The name’s Bond…James Bond. That iconic line cemented a cinematic franchise into the minds of a generation, as well as a man. That man was Sean Connery, who epitomized movie cool. A respected actor, Connery became an icon with his role in the James Bond franchise, turning 007 into a sex symbol, as well as a blockbuster character. Connery has now passed away at the age of 90, leaving the film world to mourn this loss. He hadn’t been active in the industry for quite some time, but the mark that he left on Hollywood, and beyond, is nothing short of indelible, to say the least. An Academy Award winner, he was more than just Bond, but playing the spy will forever define him, as well as be a cause for love from cinephiles the world over. Here’s a bit from the BBC obituary on his passing: Sir...

It's not just Hollywood studios and talent agencies that get roiled and restructured by mergers. The spin-meisters themselves, whose billings are under pressure and whose star clients' lives are under ever-increasing scrutiny, are undergoing their own shake-out.
As a result, two decidedly different strategies are emerging.
The latest amalgam is the melding of two of Interpublic's stand-alone public-relations powerhouses, Pmk and Bnc, which two months ago saw PR poobahs Michael Nyman and Chris Robichaud get bigger roles and several other high-profile players -- including the Hbh troika of Stephen Huvane, Robin Baum and Simon Halls -- pick up and leave. Also upped in the combo was Cindi Berger, who ascended to chairman and CEO, completing a double-decade rise from her original role as a Pmk receptionist.
The rationale for combining the firms? Given this is the PR world, that depends on whom you ask.

From the AP: San Francisco - A spokeswoman for Jaycee Dugard says only Dugard and her family should decide when and if a film is made based on the 18 years she spent with the man charged with kidnapping her. In a statement Tuesday, family spokeswoman Nancy Seltzer called a plan to make a movie about Dugard's life "exploitive, hurtful and breathtakingly unkind." The statement came after Shane Ryan -- the director of low-budget horror movies such as "Amateur Porn Star Killer" and "Romance Road Killers" -- announced that he expected to start production next month on "Abducted Girl, An American Sex Slave." Ryan told Sacramento television station Kcra that he wants to focus on the relationship between Dugard and Phillip Garido, the man charged with abducting, raping and holding her captive in his backyard. --- You voted on the top Jaycee actresses, before this...

To hear Whitney Houston tell it, she's got her very own evil stepmother. The songbird is countersuing Barbara Houston for $1.6 million, the star's rep, Nancy Seltzer, confirms to E! News. "[Whitney] Houston is using the legal remedies available to her," she says. Last December, the widow claimed the singer kept a $1 million insurance payout from her father's estate that was earmarked for the mortgage on his Fort Lee, N.J., condo, where the stepmom has lived for the past 20 years. She said the 45-year-old Grammy winner was supposed to fork over $723,000 for the mortgage, which is in Barbara's name, and give the change to Barbara directly. Veteran actor Sir Sean Connery has been cleared of allegations he made millions of dollars in profit from a loan deal struck with a late friend.
The former James Bond star was accused of loaning businessman Jean-René Canela $4 million (£2.8 million) and then selling off the assets provided as security on the loan for a huge profit, when Canela could not make the repayments.
The businessman died of cancer in 2002, but his son Christian began legal proceedings earlier this month - claiming Connery had sold off a portfolio of shares, property and gems worth $10 million (£7 million), which would now be worth $50 million (£35 million), giving the actor far more than his original investment.
Reports surfaced last week that Connery had been summoned to give evidence at a court in Switzerland as part of the case.
But judges in Geneva, Switzerland ruled on Tuesday that there was no case for Connery to answer.
The star's agent Nancy Seltzer says, "I am pleased to announce the Tribunal of First Instance of the Republique and Canton of Geneva has entirely found in favour of Sir Sean and Lady Connery and has declared the demand the petition of the son of Jean-René Canela totally inadmissible."...

When it comes to his favorite roles, does Gale Harold prefer Liberty Avenue or Wisteria Lane? Neither, he told AfterElton.com. It turns out he's more of a Christmas Town kind of guy.

Because AfterElton.com editor Michael Jensen made the mistake of letting our readers know we'd done the interview, he started getting a steady stream of emails from Gale's fans wondering if and when it would see the light of day. Black Hawk Down star Tom Sizemore is in even more trouble with the law - a former assistant is suing the actor for forcing her to hide his drugs and trying to have sex with him. The movie star, who still faces a 90-day jail spell for domestic violence against his ex-fiancée Heidi Fleiss, has been served with a new writ from a former employee. In her suit, Paulina Briones is accusing Sizemore of sexual harassment and unfair working practices after she took on a job as his personal assistant two years ago. Briones claims she repeatedly refused Sizemore's demands to have sex with him or with other people while he watched, and she was appalled when the actor reportedly dictated exactly how he desired his methamphetamine to be prepared. The former aide also alleges Sizemore threw her "a baggie containing a white powdery substance resembling methamphetamine and demanded that she hide it from police," when Los Angeles cops raided his home. Briones goes on to claim she was fired because she didn't comply with Sizemore's demands. The actor's publicist Nancy Seltzer insists the new allegations are false, and claims Briones was an employee for one month and was terminated for cause. Meanwhile, Sizemore has reportedly been tested "dirty" for methamphetamine, which would be a probation violation against the actor. Sizemore's lawyer insists his client is taking a drug prescribed by his doctor that may contain components that could cause a false positive result for methamphetamine.

Troubled R&B star Bobby Brown's reality TV show has already run into drama - his wife Whitney Houston picked up a speeding ticket as cameras were rolling. Film crews with Brown's company B2 Entertainment recently followed the troubled couple while dining out with their 11-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina. Houston's spokeswoman Nancy Seltzer says of the show, "It's Bobby's project, and he's her husband. Of course she would do it with him." The family - including their dog - was filmed dining on lobsters and steaks at Atlanta, Georgia's Palm Restaurant last Monday. The following evening, a five-member crew filmed Houston as she sang "Happy Birthday" to a fellow diner at Prime restaurant. Houston, who entered a drug rehabilitation centre last month, was accompanied by her counselors at the restaurants, according to Seltzer, who adds that the singer is in a "private facility" where treatment includes "approved outings" accompanied by counselors. But Houston quickly landed in trouble in front of rolling TV cameras when she picked up a speeding ticket while taking her daughter to school.
