We didn't expect to see Dafne Keen as X-23 again following her acclaimed turn in James Mangold's Logan, but the young actress was given the opportunity to reprise the role in Shawn Levy's Deadpool and Wolverine as part of a Void Resistance team alongside Blade (Wesley Snipes), Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Gambit (Channing Tatum), and the late Johnny Storm (Chris Evans).
Laura appears again in the closing moments of the movie, having reunited with Logan and the Merc With a Mouth, leaving the door open for her eventual return.
Hugh Jackman is expected to play Wolverine at least one more time before we see a new team of mutants makes their debut in Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot, and it looks like his daughter/clone will be joining him.
According to Mttsh, Keen is set to return to the MCU. Avengers: Doomsday is possible, but if not, she will likely suit-up for Secret Wars.

Kate Mara didn’t know exactly what she was getting into with Tim Robinson before joining the cast of “Friendship.” She wasn’t familiar with “I Think You Should Leave,” the absurdist Netflix sketch comedy created by Robinson and Zach Kanin – and “Friendship” very much plays like a 97-minute version of the series.
Thankfully, the screenplay by writer-director Andrew DeYoung painted a clear picture for Mara. “It was all on the page,” the “House of Cards” alum tells Variety. “It was such a great script, so funny. My reaction was, ‘Wow. Why did he think of me?’”
It’s a fair question. Mara, known largely for her work in drama series like “House of Cards” and “A Teacher,” hasn’t gotten to flex her comedy chops as much. In “Friendship,” she plays Tami, the wife to Robinson’s lonely marketing executive, Craig. Tami isn’t outwardly funny at first, serving largely as a straight-man,...

Earlier this week, we got a first look at what appeared to be a downed Sentinel on the set of Avengers: Doomsday. Now, we have a birds-eye view offering a clearer shot at the mutant-hunting robot's legs (in what's believed to be the X-Mansion's grounds).
We also have reason to believe that we'll see the remains of more than one Sentinel, as you can see below.
Unfortunately, the legs are still covered up, but the photographer who took these shots has confirmed that the footprints they've seen elsewhere on set match the Sentinel design from the comics.
Sentinels attacking the X-Men's home is par for the course in the comics, so this could be part of a major battle we'll see in the movie or the fallout from a previous battle. We also wouldn't discount the possibility of this being a Danger Room training exercise meant to show us what...

The new Apple TV+ sci-fi series "Murderbot" stars Alexander Skarsgård as the titular cyborg, who's able to hack his system and go rogue. Unfortunately, free will does little for a mildly outdated security construct whose only desires in life are to watch bad TV and be left in peace — especially since the self-appointed Murderbot understands all too well that no one can ever find out that it has free will in the first place.
Peace, of course, is not on the cards when you're the titular character on what may turn out to be one of the best sci-fi shows on Apple TV+. Murderbot soon becomes the chosen SecUnit of a scientist expedition that's heading toward a mystery planet, which contains more than its share of dangers. It doesn't help Murderbot that it doesn't fully comprehend or appreciate humanity ... and even less helpful is the fact that the group soon discovers its sentience,...

I’ve been writing a lot lately about my lengthy Zoom with The Naked Gun! and Airplane! creator David Zucker. Our interview was ostensibly set up to discuss his upcoming web series MasterCrash, a more-sincere-than-usual sendup of MasterClass, and to provide space for him to gripe about being left out of Seth MacFarlane and Akiva Schaffer’s new Naked Gun movie — a classic win-win media & PR collab! The residual impact has been how much I’ve since thought about parody, and how not everybody knows how to do it right.
Time will tell if MacFarlane and Schaffer’s take starring Liam Neeson as the new Lt. Frank Drebin, son of the old one (Leslie Nielsen), strikes the right tone. Considering the IP and talent attached — and even factoring in the talent not attached — Naked Gun (August 1, 2025) has a shot. The big Baltimore Ravens short film released this week, on the other hand,...

Chicago – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Josh Westcott for Wbgr-fm on May 15th, 2025, reviewing the new film “Friendship,” a sly and subtle buddy satire featuring Paul Rudd. In theaters on May 16th.
The film features Rudd as Austin, a new local TV weatherman in a wintry town, who moves into the same neighborhood as Craig (Tim Robinson). They strike up an awkward friendship, as Craig is dealing with his wife Tami (Kate Mara) and son Steven (Jack Dylan Grazer). Everything goes well initially, until Craig goes too far off the rails at a boys night gathering in Austin’s garage, and the weatherman wants nothing to do with him from then on. As Craig obsesses with his lost friendship, and spirals out of control, can anything bring him back from the brink?

Writer/director Andrew DeYoung’s dark comedy Friendship explores what happens when a budding bromance suddenly and disastrously comes to an end. Unfortunately, the film’s central bromance involves an incredibly unlikable character.
Craig Waterman has a decent life. Craig has a lovely wife, Tami, who has been cancer-free for a year now, a teenage son, Steven, and a job in technology that makes apps habit-forming. Yes, life is good.
When the mailman accidentally leaves a package for Craig’s new neighbor, Austin Carmichael, on his doorstep, Craig delivers it. This is the beginning of the end of Craig’s melancholy life. Austin befriends Craig unrealistically quickly, inviting him to have a beer the next night and calling him at work to leave early and go play hooky. Craig becomes enamored with Austin and develops a man crush on his neighbor,...

As filming continues on Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday, these latest photos and video from what is believed to be the X-Mansion set reveal what looks a lot like a downed Sentinel.
Though the head isn't visible, what appears to be a large mauve chest plate and foot sticking out of the tarp would seem to leave little doubt that this is indeed one of the giant robots that have been a scourge of mutant-kind in the comics since they were introduced back in the mid-60s.
The Sentinels were a staple of the original X-Men animated series, and have also made a couple of live-action appearances - although Days of Future Past's take on the robots left a lot to be desired among fans that were hoping to see the classic design.
Rumor has it that scenes featuring members of the X-Men facing off against the Avengers are currently being shot,...

Plot: A suburban dad (Tim Robinson) becomes hellbent on being BFFs with his charismatic new neighbour (Paul Rudd).
Review: Confession time – this movie is my introduction to Tim Robinson. Sure, I’ve had folks name-drop his show I Think You Should Leave, and it’s always been on my list of stuff to check out. But, I walked into this more-or-less fresh, not knowing what to expect. What I got was one of the most cringe-inducing comedies I’ve ever seen – and I loved every second of it.
To be sure, this kind of humour isn’t for everyone. There were times while I was watching Friendship in the jam-packed screening that I’m sure I annoyed the people sitting next to me by how many times I sunk in my seat, covering my face with my hands and repeating “no, no, no” louder than I should. That’s the effect this had on me.

Frasier star Kelsey Grammer made his debut as Beast in X-Men 3, aka X-Men: The Last Stand, before returning to provide the voice and motion capture for a fully CGI version of the character in The Marvels many years later.
In The Marvels' stinger, Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) wakes up in a medical lab after getting trapped in an alternate reality following her battle with Dar-Benn to find her late mother, Maria (Lashana Lynch), by her side. Rambeau is overcome with joy, but Maria - who is actually this world's Binary - has no idea who she is.
As Monica's confusion grows, a familiar voice asks "how's our patient," and a comic-accurate, blue-furred Hank McCoy enters the room.
There were rumors that Grammer was set to return as the fan-favorite X-Man in Avengers: Doomsday, which were confirmed during Marvel Studios' recent cast announcement. While appearing as a guest on The Jamie Kern Lima Show,...

Sony Pictures Entertainment saw profit jump 70% in the March quarter to $354 million on lower theatrical marketing costs. Revenue for the three months, Sony’s fiscal fourth quarter, was essentially flat at $2.7 billion.
Paddington in Peru was a hit in Q1, a notably quiet one for Hollywood. Other releases included One Of Them Days, Walter Salles’ much decorated I’m Still Here and Becoming Led Zeppelin from Sony Pictures Classics and Heart Eyes from Screen Gems. The year earlier quarter featured The Book Of Clarence, Madame Web and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire in late March, which was an expensive movie to market.

Cameras are now rolling on Avengers: Doomsday, and star Robert Downey Jr. has taken to social media to share a new photo from the set.
The Oppenheimer Oscar-winner is clearly not in full costume as Victor Von Doom here, but he does appear to be wearing at least part of his undersuit as he sits reading co-star Jeremey Renner's new book. Rdj is also flexing his bicep, and it looks like he's bulked up somewhat to play the iconic villain... With some help from extra padding!
If you look closely, you'll also notice some red dots on Downey's head and face, which may confirm that VFX will be used for either Doom's mask or possibly his disfigured face.

I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson has presented its titular creator and star to us in some of the most humiliating situations ever conceived. Characters he’s played have asked a restaurant server to intervene with a date he thinks is being too greedy with the toppings on a shared plate of nachos, tried to pull off a perm like an Irish setter’s ears, gotten disruptively dirty with questions on an “adult” ghost tour and of course, driven a hot dog-shaped car through a store window and loudly disclaimed responsibility — while wearing a hot dog costume.

Academy Award winner and Hollywood icon Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday. But he won’t be playing Tony Stark. Instead, Downey Jr. will debut as the iconic Marvel supervillain Doctor Doom, with the actor having now teased his MCU comeback in a new image from the set of the Avengers sequel.

The Avengers: Doomsday display isn't very revealing (it'll be another while before we see any official promo material), but we do get another look at the movie's updated logo, as well as some banners and standees for Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
We've heard from several actors who are set to make their MCU returns for the next big Marvel Studios event, they all say pretty much the same thing: They still haven't read a script.
While speaking to Rob Lowe on his podcast, Kelsey Grammer said he is "excited" to play Beast again in Doomsday, though he remains in the...

There are many, many reasons that Avengers: Doomsday is the most anticipated movie of 2026. It's a large-scale movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a start, and one that will kick off the final chapter in the Multiverse Saga (paving the way for Avengers: Secret Wars to wrap it up). It will also feature a multitude of cameo appearances from across the Marvel multiverse and see some of our favorite characters go up against MCU legend Robert Downey Jr. as he brings Doctor Doom to life.
But another primary reason for the excitement is the fact that it will bring the Avengers back together. It's been years since the most famous team of superheroes have assembled on-screen, and the possibility of seeing some newer Marvel heroes join the fray just makes it all the more exciting, making up the fact that some of the originals won't be on the team this time around.

Many stars come to mind when you hear the phrase, ‘aging like a fine wine’. The likes of George Clooney, Paul Rudd, Keanu Reeves, and Jeff Goldblum are the first to cross our minds. But some simply don’t age. Tom Cruise falls in that category.
Don’t let the fact that he’s over 62 years old fool you into thinking that Cruise is going to give himself a rest. As the final entry of the Mission: Impossible franchise comes ‘reckoning’, Cruise has yet again reminded fans of the old adage, ‘age is just a number’.

While Marvel's Thunderbolts* dominated headlines this weekend after topping the domestic box office charts for the second time in a row, an indie comedy was setting its own records. Released in just six New York and Los Angeles theaters, Friendship delivered the biggest debut for a limited release this year. The movie grossed over $451,000 in its first three days of release, delivering a per-theater average of $75,000. By comparison, Thunderbolts*' per-theater average for the weekend stood at $7,600.
Friendship stars Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson in the lead roles; the movie premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival to excellent reviews, and is poised to emerge as a crowd-pleaser of the topmost order when it expands nationwide in a few weeks. Robinson plays a suburban dad whose quest to make a new adult friend leads him to his charismatic neighbor, played by Rudd. Their blossoming friendship threatens to derail their lives.

Friendship is out at 6 locations to a stellar debut weekend of $451k, and per theater average of $75.43k. That’s the highest limited opening this year and a boost the indie market’s been waiting for even as the broader box office picks up.
Only Watermelon Pictures’ documentary The Encampments, which debuted on one screen in late March to $77k, had a higher per theater opening of $77k.
R-rated comedy Friendship stars Tim Robinson as suburban dad Craig, whose life is turned upside down by the arrival of a new neighbor (Paul Rudd). As Craig’s attempts to make an adult male friend, things spiral out of control, and their blossoming relationship threatens to ruin both of their lives. Box Office Round-Up: 'Thunderbolts*' Wins Second Weekend, 'Sinners' Holds Strong, 'Snow White' Tanks

Thunderbolts* cruised to the top of the box office once again as the second weekend of the summer movie season didn't offer any meaningful competition for the MCU entry to face off against. Director Jake Schreier’s superhero flick made an estimated $33.1 million domestically to claim the No. 1 spot, and the recently rebranded *New Avengers also crossed the $100 million mark ($128.5 million) in the United States and Canada. The Florence Pugh-led ensemble piece has fared even better overseas with an additional $143.7 million en route to a worldwide total of $272.2 million after only two weekends of theatrical release. Regrettably, though, Disney couldn't let sleeping dogs lie, as the studio also tried to cash in on the summer movie season by unsuccessfully rereleasing their live-action Snow White — more on that catastrophe in a moment.
Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler’s must-see vampire collaboration, Sinners, continues to scare up audiences during its fourth weekend of release.

The weekend box office results are in, and Marvel’s Thunderbolts managed an easy first-place win with $33 million. That’s pretty close to what we predicted earlier this week. That marks a 55% decline from its opening weekend, which is much better than the usual Marvel results, with Captain America: Brave New World and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania both falling about 69%, while The Marvels fell a disastrous 78%. The running total now is $128 million. That said, this is a modest result for a Marvel movie, with it unlikely to hit the $200 million mark.
It’s not hard to imagine that Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which has become a bona fide cultural phenomenon, took a big bite out of Thunderbolts’ box office takings. In its fourth week, Sinners made $21 million, for an incredible $214 million total. Next week, it’s getting back its 70mm IMAX screens, which it had to surrender to Thunderbolts,...

Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* lorded over a relatively quiet weekend at the domestic box office, earning $33.1 million for a 10-day North American tally of $128.5 million and $272.2 million globally.
The ensemble pic led by Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan fell a respectable 55 percent from its opening weekend, compared to an average decline of 57 percent for a title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and far less than more recent MCU films. Earlier this year, Captain America: Brave New World tumbled more than 65 percent.
Thunderbolts* boasts both enviable reviews and audience scores, which is sparking strong word-of-mouth. And in a savvy stunt to whip up additional interest, Disney’s marketers revealed after the movie opened that the asterisk refers to the unofficial title The New Avengers, since many of the characters will appear in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday.

The last time we saw the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Since then, the character has been noticeably absent from the big screen. While it’s clear that a solo Hulk project isn’t on the horizon, rumors have been swirling about Bruce Banner’s potential appearance in Captain America: Brave New World.
These speculations gained traction after Mark Ruffalo himself hinted at being involved with the movie before quickly backtracking, claiming he was mistaken.
Marvel Studios recently revealed a list of cast members set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Some names, like Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, were anticipated, given the Fantastic Four’s history with Doctor Doom.
Related: Kit Connor Reveals Whether He Is Playing the Hulkling in the MCU
However, other announcements came as a surprise, such as almost the entire Thunderbolts* cast (excluding Taskmaster) joining the film.

Limited opening per screen averages remain challenged even as the studio wide release landscape surges, but there’s a promising new entrant this week in Friendship, the A24 comedy opening on six screens.

Early screenings in New York and L.A. have sold out, along with thousands of hats reading ‘Male Friendship’, the latest merch to hit the distributor’s shopping vertical and sell out. The former SNL performer and writer’s cringey cult hit has had three seasons on Netflix.

Thunderbolts* is on track to continue its success at the box office this weekend. Unfortunately, as one Marvel Cinematic Universe movie achieves new heights, another is destined to keep hold of an embarrassing box office record.
Per The Numbers, Thunderbolts* will soon cross the $100 million domestic benchmark, if not today, then this weekend. When that happens, The Marvels will once again be the only MCU title not to break $100M at the U.S. box office, as the Captain Marvel sequel fizzled out with just $84.5M. At the time of writing, Thunderbolts* has grossed $91 million domestically and is on track for a sophomore frame of around $30 million, meaning that the MCU movie will top the box office for two weekends in a row.
Despite being a sequel to a billion-dollar hit, The Marvels had a disappointing run at the worldwide box office, grossing just $205.8 million globally, making it the lowest-earning MCU title ever.

With Tim Robinson's hilarious sketch series "I Think You Should Leave" having cemented the former "Saturday Night Live" and "Detroiters" star's status as a full comedy legend and "Friendship" pairing him with Paul Rudd to further establish his talent, the comedian seems nothing short of undeniable. Still, despite friends of funny business everywhere chuckling to themselves whenever they remember "Brian's Hat," Robinson's professional life might not be entirely composed of well-deserved victories after all.
One of Robinson's less-known but still perfectly hilarious works is the Adult Swim cartoon "Teenage Euthanasia," which premiered in 2021 and got its sophomore season in 2023. However, fans of the show who have been waiting for news of season 3 will be disappointed to hear that the show seems to have died with barely a whimper.

Are the guys Ok? So rarely do we get smart, subversive screen comedies about male friendship these days, and writer/director Andrew DeYoung’s feature directing debut “Friendship” turns the genre inside out.
Casting Paul Rudd as forlorn weatherman Austin Carmichael, neighbor to Tim Robinson’s anxiously neurotic Craig Waterman, in his A24 movie will immediately bring to mind another male friendship comedy, “I Love You, Man.” “Friendship” is like the dark mirror of John Hamburg’s 2009 cult classic, as the desperately friendless Craig strikes up (or even forces) a bond with the charismatic man across the street who keeps getting his packages. It proves ruinous for all, including Craig’s wife Tami (played by Kate Mara), who is obsessed with an ex and oh-so eager to get Craig out of the house.

Friendship, an upcoming A24 comedy starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd, is now regarded as one of the best films of the year thus far. As exciting as it was to see Marvel Studios reveal the cast of Avengers: Doomsday at the end of March, even more intriguing for fans was who didn't get a mention.

One of Paul Rudd's most memorable movie roles nearly didn't happen. On the latest episode of Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the actor recalled his audition for Amy Heckerling's Clueless, where he was asked to read for the part of Josh Lucas, and how a spontaneous decision could have cost him his big break. After the audition, Rudd dramatically changed his appearance by chopping his long locks down to a buzz cut, which came as a shock to the director, who was considering offering him the role before seeing the haircut. Ugh! As if!
"I wasn't thinking about it, [and] I was walking past a barbershop and I went in and said, 'Just buzz my head,'" Rudd revealed. "A week later, I went into a restaurant and Amy Heckerling, who directed the movie, was eating there. She looked at me and froze, and she goes, 'What did you do?...

There's a high chance you've watched more shows cast by Tiffany Little Canfield in the past year than anyone else. The six-time Emmy nominee is the casting director on Only Murders in the Building, Paradise, and Doctor Odyssey, among others.
Little Canfield has been with Only Murders since the beginning, which means she's been there for every season finale murder that sets up the following season's mystery. "Usually, like way before we really, really start with the concept of it, that is a conversation that we start brainstorming ideas," she tells Gold Derby at our Meet the Experts: Casting Directors panel. "I'll get a call like, 'Ok, we're doing like this. I think it was literally like, 'We need to do the famous actor, like who's gonna play our three in the movie version?' Little Canfield has been with Only Murders since the beginning, which means she's been there for every season finale murder that sets up the following season's mystery. "Usually, like way before we really, really start with the concept of it, that is a conversation that we start brainstorming ideas," she tells Gold Derby at our Meet the Experts: Casting Directors panel. Could Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler and Pedro Pascal‘s Mister Fantastic be having a showdown in Avengers: Doomsday?
While details surrounding the Phase Six installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are being kept under wraps, that didn’t stop The Traitors host from seemingly accidentally teasing some potential action in the upcoming film.
“I was learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene and I just think, I’m 60 years old. Twenty-three years ago, I played that superhero,” Cumming said in a video interview with Buzzfeed UK. “I was kind of old for a superhero even then. And now I’m back doing it. And that, to me, is hilarious.”
He continued, “I’m sort of learning these fights and I’m like, ‘What? Who am I fighting with?’ And they said, ‘You’re hitting Pedro Pascal against the head,’ or something.”

Remember Ultron? The AI Frankenstein's monster birthed by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) was the frighteningly powerful nemesis of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's second Avengers movie, but once his primary body was eliminated by Vision (in a surprisingly moving scene), he ceased to be a factor in the superhero franchise. 10 years after the release of "Avengers: Age of Ultron," the character has been completely Mia in the movies and TV spinoffs. Yes, he's due to return in next year's Disney+ series "Vision Quest," but that's an awfully long time to put a fascinating, once-titular villain on ice.
Though it's not officially canon, Ultron has actually been a tangential part of the studio's muddled Multiverse saga for nearly three years now. And if you've spent a few days aboard the Disney Wish cruise ship, you've almost certainly gotten reacquainted with the AI baddie via the dinner theater-esque "Avengers: Quantum Encounter.

Alan Cumming’s return to Marvel’s cinematic lineup has already created a stir, but it’s an offhand comment during a recent interview that may have ignited a new round of speculation about Avengers: Doomsday. During a promotional conversation with BuzzFeed UK, the actor, known for portraying Nightcrawler in 2003’s X2: X-Men United, shared an anecdote that has led many to believe a key scene in the upcoming film may involve a direct clash with Pedro Pascal’s Mister Fantastic.
Marvel Studios has remained characteristically silent on the storyline of Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to release on May 1, 2026. However, Cumming’s remark—delivered with a casual tone—implied that his character might be involved in an action sequence with Pascal’s Reed Richards. “I was learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene and I just think, I’m 60 years old. 23 years ago, I played that superhero,” Cumming said.

As Alan Cumming makes his long-overdue return to the X-Men, it appears he’s avoided the notoriously scary MCU media training.
The 3x Emmy winner might have recently let a detail slip about the upcoming Phase Six installment Avengers: Doomsday, which premieres May 1, 2026 in theaters, involving his reprised role Nightcrawler and Pedro Pascal‘s Mister Fantastic.
“I was learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene and I just think, I’m 60 years old. 23 years ago, I played that superhero,” he told Buzzfeed UK. “I was kind of old for a superhero even then. And now I’m back doing it. And that, to me, is hilarious.”
Cumming continued, “I’m sort of learning these fights and I’m like, ‘What? Who am I fighting with?’ And they said, ‘You’re hitting Pedro Pascal against the head,’ or something.”
Perhaps the Scottish actor was just speaking hypothetically. But with Nightcrawler’s...

Jon Hamm and John Slattery will work together again on David Wain and Ken Marino’s new R-rated comedy that currently remains untitled, but I bet they have someone on the team who can come up with something marketable.
Early on in their careers, Wain and Marino had a habit of turning relatively-to-completely unknown actors into massive stars through projects like their cult-hit comedy Wet Hot American Summer. Between Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler alone, the veterans of the massively influential sketch comedy group The State are some of the most important kingmakers in the history of comedy, TV and film, and their breakthrough hit parody of 1980s teen sex comedies spawned both a prequel and a sequel series on Netflix that attracted big-name talent.
For Wain and Marino’s next project, they’re returning to the R-rated sex comedy format, only, instead of turning their actors into Emmy-worthy A-listers,...
