Charlize Theron Says Uma Thurman Deserved an Oscar for Kill Bill
Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron is drawing renewed attention to Uma Thurman’s work in Kill Bill, calling it a performance that deserved recognition from the Academy. While promoting her upcoming Netflix action sequel The Old Guard 2 on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Theron credited Thurman as one of the reasons she pursued roles in action films, calling her an origin figure in the genre.

“We knew each other kind of offhand,” Theron said during the interview. “But I knew her from being a massive fan, just watching her work, and always wanted to do something with her. Because when I came into the action world, she was really, to me, like, the sensei. She was the Og.”

Thurman’s portrayal of The Bride in Quentin Tarantino’s two-part martial arts epic, released in 2003 and 2004, was cited by Theron as a career benchmark. Theron began her own pivot to action films shortly after, starting...

Charlize Theron Says Uma Thurman Should’ve Won an Oscar for ‘Kill Bill’: ‘Men Get a Lot of Credit for These Movies’ but ‘What She Did Was Unbelievable’
Image
Charlize Theron appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to jump start the press tour for “The Old Guard 2,” her upcoming Netflix action sequel. The tentpole finds Theron facing off against one of her action heroes: Uma Thurman.

“We knew each other kind of offhand, but I knew her from being a massive fan, just watching her work, and always wanted to do something with her,” Theron told Kimmel. “Because when I came into the action world, she was really, to me, like, the sensei. She was the Og.”

Theron is referring to Thurman’s iconic role of The Bride in Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill Vol. 1 ” and “Kill Bill Vol. 2.” Theron started pivoting to action movies with the 2005 release of “Æon Flux.” Films like “Hancock,” “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Atomic Blonde” followed, amon gothers. Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” movies were released in 2003 and 2004, turning Thurman into an...

Uma Thurman Battles Charlize Theron with a Sword in ‘Kill Bill’ Callback for ‘The Old Guard 2’ Trailer
Image
Charlize Theron is back in action at Netflix with the long-awaited graphic novel adaptation sequel “The Old Guard 2.” And this time? She’s joined by “Kill Bill” action star alum Uma Thurman.

“The Old Guard 2,” which will be released five years after the first film, has been in the throes of production delays at the streamer. Lead star Theron, who also produces the feature, told Variety in 2024 that it was due to the “changeover” at Netflix that in part led to the film’s post-production being shut down; the feature wrapped filming in 2022.

Now, “The Old Guard” is new again.

Victoria Mahoney directs from a script by Greg Rucka and Sarah L. Walker. The film is based on the 2017 graphic novel from Rucka, which is illustrated by Leandro Fernandez. Gina Prince-Bythewood previously helmed the first installment that became a hit on the platform.

“The Old Guard 2” brings...

Action fans will love Old Guard 2 and Netflix just dropped the trailer
Image
You want action, Netflix subscribers? You got it. At least, that is what the new trailer for Old Guard 2 implies. We get a lot of Charlize Theron's Andy shooting guns, making her karate moves, and looking pretty impressive.

The good part is that the trailer doesn't have Andy as the only intimidating female actor. Uma Thurman, who plays antagonist Discord, is featured quite a bit in the trailer and is Kill Bill-era awesome.

If you like bad guys and gals, that is. What is certain is that Andy will not have an easy time facing off against Discord. The trailer tells us that Thurman's character knows everything she needs to know about her adversaries, so she has the advantage. Andy and her immortal warrior pals must plan some sneak attack.

Just released trailer for Old Guard 2 looks amazing

Oddly, what the synopsis attached the trailer (which you...

Charlize Theron in The Old Guard 2 (2025)
The Old Guard 2: More Immortal Angst After All This Time
Charlize Theron in The Old Guard 2 (2025)
The Old Guard 2: Finally Creeping Onto Netflix After a Seemingly Eternal Wait The Old Guard 2 is finally happening—after what feels like a gap long enough to classify as an archaeological period. Nearly five years after the first film, the immortal crew is dusting themselves off for another round of ageless chaos, debuting July 2, 2025, on Netflix. Set your reminders—ideally somewhere you won’t forget, like next to your slowly aging hope. The original cast returns, likely powered by a combination of ancient oaths and studio contracts. Charlize Theron is back as Andromache “Andy” of Scythia, a 6,732-year-old with a sword, a scowl, and an ever-diminishing tolerance for humanity’s nonsense. Her immortality is once again put to work saving the world—mostly because she hasn’t found a decent retirement plan. Andy’s been fighting evil for so long, she probably has loyalty points with several ancient empires.

The Old Guard 2 trailer pits Charlize Theron against Uma Thurman in high-octane fight to the death
Image
The Old Guard was a hit movie for Netflix when it premiered back in 2020, and is one of the few original films on the streamer that has the staying power to keep people excited years later. Charlize Theron played Andromache of Scythia — Andy, for short — the head of an elite group of immortals known as the Old Guard who defend humanity from the shadows. The movie had a good story, a solid cast, and the blow-out action scenes to leave viewers breathless.

We'll soon be back with Theron and company, because Netflix has just unveiled the first trailer for The Old Guard 2. And if you thought the bad guys were dangerous in the first film, they're nothing compared to what's ahead: none other than Kill Bill star Uma Thurman, who plays the original immortal Discord. She's fed up with the Old Guard's antics and their abandonment of other immortals in service of humanity,...

After Netflix released a batch of preview images from the Charlize Theron action sequel The Old Guard 2 a couple of weeks ago, the streamer now unveils the new trailer and one-sheet for the upcoming film. Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow Will Reportedly Introduce The Sklarian Raiders
Image
Cameras have been rolling on DC Studios' Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow for a while at this stage (several actors have already wrapped their scenes), but we now have word on a late addition to the cast.

Nexus Point News is reporting that The Brothers Son and Sex Education star Alice Hewkin has a supporting role in the movie, and she will play one of the Sklarian Raiders.

This group of all-female space pirates from the planet Sklar first appeared in Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heros back in the late '70s, and have since faced off against numerous cosmic DC Comics heroes. They are ruthless thieves, but have also been depicted as having a moral code.

The Sklarians do not feature in Tom King's Woman of Tomorrow comic run, so it should be interesting to see how they're utilized in the movie. There is already speculation that they...

The Old Guard 2 Trailer: Netflix's Sequel Pays Off The Original's Most Horrifying Moment
Image
When "The Old Guard" dropped on Netflix in the summer of 2020, it was a surprising little treat for action fans who like their stories a bit more supernatural. It wasn't a perfect movie by any means, and some reviewers (/FIlm's included) were frustrated because they wanted something more from a big action flick starring Charlize Theron. Still, "The Old Guard" is honestly a darn good movie that ticks all the right boxes for a popcorn-chomping afternoon at home.

Adapted from the comic book series of the same name by Greg Rucka, "The Old Guard" stars Theron as Andy, a nearly-immortal and ageless woman with mysterious healing powers who, alongside other individuals possessing the same abilities, takes on mercenary work to help the little guy. It's a superhero story with some very complicated heroes, but it did well enough for Netflix to green-light a sequel shortly after the film's release, getting...

James Gunn Should Be Worried for Dcu After Donald Trump and His 100% Tariff Increase on Movies
Image
James Gunn’s Dcu is going to face major trouble after Donald Trump announced a 100% tariff for movies produced outside of the United States. Trump’s tariff is intended to save the movie industry in America. But movie studios won’t be happy with the new announcement, as some of the major productions are currently operating outside of the U.S.

While Gunn’s Superman production primarily took place at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, the Dcu is planning to move to the U.K. for its upcoming films. For instance, the next film in the Dcu roster, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, is currently in production at the Warner Bros. Studio Leavesden in Hertfordshire.

'Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot & 'Supergirl' Star to Lead WWII Thriller 'Ruin'
Image
Turn back the calendar to December 2017. Matthew "Kaz" Firpo and Ryan Firpo's script Ruin was awarded the No. 1 spot on The Black List, which is Hollywood’s annual tribute to the year’s collection of top screenplays which have not yet been produced. At that time, over seven years ago, the Dceu’s Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, was already in talks to star in the historical drama. Today, it’s been confirmed that Gadot will indeed team up with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’s Matthias Schoenaerts in the story written by Kaz and Ryan Firpo, both of whom penned the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s lackluster Eternals (2021).

Justin Kurzel was originally slated to direct the World War II flick, but the film is now being helmed by Niki Caro. Gadot also serves as a producer on the project via Pilot Wave Motion Pictures, while Caro will be tasked with producing...

Gal Gadot Is Ditching the Tiara for Trauma in ‘Ruin,’ After ‘Snow White’ Downfall
Image
Mark your watchlists, a new Gal Gadot movie is in the works. We’re still reeling from all the controversy surrounding that subpar Snow White remake. Regardless, the actor who became a household name with Wonder Woman has no time for such trivialities in life. She has been busy lately. And from the looks of things, it’s for all the right reasons.

Soon, everyone will forget about Snow White’s politically charged backlash that (quite distastefully) managed to drag even the Israel-Palestine conflict into its midst. That’s just how Hollywood’s ruthless engine has functioned for a long time. Nevertheless, Gadot’s new movie is bound to give many talking heads something new to talk about. After all, she’s stepping into the shoes of a “newly released camp prisoner” in post-wwii Germany.

Ruin | Gal Gadot and Matthias Schoenaerts sign up for unsparing WWII thriller
Gal Gadot
Gal Gadot and Matthias Schoenaerts are to star in Ruin, a stark thriller set in the aftermath of the Second World War.

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot uniting with the director of Disney’s live-action Mulan, working from a script by the writers of Marvel’s Eternals. It might sound as though we’re in for something glossy and multiplex ready, but the forthcoming Ruin will almost certainly be the complete opposite.

Written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo and first appearing on the 2017 Blacklist of unproduced screenplays, Ruin is set in the aftermath of Word War II. Germany, like large sections of Europe, lies in tatters. Against a backdrop of shattered buildings, hunger and unrest, a former Nazi soldier embarks on a mission to wipe out his own SS death squad team. He’s joined by an unlikely ally: a Jewish concentration camp survivor named Elsa.

According to Deadline, Ruin...

Supergirl: The Woman Of Tomorrow Shows Off Her Fighting Skills Against Three Armored Villains In New Set Video
Image
More footage from the set of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has found its way online today, this time showcasing the Maiden of Might doing battle with three armoured baddies.

Based on previous photos and videos, this seems to be part of an outer space battle with Supergirl attacking a tank, fighting its inhabitants as it blasts through the cosmos, and then taking flight while tackling one of her foes.

We don't know who they are, though we wouldn't be shocked if they're somehow linked to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow's big bad, Krem of the Yellow Hills. Whatever the case may be, the hero has some badass fighting skills.

Superman is expected to introduce the Dcu's Supergirl, and if DC Studios follows the comic this movie shares a name with, we can expect Kara Zor-El to be a little rougher around the edges than previous live-action adaptations. It's previously been...

New ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ Set Video Reveals a Key Plot Detail About the Milly Alcock-Led Movie
Image
One of the highly anticipated DC Studios pics is still a ways away from its arrival date, set for the summer of 2026, and fans are eagerly counting down till then. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is expected to hit U.S. theaters on June 26 of next year as the second film in the DC Universe. It stars Milly Alcock as the title character, who fans got a glimpse of in a previously shared set image. While few details are known about the upcoming movie, ComicBook has confirmed newly released footage from the set, which hints at a major idea about its direction.

As seen in the video from UnBoxPHD, construction of what looks like a classic American town is ongoing for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow amid filming. This is standard in blockbuster production, but certainly raises questions for the DC film given its source material, Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s...
