Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 10
Three different philosophies are all battling for control on Snowpiercer. Wilford and his hardcore supporters (and people too afraid to cross him) are in the middle, ready to take advantage of any openings. Melanie and her supporters are preparing to keep the train moving along the tracks in the hopes that the future will be brighter (and less of a risky trip). Finally, there’s Layton and his New Eden truthers, who are willing to risk things now in the hopes of more immediate returns on their gamble. It’s headed for war, with a lot of innocent people, like Roche’s brakemen and the Second Class passengers who make things work, trapped in the middle.
It seems as though there are a lot of people caught in the middle. Layton sold everyone a bill of goods after a fashion; he said...

“Snowpiercer” is changing showrunners going into the show’s fourth season.
Paul Zbyszewski — whose past credits include “Lost,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” and “Helstrom” — will take the reins of the TNT series from Graeme Manson. Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 1
One of the strongest features of Snowpiercer is the show’s ability to figure out ways to create claustrophobia. Granted, that’s easy on a train; it’s not exactly the sort of environment in which you can spread out and social distance from your neighbors. On the last train, however, that situation is even more dire, especially if you’re in third class or stuck in the tail. The people on board Snowpiercer toil away elbow to elbow with their fellows, making clothes, breaking up ice, cooking and growing food, even entertaining in the club car. There’s not a space to be alone, unless you’re the leader of the anti-Wilford resistance, and that means you’re alone in a room the size and temperature of a meat locker.

TNT’s postapocalyptic sci-fi drama Snowpiercer has extended its streak of early renewals with a Season 4 pickup.
All have come ahead of the premiere the previous season; Season 4 marks the earliest renewal, which is done as Season 3 wraps up filming. (I hear the pickup decision was quietly made last month but made official now.) Star Daveed Diggs made the renewal announcement on the set of the show at the tail end of production — you can see it below.
Produced by Tomorrow Studios, Snowpiercer Seasons 1 and 2 are available on the TNT app, with Season 3 set to premiere on TNT early next year. With Animal Kingdom and Claws coming to an end, Snowpiercer is the only remaining ongoing scripted series on the Turner network.
Snowpiercer premiered as the No 1 new scripted drama on all of ad-supported cable in 2020. The second season reached 21 million viewers across linear and digital in L+7 viewing, ranking as a Top 5 cable drama.

Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 10
For the fifth time in the history of the show, the titular train of Snowpiercer finds itself under new ownership. Wilford built the thing, and then Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) stole it. She ran it successfully for 7 years, until it was taken over by Layton (Daveed Diggs). Layton’s tenure was not nearly as successful, because a returning Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) hooked up to the tail end of Snowpiercer and took the thing back over, sending Layton and Ruth (Alison Wright) to the compost heap for their troubles. Nevertheless, where there’s a will, there’s a way, and the one thing you can say about Andre Layton is that he doesn’t give up very easily, and he is very willing to get his poop-covered hands even dirtier during violence. And much like last time, he has help up train, and more of it.

Snowpiercer Episode 9
As a series, Snowpiercer has done a great job of respecting the power of a ticking clock. A lot of the actions that Layton and company have taken have been timed, measured, and planned out to the most careful of degrees to take advantage of something on the train, from a shift change to doors opening for lunch service, and that necessary clock-watching serves “The Train Demanded Blood” well during its tense, world-changing climax. The characters are acutely aware of the passage of time, of the ticking clock, of their opportunities slowly but surely drifting down the track like an uncoupled train car, and that awareness filters down to the home viewer, who is also hanging on every glance at the watch done by Layton, Melanie, Bennett, or anyone else involved in the grand plot to wrest control of the train from the Folgers.

Snowpiercer Episode 6
A broken window is, normally, an inconvenience. The rain might get in, or bugs, but a little duct tape and a piece of cardboard or plastic wrap and the window is whole enough to serve its purpose until it can be replaced. A broken window on Snowpiercer wiped out an entire species. A bullet hole in some sort of fluid tank created a drip. The drip trickled down into an electrical conduit. The electrical conduit fried. The resulting cascading failure is enough to create a drastic problem on board the 1,001-car train that will require immediate maintenance. Routine enough, until something else goes wrong, and what starts out as simply a locked-out brake puts Wilford Industries’ super train, and the human race, on the siding towards extinction.
Given the short margins on which Snowpiercer operates, the planned work stoppage by Third Class passengers...

Orphan Black, Ep. 3.06, “Certain Agony of the Battlefield” strengthens season three’s return to form
Orphan Black, Season 3, Episode 6, “Certain Agony of the Battlefield”
Written by Aubrey Nealon
Directed by Helen Shaver
Airs Saturdays at 9pm (Et) on BBC America
Given the inconsistency of Orphan Black season three, it was easy to fear last week’s moving installment would be a blip in an otherwise unremarkable season. Thankfully, “Certain Agony of the Battlefield” builds on the strengths of its predecessor, continuing its character-based approach and efforts to tie as many threads as possible into the central narrative of the season, Project Castor’s conflict with Sarah and the rest of Clone Club.
Paul has been a problem character for much of the run of Orphan Black. The creative team are clearly fond of the character, bringing him back time and again when he could have easily been written out, but few of his character pivots have worked. He was Beth’s boyfriend, then her uninformed monitor,...

Warning: The following story contains major spoilers from this week’s episode of Orphan Black. Proceed at your own peril.
Orphan Black engineered another dramatic character transformation in Saturday’s episode, but this one will have few fans applauding: Hot Paul is now… Dead Paul.

After helping Sarah escape — and confessing his feelings to her — the wounded military man (played by Dylan Bruce) stayed behind on Project Castor grounds and was shot multiple times by Dr. Cody, who has been using the male clones’ sexually transmitted defect to sterilize women.

Orphan Black, Season 3, Episode 2, “Transitory Sacrifices of Crisis”
Written by Aubrey Nealon
Directed by John Fawcett
Airs Saturdays at 9pm (Et) on BBC America
After the underwhelming season three premiere, “Transitory Sacrifices of Crisis” is encouraging, moving what appears to be the crucial arc for the season, the introduction of Project Castor and the CastorClones, towards more interesting territory. While the two main CastorClones featured this week remain Bad Moustache Clone and Fauxhawk Clone, they’re given names and briefly, motivation. Seth (Bmc) is sick, a short circuit in his brain causing searing pain and Rudy (Fc) is protective of his brother, certain Seth will be put down if they return to base as they’ve been ordered. It’s not much, but this is far more characterization than Ari Millen has been given to work with either last season or in the season three premiere (aside from Creepy Cult Clone,...

Orphan Black, Season 2, Episode 7, “Knowledge of Causes, and Secret Motion of Things”
Written by Aubrey Nealon

Airs Saturdays at 9pm Est on Bbca
This week, on Orphan Black: Sarah is terrible at roleplay, Kira is proactive, and Vic is molested by elves
Well then. Looks like the writers shared this critic’s concerns about Leekie as a viable villain. This week’s Pulp Fiction-inspired conclusion may be a bit pat and predictable, but it resolves the show’s Leekie problem while moving Donnie in a new and promising direction (and making fabulous use of “Love Is All Around”). Alison’s relationship with her monitor husband has been a confusing blind spot for the show for most of its run—do they care for each other or has Donnie been playing Alison from the start? The show has tried to have it both ways and...

NEW YORK -- Film Movement has picked up all U.S. rights to Aubrey Nealon's Canadian family drama A Simple Curve, which recently nabbed best writer-director honors at the Nantucket Film Festival. Curve revolves around twentysomething Caleb (Kris Lemche), who shares a small carpentry shop with his bohemian father Jim (Michael Hogan) in a small British Columbia town but has very different ideas about how to make their business succeed. When Caleb's longtime friend Matthew (Matt Craven) returns to open an upscale fishing lodge, it makes tension between the father and son reach a boiling point.
