- Although featured as Khan Noonien Singh's right-hand man, Joachim, in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), his name did not appear in the credits.
- Is one of only 32 actors or actresses to have starred with both the original Star Trek (1966) cast (up to and including Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991)) and that of one of the spin-offs.
- A champion surfer, he began surfing at age nine for Hobie surfboards. Also plays tennis, skis, lifts weights, makes pottery, writes, rides horseback, paints, plays concert piano and does stand-up comedy.
