The new season of Criminal Minds: Evolution is going to be “a really hot one” for deviant UnSubs, Aisha Tyler promised during her visit to TVLine’s NYC video studio this week.

The Season 18 premiere (now streaming on Paramount+) picks up six months after Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) took that beating in prison, and now, even in his (seemingly?) compromised state, the Bau will need to try and work with him, again, to shut down the network of serial killers left in Sicarius’ wake.

When we last saw the team at the end of season 23, Elias Voit had been sent to prison. After CBS ended the police procedural drama Criminal Minds in 2022, Paramount+ revived the series two years later, dubbing it Criminal Minds: Evolution. Although the series continued with many characters from the original, some fan-favorite characters didn't return, including Matthew Gray Gubler's Spencer Reid.

Gubler was a series regular on the original Criminal Minds series, which ran between 2005 and 2020. He didn't return for the first two seasons, but he is set to make his return in Criminal Minds: Evolution's Season 3, the show's overall eighteenth season, which is set to premiere on May 8. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Erica Meeser confirmed Gubler's big return.

I'm not kidding when I say they surprised us. Criminal Minds rarely releases updates, besides an occasional Paget Brewster tweet slip. Other than that, fans don't know much until close to release.

Along with Voit and the Bau team returning, Matthew Gray Gubler's anticipated return is finally happening. I'm a Spencer Reid fan, and I'll be glad to see him, but I can already feel my heart breaking for what he's possibly going to endure.

For the better part of the last two decades, Criminal Minds has entertained audiences with its gripping portrayal of criminal profiling, intense psychological drama, and compelling characters.

Not only did the series offer a deep dive into the world of crime and police procedures, but its emotional depth and complex storyline have often captivated viewers.

Things turned wild after Wayne Brady’s gesture toward a Let’s Make a Deal contestant.

The game show host called a contestant onto the stage dressed as Strawberry Shortcake and conversed with her about the character.

“My sister loved Strawberry Shortcake as a kid, so I remember the outfit,” Wayne said.

Out of nowhere, he noticed that the contestant, seated on a tall chair, dropped one of her shoes.

“I didn’t even notice. Sorry to point that out. Here,” he said as he walked over and picked up the shoe.

Wayne put the shoe back on the woman’s foot in a genuinely kind gesture. However, things escalated after that.

Paramount+ today announced that the hit original crime series Criminal Minds: Evolution has been renewed for Season 19.

Additionally, Season 18 will premiere on May 8, exclusively on the platform. The 10-episode season will drop weekly on Thursdays.

The streamer has renewed the show for another season, which will be the fourth since Evolution was added to its title upon its revival at Paramount+ and the 19th for the series as a whole, including its long run on CBS. (Paramount+ is referring to the renewal as season 19.)

Season 18 of the series will debut on Paramount+ on May 8, with new episodes dropping weekly thereafter. “Evolution” picks up after the events of the original “Criminal Minds,” which aired on CBS for 15 seasons.

Speculation about a renewal for Season 4 (overall Season 19 across Criminal Minds and Evolution) started when production on Season 3 (Season 18 overall) wrapped in December, with star Paget Brewster writing on X at the time that “we are optimistic we’ll get a season 19.”
