Russell Crowe's Spooky Pope Movie Is A Must-Watch For Hulu Users
Image

Julius Avery's goofy-ass demonic thriller "The Pope's Exorcist" was released in April of 2023, but I think it knows in its heart that it's a January movie. "The Pope's Exorcist" is about Father Gabriele Amorth, a real-life priest who worked as a specialized exorcist for the Diocese of Rome, the district that the Pope himself oversees. Amorth was one of the founding members of the International Association of Exorcists, a very real enclave of some 900 priests who specialize in demonic possession. Amorth wrote two memoirs based on his experiences as an exorcist ("An Exorcist Tells His Story" and "An Exorcist: More Stories"), and the writers of "The Pope's Exorcist" extrapolated them into a very, very loose film adaptation.

Russell Crowe, trying on a very thick Italian accent, plays Amorth, and the film details a specific demonic possession he encountered in...

Karla Sofía Gascón to Star as Psychiatrist Who ‘Embodies God and the Devil’ in ‘The Life Lift’ With Vincent Gallo (Exclusive)
Image
“Emilia Pérez” star Karla Sofía Gascón has set her first project after controversy erupted in January over her past offensive tweets. The Oscar nominee revealed that she will lead “The Life Lift,” a psychological thriller co-starring Vincent Gallo and directed by Italian first-timer Stefania Rossella Grassi. According to the film’s synopsis, Gascón is set to play a psychiatrist who “embodies both God and the devil.”

Gallo, the controversial director and star of “The Brown Bunny” and “Buffalo ’66,” is set for a role in “The Life Lift” as a tormented character named Gabriel, who lives in a small New York apartment and becomes persecuted by Post-its left in the building’s elevator. These messages “order him to commit atrocious murders of three other tenants who, in turn, want to kill their next-of-kin,” reads the film’s promotional materials, obtained exclusively by Variety.

Gascón first announced last week that she...

This Underrated 57-Year-Old Sergio Corbucci Spaghetti Western Was Released the Same Year as His 100% Rotten Tomatoes Masterpiece (& They're Both Incredible)
Image
Fans already know Sergio Leone is the father of the "Spaghetti Western" and has had a significant impact on cinema. There will truly be no greater masterpiece in the sub-genre than The Good, The Bad and the Ugly or a more masterful body of work than the Dollars Trilogy. Leone shaped the direction of Westerns worldwide in the '60s and then continued to prove he was one of the greatest auteurs of all time throughout the rest of his career. He's usually the only Sergio fans think of when they think of Spaghetti Westerns. However, there was another Sergio who had just as big an impact on the sub-genre. In fact, Sergio Corbucci made more Spaghetti Westerns in his career than Sergio Leone.

Perhaps his most iconic film is the 1966 film Django, which got mainstream publicity after Quentin Tarantino's 2012 film Django Unchained. However, Corbucci made several great Spaghetti...

15 Toughest Western Heroes of All Time, Ranked
Image
Since the Golden Age of Hollywood, the film industry has tackled a range of genres, from horror to comedy, delivering audiences a long list of iconic stories and heroes. The Western has proven particularly fascinating, bringing the medium some of its strongest scripts and best-written heroes. One of the defining traits of a good hero of the Old West is endurance and grit, two features key to survival on the frontier.

Western heroes represent some of the most morally ambiguous characters in fiction due to the time's ever-changing morality as criminals could reinvent themselves as lawmen or bounty hunters. Even beyond the Old West, the archetypes established by the genre have laid the foundations of iconic franchises, whether it's Star Wars' Mandalorian or the crew of Firefly. Thanks to actors like Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, audiences have decades of hardened heroes to choose from when it comes to tough Western protagonists.

Best Spaghetti Westerns Without Clint Eastwood
Image
A spaghetti western is defined as a low-budget Western film created by European directors, and for the most part, they were primarily produced in Italy during the 1960s. In addition to a long list of different filming techniques, spaghetti Westerns were unique in the fact that they often focused on the negative aspects of Westerns, such as the corruption and violence at the center of many of it its stories.

As many Western fans are likely aware, Clint Eastwood famously starred in three spaghetti westerns: A Fistful of Dollars in 1964, The Good, the Bad and The Ugly in 1966, and For a Few Dollars More in 1965. Though he is considered a figurehead within the genre of Spaghetti Westerns, there are a wide variety of Spaghetti Westerns that are just as fantastical but do not star Eastwood.

10 Best Movies Set In Georgia, Ranked
Image
The great state of Georgia has been home to an impressive number of film productions, including a number of Marvel Studios movies, but only a very small percentage of those are actually set in Georgia. Instead, the Atlanta streets frequently play the role of New York or Washington D.C., and its wild spaces can be used to represent just about anywhere.

But what about those movies that actually take place in the beautiful, complicated Peach State? Films as diverse and wonderful as "Magic Mike Xxl" and "Days of Thunder" all have great stretches set in Georgia, but some films go even further and really represent a little slice of the state with most of their runtime. Whether it's Clint Eastwood's genteel Savannah true crime murder mystery "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," having an aca-awesome time with college acapella performers in Atlanta in "Pitch Perfect," or...

The other films that were awarded multiple prizes were A24’s The Brutalist, which received three, including best actor for Adrien Brody; and, with two each, Focus’ Conclave, including best supporting actress for Isabella Rossellini; Warners’ Dune: Part Two; and Universal’s Wicked.

10 Best Spaghetti Westerns For People That Love Quentin Tarantino Movies
Image
One of the best-known niches in the Western genre is the movies made in Italy during the height of Western film popularity, commonly known as Spaghetti Westerns. Highly influential thanks to their political discussions, historical relevance, and boundary-pushing gore, Spaghetti Westerns have inspired great filmmakers of many genres, particularly those who have made contemporary Westerns. One of the most famous modern directors of Westerns and well-known for his violent stories, Quentin Tarantino, makes movies for audiences who would respond well to the classic genre.

Many of Quentin Tarantino's best movie characters share traits with the iconic anti-heroes found in classic Spaghetti Westerns. Grappling with the role of isolation and justice in the so-called "lawless" West, these characters are often forced to interrogate their own positions as forces for good or evil. While the graphic imagery and fast-paced fight sequences are definitive aspects of Tarantino's filmography, that's not all these Spaghetti Westerns have to offer.

Frank Sinatra Biopic From Taxi Driver Writer Was Scrapped As He Refused To Cast Anyone Other Than "Canceled" Oscar Winner
Image
Taxi Driver screenwriter Paul Schrader says he could’ve done a Frank Sinatra biopic, but the project died over his insistence on casting a "canceled" actor to star. Schrader, who has worked as both a director and writer, has been attached to a number of unproduced biopics, but his Sinatra movie stood out. The legendary singer and actor has been rumored as a biopic subject for years, but this long-dreamed-about Sinatra movie has yet to materialize. Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are the biggest names trying to bring Sinatra’s story to the screen, but their planned project has reportedly stalled.

Famed Scorsese collaborator Schrader may not be involved in this proposed DiCaprio-starring Sinatra biopic, but he has considered the idea of making his own movie about the life of the superstar mafia-connected crooner. The agreement would only come if he was allowed to cast one particular actor as the leading man.

10 Best Portrayals Of War Movie Villains, Ranked

Providing their audience with an unflinching snapshot of the life-or-death nature of armed conflict, war movies have formed an intrinsic part of popular culture since the earliest days of cinema, to the point that storied names in the vein of Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, and The Deer Hunter are widely regarded as some of the best movies of all time. Furthermore, many of the best war films of all time owe much of their success to a superb villain who carries the story with their wicked presence, serving as the perfect antagonistic foil.

In many cases, the villain is the movie's best character, with the actor tasked with bringing them to life producing a nuanced and compelling performance that has the potential to overshadow the efforts of the film's protagonists. From morally devoid war criminals and renegade soldiers to Machiavellian double agents, the best portrayals of war movie villains...

Kevin Spacey Plays ‘The Devil’ in Trailer for Italian Indie Thriller ‘The Contract,’ Set for Cairo Film Festival Premiere (Exclusive)
Image
Italian indie thriller “The Contract,” starring Kevin Spacey as a character named “The Devil,” is set to world premiere at the Cairo Film Festival this week, without Spacey on the red carpet in the Egyptian capital’s Opera House.

In the film, Spacey plays a role that has been described in promotional materials as somewhat akin to Al Pacino’s role in “Devil’s Advocate”– or as Satan who takes the guise of a human lawyer. The tagline of the rather rudimentary poster for “The Contract” is “When Hell Surrounds You The Devil Is Your Last Hope.”

In the trailer, for what looks like a low-budget TV movie, Spacey’s character, is seen screaming lines such as: “I can feel it when they lie to me on purpose, and I go crazy!” and “I don’t care about the past, it’s all long gone!”

The psychological thriller is directed by...

A 1996 Bruce Willis Western Was A Failed Remake Of An Akira Kurosawa Classic
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

In Stuart Galbraith IV's invaluable film biography "The Emperor and the Wolf" -- a detailed rundown of the collaborations between director Akira Kurosawa and actor Toshiro Mifune -- Kurosawa was asked about Sergio Leone's Western "A Fistful of Dollars." Kurosawa reportedly said that Leone's film was "a fine movie, but it's my movie." Leone, as cineastes all know, will be able to tell you, ripped off Kurosawa's 1961 film "Yojimbo," pretty much beat-for-beat, to make "A Fistful of Dollars." Toho, the production company that distributed "Yojimbo," sued Leone and the case was settled out of court.

"Yojimbo," for those unlucky enough not to have seen it, is about a nameless ronin (Mifune) who wanders into a remote 1860s village to discover a vicious gang battle raging. It seems two groups of yakuza are fighting over the gambling rights in this town,...

The Unsung Hero Of John Wick Explains How The Keanu Reeves Franchise Remains So Good 10 Years Later
Image
There are a lot of things that make John Wick great, but Willem Dafoes role in the original film established the franchises penchant for bringing in scene-stealing guest stars to round out the cast. When John Wick was first released in theaters in 2014, no one expected it to launch a blockbuster franchise that could go toe-to-toe with Marvel and Fast & Furious. But the seeds of a potential franchise were there. The revelation of a fancy hotel chain that caters specifically to the assassin community teased the impressive worldbuilding that the John Wick franchise has been built on.

Above all, what audiences love about this franchise is the characters. The title character has become a mythic figure in pop culture, revitalizing Keanu Reeves career, but there are plenty of fascinating supporting players around him, too. Winston gave John a lovable, if morally questionable father figure, while Charon gave him a close friend to confide in.

10 Great Western Sequels You Need To See
Image
Western sequels, like The Lost City of Gold, can expand upon the original with epic narratives and iconic stars. Films like Return of the Seven may not bring back all original cast members but still capture the magic of the original. Classics like Trinity Is Still My Name prove that Western sequels can balance comedy and action for a successful franchise.

Although there have been countless great Western movies over the years, this was not a genre well-known for boasting a lot of fantastic sequels. Whether it's because the nature of cowboys, gunslingers, and outlaws usually led to an early grave or because some of the best Westerns were based on fact, its rare to find a truly must-watch Western sequel. However, there were a select few Western sequels that lovers of the genre absolutely must check out that lived up to or even improved upon the original movie or source material.

Quentin Tarantino is a huge fan of the vintage movie-going experience and the styles of older films. Because of this, much of his inspiration is derived from specific subcultures within genres of cinema. In the case of his recent string of westerns like The Hateful Eight and Django: Unchained, Quentin Tarantino delved into both slower, but deadly westerns mixed with who-done-it mysteries, and classic spaghetti westerns. Some years later, Quentin Tarantino moved the lens of his storytelling back a dimension in...

The Harrison Ford Box Office Bomb That Inspired Star Wars: Rogue One
Image
Gareth Edwards' 2016 nostalgia-fest "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" seems to have been made to address what some people call a plot hole in George Lucas' 1977 film "Star Wars." In Lucas' film, the young Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) pilots a light attack craft up to a miniature hole in the exterior of the moon-sized Death Star, drops a bomb in it, and causes the entire superstructure to blow up. It is a satisfying ending to an exhilarating sci-fi pulp adventure.

Starwoids, however, watched Lucas films enough times that they began to ask questions. Why, the query went, would the deathly efficient Empire build a moon-sized planet-killing machine with such a grievous design flaw? Why build something so large and overpowered if a single bomb from a light attack craft can destroy it entirely?

The makers of "Rogue One" took that criticism to heart, and backward-engineered a story to explain the flaw.

Kevin Spacey to Receive Italian Nations Award for Lifetime Achievement
Image
Italy, it seems, has forgiven Kevin Spacey.

On July 21, the two-time Oscar-winning actor will be honored with Italy’s Nations Award for Lifetime Achievement at a special gala in the historic southern Sicilian town of Taormina. The award is organized under the patronage of the Italian Senate and the state of Sicily. At the event, Spacey is also set to give an onstage performance at Taormina’s historic Greek Theatre.

“Kevin Spacey is a timeless monument in film and theater history, who unquestionably deserves the chance to get his career back,” said award organizers Michel Curatolo and Marco Fallanca.

The honor comes as The Usual Suspects and American Beauty star continues to battle multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against him. Spacey has always denied all criminal charges. He was found not guilty in sexual assault trials in the U.S. and the U.K. but still faces a new civil trial in Britain,...

Kevin Spacey To Be Feted In Italy With Nations Award For Lifetime Achievement
Image
Kevin Spacey will be honored with the Nations Award for Lifetime Achievement at a special gala evening in the historic southern Italian town of Taormina in July.

The organizers said The Usual Suspects and American Beauty Oscar winner will also give a short on-stage performance at the event, taking place on July 21 in Taormina’s 4,000-seats Greek-roman Theatre.

The event, which is part of a program of cultural events running in the landmark ancient amphitheater across the summer, is not connected to the Taormina Film Festival, which runs from July 12 to 19.

The honor comes as Spacey continues to battle multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against him, which he has denied.

He was found not liable in a 2022 battery case brought by actor Anthony Rapp in the U.S., and not guilty in a UK trial in 2023, related to allegations by four men, but faces a fresh civil trial in the...

Blu-ray Review: Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s ‘Querelle’ on the Criterion Collection
Image
Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s whirlwind career of 40-plus movies made within just over a dozen years kicked off with Love Is Colder Than Death. It ended, all too soon, with a sendoff that may as well have been called Death Is Hotter Than Love. Even if it hadn’t wound up being Fassbinder’s final cinematic will and testament, Querelle, an uber-horny but otherwise unorthodox adaptation of Jean Genet’s 1947 novel Querelle of Brest, would still feel like a film precariously perched between rowdy, profane life and that liminal, insatiable zone that always follows la petite mort.

But because the timeline spanning the film’s completion to its release was bisected by Fassbinder’s death from a drug overdose, it’s nearly impossible to avoid overlaying the gorgeously wrecked glamour of his entire career onto the film, draping the virtue of his carnal vices over a package that’s already prodigiously overstuffed.

Henry Selick, Zhang Yimou, Cristi Puiu, Óliver Laxe & More Set Next Features
Image
Following up Wendell & Wild, animation wizard Henry Selick is planning to return to the world of Neil Gaiman with an adaptation of The Ocean at the End of the Lane. “Instead of a child going to this other world with a monstrous mother, it’s a monstrous mother who comes into our world to wreak havoc on a kid’s life,” Selick told Variety, contrasting the film with his previous Gaiman adaptation Coraline. Gaiman’s 2013 novel follows “an unnamed man who returns to his hometown for a funeral and remembers events that began forty years earlier.” Selick is currently shopping the project around, so hopefully we’ll have distribution news soon.

While Liu Cixin’s The Three-Body Problem was recently adapted by Alexander Woo, David Benioff, and D.B. Weiss for the Netflix series, a feature adaptation is now in the works from Zhang Yimou. As reported at the Shanghai International Film Festival,...

Dario Argento & Franco Nero Join Interactive Horror-Thriller ‘The Run’
Image
Exclusive: British filmmaker Paul Raschid has added veteran Italian filmmaker Dario Argento and actor Franco Nero to his latest interactive project The Run.

Raschid directs from a screenplay he also wrote. The film is described as a “horror-thriller”. The interactive element will involve the viewer being asked to make high-stakes decisions for the protagonist at various points throughout the story that will affect the direction of the narrative and in some cases, result in early death.

The project is currently shooting in Northern Italy. The story is set on a remote running trail, where a famous fitness influencer’s morning run becomes a race for survival when she is hunted by seemingly motiveless killers. She meets local farmer Matteo along the way and the viewer’s choices determine whether they live or die.

Also starring are Roxanne McKee and George Blagden. Rounding out the cast are Fabio Testi Jamie Ward Jemma Donovan, and Katia Ricciarelli.

Argento is best known as the master of Giallo horror, with credits including Suspiria, Deep Red, and Phenomena. Nero is an Italian screen legend. His breakout role came in the 1966 Spaghetti Western film Django.

The Run is a Benacus Entertainment production in association with Rnf Productions. Raschid’s previous interactive features include The Gallery, a hostage-thriller also starring Blagden, and the interactive rom-com Five Dates.

Benacus Entertainment and Rnf Productions are production and production service companies based in Atlanta, Georgia. Their credits include Double Down South, St Agatha, Walden, and Degenerate.

Russell Crowe Horror Movie The Pope's Exorcist Sequel Confirmed by Producer
Image
Russell Crowe's performance as Father Gabriele Amorth has propelled The Pope's Exorcist to cult status in just a short time. Producer Jeff Katz has confirmed a sequel is in the works, exciting fans of the supernatural horror film. Despite mixed reviews, the film was a box office success and has a strong international following, hinting at brighter sequel prospects.

Despite only being released in 2023, The Pope's Exorcist has already achieved a level of cult status that some horror films have waited years for. Thanks in large part to Russell Crowe's scenery-chewing performance as Father Gabriele Amorth, the film continues to win over moviegoers who have watched it, and it doesn't hurt that it has been the subject of several internet memes, which has made Crowe on a moped the movie's signature image. For those worried that the Pope would not be making a return, fear not! It would appear...

The Pope’s Exorcist sequel gets the greenlight
Image
It’s been one year since Columbia Pictures / Screen Gems brought The Pope’s Exorcist (read our review Here), a supernatural thriller starring Russell Crowe, to theatres. Just two weeks after the film was released, our friends at Bloody Disgusting heard that a sequel was in development… but then things went quiet for a while. Crowe recently said that The Pope’s Exorcist was meant to kick off a trilogy, but the franchise’s progress had been slowed down by “a change of studio heads.” Things have apparently been worked out, though, because producer Jeff Katz of Worldwide Katz has just taken to social media to announce that the Pope’s Exorcist sequel has been given the greenlight!

Katz wrote, “Amorth Nation — I just got the call. It’S Officially Happening!!! “È un seguito, amici miei.”* Thank you to the amazing #ThePopesExorcist fans. You made this happen. Gas up your Lambretta – and get ready to ride.

Watch the Trailer for Russell Crowe’s Second Exorcism Movie in a Year
Image
It may not have been his plan, but Russell Crowe is capitalizing on the return of the iconic “The Exorcist” franchise with separate standalone religious horror films “The Exorcism,” out June 7, and 2023’s “The Pope’s Exorcist.”

Crowe leads Joshua John Miller’s “The Exorcism” as an actor facing demons — maybe literal ones. Consider it a meta twist: The film centers on Anthony Miller (Crowe), a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins), wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play.

The buzzy cast includes Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, David Hyde Pierce, Josh Warren, Adrian Pasdar, and Tracey Bonner.

Director Miller co-wrote the script with M.A. Fortin. “The Exorcism” marks Miller and Fortin’s second feature, after the 2015 horror comedy “The Final Girls.” They also co-created the...

Domhnall Gleeson and White Lotus’s Sabrina Impacciatore cast in Greg Daniels’s new comedy set in The Office universe
Image
Greg Daniels and Michael Koman could return to The Office universe, with Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) as cast members of the proposed spinoff. Gleeson and Inpacciatore would be part of an ensemble for the project, which Deadline says is close to entering production. Plot details about The Office spinoff remain a mystery.

We know only a little about the project beyond its setting in The Office universe. Daniels wants fans to know it’s not a reboot, even though it takes place in the same arena as the Steve Carell-led mockumentary series focusing on the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company employees. Daniels says the new show could feature a camera crew doing a documentary about a subject outside the day-to-day lives of office workers surviving the daily grind and their toxic boss.

Domhnall Gleeson launched his acting career in 2001 as a character named Byrne in an episode of Rebel Heart.

Murray Abraham; Angela Molina; Franco Nero (no relation to the director); Diana Dell’Erba; Mexico’s Iazua Larios (“Sundown”) and Italy-based Japanese actor Hal Yamanouchi (“The Wolverine”) – just wrapped principle photography on the island of Sardinia, where it made ample use of its ancient megalithic stone constructions, dunes and craggy landscapes. See an exclusive first-look image of Keitel above.

The Pope’s Exorcist may be chapter one in a trilogy
Image
It’s been almost exactly one year since Columbia Pictures / Screen Gems brought The Pope’s Exorcist (read our review Here), a supernatural thriller starring Russell Crowe, to theatres. Just two weeks after the film was released, our friends at Bloody Disgusting heard that a sequel was in development… but everything has been quiet since then. During a recent interview with The Six O’Clock Show, Crowe confirmed that a sequel is in development – and that The Pope’s Exorcist was actually meant to be chapter one in a trilogy!

As it turns out, things have been quiet on the Pope’s Exorcist front because there was a behind-the-scenes shake-up with the studio executives, but it sounds like Crowe still has hopes that the trilogy is going to happen. He told The Six O’Clock Show (with thanks to MovieWeb for the transcription), “(A sequel) is in discussion at the moment. The...

Russell Crowe Suggests The Pope's Exorcist Might Expand into a Trilogy
Image
The Pope's Exorcist's success paved the way for a possible sequel, or even a trilogy, opening up new avenues for storytelling. Crowe's enthusiasm and a wealth of source material from Father Gabriele Amorth's books suggest exciting possibilities for potential sequels. A stalled ambitious vision for a franchise due to studio changes hints at a future trilogy that could explore exorcism globally.

Russell Crowe has hinted 2023's The Pope's Exorcist might just be the beginning of a larger saga.

With a modest budget of $18 million, the movie managed to rake in over $77 million. The film's box office performance prompted discussions of a sequel. However, Crowe, the star of the film, suggests that the future might hold even more than just one additional installment.

And remember, the man that's based on, Gabriele Amorth, he wrote 12 books. So we have more than enough source material to do one or two more of those films.

Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats Announce New Album Nell’ Ora Blu
Image
Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats have announced a new album, Nell’ Ora Blu, arriving May 10th via Rise Above Records.

The 19-track opus is effectively a double-album and promises to be the most ambitious offering from the British doom band to date.

Previous Uncle Acid albums like Blood Lust, Mind Control, and The Night Creeper function like the aural equivalent of ’70s exploitation horror films, each with its own narrative arc. On Nell’ Ora Blu, the band stretch that concept to the limit, creating a seamless listening experience that blends the worlds of cinema and heavy psych.

“I know something like this might have limited appeal, but who cares?” said Uncle Acid mastermind Kevin Starrs. “Most of what we do has a limited appeal anyway! It’s just a real mix of different styles that I like. There are no singles or ‘hits’. Instead, it all just flows along one thing into the next.

Image
The results are in on the 2024 Razzie Awards, and it was a very big (but not necessarily great) night for one movie and one actress this year.

The annual awards show, which took place one day before the 2024 Oscars on Saturday (March 9), hands out awards to performers and movies that have been deemed the “worst.”

Going into the ceremony, Expend4bles led the pack of nominees with 7 nods in categories such as Worst Picture and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off of Sequel.

However, when it came time for the awards to be handed out, another movie swept the field, picking up five Razzies. One actress also won big, being named Worst Actress and Worst Supporting Actress.

However, one Hollywood icon received redemption this year!

‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’ Sweeps Five Categories At Razzies, Including Worst Picture
Image
Slasher film Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey swept the five categories it was nominated in for at the 44th annual Razzies, which “honor” the worst of filmmaking. The awards were announced today.

‘Winnie the Pooh’ won the Razzie in the picture, director, screenplay, screen couple and remake/rip-off/sequel categories. The film, based on the beloved children’s literary character, follows Pooh and Piglet, who have become feral and bloodthirsty murderers. They terrorize a group of young university women and the returning Christopher Robin.

The Razzie Redeemer Award, bestowed on a past contender who has “gone on to better things” since being nominated for a Razzie, went to “The Nanny” actor and SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher for her leadership during the 2023 actor strike.

Drescher was nominated in 1998 for worst actress in the romantic comedy film The Beautician and the Beast.
