She was born in Glasgow, Scotland and died in Stratford, Ontario. She developed her long career throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and North America. Her first professional appearance was with the George Balanchine Ballet in London, England. After World War II, she came to Montreal and she continued her acting career with the Montreal Repertory Theatre. On stage, she had played theaters on both sides of the Atlantic, including the London Palladium, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, the Meadow Brooke Theatre. Also, she received a Guthrie Award for her many contributions to the Stratford Festival. Her film and television credits include, Shadowdancing, opposite Christopher Plummer, Storm of the Century, Santa Who, Night Heat, Hot Shots, Inside Stories, Friday the 13th and Dog House, but her best-known roles are the Great Aunt Eliza in Road to Avonlea and Cousin Jessie in Wind at My Back, for which she received a Gemini Award for Best Supporting Actress.
