      • Trivia
Won Broadway's 1972 Tony Award as author of Best Play winner "Sticks and Bones". He was also nominated three times as author of a Best Play nominee: in 1974 for "Boom Boom Room," in 1977 for "Streamers" and in 1985 for "Hurlyburly."
      • Quotes
My plays are fairly dense, language-wise, so the question is how do you negotiate and parcel out the dialogue? In general certain scenes onstage become funny and giddy because of the language. It worked well in Hurlyburly (1998) I was happy with the movie. I got involved in the editing of the film - lots of editing of stuff where I felt the text had become redundant because the actors had done so much with emotion. It's a very delicate process.
