Taron Egerton is coming back to Apple TV+ with a new series for the streamer this summer. Make sure you're on the lookout for Smoke next month! And just based on the cast and the first-looks provided by the streamer for this show, we're going to be hooked.

Smoke premieres Friday, June 27, 2025 on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes. Then going forward, one new installment of the 9-episode series will be released until the finale. The last episode will drop Friday, Aug. 15, 2025. There is no trailer yet, but plenty of first-look images for us to feast our eyes on and get us geared up for what's to come.

Trying debuted on Apple TV+ in 2020 and follows a couple who struggle to conceive a child and opt to adopt. The series stars Rafe Spall and BAFTA-nominated actress Esther Smith as Nikki and Jason, who adopt two children named Princess and Tyler. Per Deadline, Trying has been renewed for its fifth season on Apple TV+.

The upcoming Season 5 will focus on Nikki and Jason dealing with Princess and Tyler’s biological mother, Kat, played by Charlotte Riley, after she unexpectedly comes into their lives. Kat’s arrival turns the family’s routine upside down. Trying was one of the first TV shows from Jay Hunt’s Apple Europe team, and is one of the longest-running shows on the streamer.

Following his acclaimed run as this year’s Oscars host, Conan O’Brien is back for the second season of “Conan O’Brien Must Go,” featuring Oscar winners Taika Waititi (“Jojo Rabbit”) and Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”).

In this new season, O’Brien continues his trek around the world by visiting New Zealand, Austria and Spain. The official synopsis reads: “In this riotously funny travel series, Conan O’Brien experiences local cultures and connects with fans he previously met on his podcast.”

Season 2 drops after Season 3 officially was officially greenlit, meaning that more adventures around the world are in store for O’Brien. Variety‘s review of Season 1 noted that “the encounters work because O’Brien doesn’t treat his new friends as fools — rather, he revels in the fact that he is the fool.”

The three-episode season debuts Thursday, May 8. O’Brien and Jeff Ross executive produce while Conaco produces.

“The Order” (2024) is a brooding investigative thriller that puts another feather in director Justin Kurzel’s cap. After the chilling character portraits in “Nitram” and “The Snowtown Murders,” Kurzel returns with an equally harrowing depiction of evil in human beings. This time, he shifts his focus toward a White Supremacist terrorist group that was active in the 1980s. He paints the picture of a small American town mainly through the eyes of an FBI agent, who ends up in a cat-and-mouse chase with the terrorist group’s members. Although the plot essentially leads us toward its leader’s capture, it is more interested in interrogating the human tendencies that affect the usual order of any place, and how people react in such situations of change.

The criminally underrated The Order did not gain as much attention as other titles released on the big screen in 2024. Cynthia Erivo and Monica Barbaro are being celebrated!

The two Oscar-nominated actress stepped out for Women in Film’s 2025 Oscar Nominees Celebration on Friday evening (February 28) held at Wheelhouse in West Hollywood, Calif.

If you didn’t know, Cynthia, 38, is nominated for Best Actress for Wicked while Monica, 34, is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for A Complete Unknown.

Fellow Oscar nominees included songwriter Diane Warren, The Substance director Coralie Fargeat, The Brutalist screenwriter Mona Fastvold, and Anora producer Samantha Quan.

Storm Reid, Dove Cameron, Jurnee Smollett, Jane Seymour and boyfriend John Zambetti, Lilly Singh, Victoria Justice, and Karen Pittman were also at the event.

The stars are stepping out for Essence‘s big event!

Keke Palmer, Taraji P. Henson, Cynthia Erivo, and Teyana Taylor were among the many stars at the 2025 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards on Thursday afternoon (February 27) at Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

The annual event, which had the “Scene and Unseen” theme this year, honored Cynthia, Teyana, Marla Gibbs, and Raamla Mohamed. The event is “spotlighting the stories, performances, and contributions that often go overlooked, even as they shape the fabric of the entertainment industry.”

Exclusive: Lincoln Child’s New York Times bestselling book series Jeremy Logan, is being put into feature development at Amazon MGM Studios with Safehouse Pictures producing.

Jeremy Lott and Cory Goodman are writing the script. The film will follow Jeremy Logan who is a self-proclaimed “enigmatologist,” an investigator who works to debunk the paranormal and unexplained using modern science. The Jeremy Logan books include the Child’s novels Deep Storm, Terminal Freeze, The Third Gate, The Forgotten Room, Full Wolf Moon, and Chrysalis.

The film will fall under Safehouse Pictures’ first-look film deal with the studio, with Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell producing.

In their misguided vision for a DC franchise, the studio tried many things unsuccessfully before opting for a complete restructuring under James Gunn.

The Dceu already underwent several course corrections before the restructuring, resulting in a bunch of canceled or abandoned projects. After the new regime took over control, all planned films in the former Dceu were effectively canceled.

After multiple issues, controversies, personnel changes, and mergers, the Dceu is finally done and dusted, with James Gunn taking over the reins as co-chief of DC Studios along with Peter Safran. The franchise, which was supposed to be a competitor to the MCU, crashed and burned but it was not without some genuinely good films.

The SnyderVerse is never happening. It is a miracle that fans even got the Snyder Cut. However, like how Gunn took the disastrous Suicide Squad and gave it a good direction with The Suicide Squad, there are a few more films from the Dceu that deserved better. Viewers who enjoyed Netflix's thriller movie Carry-On have several upcoming Taron Egerton films and a brand-new television series to look forward to. Egerton leads the cast of Carry-On alongside Jason Bateman (Ozark), Sofia Carson (Descendants), Danielle Deadwyler (The Piano Lesson), and Theo Rossi (The Penguin). Carry-On received a Rotten Tomatoes score of 88% and has remained one of the top movies on Netflix since it was released on the streaming platform on December 13, 2024.

Carry-On was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra based on a screenplay written by T.J. Fixman (Ratchet & Clank). It follows Egerton's protagonist Ethan Kopek, a young Tsa agent who is blackmailed by a mysterious traveler (Bateman) into letting a dangerous package slip through securtiy and onto a crowded flight on Christmas Eve.
