Updated, Day 46: After visiting many, many picket lines over the last month, we’ve learned that lots of pickets signs are reused for conservation purposes. And to that we say — screw the recycling. Bring on more of those sweet corporate burns!
Fortunately, many of the scribes haven’t lost their saucy touch.
“Let them drink Dom,” says one Zaslav-themed confection.
“Ted Sarandos ate my son,” says another.

The series' penultimate episode did its job, but not much more.
NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 Episode 20 was a placeholder, in between Callen gaining needed revelations about his Drona Project past on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 Episode 19 and the series conclusion.
A placeholder before the Callen-Anna wedding. That's appropriate, right?
To remember that NCIS: Los Angeles is a procedural, there had to be one last case with a name guest star, in this case, mixed-martial arts star Randy Couture.
Couture has been making a name as an action actor over the past two decades (and let's not forget Dancing With the Stars). But this was his first visit to the NCIS universe.
Hey, how about this as a spin-off? NCIS: Chokehold, starring Couture and Bill Goldberg. Fill out the cast with a diverse handful of lesser-known actors and bring in Hulk Hogan as the squad's wily leader.
If the writers' strike lingers,...

Paul Rudd returns as Ant-Man on Feb. 17 with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the second sequel for Disney’s diminutive Marvel character, but he’s not the first actor to memorably portray an insect superhero.
In November 2001, Fox launched the live-action series The Tick, which starred Patrick Warburton as the well-meaning but clueless crime fighter who wore a blue suit with wiggly antennae. Ben Edlund created the satirical comic book series in 1988 while in his teens, and it spawned a 1994 Fox animated series that lasted three seasons. Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black), whose shingle landed the character rights, was a fan of the cartoon and saw Warburton as the perfect fit for Edlund’s pilot.
“Ben wrote a fantastic script, and then the joy was casting it,” Sonnenfeld tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve always loved Patrick Warburton’s acting. He’s so flat and handsome and has that — I...

The Tick, out now on Amazon Prime Video, is huge fun. Here's how the show achieves what its creator envisioned 21 years ago...
In 1994, I was about to be a freshman in high school. Despite being “too old” for cartoons, there wasn’t really anything else on television on Saturday mornings while I was waiting for wrestling to show up on my television screen. I remember most of the cartoons I saw only in the vaguest terms: the creepy face of Louie Anderson’s gargoyle animated child or a screaming purple cat. I know the name of both shows because I looked them up prior to writing this article, but I couldn’t tell you anything about them. However, one show I watched regularly in the mid to late 90s stuck with me well into adulthood, and that’s the 1994-96 animated version of The Tick.

When Ben Edlund first created the character The Tick as a newsletter mascot for New England Comics, he could hardly have known that his creation would be embraced by millions as a popular icon. Now, thirty years later, the writer and artist finds himself breathing new, live-action life into the concept, as Amazon orders a series pilot.
First appearing in 1986 as a spoof comic book superhero, The Tick earned his own independent comic book series in 1988, which was adapted into an animated series in 1994. A 9 episode live-action series aired on Fox in 2001, and starred Patrick Warburton as the titular hero, supported by David Burke, Nestor Carbonell and Liz Vassey.
For those unfamiliar with the character, the Tick has super human strength and mass, and is almost invulnerable. He also has “drama power,” which causes his super powers to increase in conjunction with the level of dramatic tension in a situation...

Spoon! The Tick could be coming back to life. Yes, we're talking about that show based on a comic book from the 1980s that also had a cartoon in the 1990s. Patrick Warburton, David Burke, Nestor Carbonell and Liz Vassey starred in the very short-lived—we're talking nine episodes—series for Fox that ran from 2001-2002. Creator Ben Edlund confirmed revival talks on Twitter, but didn't share many more details. "Yes for now suffice it to say the dream of a new live-action Tick is being pursued with vigor #bringbackTheTick," he tweeted. The Tick followed a superhero with immense strength and mass. His background changed from comic to cartoon to series, but in the...

A rumor started speading that Patrick Warburton may be coming back to the Cathode Ray Tubes of our hearts!
The Tick was originally created in 1986 by Ben Edlund as a mascot for the New England Comics newsletters. He quickly won the hearts of the American people and became a successful Saturday morning cartoon through the Fox network in 1994, lasting 3 seasons.
After the shows success Fox decided to up the ante by making it a live-action show starring Patrick Warburton as The Tick, David Burke as Arthur, Nestor Carbonell as Batmanuel, and Liz Vassey as Captain Liberty. However, true to form, Fox, pulled the plug after only nine episodes...Nine...even though everyone loved it and so did the cast and crew.
Toon Disney and ABC Family picked up the cartoon in 2005 before it was finally released on DVD.

It only lasted nine episodes on TV back in 2001 and delivered paltry ratings, but for those who enjoy their comedies on the cult side, The Tick remains a fond memory. Now it appears that the show – including star Patrick Warburton – could get a second chance at life via Amazon.Originally created by Ben Edlund in 1986 as a newsletter mascot for a comic shop, the character evolved into an indie comic in 1988 before graduating to bigger things with an animated series that ran for three seasons starting in 1994. From there, it spawned the live-action series that featured Warburton as the titular goof, a good-natured parody of superheroes. David Burke played Arthur, his put-upon sidekick, while Liz Vassey was female hero Captain Liberty and Nestor Carbonell was Batmanuel who… look, you can work it out from the name, okay? Despite great reviews, the series was soon shut down even though the character...

A surprise report has popped up indicating both Fox and Amazon have made a deal for the latter to do a new live-action series based on Ben Edlund‘s "The Tick".
The original Fox series aired in 2001 and revolved around a giant, good-natured if somewhat dimwitted and bumbling superhero played by Patrick Warburton. Along the way he was helped by his moth-costumed sidekick Arthur (David Burke), wannabe lothario Batmanuel (Nestor Carbonell), and buxom beauty Captain Liberty (Liz Vassey).
Though it ran for just nine episodes, it's looked back on fondly as being ahead of its time and is a cult hit thanks to its affectionate skewering of superhero stories.
Now, People magazine has reported on the news saying that Warburton "recently inked a deal with Amazon and Sony to reprise his role, with Edlund producing and writing."
None of the stars or company's mentioned in the report have confirmed the...

It sounds like the "big blue bug of justice" might be returning. According to a People source, Amazon has made a deal to revive The Tick as a TV series.
According to the report, Patrick Warburton has signed a deal with Sony and Amazon to reprise his comedy hero role. Ben Edlund, creator of The Tick comic books, will produce and write the new TV show.
The Tick was created in 1986 as a mascot for the New England Comics chain of comic stores. He became the subject of his own comic in 1988 and then a Fox animated series that ran for three seasons in the 1990s.
Starring Warburton, David Burke, Nestor Carbonell, and Liz Vassey, the live-action version of The Tick debuted in 2001 but didn't find a large audience. It was cancelled after nine episodes, in early...

Exclusive: NBC has put in development My Parents Are Too F**king Happy, a single-camera comedy from feature writer Heather Hach (Freaky Friday, What To Expect When You’re Expecting) and Krysten Ritter‘s Silent Machine Entertainment. Written by Hach and produced by Universal TV, the project is an irreverent comedy about three romantically inept siblings who have been emotionally traumatized by their parents’ blissfully perfect marriage. This marks the second sale for Silent Machine in its first development cycle under the first-look deal the company inked with Uni TV in February, in conjunction of Ritter’s casting in the NBC/Uni TV comedy pilot Assistance, which remains in contention. Silent Machine, which Ritter runs with Lindsey Liberatore, also has an NBC bowling comedy with writer Liz Vassey and Kapital Entertainment. Exclusive: NBC has closed deals for a comedy project from two actresses in writer-producer roles. The network has put in development a multi-camera comedy executive produced by Don’t Trust The B star Krysten Ritter and Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment and written by CSI alumna Liz Vassey through Universal TV. Based on an idea by Kaplan, the comedy revolves around a group of six friends who meet each Wednesday night for their weekly bowling league and centers on two of them — a couple, now broken up, who refuse to give up custody of their bowling league. Kaplan took the idea to Ritter, an avid bowling fan, who came on board as an executive producer. Vassey, who has developed with NBC and Uni TV in the past, was tapped to pen the script. She previously co-wrote an episode of CSI while she was a cast member on the veteran CBS crime drama.

The May finale of CSI brought with it the end of two eras: Nate Haskell as a serial killer; and Lawrence Fishburne as Ray Langston.
When CBS filled the latter void with Ted Danson, I wondered if the man responsible for Sam Malone and Dr. Becker could pull off such a serious role as D.B. Russell. But the result has been a welcome and refreshing change that makes me excited to review CSI every Wednesday night for the rest of the season.
D.B. has quirks that reminded me of Grissom. He's a lot lighter and more bohemian than Langston ever could have been. The writers also brought him in at the top of the investigative food chain, with Catherine being demoted due to her involvement with Langston’s adventure in Los Angeles.

Two More Comedies for ABC & NBC
Both ABC and NBC have decided to spruce up their line-ups and have purchased a sitcom each for next year.

Ashton Kutcher joins "Two and a Half Men" but is the show better?

Nick (George Eads) and Ray (Laurence Fishburne) talk of Ray's impending court hearing with Nate Haskell (Bill Irwin) . Nick needs to get to the gym or he'll never go. Ray: "Are you felling obligated to leave Doc Robbins (Robert David Hall) a good-looking corpse." To which Nick replies, "Yeah, something like that." Hey his hair's grown back, now any chance of George leaving it like that! Anyway, prophetic words from Ray regarding Nick, as he almost does meet his doom. Ray tells him he's putting on his game face for the trial. Nick retorts he should give Haskell hell, but he's bound for there anyway. Ray and Haskell prepare for court simultaneously and you know from Haskell's smirk he's got something up his sleeve, literally. In court, Haskell comments the last three days he's been trying to control the monster and the media are portraying him as such. Hey that's Ray's word,...

Can you guys believe that we only have another five episodes to go and then nothing until September? Where did this season go? Because it feels like yesterday that we were all excited that Castle was coming back for season 3.
This last stretch of episodes will most likely be pretty fantastic so they can pave the way for season 4. And according to the latest spoilers, it looks like things will be pretty interesting (La episode, anyone?)
In "Slice of Death", however, Castle and Beckett will be investigating the case of a guy who was found dead inside a pizza oven. As if that wasn’t freaky - and disgusting - enough, they discover that the victim was a reporter that had been working on a story called “Pizza Wars" and not anyone even remotely associated with the restaurant. CSI’s alum, Liz Vassey, will guest star as Monica Wyatt, a...

Castle fans have been bombarded this past week with an overwhelming amount of spoilers for the last stretch of season 3 of our favorite dramedy television show. Not that we are complaining or anything, right? This time, I bring you the promotional photos for episode 20 – entitled "Slice of Death” – which ABC has released tonight.
Castle and Beckett will investigate the case of a man found dead inside a pizza oven. As if that wasn’t freaky enough, it turns out that it was a reporter, that had been working on a story called “Pizza Wars and not anyone even remotely associated with the restaurant. CSI’s alum, Liz Vassey, will guest star as a real state broker who will find herself caught up in the middle of the investigation.
In case you haven’t seen the spoilers released earlier this week, you should do so right now – unless you are deathly...

A gruesome, gut-wrenching opening (no pun) as a tortured man is fed some soup which contains shredded credit card. Ray (Laurence Fishburne), Nick (George Eads) and Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) are called to a Cs where the truck driver reported something oozing from his truck. Ray tests the ooze which turns out to be blood. Ray comments on 666 being the call sign for suspicious ooze, the 'primordial variety' after Nick asks what the call sign is for this. Ray was also thinking of buying a cappuccino machine, which he says after the truck is opened to reveal shredded rubbish and Db parts, identified by Nick. Ray comes across a bit of a shredded credit card and Brass finds a human eye. "Here's lookin' at you kid." The driver works for a disposal company, where the manager, Tom is questioned. The plant shreds all kinds of material, but maintains a body couldn't...

Former CSI star Liz Vassey is to appear in an upcoming episode of Castle. TV Line reports that the actress will play a real estate broker who becomes caught up in a murder investigation. Vassey played lab tech Wendy Simms on CSI from 2005 to 2010, but was axed from the CBS series prior to its eleventh season. She recently featured in a recurring (more)...

Liz Vassey is coming to Castle.
This is welcome news for CSI fans, who were disappointed in how Vassey was let go from that CBS drama last summer.
According to TV Line, the actress will appear on a spring episode of the ABC hit. She'll portray a a real estate broker who gets caught in the middle of a New York City pizza war. Don't scoff. They take pizza really seriously there.

Former CSI lab rat Liz Vassey is returning to primetime in an episode of Castle, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Vassey — whose departure from CSI this fall drew a loud rebuke from fans — will play a real estate broker who gets caught in the middle of New York’s pizza wars. Think Famous Rays vs. Original Rays, only with different names and an extra topping of murder.
Vassey’s ep is slated to air in the spring.

Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) and Vartann (Alex Carter) 'gettin' it on', interspersed with the Vic being chased and killed - and the five announcer (UK channel where the show is aired) warning us of violent scenes from the outset.) This scene not left to our imaginations. (Wonder what Marg made of it all, ha. I know it's only acting...) They then arrive at the Cs and Vartann tells Catherine that the speed limit isn't a "suggestion." Catherine: "You gonna give me a ticket, copper." A Db is found with his head on a spike and Ray (Laurence Fishburne) comments on the terror in his eyes - he knew he was going to die. Or rather it wasn't just the terror, but who actually did the dirty deed. (See later.) Catherine tells from the amount of blood on the ground that he was still alive when beheaded. Ray notices the blood moon...

The shark attack in the pool in the opening scene was more of an episode storyline you would acquaint with CSI:Miami (TV) than Vegas. But at least it was different, though I didn't much like this episode, it wasn't as explosive and fast paced as the season opener. Yet it did have some redeeming features, such as allowing Wendy (Liz Vassey) to come back to give a proper ending to her character. She will be missed. Also Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) having a "Kodak" moment about her late father. Also the story of casino bosses rivalries is the usual stuff of Vegas and has been covered before in the show. This is Brass's (Paul Guilfoyle) "first shark call out" as he puts it and that was the first of many puns and fishy jokes floating around throughout the whole episode, as was expected. Also got that 'funny' music you associate with...

Ray (Laurence Fishburne) is rushed to hospital after being stabbed by Haskell (Bill Irwin) and whilst there he hallucinates him escaping his handcuffs and being attacked by him. He comes out of it when he hears Nick (George Eads) saying he'll be okay. Glad Jorga came back, she was missed! Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) worries about her team, which some may call being too emotional for a woman! But she's got the right balance between knowing when to show emotion and when to be heavy-handed. At the funeral of Officer Clark (Reggie Vaughn Watkins), Nick is asked to leave by Brass (Paul Guilfoyle). "Sometimes the best thing to do is to just walk away." Understanding Officer Clark's family's grief, but that was a harsh thing to do, it's not his fault he died in the line of duty and Nick wasn't the one who pulled the trigger. Nick is clearly hurt...
