The women of 1923 didn’t just endure hardship — they embodied it.
And in the wake of a devastating finale, Michelle Randolph (Elizabeth) and Aminah Nieves (Teonna) sat down with TV Fanatic to unpack what survival really looks like when your entire world has been turned upside down.
(TV Fanatic)
For Michelle, Elizabeth’s exit from the Dutton family wasn’t bitter — it was just… empty.
“I understand why she walked away and why she should,” Michelle says, reflecting on how Elizabeth’s story mirrored the emotional wrap of filming itself.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the 1923 Season 2 finale, “A Dream and a Memory.”] Well, that happened. After grueling journeys home that stretched across the entire second season, Taylor Sheridan ended 1923 Season 2 (and presumably the series at large) with tragedy. Like the final season of Yellowstone before it, the western drama was riddled with shocking deaths for its characters in Season 2. The most shocking was saved for the very end. Here, Sklenar and Schlaepfer react to 1923‘s ending with TV Insider, revealing why they expected this conclusion to the Yellowstone origin story. Spencer and Alex finally reunited about halfway through the nearly two-hour episode that dropped on Sunday, April 6 on Paramount+. They didn’t reunite at Spencer’s home in Montana as originally planned. Their reunion was more miraculous than that, but the miracles would end soon after. Lauren Smith / Paramount+ Season 2’s penultimate episode ended with Alex stranded in a snow drift with no means of escape. In ...

What can possibly come after this?
1923 Season 2 Episode 6 wiped out seven characters and left another without much hope of survival. I fear that Taylor Sheridan has no happy endings in store for the Duttons, no matter when or where they live.
Watching a TV show can alter your mood. I’ve been carrying around this sense of grief for two weeks now, and I’m not even sure how to unpack it.
(Trae Patton/Paramount+)
The good news is that you’re all here beside me now. We can grieve together. And although it makes no sense whatsoever for me that Alex could possibly survive, the description for 1923 Season 2 Episode 7 suggests that she “braves the cold.”
If Paul could barely get 15 feet in the blistering cold, I don’t see how a pregnant woman stands a chance amidst snow drifts and miles of barren land.

It’s fair to say that season 2 of1923 has been nothing short of heartbreaking, frustrating, and intense. It’s also arguably the best season of the Paramount+ series so far, and we can’t take our eyes off it. We’re already five episodes in, and while much has happened to move our story forward, just as much has happened to stall it in place. With the finish line near, you’ll want to be sure and catch the impending fate of the Dutton family in the last episode. So when can you watch?
The 1923 season 2 finale premieres Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 12 a.m. Pt on Paramount+. That is season 2 episode 7, "A Dream and a Memory." This season is one episode shorter than season 1, however the super long run time definitely makes up for it. According to Collider, the last episode comes in at almost two hours! We're in for a long night.

Life is relentlessly difficult for the Duttons, and Paramount+’s 1923 season two episode six delivers a series of heartbreaking events. Just when you think the key characters are finally edging closer to a reunion at Yellowstone Ranch, the writers pull the rug out from under them.
And now our recap of season two episode six, “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters.” There are spoilers ahead!
The Duttons gather around the breakfast table for a relatively peaceful breakfast that doesn’t hint at the battle looming on the horizon. This is a full scene-by-scene recap of 1923 Season 2 Episode 5, “Only Gunshots to Guide Us.” For a full episode discussion, please visit our 1923 Season 2 Episode 5 review.
Father Renaud is panicking as cowboys run a herd of cattle through town. He’s pressed against a door to keep himself safe.
He’s on the way to the Cattlemen’s Club, a saloon and steakhouse, to peer into the windows. The nasty marshal is talking with Anders (C. Thomas Howell has a name!) inside about Teonna.
(Lauren Smith/Paramount+)
The marshal is waxing poetic about the lack of evolution the Native Americans have chosen, calling Teonna a bridge between the two worlds. She decided to remain an animal, lusting for the kill, and like the wolf, must be erased from this planet.
Anders hasn’t seen her, despite what the cowboy who rode with him said. Now, the cowboy changes his tune.

Spencer finally caught a break on 1923 Season 2 Episode 5, but nobody else was as fortunate.
Is this the first episode all season where we haven’t had a single scene from the Yellowstone ranch?
It was an awkward hour that didn’t do much other than remind us that Taylor Sheridan’s version of America is built on misery, and not much else.
(Courtesy of Paramount+)
There were only three story elements for “Only Gunshots to Guide Us,” and it was one of the few times that I couldn’t peg the title reference.
The entire hour settled on Alex and Spencer’s separate journeys through America, along with the seemingly never-ending and pointless hunt for Teonna.

Paramount+’s 1923 season two episode moves the chess pieces ever so slightly. Spencer and Alexandra are on American soil, but neither is having an easy time as they head to Montana. Winter’s still wreaking havoc on the Yellowstone, but at least James has returned home safely. Meanwhile, Teonna’s group remains a step ahead of the law in Texas.
And now on to our full spoiler-filled recap.
James Dutton (Harrison Ford), his men, and Zane’s family survive the blizzard but must use the wagon for firewood. The severely injured Zane (Brian Geraghty) is forced to ride back to the ranch on horseback along with everyone else.
At the Yellowstone, the bodies of the deceased wolf and nurse are removed from the big house. Elizabeth (Michelle Randolph) huddles in the bathroom, refusing to acknowledge the obvious.

Taylor Sheridan took Hollywood by surprise when “Yellowstone” quietly became one of the biggest TV hits of the last decade. The monster success of that show even convinced Paramount to reverse course on a plan to turn Paramount Network, where the neo-Western airs, into a movies-only channel.
But no one is surprised now, as Sheridan has since created a sprawling TV empire for the studio centered on Paramount+. Alongside “Yellowstone” spinoffs “1883” and “1923,” the hit Sylvester Stallone drama “Tulsa King,” Jeremy Renner’s small town noir series “Mayor of Kingstown,” the biographical drama “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” starring David Oyelowo and Dennis Quaid, “Special Ops: Lioness” with Zoe Saldaña and “Landman” starring Billy Bob Thornton prove Sheridan is no flash in the pan.

If you wondered how 1923 Season 2 might unfold, the tale may be in the titles of the first three episodes.
We begin with “The Killing Season,” followed by “The Rapist is Winter,” and finally, “Wrap Thee in Terror.”
Those are not playful titles. They’re brutal and frightening, and if 1923 Season 2 Episode 1 is any indication, they mean business. But it could very well be that the Duttons will prevail while their natural and human enemies feel the brunt of the sword.

That’s not a big surprise. The Duttons have been fighting for their lives, land, and livelihood since we first met them.

Paramount+’s 1923 season two episode one arrives two years after the first season’s finale. Season one followed three distinct storylines, but season two expands that to four, spending time separately with Spencer and his new bride, Alexandra. The first season ended with Cara and Jacob Dutton desperate for Spencer to return home and help save the ranch from ruthless tycoon Donald Whitfield. Meanwhile, Spencer was booted off a ship after a deadly encounter with Alex’s jealous ex, Arthur. Forcefully separated, Alex vowed to find a way to follow him to America.
The third storyline followed Teonna Rainwater who’s was on the run from Father Renaud and Marshal Kent after murdering abusive nuns (who deserved it) at a Catholic school. The first episode of season two checks in on all four storylines,...

Spencer Dutton’s journey in 1923 has been nothing short of epic.
From the battlefields of World War I to the untamed wilderness of Africa and now, a desperate race back home, his story has captivated fans.
And according to Brandon Sklenar, the stakes have never been higher.

After spending all of 1923 Season 1 learning to love again, Spencer was violently separated from Alexandra, leaving him in an emotional freefall. So, where is his head as he fights to get home?
“He’s carrying a lot of weight on his shoulders,” Sklenar admitted. “He feels an immense responsibility to get home, to defend his family, to hopefully have a family to get home to, and to find his wife and build a life with her.”

Taylor Sheridan tells stories that stick with you.
His shows take us into parts of American life that don’t usually make it to TV.
From Yellowstone to Lioness, he doesn’t just entertain — he shows us struggles and realities we might not see otherwise.
(Paramount+/Screenshot) Giving Voice to Unseen Worlds
Sheridan’s stories feel real because they’re rooted in truth. Yellowstone is a perfect example: the Dutton family fights to hold onto their Montana ranch, but it’s about more than just land.
It’s about identity, heritage, and keeping a way of life alive as the world changes around them. The prequels, 1883 and 1923, go back to show how that legacy was built through grit and sacrifice.
Then there’s Landman. Sheridan takes on the oil business, digging into the complicated lives of the people who keep the world running.

Horror movies are the perfect films to watch during Halloween, making it the holiday of choice for many of them. Eli Roth's slasher movie Thanksgiving brought a heaping helping of horror on another day of the year. While it's certainly a change of pace, it's not the only explicitly holiday-themed scary movie.
Christmas is another popular time to spread holiday fear, with some movies decking the halls with bowels of victims. Conversely, one fearsome movie explores the concept of a particularly bad birthday through the lens of another "holiday" movie. Add in a European pagan celebration for the changing of seasons, and it's clear that Thanksgiving will have some seasonal competition from discerning movie lovers.

The horror genre keeps churning out great movies, such as the intoxicating Hugh Grant thriller Heretic. Part of its success is how it's able to produce movies that not only terrify audiences with gross-out scenes or a well-timed jump-scare, but also be a ton of fun. A great example of this is the Terrifier series, with Terrifier 3's funniest moments arriving among the requisite brutality and gore. Thanks mainly to Art the Clown's silent, but deadly, humor.
However, it's not just more recent horror films that have managed to be creepy as all hell, while bringing some solid fun along the way. Classic franchises have gained popularity thanks to quick-witted villains like Freddy Krueger, who is also incredibly creepy. The great thing about the horror genre is its ability to bring audiences together, to share an experience that'll be intense, and uncomfortable at times, but also a lot of fun.

Trick 'r Treat fans just got a much-needed update about the franchise's big-screen future. Michael Doughtery, who wrote and directed the original horror movie, recently offered a positive update on the long-gestating sequel.
In a new commentary track for Trick 'r Treat, released in Arrow Video's 4K Ultra HD edition of the movie, Dougherty opened up about the difficulties plaguing the sequel, which was first announced back in 2013. "Its tricky, because I think we really did capture lightning in a bottle with this one, and it nearly killed me. What a lot of people dont realize is that the bulk of our favorite horror movies, especially the ones that introduced new horror icons, were all independent movies," said Dougherty (via Bloody Disgusting) about having to work within the studio system for Trick 'r Treat.

Several key characters left the cast of CSI before the show's end, either due to creative decisions or actors wanting to pursue other opportunities. Some characters were killed off while others left the CSI team for various reasons, including burnout and conflicts with other characters. The departures of these characters were not always amicable, and behind-the-scenes drama did play a role in some cases.

One of Justin Timberlake's most recent movies, alongside a Ted Lasso star, is making waves on an underrated streaming platform. Palmer, the 2021 teen drama starring Timberlake, Juno Temple, Alisha Wainwright, and Ryder Allen, is currently the number six most popular movie on Apple TV+. Fisher Stevens, who you may know from playing Hugo Baker on the hit HBO series Succession, directed Palmer, with a script from Cheryl Guerriero. Palmer is Guerriero's only writing credit since 2013 since writing Hunting Season, the drama/thriller starring Lauren Lee Smith and David Sutcliffe. Palmer currently sits at a "certified fresh" 72% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, accompanied by an even higher 88% audience score.

CSI franchise started in 2000 with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, running for 15 years with 3 spinoffs. CSI crossover episodes are common, with backdoor pilot episodes introducing new characters and premises for spinoffs. Crossovers between CSI teams, like "Manhattan Manhunt" and "CSI Trilogy," keep fans engaged with the interconnected universe.
Shared universes may have become the norm for popular franchises, but the CSI crossover episodes were common in the shows before so many movies were doing it. The CSI franchise started in 2000 with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, a show that later would also be known as CSI: Las Vegas. The story about a team of forensic scientists working to solve the strangest cases in Las Vegas was simple but interesting enough to create a thrilling show that would air for 15 years and see three spinoffs and a revival, CSI: Vegas.
The first CSI spinoff was CSI: Miami, a show that started in 2002 and ran for 10 seasons.

Lauren Smith, the 36-year-old home cook from Santa Monica, California was eliminated in 11th place on Thursday’s episode of “Next Level Chef.” Despite Team Richard Blais cooking in the top kitchen, Lauren struggled to find the ingredients she needed on the platform and found herself up for elimination against Team Nyesha Arrington‘s Mada Abdelhamid. Watch her exclusive video interview with Gold Derby above.
“It was just a bad grab,” she tells Gold Derby. “I grabbed that bell pepper and I just didn’t know what to do with it. I didn’t grab enough. Also, just the pressure of being in the top kitchen. We were used to the ‘Blaisment.’ I was comfortable down there.”

Arceli “Ari” Pulido, the 31-year-old professional chef from San Diego, California was eliminated in 14th place on Thursday’s episode of “Next Level Chef.” Despite Team Nyesha Arrington cooking in the top kitchen, Ari struggled in the “Curry in a Hurry” challenge. “Curry is not usually in a hurry,” she tells Gold Derby senior editor Denton Davidson. Watch her exclusive video interview above.
Ari explains that being a professional chef may have actually worked against her in this specific challenge, where the cooks had just 30 minutes to prepare a dish. “It takes away from the art of it,” she says. “I cook very passionately. The instances in which Netflix has licensed a meh show and turned it into a hit are well-documented. The so-called “Netflix Effect” has perhaps never been more perfectly demonstrated than this summer with “Suits,” an old USA Network legal drama that spent a record 12 straight weeks as the no. 1 title across all of streaming, per Nielsen.
Other legacy Hollywood studios have gotten the message, and the licensing (to Netflix) floodgates have opened. Not that Netflix is interested in returning the favor — and it doesn’t sound like that’s going to change anytime soon.
Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos said his platform’s “Suits” success can be attributed to “the combination of our large subscriber base and our recommendation system that knew to put ‘Suits’ in front of people who were going to love it the most.”
“That’s a reflection of what we do best,” he continued on a Tuesday conference call with the media.

Netflix is expanding its viewership data transparency with the release of its first biannual report covering six months of streaming habits on the platform, revealing for the first time how licensed content like USA Network drama “Suits” performs alongside the streamer’s originals.
The new report, titled “What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report,” covers more than 18,000 titles and nearly 100 billion hours viewed between January-June 2023. It includes: 1) hours viewed for every title (both Netflix original and licensed TV shows and movies) watched for more than 50,000 hours during that period; 2) the premiere date for any Netflix original TV series or film; and 3) whether a title was available globally.
Each piece of that information is key here, because these findings aren’t as cut and dried as Netflix’s weekly Top 10 reports and “Most Popular” lists. For example, at the top of this report is “The Night Agent,” a series that debuted...

New Delhi, Jan 17 (Ians) Former world no 1 Kento Momota had a disappointing start to 2023 season as the Japanese shuttler lost in the first round of the India Open Super 750 here on Tuesday.
Two-time former world champion lost 15-21, 11-21 to Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke, whom he had beaten in five out of six past meetings.
Momota, who captured a record 11 titles in 2019, had a forgettable campaign last year as he lost in the first round of a tournament five times, and in the second round twice and didn’t win a single trophy last season.
Coming off a victory at last month’s Japanese national championships, Momota had missed the season opener Malaysia Open Super 1000 last week, due to flu.
In women’s singles, Rio Olympic champion Carolina Marin outplayed Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 21-13, 21-18. The Spaniard had an injury setback and is on the trail to find her best form.

"Trick 'r Treat" has hit milestones many horror movies don't even dream of in the 15 years since its festival release, playing hip film festivals, earning a comic book adaptation, and even inspiring a section of Universal's Halloween Horror Nights attraction. Yet somehow, the film has never gotten a proper theatrical release until now. This fall, Warner Brothers is set to remedy that. According to the official WB Classic Films Twitter, "Trick 'r Treat" will be playing in Regal Cinemas just in time for Halloween.
The theatrical announcement seems somewhat spontaneous today, as it seems a horror-loving Twitter user was among the first to pick up on the upcoming release. On Wednesday, Twitter user @dansferatu shared a post about Regal's October lineup, which in addition to "Trick 'R Treat" includes "The Lost Boys," "Scream 2," and "Halloween."
