Apple TV+ has revealed its Emmy submissions for Severance with Adam Scott submitted for Best Drama Actor and Britt Lower for Best Drama Actress, Gold Derby has learned.

Ben Stiller, Jessica Lee Gagné, and Uta Briesewitz will be submitted for the Best Drama Directing, while creator Dan Erickson will be in the Best Drama Writing category.

The show’s other main cast members will run in the supporting categories: Michael Chernus, Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken in Best Drama Supporting Actor, and Patricia Arquette, Sarah Bock, Dichen Lachman, and Jen Tullock in Best Drama Supporting Actress.

The show also has eight contenders in the Guest Actor/Actress categories:

Due to its very premise, "Severance" tends to focus on the "innie" workers who toil away on the severed floor of Lumon Industries' headquarters in Kier, Pe. These characters lead a mysterious, isolated, and utterly strange existence that forms the backbone of the show's mysteries. However, the very reason they exist is that at some point, a person agreed to undergo Lumon's infamous and controversial severance procedure. This split their personalities into their usual "outie" selves and the innies, the latter of which only exist within the confines of the severed floor -- or, in rare circumstances, when Lumon activates them off-site with a process called the Overtime Contingency Protocol.

As the show slowly reveals, the severance process is drastic, and many of the outies have equally drastic reasons for agreeing to it. Some of them are on a mission, others are looking for better opportunities, while others still are simply trying to escape something.

Quinta Brunson is moderating a Q&a about the second season of the drama series. The event, which includes an all-guild screening of the Adam Scott-fronted show, will take place at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles on March 22.

Brunson is not directly involved in Severance but is close with Scott, having guest-starred on the revival of Starz’s Party Down that aired in 2023.

Since premiering in January 2025, Severance season 2 has been one of the biggest and most talked about shows on television this year. The two-year gap between the first and second season didn't prevent fans from tuning back in and only seemed to pull new fans into the important and mysterious happenings at Lumon Industries. The first season of “Severance” kept its characters “Outies” close to the chest (except for Adam Scott’s), but halfway through Season 2, viewers know a lot more. Burt’s Husband Fields: A Timeline That Doesn’t Add Up

One of the most intriguing moments for me was during the dinner scene with Burt, Irving, and Fields. When they were reminiscing, Fields mentioned that he and Burt started using the nickname “Attila” about 20 years ago. Burt, however, corrected him, saying it had only been 10 years. This might seem like a minor disagreement, but Irving’s quick reminder that severance technology has only existed for 12 years made my ears perk up.

Amid Episode 6’s revealing, awkward, and intimate dinner party, Fields (John Noble) presents a seemingly innocuous opinion. “I believe Innies deserve to experience love,” he says. In the moment, it’s a supportive, friendly gesture. Fields, after all, is sharing his table with a man, Irving (John Turturro), who had an “erotic entanglement” with his husband, Burt (Christopher Walken). That their romantic relationship was restricted to the office, where the couple worked as severed employees, is a significant distinction — if Innies and Outies are independent individuals, with no real knowledge of what the other is doing, thinking, or feeling, then it would be hard for Fields to argue his husband betrayed him.

But that’s a big “if.” In the world of “Severance,” people have been arguing over whether Innies and Outies are separate people since the...

Mark’s hallucination at the end of “Trojan’s Horse” was one of the more upsetting sequences of Severance to date. Not only did Mark S. have to watch his wife in the Lumon halls, but he could not even get her to respond. The result was instantly paralyzing, and his reintegration appears to be underway. “Attila” looks to dive deeper into this aspect of the series, opening the door for stranger and more upsetting actions from Lumon in the weeks ahead.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has become Lumon’s newest employee in a promotional spot for the second season of “Severance.”

The teaser, which was shared by director Ben Stiller, sees Cook heading down to the severance floor after undergoing the surgical procedure to divide his identity between work and personal life. Upon arrival, Cook’s grim face turns into a smile as his innie, dubbed Tim C., roams the halls of Lumon before being greeted by supervisor Mr. Milchick, portrayed by Tramell Tillman.

“Tim C., core of the Apple,” Milchick says. “Have a seat.”

Cook nods and proceeds to sit in front of a monitor that displays “Severance Season 2” followed by the Apple TV+ logo with the words, “Now Streaming.”

The first season of Severance became an instant hit for Apple. The surreal workplace thriller blended elements of science fiction, dark comedy, and brilliant, subversive twists to keep viewers wondering what was coming next in the world of innies and outies. Dan Erickson’s drama centers around a surgical procedure that separates the work self from the off-hours self, meaning the Lumon crew were very much on the clock at Grand Central.

Onlookers captured them interacting and throwing paper planes at one another, all under the watchful eye of the Tillman’s menacing Milchick.

In the way that Lumon Industries is disconnected to its workers on Apple TV+’s Severance, so too is Hollywood perhaps disoriented about its creatives, Ben Stiller posits.

Previewing the highly anticipated and delayed second season of the mystery-box thriller to the New York Times in a recent interview, the executive producer and director likened the lack of control the series’ characters have to a similar floundering facing those in the entertainment industry.

“At a certain point there’s always somebody making a decision who is not making it to your face or you don’t even know who that person is,” Stiller said, referencing the show’s unraveling of a group of workers who have chosen to surgically bifurcate their brains into work (aka innies) and home (outies) selves.
