We have some great news for fans of the Harlan Coben Netflix shows! The next new Harlan Coben show, Caught, premieres on Netflix in March 2025. While you wait for the new series to be available to stream, I picked the four Harlan Coben Netflix shows you should rewatch right now.

However, that doesn't mean they're all entertaining. We would hate for you to waste your time going through the rest of Coben's collection on Netflix without knowing which ones are truly worth the binge. That's why we're about to...

Breaking Baz: BBC And Broadway Eyeing Award-Winning West End Musical ‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’

Harlan Coben’s Cameos in Fool Me Once, Stay Close, The Stranger & More
Image
What links: a drug dealer in Trainspotting, a wrestling referee in The World According to Garp, a disgruntled restaurant guest in The Night Manager, an Aunt who slaps Madeline Brewer’s face in The Handmaid’s Tale, and a police officer in Jack Reacher: Never Go Back?

Correct! They were all cameo appearances in films and TV shows made by the author of the original books. While writers are as a rule happier out of the limelight thinking up their metaphors while hunched solo over a keyboard, every so often they straighten their spines to walk self-consciously through the back of shot in a movie based on one of their books. It’s fun for them. Gets them out of the house.

Best-selling thriller author Harlan Coben (the man behind the ever-growing Harlan Coben Screen Universe) is no different. Of the dozen TV series adapted from his twist-packed novels, he’s...

Mipcom Cannes Back With A Bang

Three years off: A palpable sense of excitement has settled over the global TV community as buyers, sellers, execs, journalists (of course) and everyone in between gets set to jet to Cannes for Mipcom. This year’s market, rebranded Mipcom Cannes, is effectively the first in person for three years (last year was hybrid) and there was a real sense of positivity when I spoke with five senior sales bosses for my annual preview. “People need people and this is a people business,” Fremantle’s Jens Richter told me, almost beaming. Sidse Babett Knudsen in Borgen (2010)
Borgen Season 4 Ending Should Have Gone for the Jugular
Sidse Babett Knudsen in Borgen (2010)
This article contains Borgen Season 4 spoilers

In April, 2020, it was announced that Danish political drama Borgen would be returning to TV screens after almost a decade away. Like many fans, I was delighted by the news. The show had been a source of joy during its original three season run; a sort of feminist, European version of The West Wing without the Sorkinisms but with a similarly huge helping of idealism splashed around the halls of Denmark’s Christiansborg Palace, as the savvy and shrewd Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen) became the country’s first female Prime Minister against all odds. Nyborg would go on to face wave after wave of fellow politicians and twisted media stalwarts who couldn’t wait to see her fall from grace, but she stood strong, nearly always coming out on top.

In Netflix’s Borgen revival, Power & Glory, Nyborg is still clinging to power...

“Birgitte Is Done!”: ‘Borgen’ Star Sidse Babett Knudsen Convinced Netflix Fourth Season Will Be The Last
Image
Sidse Babett Knudsen, star of returning Danish political TV drama Borgen, has rejected the idea that the series may continue past its brand new fourth season, set to debut in the US and UK on Netflix on June 2.

While its creator Adam Price, who wrote the hit previous three seasons as well as the forthcoming return, remains ambivalent, telling The Times of London, “Never say never” when asked about the prospect of carrying on, its female star remains emphatic. “No way. Birgitte is done.”

‘Birgitte’ is the politician at the centre of Borgen, a subtitled drama about Danish coalition politics that became an unlikely hit following its debut in 2012. Nine years have elapsed since the third season aired, but Price and his team were seduced by the lure of Netflix and the fourth season was announced back in 2020.

Netflix's latest crime thriller, The Stranger, is set for release on Jan. 30 and, in case you're wondering, no, it's not a true crime story. The Stranger is based on the 2015 bestselling novel of the same name, written by Harlan Coben. So, it basically combines two of our favorite things: a gripping crime story and a book-to-tv adaptation.

Just like the book, the Netflix original series tells the story of a seemingly perfect family whose lives are turned upside down when a stranger confronts Adam Price (played by The Hobbit's Richard Armitage) in a bar to tell him that his wife Corinne has been lying to him.

The first trailer starts with a montage of the family's happier moments, but switches gears when "the stranger" (Hannah John-Kamen) enters the mix and shatters their perfect life. What follows next is a series of high-stress scenes involving the police, a missing wife,...

The Stranger Review: A Binge-Worthy UK Thriller
Louisa Mellor Jan 31, 2020

Richard Armitage, Siobhan Finneran and some oddball elements elevate this very serviceable mystery thriller…

This is a spoiler-free review and comes from Den of Geek UK.

Secrets! Everybody’s got ‘em. Sordid little lies tucked away behind incognito tabs and fake online usernames. Maybe you diddled your expenses or your mortgage application or your son’s clarinet teacher. Let’s say you robbed Peter to pay Paul, then knocked Peter over the back of the head with a golf club and fed his remains to Paul’s pig. Whatever foul canker you’ve shoved so far up inside your folds nobody could ever find it, you’d better hope that you don’t get a visit from the Stranger.

The Stranger is Netflix’s new UK thriller, adapted by Danny Brocklehurst from the 2015 novel of the same name by crime mystery superstar Harlan Coben. It’s about...

Netflix Teams With ‘The Killing’ Creator for Crime Thriller ‘The Chestnut Man’
Haugesund, Norway — Further expanding its Scandinavian footprint, Netflix has announced its second Danish original series, “The Chestnut Man,” a police thriller based on “The Killing” creator Søren Sveistrup’s popular novel.

The streaming giant will team with Sveistrup’s Sam Productions, minority owned by Studiocanal, part of Vivendi Canal Plus Group, to deliver this noir-influenced literary adaptation, which will track two Copenhagen detectives as they investigate an increasingly high profile murder case.

“Netflix has shown a strong, genuine interest in my book and I’m excited about the deal and confident that Netflix will be the perfect place for [it],” says Sveistrup.

The six-episode, 50-minute series marks Netflix’s continued push into the Scandinavian market. In recent years, the streamer picked up international rights for the TV 2 produced potboiler “Borderliner” and partnered with Miso Film for their first Danish original, “The Rain.” The latter will draw to a close following its third season next year.

Seven Takeaways from Variety’s European TV Summit
At Variety’s first European TV Summit on Thursday, held at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel, headline speakers Ricky Gervais, the creator of global successes including “The Office” and “Afterlife,” and Sharon Horgan, the force behind hit comedies “Catastrophe” and “Divorce,” shared their insights, alongside a host of industry leaders. Here are some of the takeaways.

Make It Personal

Gervais, who revealed that he has a first-look deal with Netflix, said he bases his shows on personal experience and strives for honesty. “As I get older, I don’t want to try to be bigger or richer or win more awards. I just want to go: Is this the most honest I have ever been? That is what drives me now,” he said. Gareth Neame, executive producer of “Downton Abbey,” said something similar: “You should be making a show for yourself; you have to love it.”
