- Mike Stoker was born on June 25, 1941 in San Francisco, California, USA. He is an actor, known for Emergency! (1972).
- An actual Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighter, at the time with Station 69 in Topanga Canyon, California, Stoker was selected for the show because a real engineer was needed to drive and operate the (very expensive) fire engine. Stoker was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, and could therefore be featured in the series.
- Stoker was promoted from "Specialist Firefighter" (the role he played in the series) to "Captain" in 1978, shortly after the series concluded. He stayed with the Los Angeles County Fire Department until 1996, where he retired with the rank of Captain from Station 106 in Rolling Hills Estates, California. Station 106 was mentioned many times in the series when multiple stations were called out on a fire.
