Imagine Mad Men without Jon Hamm’s brooding Don Draper—impossible, right? Well, it nearly happened. And oddly enough, his devastatingly good looks were the problem. Studio execs fretted that Hamm might be too handsome for viewers to buy him as the complex, troubled ad man, fearing his charm could overshadow the gritty 1960s narrative.

As if that weren’t enough, The Sopranos icon James Gandolfini almost sealed the show’s fate before it aired, as his powerhouse performance left everyone questioning if another morally gray lead could ever work. The combo of Hamm’s looks and Gandolfini’s shadow nearly killed the series, but luckily, Mad Men managed to break through—proving that charm, danger, and a killer suit could redefine TV drama.

Is Charlotte a secret Super Pac fundraiser? Would Samantha sleep with Donald Trump?
Less than two weeks before election day, these are the important questions that tens of thousands of voters need answered.
For a show that was so centered around the complexities of sexual politics among the modern metropolitan classes, HBO’s Sex and the City steered clear of party lines during its influential six-season run in the 1990s. Sure, there was an episode about abortion here and there, and Carrie briefly dated a local politician played by John Slattery, but, by and large (or Big), the Sex and the City girls didn’t dish about political donations or important referendums over their cosmopolitans. This stands in stark contrast to the sequel series, And Just Like That…, which has desperately attempted to wedge itself into national conversations about social issues with all the poise and grace of Steve trying to roll his Rs.

Ever thought about betting the farm on a hunch and coming out smelling like roses? That’s exactly what Christina Hendricks did when she hitched her wagon to the ’60s-era drama Mad Men. Well, fortune favors the bold! And, this actress owned that phrase like a boss.
When she first laid eyes on Matthew Weiner’s script, she couldn’t resist the allure of becoming Joan Holloway, the sharp-witted and glamorous secretary who would become a pivotal character in this iconic series.

But, curveball ahead! While her excitement was through the roof, her agency was singing a different tune. Instead of backing her enthusiasm, they were playing it safe and raising eyebrows. Just imagine if she had walked away from that script—we would have missed out on a career spectacle for the ages!

We’ve gotten more casting for the upcoming USA Network series The Rainmaker, so here’s what we know so far on the coming legal drama!
It’s been a while since USA Network got into scripted drama. After kicking off the big “blue sky era” of hit shows from Monk to Suits, the network scaled back in recent years. However, they’re making a big return with a direct-to-series order of a show based on John Grisham’s The Rainmaker.
Grisham is well known as the author of numerous legal thrillers, including The Firm, The Pelican Brief, The Client, and A Time To Kill. All four of those books were turned into movies, as was his 1995 novel The Rainmaker, which became a 1997 film starring Matt Damon.

Lana Parrilla fans, rejoice! The actress is set to star in a new television project, and that definitely has us excited. I personally was introduced to Parrilla thanks to her role as Regina Mills/Evil Queen on hit fantasy series Once Upon a Time. She's so talented and I've been a fan since. And like many celebs that we become fans of, we like to follow and support their careers even after that initial show has ended.
Since Once Upon a Time, the actress has starred in Paramount+'s Why Women Kill, The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix, and Jennifer Lopez movie, Atlas, which is also streaming on Netflix. And now, it's time for the next project! We'll need to tune in to new series The Rainmaker on USA Network, per Deadline. Though no release date has been shared yet, we have some information on what the series is about and who the star will play.

Milo Callaghan may have just gotten his big break after this huge booking!
The young actor has a few projects under his belt, such as Doctor Who and The Strangers: Chapter One. For Milo though, The Rainmaker could be his big break.
Based on the book of the same name, The Rainmaker follows Rudy Baylor (Callaghan) after he graduates law school. Still new to the real world, he suddenly finds himself up against well-known defense attorney Leo F. Drummond, who will be played by John Slattery.
This isn’t the first time this story has been adapted though. In fact, Matt Damon famously played the role of Rudy Baylor in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1997 film version. Milo has some big shoes to fill to say the least, but they wouldn’t have cast him if he didn’t have the chops!

Fans of the Fletch franchise might need to console themselves with a steak sandwich or two.
Greg Mottola, who directed the 2022 feature Confess, Fletch, took to social media to give an update about his planned sequel to the film that starred Jon Hamm as Irwin “Fletch” Fletcher. Hailing from Miramax, Mottola’s movie rebooted the character that originated in author Gregory Mcdonald’s novel series and was memorably played by Chevy Chase in the 1985 comedy Fletch and its sequel four years later.
After film critic Bilge Ebiri posted this week on X (formerly Twitter) that Hollywood should make more Fletch movies, Mottola pointed out that his sequel to Confess, Fletch was no longer in development, with the director attributing the setback to a change of leadership at Miramax. At the time of the Confess, Fletch release, Mottola said in an interview that he had already been hired to write a...

“I was working on both at exactly the same time,” admits Jon Hamm about his Emmy-nominated roles on “Fargo” and “The Morning Show.” In our recent webchat he adds, “It’s nice when you do two very different things, and they’re both celebrated.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
“Fargo” is the FX anthology series that takes a darkly comedic look at characters dealing with life and crime in the Midwest. In the fifth installment, Hamm plays Sheriff Roy Tillman, who brands himself as a patriot while trying to kidnap his ex-wife Dot (Juno Temple). Hamm explains, “There’s a real danger to him and that’s the biggest surprise people got from me. You could make an argument that Don Draper (from “Mad Men”) was unscrupulous and duplicitous for sure. But Roy Tillman murders people while cloaking himself in the flag, righteousness, and religion.”

Jon Hamm played Sterling Cooper’s charismatic adman Don Draper for seven seasons of AMC’s Mad Men. One of the most iconic characters in TV history, Don Draper was the epitome of male beauty. However, AMC Network was initially hesitant to cast Hamm in the role as they found him not sexy enough for the role.

Jerry Seinfeld’s Unfrosted is as much about its cameos as it is about Kellogg’s iconic breakfast pastry. Who needs punchlines when you can create a litany of “Hey, that’s Comedian XYZ!” moments. Bill Burr, Mikey Day, Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett, Patrick Warburton, Cedric the Entertainer, Sebastian Maniscalco, Earthquake, Jack McBrayer — that’s hardly scratching the surface of the “blink or you’ll miss ‘em” moments provided by Seinfeld’s directorial debut.
You can catch several of the cameos in the movie’s trailer, but one in particular was kept a secret — the pitch from a couple of mad men at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. But Jon Hamm, a guy who is normally game for any comedy from Saturday Night Live to Between Two Ferns: The Movie, wasn’t sure bringing back Don Draper to pitch Pop-Tarts was a good idea. “I was of two minds,” Hamm told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Mad Men” star Jon Hamm no longer wants to be your leading man—or at least, that’s the title of a new Hollywood Reporter story on the actor and where he’s at with his career. While Hamm didn’t necessarily go away in the ensuing years after “Mad Men,” he apparently was offered a lot and was picky about it.
“People were chucking all kinds of stuff at him,” his close pal and “Mad Men” co-star John Slattery explained, “and I think that he’s played it smartly, career-wise, just finding the best parts he could as opposed to some of the choices where you go, ‘Oh, that’s a good paycheck.’ ”

In January of 2022, Jon Hamm starred in a commercial titled “Everyone But Jon Hamm.” The minute-long spot, for Apple TV+, played off the idea that everyone in the industry seemed to have a television show but him.
When the concept was first pitched, Hamm hesitated. “I was like, ‘There’s a version of this that could go terribly wrong — just thirsty and weird,’ ” he says. But he knew the director and trusted that he’d strike the right tone. So, they moved forward: Hamm, on the couch, scrolling through a carousel of familiar faces with projects on the platform. “Samuel L. Jackson, Billie Eilish, Tom Holland, Chris Evans. What about Jon Hamm?” he says, to the camera. “Jen and Reese, no Jon? Feels like a missed opportunity.”

Comedian and director Jerry Seinfeld, 70, shared his thoughts on evolved perceptions of masculinity.
Seinfeld, who just released his directorial debut film Unfrosted, which is set in the 1960s, expressed his fascination with the “agreed-upon hierarchy” that he believes has been “vaporized” in the present day. He suggested that this loss of a clear social structure has contributed to the erratic and chaotic behavior he observes in modern society, such as aggressive driving.
“I think that is why people lean on the horn and drive in the crazy way that they drive: because we have no sense of hierarchy,” Seinfeld said in a new interview on the Honestly with Bari Weiss podcast. “And as humans, we don’t really feel comfortable like that.”
“If you want to talk about nostalgia, that is part of what makes that moment attractive looking back,” Seinfeld remarked about the period of his childhood. He fondly described figures from that era,...

Sex and the City was all about the sexual exploits of Carrie Bradshaw and her pals. Those romances also helped Carrie make a living. She documented her dates and relationships in her weekly sex column. You would think the column would eventually create tension in her relationships. While it didn’t happen often, Carrie’s love life was impacted by her columns on a couple of occasions.

Law & Order Svu‘s Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler have been shipped together for years, now. Mariska Hargitay has been fielding questions about the two characters coming together almost since the show’s inception. But lately, she’s grown more fascinated with another kind of shipping.
Mariska Hargitay reveals the kind of ‘shipping’ she wants ‘Law & Order Svu’ fans to really focus on Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay | Eric Liebowitz/Getty Images
Hargitay and Meloni’s characters have been involved in a sort of ‘will they, won’t they’ sub-plot for decades. At one point, this pairing seemed unlikely. Meloni’s Stabler was married with kids, then Meloni would leave the show entirely. This allowed Hargitay’s Benson to explore other romantic interests in the show, which had been rarely touched on before.
Benson’s love interests seldom worked out, however, and the character is still single and married to her work in Svu.

As you might expect from its subject matter, Jerry Seinfeld's "Unfrosted," a film about the creation of the Pop-Tart, is an extremely silly comedy. It's also (very loosely) based on the real-world rivalry between Kellogg's and Post, and since the film chronicles the creation of a new product from a major company in the 1960s, the movie also contains a scene in which Don Draper and Roger Sterling from AMC's "Mad Men" drop by to pitch an advertising campaign for what would eventually be named the Pop-Tart. Yes, after dropping the mic in one of the most famous series finales of this century when "Mad Men" ended in 2015, actors Jon Hamm and John Slattery returned to reprise their most memorable roles in a goofy Netflix comedy.

For director, co-writer and star Jerry Seinfeld, “Unfrosted” was an opportunity to bring something a little less serious to the entertainment zeitgeist. A humorless life without the ability to make fun of ourselves, he postured, doesn’t make for “good living.”
“Don’t give up laughing and humor and comedy in your life. It’s the best way to get through life,” Seinfeld said. “We all want to not hurt each other’s feelings. But if we go too far, and nobody can make fun of anybody, that’s not good living.”
“Unfrosted” is a fictionalized account of the creation of the Kellogg’s staple Pop-Tarts. The plot takes a “space race” approach, with Post Cereal as the other heavyweight in the fight to be the first to craft the toasted pastry treat.
It costars a kaleidoscope of Hollywood funny people, including Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer, Jim Gaffigan, Hugh Grant,...

[This story includes spoilers for the Netflix movie Unfrosted.]
The buzz around Unfrosted is heating up, with Jerry Seinfeld’s heavily fictionalized Pop-Tart origin story now streaming on Netflix.
Seinfeld, who stars in the comedy movie that marks his feature directorial debut, also co-wrote the project’s screenplay. Contributing to the script was Spike Feresten, who worked with Seinfeld on the legendary NBC sitcom Seinfeld, with Feresten having penned one of the show’s most beloved and quotable episodes, “The Soup Nazi.”
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Feresten discussed some of the most memorable moments for the film that is set in 1963. This includes a plot point involving the Kellogg’s cereal mascots boycotting the company out of concern that the Pop-Tart will make them irrelevant, which leads to a sequence in which the mascots storm the company’s offices à la the attack on the U.S. Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021.

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains spoilers for “Unfrosted.”]
The Pop-Tarts were heated up and soon to pop — if Kellogg’s only had a name for its new toaster treat. For that, Jerry Seinfeld went to the best 1960s ad men he, or anyone, could find: Don Draper (Jon Hamm) and Roger Sterling (John Slattery) of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce — and of AMC’s “Mad Men.”
Who would have thought that Netflix’s “Unfrosted” — a Pop-Tarts faux origin story — would be what got those two back in their single-vented suits? A fantastical (and fantastic) cinematic universe was created, almost by accident. Here’s the not-fake origin story of the film-stealing scene.
“We would take breaks when we were writing this movie and watch ‘Mad Men’ scenes,” the film’s cowriter Spike Feresten told IndieWire. “Jerry had just rewatched the entire [series] again and said, ‘You’ve gotta see this scene.’ And it would play in our meetings like a comedy.
