You might not know this if you're under 25, but Kevin Costner was a huge movie star before he was the world's biggest TV star. Yep, before playing the borderline psychopathic patriarch John Dutton in Taylor Sheridan's insanely popular "Yellowstone," Costner starred in many of the 1980s and '90s' biggest movies.
Costner first showed up on the silver screen in bit parts in the early 1980s. He started stealing scenes in supporting parts, quickly establishing himself as one of his era's most bankable "everyman" leading men, alongside Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, and Tom Hanks. Costner's legendary run as an A-list movie star included Academy Award winners, bonafide blockbusters, cinematic classics, and, yes, some of the biggest bombs of all time. I'm not going to talk (much) about those. Instead, I'm going to count down Costner's 14 best movies ever. If you're planning your own personal Costner movie marathon, check out this list.

A few years ago, after James Cameron finished the first Avatar film, his kids called a family meeting to deliver some notes on his parenting. Some of the kids, who today range in age from 15 to 32, had attended the Muse school in Calabasas that Cameron’s wife, Suzy Amis Cameron, founded in 2006. At Muse, students are encouraged to provide feedback to their teachers, and now the Cameron brood was emboldened to apply that same technique at home.
Cameron is known in the film business for getting what he wants when he wants it, from release dates to budgets to the right to mount elaborate oceanic expeditions on a studio’s dime. The director admits he has sometimes brought his hard-driving style home, and there are moments when his fathering has resembled the Robert Duvall character in The Great Santini, the relentless Marine colonel patriarch.

After giving one of the best supporting performances in last year’s mother!, Michelle Pfeiffer’s next leading role will finally arrive in theaters this spring following a Sundance premiere. Where is Kyra?–the latest film from Mother of George director Andrew Dosunmu, reteaming with the incredible Dp Bradford Young–follows the actress as a divorcee adrift in NYC trying find some semblance of clarity in her life.
“I could have gone the Tilda Swinton route,” Dosunmu told us when it comes to casting. “But you expect them to do this film. To me, the reason for doing this film was to add to the conversation, about our society. And what better way than to use Michelle, which is an American household face, because then it resonates with the audience, with the people. This can happen to anyone, and who is ‘anyone?’”

"Everywhere I go, I see her." Great Point Media + Paladin have released an official trailer for an indie drama titled Where is Kyra?, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year (in 2017) before playing at a few other film festivals. The film stars Michelle Pfeiffer as the titular Kyra, a Brooklyn woman who loses her job and struggles to survive on her ailing mother's income. As the weeks and months go on, her problems worsen. This leads her on a risky and enigmatic path that threatens her life. The cast includes Kiefer Sutherland, Suzanne Shepherd, and Sam Robards. This is directed by Andrew Dosunmu and features cinematography by the Academy Award-nominated Bradford Young, and music composed by Philip Young. It seems like a very heavy, very artsy film about how hard it is to stay afloat in today's brutal society. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Andrew Dosunmu's Where is Kyra?...

After years of development, the TV series adaptation of Idw horror comic Locke & Key is headed to Netflix soon.
The Locke & Key TV series sailed troubled waters before landing on Netflix.
The live-action adaptation was initially set for Hulu, which ordered (and shot) a pilot adapting writer Joe Hill's Idw horror comic book series, with Carlton Cuse (Lost) set to serve as showrunner. Auspiciously, Andy Muschietti directed Hulu's pilot after Doctor Strange's Scott Derrickson had to withdraw. Unfortunately, after all that, Hulu ended up passing on the project!
Netflix, however, came in for the rescue; a rescue that involved scrapping Hulu's pilot. Regardless, the Locke & Key TV series will finally arrive in February!

New York – She had it all. Just like Bogie and, well, her. Lauren “Betty” Bacall accidentally became a movie actress, but that accident led to stardom, two marriages to famous actors and a long life of award winning performances. The 89-year-old star died of a stroke in New York City on August 12th.
She thought her marriage to Humphrey Bogart – who was 26 years older than her – would be her epitaph, but Bacall had so much more going for her through her career, she forged ahead and established her own identity. In that second act, it was the stage that became her main calling, as she won Tony Awards for her lead performances in “Applause” and “Woman of the Year” on Broadway. Her husky voiced, independent style was broadly appealing, especially in her early co-starring roles with Bogart.

Hollywood has lost a second iconic voice in less than 24 hours. Lauren Bacall, star of screen, stage and television, passed away at the age of 89 Tuesday. Born Betty Joan Perske in the Bronx, New York in 1924, Bacall was discovered by director Howard Hawks' wife Nancy after she saw a photo of her in Vogue magazine. And, as they say, "a star was born." Everything has been spiraling out of control for all of the characters in ABC Family’s Twisted, and I’m not sure if things are going to get better any time soon. The mysterious crash that the police found in Vikram’s (T.J. Ramini) death has been in question ever since it was discovered by Kyle (Sam Robards). In the last episode the police found new evidence on the car from the crash, and much to our surprise, they found the fingerprints of Jack (Ivan Sergei) all over the car. He’s now the one in the spotlight who is being accused of killing … Continue reading →

When "Twisted" took its midseason break, the ABC Family mystery left several plots dangling in the air. Not only was the central question of who murdered Regina still no closer to any resolution, but fans were still wondering just why Danny (Avan Jogia) killed his aunt all those years ago and how his (not) dead dad Vikram was involved in the Regina mess. And then Danny ran, leaving his destination a question mark as well.
When the show returned for its midseason premiere on Tuesday (Feb. 11), it came prepared with answers. First off, Danny didn't even run. He was hiding in the vents of his house, where he overheard Kyle (Sam Robards) tell Karen (Denise Richards) that all signs pointed to Vikram being alive.
After getting out of the house and getting Jo (Maddie Hasson) and Lacey (Kylie Bunbury) in the same room the next day, Danny dropped the bomb: He didn't kill Tara.

Things keep getting more intense — and befuddling — on ‘Twisted.’ No one knows who to believe, who killed Regina, or whether Danny can be trusted yet.
Regina (Karynn Moore) is still a very dead girl, and Danny (Avan Jogia) is still a very suspicious figure in his hometown, but no one knows whodunnit! On the June 25 episode of Twisted, the pieces started coming together for several characters, but nothing was really resolved enough for the viewers to come to any conclusions. But hey, we’re only through with the third episode; there’s so much more drama to be had!
The Necklace Mystery Is Beginning To Come Together, For Some
In the first episode, the red and gold necklace was the only thing missing from the scene of Regina’s death, and although Danny denied killing her, he was found to be in possession of the necklace at the end of the hour.

When "Twisted" premieres on ABC Family this June, it'll have one more member in its ranks who knows from, well, twisted.
Zap2It can exclusively reveal that former "Breaking Bad" vet Christopher Cousins (yep -- Mr. Ted Beneke himself) will be joining the new drama in a recurring capacity as Mayor Rollins.
Presiding over Green Grove, Mayor Rollins is described as having a mega-watt smile and exuding political charm and charisma. Appearing in the series' fifth episode, on hand for the town's annual fall festival, viewers will learn that, despite his show of support for Police Chief Kyle Masterson's (Sam Robards, "Gossip Girl") investigation into the Crane murder (the show's central mystery), Mayor Rollins is not at all pleased with the progress being made.

You may know that I’m already something of a reluctant, if fairly enthusiastic, fan of ABC Family, and most of the shows they put out. If so, I don’t have to sell you on the two new series coming your way this summer (and only really want to sell you on one anyway).
Much as ABC Family may not quite be putting out the best shows on television, if you look at series that are predominantly geared toward a specific demographic… well, I think they might be actually. Younger audiences (and let’s face it, especially female audiences) are caught in a sort of black hole when it comes to television, and shows aimed at them today are either convinced that your brain doesn’t turn on until you’re 20 (actually, it switches off at about 11, and back on at some vague point), or have no real appeal...

"Twisted" and "The Fosters" are joining ABC Family's lineup of original shows. The network ordered both pilots to series.
"ABC Family is synonymous with groundbreaking storytelling and iconic characters," Michael Riley, president of ABC Family, said in a statement. "These new shows will bring the same depth, heart, close relationships and authenticity that our viewers have come to expect and, will pair nicely with our already established pop culture hits."
"Twisted," a one-hour mystery, follows a 16-year-old with a troubled past who reconnects with his two best friends from childhood. However, it's not all happy reunions as the young man becomes the prime suspect in a murder when a student is found dead in her home. Avan Jogia stars opposite Maddie Hasson, Kylie Bunbury, Kimberly Quinn, Sam Robards, Ashton Moio and Denise Richards.

ABC Family is jumping into pilot season with orders for two drama pilots. Both shows -- "The Fosters" and "Twisted" -- will begin production in the spring and will air in the summer of 2013.

Chicago – Charlie Kaufman (“Adaptation,” “Being John Malkovich”) once wrote for a TV sitcom so odd that its network and most of the U.S. had no idea what to make of it. Without question, “Get a Life” was ahead of its time. So much of the twisted comedy of 2012 owes a debt to this true oddity from two decades ago, a unique gem that is finally getting a complete series release years after fans started clamoring for it.
Rating: 4.5/5.0
Was it worth the wait? First and foremost, the show is much funnier than I remembered. As the audio commentary points out (and there’s one on every episode), the series premiere of “Get a Life” was a relatively straightforward comedy about a man-child. It wasn’t nearly as dark and twisted as it would later become. Quickly, “Get a Life” turned more into a show about a demented loner and...

Judy: Then she had her utopian tubes removed.
Gardner: No, that's fallopian, darlin'.
Judy: Fallopian? Them's books of the Bible silly...first and second Fallopians!
These immortal lines from Fandango are probably the film's most quoted dialogue, but they have plenty of hilarious competition. In another famous exchange, one frustrated character says to another, "You are the most irresponsible person I've ever met." The response: "Well, somebody had to be."
Released in 1985, Fandango is something of a cult favorite. Few critics would argue that the Texas-made film is a great movie, but it has enough snappy dialogue, colorful characters and memorable scenes to have earned a loyal fan base and a significant place in Texas film history.
Fandango's plot is summer-movie simple: Essentially, it's a road movie about five newly minted 1971 University of Texas graduates who call themselves the Groovers. Facing the frightening prospects of their post-graduation futures, they...

"Treme" began shooting its third season for HBO this week, and if things break the way co-creator David Simon hopes they will, he'll get one more season after this one to conclude the show's arc.
Simon, co-creator Eric Overmyer and fellow writer George Pelecanos met a couple times between seasons to hash out the story for the remainder of the series, and Simon tells the New Orleans Times-Picayune that they came up with two more seasons' worth of material. That would put the end of "Treme" at the close of Season 4. Simon tells the paper he sent a memo to HBO detailing their plans for the show.
Whether Simon's wish is granted is still an open question, of course. HBO hasn't committed to anything beyond the coming season yet. The channel's executives have previously voiced support for letting "Treme's" story play out the way its creators envision it, but there are no guarantees.
