5 One Chicago characters who left the franchise too soon
Image
Chicago Fire is about to sever ties with two adored characters: Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) and Sam Carver (Jake Lockett). At the very least, these two have multiple seasons to develop their personas and establish fanbases. The same can't be said for some of their predecessors.

Sometimes, things happen, and characters leave shows before it feels like their arcs have come to a proper close. One Chicago has over a dozen seasons in the books, so there are plenty of examples to choose from, but we decided to focus on the ones that only lasted a season (or less).

These are the cops, firefighters and doctors we would've liked more time with.

Wealthiest 'House' Stars Revealed, Estimated Net Worth Ranked From Lowest to Highest
Image
Can you believe it’s been over 20 years since House first debuted?!

The award-winning Fox medical drama centered on Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), who is devoid of anything resembling bedside manner and wouldn’t even talk to his patients if he could get away with it. Dealing with his own constant physical pain, he uses a cane that seems to punctuate his acerbic, brutally honest demeanor.

While his behavior can border on antisocial, House is a brilliant diagnostician whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts afford him widespread respect. An infectious disease specialist, House thrives on the challenge of solving medical puzzles in order to save lives.

Among the cast include stars like Robert Sean Leonard, Omar Epps, Jesse Spencer, Lisa Edelstein, Jennifer Morrison, Peter Jacobson, Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, Amber Tamblyn, Odette Annable and Charlyne Yi.

First premiering in November 2004, the series ran for eight seasons and wrapped in...

Chicago Fire is about to recycle a tense season 11 storyline (with the same Med cameo)
Image
Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) has become one of the most important characters on Chicago Med. She went from recurring presence to anchoring doctor, but we're not here to talk about that. Instead, we're here to discuss the unique yet profound impact that her presence has had on two episodes of Chicago Fire.

The character is set to return to the firefighting drama for the episode "Cut Me Open." She will be on hand to help a woman give birth to a child that will be adopted by Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney). The woman experiences complications, leading to Asher calling for a C-section to be performed, and hand wringing on the parts of Kidd and Severide.

Stellaride's adoption was almost derailed by this forgotten Chicago Fire storyline
Image
Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) have been together for a long time, and they are finally taking the next step in their lives as a couple. They are going to adopt a newborn as their own. This emotional season 13 arc would not have been possible, however, if a forgotten arc during the show's first and second seasons had gone a bit differently.

Severide has had several romances over the course of Chicago Fire, so it can be hard to recall the details of all of them. Instead of building up to a place where Severide felt ready to become a dad, though, the series nearly dropped a child onto his lap during the season 1 episode "A Hell of a Ride."

These Chicago Fire actor statements confirm it was Not their idea to exit the show
Image
We collectively experienced a punch to the gut when we learned that Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett would be leaving Chicago Fire. It was not the news we wanted to hear as we waited on a season 14 renewal, and based on the statements both actors made in the aftermath of this announcement, it isn't the news they wanted to hear either.

Look, we've heard and read several exit statements over the years. We've seen dozens of One Chicago stars pack up and leave, whether it be Jesse Spencer and Kara Killmer on Chicago Fire or Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos on Chicago Pd. The thing that makes their statements a bit different from Kyri and Lockett's, however, is the acknowledgment that it was their decision.

Why Jennifer Morrison's Dr. Allison Cameron Left House M.D.
Image
Let it never be said "House, M.D." let something as insignificant as facts get in the way of a brain-tickling mystery. For eight seasons, David Shore's Fox TV drama centered around the weekly cases of the titular, misanthropic, prodigious diagnostician and the team of doctors who spent almost as much time begging him to seek therapy for his assorted traumas as they did helping him diagnose his aggrieved patients. The show's actual medical accuracy ranged all over the place on a scale of remarkably correct to flaming garbage, but you know what? It had a damn effective formula, which provided a framework upon which the series' writers could hang all manner of soapy dramatics.

Although they would eventually escalate things to the level of having House drive his car into the home of his colleague turned ex-girlfriend Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), the "House" writing staff started out simpler with a good old-fashioned will-they-or-won't-they.

4 Chicago Fire characters who Cannot be written off the show in season 14
Image
We know who's leaving Chicago Fire in the upcoming season. Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) and Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) have been shown the door, even though there are a few episodes left in the current season. We're not here to talk about them, though. We're here to discuss the characters who are essential to the show's make up.

Ritter and Carver are going to be major losses, but the show will survive without them. The four characters we've selected below are exceptions to this rule. It would be hard to imagine Chicago Fire without them, and as such, we're confident they will stick around for season 14. At least we hope. My goodness, can you imagine?

Stella and Severide's Journey to Parenthood Begins in New 'Chicago Fire' Season 13, Episode 20 Sneak Peek
Image
The One Chicago universe is vast, and has, over the years, thrown up lovely romances for audiences to sink their teeth into. While Chicago P.D. offers up the Burzek romance, its counterpart, Chicago Fire, brings the romance of Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and her husband, Kelly Severide's (Taylor Kinney) to the fore. The pair have handled several challenges to their relationship, navigating tricky waters and are now at a crossroads. They desire an expansion to their family, and it is coming in Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 20. "With the crew stretched thin, a performance efficiency expert evaluates Firehouse 51; Kidd and Severide bond with the mother of the baby they hope to adopt," the official logline for the show's next episode reads.

Besides providing a synopsis for an episode which is set to air on May 7 on NBC, the network has also released a sneak peek teasing what lies ahead. "There is a woman in Med,...

Chicago Fire might've just ended this character's career and we don't understand why
Image
Chicago Fire went into the episode "Post Mortem" promising blood. It was heavily implied that 51 would be losing one of their own after a tragic accident occurs on the job. And it did, albeit, not in the way we expected. Nobody died in "Post Mortem," contrary to its title. But we did see Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) nearly die after a building collapse left him with internal bleeding.

Damon's identity is kept a secret for the majority of the episode, and even when its confirmed that he was the firefighter who sparked the entire 51 investigation, there's uncertainty as to whether he will survive. Thankfully, he pulls through, and gets through his surgery intact. It's possible that Damon will never put out another fire. Which leads us to ask: what has the point of his entire season 13 arc been?

We don't want Chicago Pd to continue this alarming trend with Burzek's wedding
Image
We are excited to see Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) get married. These two have been through lots of starts and stops when it comes to their romance, and it feels as though they've truly deserved their happy ending at the altar. Well, happy resolution might be a better word.

The notion of an "ending" kind of ties in with out underlying concern, though. One Chicago has treated fans to multiple weddings over the years. These episodes are typically season finales or mid-season finales, and they are a celebration of their respective shows as much as they are the couples getting married.

Chicago Fire's new transfer could fill the void left by these beloved firefighters
Image
Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) is, for many, one of the best characters in Chicago Fire history. He was not without his flaws, but he radiated decency during his time on the show, and managed a positive outlook in even the most dire of situations.

He was the perfect counterbalance to Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), who has also been more of a rogue and someone prone to going with his gut. Severide is still around, obviously, but we have all been looking for another Casey. And we may have found our best candidate yet.

4 Chicago Pd characters who should return to the show for Burzek's wedding
Image
We have been waiting a long, long time to see Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) get married. They have had a very bumpy road to the altar, but they have persevered, and we couldn't be happier for them. Unfortunately, a lot of the friends they've made along the way have left Chicago Pd.

Chicago Fire and Chicago Med have proven that weddings are as good a reason as any to bring back beloved characters. We saw Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) return in order to serve as the best man for his buddy, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), on Fire, and we're hoping Chicago Pd uses their big union to do something similar. These are the characters we have on our fantasy guest list.

4 Chicago Fire characters we'd love to see return for cameos in 2025
Image
Chicago Fire is going to be bringing back Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker). We're pretty stoked. It's been a long wait to get to the former 51 Chief, and he will be returning at a pretty critical time in the Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) tenure. Pascal is not dealing with the trauma of his wife's death in a particularly healthy manner, and Boden will all but certainly notice.

Boden's return got us thinking about all the Chicago Fire characters who have come and gone over the years. The ones who haven't died on the job, and simply decided to move on to different places and chapters in their lives. We decided to jot down the characters who we'd like to see return for a cameo, in an effort to manifest it actually happening.

4 short-lived Chicago Fire characters you probably forgot were on the show

Chicago Fire is a revolving door. There have been tons of characters who have stuck around for the long haul, of course, but most have been written out of the show, or gotten married and moved on to different careers. We remember them, and we miss them.

Some characters, however, don't stick around long enough to solidify their Chicago Fire legacy. They were compelling while on the show, but they left so quickly that their impact is barely felt in seasons that follow. This article is meant to shine a light on them, and recount why they left.

This Chicago Fire floater could be the secret to Chief Pascal's character arc
Image
Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) may be a newcomer relative to the rest of the Chicago Fire cast, but he is front and center in the current season 13 storyline. He's had to contend with the death of his wife, Monica (KaDee Strickland), and suffice to say, he's not doing a great job.

The promo for the March 26 episode confirms that Pascal is letting grief get the best of him, and its compromising his ability to lead Firehouse 51. We have even seen characters like Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) voice concern for the longevity of his time at 51. This dilemma reminded us of another 51 character who came and went: Brett Dalton.

Chicago Fire boss confirms that Stellaride's adopted baby is "on the way"
Image
Chicago Fire struck a pretty compelling balance during the episode "Too Close." A lot of the attention went toward Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), and the tragic death of his wife. The second most important developement in the episode, though, was the confirmation that Stellaride are going to be parents.

The couple were told at the episode's onset that they have been approved for adoption. It's a thrilling revelation, but one that Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) have been reluctant to share given Pascal's grim news. Don't worry, though, there will be plenty of time to gush over the Stellaride baby in upcoming episodes.

Chicago Fire deaths in order: Every major character who has died in the show
Image
Chicago Fire puts characters in danger on a weekly basis. We see firefighters and medics putting their lives on the line to protect others. Unfortunately, it doesn't always end well. There have been several deaths over the course of the show's 13 seasons. Some of which, we are still reeling from.

In an effort to celebrate, grieve, and simply remember the Chicago Fire characters who have fallen, we decided to compile a list of every major death that has occurred, from the pilot to the present. It gets a little bleak, but such are the risks of the job. Our one rule is that the character in question had to have worked as a firefighter/medic.

The 15 Best House M.D. Episodes Ranked

Nowadays, Fox's "House M.D." almost feels like a relic of a different time in television history, in which a network show with over 20 episodes a year could still be essentially a prestige concoction, carried by smart, profound writing, heady themes, and ambitious character work, while still conforming enough to a cozy weekly formula to become a ratings hit -- one massive enough to cost Hugh Laurie his role in "Superman Returns," no less.

While some of the show's 177 episodes are so similar as to start blurring into each other in retrospect, many "House" episodes have stood the test of time as first-rate hours of television by any reasonable criteria -- installments in which Dr. Gregory House was not just one of the greatest detectives in TV history, but a catalyst for searching and creative storytelling that used medicine to reflect on the mysteries of the human soul.

Former Chicago Fire star arrested after shocking Florida bar fight
Image
Chicago Fire characters have always gotten into tricky situations. They have been arrested, involved in physical altercations, and punished for their actions. Look at Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) or Sam Carver (Jake Lockett). One Chicago Fire alum has suffered consequences from a real life altercation, though.

Eric Mabius was arrested on Thursday, February 20. The actor, who played Jack Nesbitt on Chicago Fire, was allegedly involved in a confrontation with a woman at a Florida bar. Police told Hello Magazine that Mabius was "belligerent" and pushed the aforementioned woman to the ground. She'd be told to leave the bar shortly before, and allegedly began spitting at the bartender.

The situation got worse, apparently. A separate TMZ report claimed that the actor pushed another woman to the ground, and ripped a handful of hair from her scalp in the process.

Chicago Pd just referenced its pilot in season 12 and we got goosebumps
Image
Chicago Pd continues to deliver the goods in season 12. The police drama not only benefited from the recent One Chicago crossover, but a focused, character-driven approach that has yielded some of the best episodes in recent memory.

It's been fun to see the veteran characters change over time, and come to the realization of what's important to them. We have watched Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) get engaged, and Kevin Atwater (Laroyce Hawkins) become the change he wants to see in his community. The episode "Street Jesus," however, presented us with an unexpected throwback to the mindset Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) had in the pilot.

Richest 'House' Cast Members Revealed, Wealthiest Stars Ranked Lowest to Highest Estimated Net Worth

House is officially two decades old!

The medical drama first premiered in November 2004 on Fox, and it went on for eight seasons, before ending in May 2012.

The Emmy-winning series focused on Dr. Gregory House, who is devoid of anything resembling bedside manner and wouldn’t even talk to his patients if he could get away with it.

Starring in the show included Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard, Omar Epps, Jesse Spencer, Lisa Edelstein, Jennifer Morrison, Peter Jacobson, Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, Amber Tamblyn, Odette Annable and Charlyne Yi.

Chicago Fire spoilers hint at the possible return of actress Caitlin Carver.

Caitlin played Paramedic Emma Jacobs, the former partner of Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith).

Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) was out visiting Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) in Portland, necessitating a fill-in partner for Violet.

Enter Emma Jacobs, who was keen on taking a permanent spot at Firehouse 51. It even led her to try to get Violet fired.

Emma’s attempt to blackmail Violet and Evan Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas) backfired, and she was removed from the firehouse.

Later, Emma reappeared as someone working in the Internal Affairs Department for the Cfd. Emma threatened Violet and her firehouse again, but Violet found a recording by Evan that proved she had been blackmailing people.

We haven’t heard from Emma in a while, but it was assumed that she still lived somewhere in Chicago.

"We Never Think of These Characters As Gone": 'Chicago Fire' Showrunner Teases Brett and Casey a Year After Departure
Image
Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) left the Windy City in Chicago Fire Season 12. In the sixth episode, "Port in the Storm," the couple finalized their nuptials and pursued a new life with their new kids in Oregon. Close to one year later, updates about how they are doing have not been forthcoming, but Chicago Fire's showrunner Andrea Newman promises it will be remedied. “It’s so funny because we never think of these characters as gone,” Newman told TV Line. While the characters could show up at any time, there are currently no plans for that to happen, but the showrunner promised the show would not forget about them. In Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 12, Carver mentions that Casey has heavily influenced Stella's style as a lieutenant. Newman teased some updates about what #Brettsey is up to, saying:...

Chicago Fire boss confirms life updates on This beloved couple in season 13
Image
Chicago Fire has had lots of couples come and go over the years. We just saw one of them, Stellaride, decide to adopt a child in a recent episode. It can be extremely satisfying to watch characters find the right one for them and ride off into the sunset, ostensibly offscreen.

It can be tough, though, when we want to know what happened to them, or how they are doing. Well, thankfully, Chicago Fire is going to satiate this desire. Andrea Newman, Fire's showrunner, confirmed that we will be getting updates on a couple that left during season 12 and moved to Oregon.

Chicago Fire just recycled a storyline we've seen many, many times before
Image
Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) made a big decision on the Chicago Fire episode "Relief Cut." The couple have been flirting with the idea of having kids, and they decided to do so in the episode's final scene.

Kidd is hesitant to get pregnant, though. The character asked whether Severide would be open to adopting instead, and in a very sweet moment, he agreed. Kidd was taken in by her aunt and uncle after her parents died, so the parallel is very touching. The thing is, we've seen this storyline before. We've seen it a lot, actually.

Stellaride is going

Chicago Fire has subjected fans to several adoptions over the years. In fact, it's harder to find a couple on the show that didn't adopt, than one that did. Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) basically went the adoption route twice during his time at Firehouse 51. He...

Chicago Fire star teases role reversal for Cruz and his brother in season 13
Image
Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) has been the central focus of Chicago Fire over the last few episodes. It's easy to see why. The character has broken lots of rules, dating back to season one, and his past caught up with him in a big way.

Cruz was able to come clean about his mistakes with minimal punishment. Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) gave him a slap on the wrist, aka two week suspension without pay. The peace that's been made with 51 superiors does not mean that Cruz is out of the woods, though.

'Chicago Fire' Season 13 Release Schedule
Image
Six episodes remain in Chicago Fire's 13th Season, rounding out a 15-part arc airing on NBC between September 2024 and February 2025. Of course, with the NFL's 59th Superbowl slated for February 9, 2025, some releases could shift to accommodate the big game. As such, it's worth keeping track of when, how, and where to catch the final six chapters of the long-running medical procedural.

When Chicago Fire returns for Season 13, Episode 10, "Chaos Theory," much of the drama will focus on a community center emergency that requires a response from the Chicago Fire Department team. Elsewhere, Lt. Severide (Taylor Kinney) may expose a corrupt team member, an internal department struggle that will surely set up the drama in the remaining five episodes. Without further ado, Chicago Fire's Season 13 release schedule lies ahead.

Chicago Fire star playfully teases Chicago Med cast ahead of crossover
Image
We are inching closer and closer to the hallowed One Chicago crossover. An event that has been six years in the making. The 2020 pandemic happened more recently than the last three part crossover, which also, interestingly enough, dealt with a deadly virus.

We digress. One Chicago is gearing up for another storyline that stretches across three hours. There will even be some exciting switch ups occurring with regard to scheduling. Chicago Med usually kicks things off, but Wednesday, January 29 will flip the script and start with Chicago Fire before pivoting to Med and Chicago Pd.

Chicago Fire might have a romance problem in season 13 (here's why)
Image
Chicago Fire has dished out some exciting storylines and established new characters in season 13. The feedback from longtime fans on social media, however, is that the current season isn't hitting in the way that some of its predecessors did. There's something missing, something that is failing to generate the sparks of some of Fire's finest moments.

We obviously don't have a way of knowing what the lack of spark is for each viewer, but one thing that has jumped out to us during season 13 is the curious lack of romance. Chicago Fire is a melodramatic show in all the best ways, and part of what powers a melodrama is romantic tension. Historically, the show has always had at one least one couple who are in the midst of breaking up, reuniting, or finding out they have feelings for each other.

Chicago Fire has been light on the love stories Chicago Fire...

Chicago Fire Season 13's Throwback Storyline Is The Perfect Opportunity For Matt Casey's Return
Image
Following its winter break, Chicago Fire season 13 returns with its second half in 2025, focusing on one storyline that began in season 1 and is the perfect excuse to bring back Matt Casey. Jesse Spencer, who played Casey, exited the NBC procedural drama during season 10. To explain his absence, Casey moved to Oregon to serve as Andrew Darden's sons' legal guardian after their mother was arrested. Since then, Spencer has returned to Chicago Fire a handful of times, whether it was to work on a special task force concerning terrorism or to marry Sylvie Brett.

New episodes of Chicago Fire season 13 air on Wednesdays at 9 pm Et on NBC. Season 13 is expected to have 22 episodes.

After Casey and Brett's wedding in Chicago Fire season 12, neither has come back to Firehouse 51. However, one tense storyline in season 13 could give cause to Casey's return. NBC hasn't announced that Spencer is reprising his Chicago Fire...

Monica Raymund's new TV role is going to devastate Chicago Fire fans
Image
Monica Raymund will always hold a special place in the hearts of Chicago Fire fans. She played Gabriela Dawson for several seasons, and her romance with Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer), while complicated, was one of the defining relationships on the show.

Raymund left Chicago Fire in season 6, then again in season 8 after a brief cameo. It was sad to see her go, but it has also been exciting to see her venture out and attempt different roles on the small screen. One Chicago fans perked up when they saw Raymund was cast in the new Prime show On Call. A Dick Wolf production, On Call seemed like a perfect use of the actor's skill set.

Monica Raymund starred in the On Call pilot Troian Bellisario (Traci Harmon) & Brandon Larracuente (Alex Diaz) in On Call.

It was, in some ways. Monica Raymund was a no-brainer to implement in another procedural drama,...

10 Best Movies Like Legally Blonde
Image
For whatever reason, Hollywood doesn't produce movies like "Legally Blonde" anymore. Brightly colored, fun, and undeniably optimistic, this Reese Witherspoon comedy succinctly captures the zeitgeist of the early 2000s, and it now serves as a time capsule to a more innocent time when it felt possible for a fashion merchandising student to usurp the Harvard snobs and become a full-fledged lawyer. Truly, director Robert Luketic's upbeat tone, to say nothing of Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith's snappy script, is a key reason for the film's enduring success -- it's the perfect underdog tale, featuring a likable character worth rooting for and an uplifting message about staying true to yourself and persevering in the face of adversity.

"Legally Blonde" earned solid reviews from critics, earned a pair of Golden Globe nominations, including one for Witherspoon, made a killing at the box office, led to two sequels (and counting), and even spawned a musical.

Most surprising One Chicago moments of 2024
Image
2024 was a roller coaster of a year for the One Chicago franchise that included some cast exits, cast introductions, weddings, and plenty of shockers. And it was still a year that had many memorable and surprising moments.

That being said, between all three shows in the franchise, 2024 brought some surprisingly great moments that were also arguably some of the best. Whether heartwarming or heart-pounding, the franchise kept fans on the edge of their seats, and I can only imagine that 2025 will do the same thing.
