Ghost, John Walker, Alexei Shostakov and Yelena Belova represents. They’re all expected to segue to Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Doomsday which will fire off next summer, May 1, 2026.
We hear from Disney that the studio didn’t technically re-title Thunderbolts* (that would be crazy), rather just spelled out that asterisk.
The last-minute marketing stunt comes in the wake of Thunderbolts* opening to $74M (instead of the reported $76M) after an estimated $18M Sunday, -27% from Saturday’s $24.5M. Disney will be reporting their official figure soon. The Jake Schreier directed movie had great exits with an A- CinemaScore, 94% Rotten Tomatoes...

Rian Johnson is determined to have Netflix “wake up” to the current rise in in-person movie-going. Johnson, whose third “Knives Out” film “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” will be released this fall, told Business Insider that amid the theatrical successes of “Sinners” and “A Minecraft Movie,” Netflix should have no qualms releasing “Knives Out” on the big screen.

It’s something that I love and I want more of in the world.”

Sunday Am: Refresh for chart and more analysis …..Thunderbolts* at a $76M opening, isn’t the most stellar of Disney Marvel Studios’ openings, but, heck, this is significantly better than the start of summer a year ago when Universal made a go with the original action romcom, The Fall Guy, which fell on his face with a $27.7M start. With a $162.1M global opening, Thunderbolts* is just $3M shy of where we forecasted. The movie cost before P&a, $180M.
EntTelligence reports that 4.7M people went to see Thunderbolts* this weekend, 1M less than Captain America: Brave New World.
There can be agita in the industry when a movie doesn’t exactly wow and kick off summer with a $100M-plus opening, however Thunderbolts* start isn’t anything to worry about knowing that Memorial Day is teed up for a possible record-breaking 4-day weekend with Disney’s Lilo & Stitch eyeing at least...

Kerry Washington and Omar Sy had a lot to talk about when they appeared on The View on Friday, May 2 — including their new action movie, Shadow Force — but View cohost Ana Navarro wanted the deets on Washington’s Desperate Housewives reboot, Wisteria Lane. “This one I’m very excited about — one of my favorite shows,” Navarro said. “It is rumored that you are working on a remake of Desperate Housewives.” As Sy reacted with gleeful surprise — apparently hearing the news for the first time — Washington gave a precious few details about the project. “It’s inspired [by Desperate Housewives],” she said. “I can’t say too much — it’s very newly announced, it’s in development. … The idea is that it’s new times, there’s new challenges, it’s like, what happens on that cul-de-sac now? And so it’s exciting.” Navarro tried to pry casting info out of Washington — asking,...

Director Rian Johnson has made clear his preference for a wide theatrical release of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third film in his popular whodunit series. His comments come as Netflix leadership signals a shift away from traditional moviegoing models.
Johnson, speaking to Business Insider, addressed the distribution plans for the upcoming release. “I want this in as many theaters for as long as possible,” he said. “We’re going to push for everything we can get in terms of theatrical because I want as many people as possible to see it in that form.”
The remarks were prompted by comments from Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos, who described the movie theater model as outdated for much of the audience. During an appearance at the TIME100 Summit, Sarandos said, “I believe it is an outmoded idea, for most people — not for everybody.” He acknowledged the appeal of...

During an appearance on The View Friday for her new movie with Omar Sy Shadow Force, Kerry Washington confirmed Deadline’s exclusive report from earlier this week about Wisteria Lane, a reimagining of the hit ABC mystery dramedy series Desperate Housewives, which is in development at Onyx Collective through Washington‘s Simpson Street production company.
When The View co-host Ana Navarro referred to the project as a “Desperate Housewives remake,” Washington tried to correct her, noting that “it’s inspired” by the popular 2004 series.
“I can’t say too much — it’s very newly announced, it’s in development,” Washington said. “The idea is that it’s new times, there’s new challenges, it’s like — what happens on that cul-de-sac now? It’s really exciting.”
When she was quizzed by Navarro whether Wisteria Lane would feature “new women, old women?,” meaning new or original characters, Washington was coy, shutting...
