Ben Stiller and Colin Farrell will appear in Andrew Haigh's upcoming film Belly of the Beast, an adaptation of Jerome Lovings book Jack and Norman, which details the tumultuous relationship between literary giant Norman Mailer and criminal Jack Henry Abbott, Deadline reports. Stiller will portray Mailer, while Farrell will play Abbott. The film was co-written by Alexis Jolly and is being produced and developed by Village Roadshow Pictures (Vrp).
Haigh most recently helmed the critically acclaimed All of Us Strangers, a quasi-supernatural tale of love and healing from past traumas. Starring Andrew Scott, Paul Mescal, and Claire Foy, Haigh adapted the script from a novel by Taichi Yamada. All of Us Strangers premiered at the 50th annual Telluride Film Festival and went on to receive numerous BAFTA nominations, including nods for Haigh's direction and screenwriting, Mescal and Foy's acting, as well as outstanding film of the year.

Horror movies have been around for a long time, and in recent decades, horror movie remakes have become very common. Remakes of horror hits from the 1970s, 1980s and beyond have consistently slashed their way into theaters, with varying degrees of success. Thankfully, there's one underrated classic that's been untouched despite plans to the contrary.
Angel Heart was an incredibly underrated and equally contentious movie from the '80s, combining psychological horror thrills and urban fantasy with noir and mystery. It was very much a product of its time, which is likely why plans to remake it have stalled for over a decade. The film is by no means a traditional horror movie and losing said uniqueness in a remake would be a massive mistake.

Jacob's Ladder is getting a remake this month, and early word of mouth from horror fans is that this is a twisty turn on the original 1990 classic starring Tim Robbins. This time out, Michael Ealy stars as Jacob Singer. As we learn in the first clip released by Vertical Entertainment, Jacob's believed to be deceased brother is still alive and living in the Subway tunnels under the city. The government has been experimenting on soldiers with a new drug, and it's not exactly going as planned.
As you can see from the first Jacob's Ladder clip, strange things are afoot, as Singer is warned of an experimental drug before facing a surprising death by way of subway train. It's pretty shocking and surreal, leaving the audience to ask, 'What is real and what is a hallucination?'

George R.R. Martin has a pretty hot brand right now. Game of Thrones has been absolutely killing it on HBO ever since its premiere back in 2011, and while one could chalk that up to the copious amounts of sex and violence, there’s no doubt that the series has its foundation in amazing characters and storytelling. Given the success of this series, as well as Martin’s experience in television as a writer and series executive producer, it was only a matter of time before some of his other properties got the small screen treatment.
TheWrap is reporting that Syfy is developing a supernatural thriller based on Martin’s novel Nightflyers (Which was adapted into a film back in 1987). In case you have no idea what the book is (which I’ll assume is most of you), the outlet describes it as follows:

The network is also developing an adaptation of the George R.R. Martin novella “Nightflyers,” and, as previously announced, has partnered with Blumhouse Television to develop a new TV chapter of the feature franchise “The Purge” (which will also air on USA Network).
To emphasize the changes, the network unveiled a new logo and look across its platforms. The name hasn’t changed (although that was discussed — including a return to the original Sci-Fi moniker), but now it’s in all-caps: Syfy.

The new Jacob's Ladder will be a "modern-day paranoid action thriller about two brothers"
As you may know, a Jacob's Ladder remake is in the works. Ld Entertainment says that Jacob’s Ladder will be an homage to the classic 1990 supernatural thriller rather than a remake, meaning it will take place in the present and deal with contemporary issues.
Jacob’s Ladder will be directed by David M Rosenthal. The screenplay was written by Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train) and Sarah Thorp.
It's now being reported that Karla Souza, a regular on the Us TV show How to Get Away With Murder, will play Annie/Angel, a trauma nurse who works with Jacob’s medical crew in Afghanistan. Souza’s latest movie ¿Qué Culpa Tiene el Niño? opened at number one in her native Mexico in May.

A remake of Adrian Lyne’s Jacob’s Ladder has been brewing over in Hollywood for a few years now, and today, Variety reports that Ld Entertainment have found their lead in Michael Ealy.
Described as more of a reboot of the 1990 film than a straight remake, the project boasts a script from Alison Rosenzweig and Jeff Buhler, who rewrote Jake Wade Wall’s original draft, and has David Rosenthal behind the camera.
Plot details are scarce at this point, but Variety’s report mentions that it will be a “modern-day paranoid action thriller about two brothers.” That doesn’t give us a whole lot to go on, but apparently the producers are hoping to “contemporize the story with new situations and characters but still maintain a story that examines issues and poses existential questions.”

I'm not sure how well a remake of Jacob's Ladder would work, given the fact that so much of the experience is reliant on the twist at the end, but that's not stopping Hollywood from having a go at it. They're calling it an homage, rather than a remake, and a director has just been tapped to helm the project.
Read on for the skinny!
As per The Wrap, James Foley has signed on to direct the so-called homage. Foley was the director of 1992's Glengarry Glen Ross and he has recently directed episodes of Netflix's "House of Cards" and NBC's "Hannibal."
Mickey Liddell and Ld Entertainment’s Jennifer Monroe are producing the project with Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig. Jeff Buhler, who wrote the Clive Barker adaptation The Midnight Meat Train, is penning a script building upon an earlier draft by Jake Wade Wall, the scribe behind the 2006 remake of When a Stranger Calls.

"Glengarry Glen Ross" and "House of Cards" director James Foley is in negotiations to helm the new untitled take on Adrian Lyne's 1990 cult classic "Jacob’s Ladder" at Ld Entertainment.

James Foley, who hasn't directed a feature since 2007's Perfect Stranger, is in negotiations to direct the Jacob's Ladder remake for Ld Entertainment. We first reported on the project back in June.
The original thriller, directed by Adrian Lyne, starred Tim Robbins as a Vietnam veteran who suffers from bizarre hallucinations while trying to uncover clues about his checkered past. The new film is said to be more of a contemporary homage than a remake, introducing new characters and situations while tackling the same existential themes as the original.
Jeff Buhler (Midnight Meat Train) is writing the script, based on a first draft by Jake Wade Wall (When a Stranger Calls). Ld Entertainment's Mickey Liddell and Jennifer Monroe are producing with Michael J. Gaeta and Alison R. Rosenzweig. No production schedule was given.
James Foley is best known for films such as Glengarry Glen Ross, Fear, The Chamber and The Corruptor.

We suppose it was just a matter of time before someone got around to remaking the 1990 film Jacob's Ladder, which starred Tim Robbins; and alas, it's happening. Dodge your demons and read on for the skinny.
According to THR, Mickey Liddell’s Ld Entertainment is financing a remake that will be produced by Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig. Liddell also is producing with the company’s Jennifer Monroe.
Jeff Buhler, who wrote the Clive Barker adaptation The Midnight Meat Train, is penning a script building upon an earlier draft by Jake Wade Wall, the scribe behind the 2006 remake of When a Stranger Calls.
The original flick, written by Bruce Joel Rubin and directed by Adrian Lyne, ostensibly told of a Vietnam War vet who suffers increasingly bizarre hallucinations and attempts to discover the truth behind them. The movie, which has a twist ending, was made by Carolco and achieved cult hit status.

My partner Michael Gaeta and I [are] huge fans of the original. And we had been tracking the rights for a number of years and just sort of lying in wait until they...
