Pro wrestling legend Chris Jericho is set to star in the upcoming UPtv original movie “Country Hearts,” Variety has learned exclusively.

The film, which will premiere this fall, follows “the daughters of country music and rock & roll royalty who find themselves at a crossroads, torn between following their dreams of performing or helping their father run their up-and-coming horse breeding business,” per the official description. “Between old flames, new love, best friends and family – they’ll all need the strength of each other to face the next steps.”

Production on the 16th season of “Heartland” is currently underway in Alberta, and Et Canada has exclusive first-look photos from the upcoming season of the longest-running one-hour drama in Canadian TV history.

The new season will feature 15 episodes — an increase from last season’s 10 — and will find the Bartlett-Fleming family coming together as never before to face their fears and being the next chapter in their lives.

“For Amy that means taking the blinders off and looking at her life with renewed hope and focus,” notes the synopsis. “She’ll be challenged by the horses that need her help, but she’ll also open herself up to the possibility of new friendships and maybe even romance.”

Exclusive: The 2019 Screamfest Horror Film Festival has taken a bite out of Eat, Brains, Love, setting the Rodman Flender-directed zombie romantic comedy as its opening-night film. The annual genre fest will run October 8-17 at the Tcl Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood.

Eat, Brains, Love, which world premiered last month at the UK’s Frighfest, is about Jake (Jake Cannavale) and his dream girl Amanda (Angelique Rivera). The good news is she finally knows his name — but the bad news is both contracted a mysterious sexually transmitted zombie virus and devoured the brains of half their senior class. A teen psychic (Sarah Yarkin) sent by the government’s top-secret Necrotic Control Division is sent to track them down. Patrick Fabian also stars.

Toronto-based V71 heads to Berlin with worldwide sales rights to the darkly comic She Never Died and has struck a deal for Xyz Films to represent Us sales.

The film wrapped production in Ontario last summer and is a companion piece to the 2015 fantasy comedy He Never Died starring Henry Rollins, which Xyz Films licensed to Vertical Entertainment for worldwide distribution.

Often it feels like there are not enough ghost stories based horror films these days, but then when you think about it we’ve had Insidious, Sinister and The Conjuring just to name a few. I’m not sure why I feel there needs to be more but this could be a sign that things need to be shaken up a bit. Saying that though I’ll be reviewing Soulmate soon which is a good old-fashioned ghost story that gets so much right, so most importantly these films just need to be good. Telefilm Canada has confirmed its financial support of nearly $13 million of Canadian tax payers' money towards the production of nine English-language feature films through the 'Canada Feature Film Fund', although there doesn't seem to be anything culturally 'Canadian' about most of their selections, other than the crews that will be working on them.

Among the films receiving money include a psycho horror with a demonic 'Santa Claus', a bio pic about a former Queen of Sweden, the 'relationship' between 'James Dean' and a photographer, a thriller involving a Satanic child abuse sex ring, and an inflatable Sex Doll drug smuggling story:

Haunter was released late last year to select theaters and is also available on Cable VOD and a number of digital platforms. If you’ve been holding out for the Blu-ray / DVD release, the movie will be available early next month.

“Lisa Johnson is one day shy of her sixteenth birthday. And she will be forever. She and her family are dead and doomed to repeat that fateful last day before they were all killed in 1985. Only Lisa has “woken up” and realizes what is going on. She starts to feel as if she is being haunted, but the “ghost” turns out to be Olivia, a very much alive girl who lives in the house in the present day with her own family. With her help, Lisa discovers that the house once belonged to a serial killer who kidnapped teenage girls and burned their remains in a hidden furnace room.

During a press event for Carrie, which is now available on Blu-ray and DVD, our own Brian Gallagher was invited to a Hollywood studio where a bucket of fake blood was dumped on his head, just like the iconic scene in the horror remake. Earlier this week, I was invited to a special press event where I got to chat with director Kimberly Peirce about her horror remake Carrie, which recently took home the People's Choice Award for Best Horror Movie, and is currently avaialable on Blu-ray and DVD. NBC may have cancelled Saving Hope after one season but the medical drama continues to prosper north of the border. CTV has renewed the series for a third season.

They've ordered 18 new installments which will bring series' episode total to 49 episodes. Production will begin in the spring and the remainder of season two episodes will start airing this January. The summer portion of the second season drew an average of 1.3 million viewers.

Saving Hope's cast includes Erica Durance, Michael Shanks, Daniel Gillies, Wendy Crewson, Huse Madhavji, Julia Taylor-Ross, Kristopher Turner, Michelle Nolden, and Benjamin Ayres.
