Lily James takes the lead in the reboot of the 1993 action thriller Cliffhanger directed by Renny Harlin and starring Sylvester Stallone. Rocket Science released the first two photos from the new version, which is currently in filming in Austria’s East Tyrol region of the Lienz Dolomites.

In addition to Lily James (Pam & Tommy), the thriller stars Pierce Brosnan, Nell Tiger Free, Franz Rogowski, Shubham Saraf, Assaad Bouab, Suzy Bemba, and Bruno Gouery. Jaume Collet-Serra directs, based on a story by Ana Lily Amirpour.

“In this reboot of Cliffhanger, seasoned mountaineer Ray Cooper (Brosnan) and his daughter Sydney run a mountain chalet in the Dolomites. During a weekend trip with a billionaire’s son, they are targeted by a gang of kidnappers,” reads the official synopsis. “Ray’s older daughter Naomi (James), still haunted by a past climbing accident, witnesses the attack and escapes.

A “Cliffhanger” follow-up keeps on rolling. But now in a much different configuration.

Rocket Science in partnership with Thank You Pictures and Supernix has announced that filming is underway on “Cliffhanger,” a reboot of the 1993 action extravaganza that starred Sylvester Stallone and John Lithgow. This new version stars Lily James and Pierce Brosnan and is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, based on a story by Ana Lily Amirpour.

A proposed follow-up to “Cliffhanger” dates back to 1994, when TriStar announced “Cliffhanger 2: The Dam,” with Stallone returning. For years it sat fallow until 2019, when Amirpour was hired and Jason Momoa was earmarked to star. In 2023 it was re-announced as a legacy sequel, with Stallone set to return under the direction of Ric Roman Waugh. Mark Bianculli wrote that version of the script. Later in 2023, Jean-François Richet was hired to replace Waugh.

Lily James and Pierce Brosnan are set to star in a new reimagining of the classic action pic Cliffhanger with Jaume Collet-Serra directing. The project is a Rocket Science production in partnership with Thank You Pictures and Supernix.

The original film starred Sylvester Stallone with Renny Harlin directing. James and Gala Gordon’s Parodos banner is also produing in association with Rocket Science as well.

“The process of shooting Cliffhanger has been exhilarating. I love stepping into the shoes, and learning from the climbing community. Jaume is a force. We have a fearless cast and crew who have been unparalleled in their passion and dedication,” James said.

A reboot of Sylvester Stallone’s action classic “Cliffhanger” is currently in production, but the film will look a lot different from the package initially announced nearly 18 months ago.

Stallone will no longer star in the update meant to be directed by Ric Roman Waugh (“Greenland”) from a script by Mark Bianculli (“Hunters”). A creative overhaul has meant that actor Lily James will take on the lead role. Pierce Brosnan will co-star and Jaume Collet-Serra will direct. The project hails from Rocket Science in partnership with Thank You Pictures and Supernix.

Filming is underway in Austria with a buzzy supporting cast, including: Nell Tiger Free, festival darling Franz Rogowski (“Passages”), Shubham Saraf (“Shantaram”), Assaad Bouab (“Franklin”), Suzy Bemba (“Poor Things”) and Bruno Gouery, a breakout star of the Netflix hit “Emily in Paris.”

Brandon Lee’s The Crow soundtrack consisted of a bunch of iconic songs. It was executive produced by Jeff Most, the film’s producer, and Jolene Cherry, the film’s music supervisor. Most insisted that they wanted to create a soundtrack out of original songs and covers, that wasn’t available anywhere else. It was a challenging task at the time when films used established hit songs to make sure that the album would sell.

It was a difficult mission at the time but they managed to convince hard rock and heavy metal bands like Rage Against the Machine, Rollins Band, and Pantera, to create music for the film. The soundtrack had to undergo a few changes after Brandon Lee’s tragic accidental death. Jeff Most later regretted removing one song from the soundtrack during this time.

The Crow: Salvation is the third instalment in the franchise that began with the iconic 1994 film The Crow, recently released on 4K Uhd, starring Brandon Lee. Directed by Bharat Nalluri, The Crow: Salvation attempts to recapture the dark, gothic allure that made the original a cult classic but falls short in several areas when compared to its predecessors.

The film follows Alex Corvis (Eric Mabius), who is wrongly executed for the murder of his girlfriend, Lauren (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe). After being resurrected by the mystical crow, Alex seeks to uncover the conspiracy behind Lauren’s death and his own wrongful conviction. Unlike the vengeful rock musician Eric Draven from the original film, Alex is a more subdued character.

Production is underway on horror-thriller film “Borderline,” shot in the U.K. and Malta.

Lucien Laviscount (“Emily in Paris”), Laura Marano (“The Royal Treatment”) and Middle Eastern star Cynthia Khalifeh (“8 Days”) lead a cast that also includes Jason Flemyng (“A Violent Man”).

Khalifeh will play Zena, a young woman who arrives at the Borderline pub for a date with the handsome Jack, whom she met on an app. Quickly realizing she has been stood up, Zena is persuaded to have a drink with the bumbling but charming local Paul, played by Laviscount. However, Paul’s non-threatening manner and easy conversation skills are merely a façade, and he is in fact a serial killer, who lures his victims inside the lawless walls of the Borderline.

The Guyver will merge onto 4K Uhd + Blu-ray + CD on May 21 via Unearthed Films. Based on the Japanese manga series of the same name, the 1991 sci-fi superhero film has been newly restored in 4K from the original, R-rated 35mm camera negative.

Based on the comic book series created by James O’Barr, the first version of The Crow was released in 1994 and told the tragic story of goth rocker Eric Draven and the love of his life, Shelly Webster. Later this year, we’ll be getting a remake of The Crow, with the story of Eric and Shelly being told all over again. It seems kind of strange to do a remake and revisit characters in a franchise that lends itself to the anthology format, where each film can be focused on a different vengeful, undead person… but it does make business sense, because The Crow remake is getting more attention than the three Crow sequels ever got. But those Crow sequels do have their fans, and Scream Factory is about to celebrate one of them – The Crow: Salvation from 2000 – with a limited edition Blu-ray release on March 26th.

A new 4K Blu-ray release for cult classic The Crow will include fresh bonus content and a documentary for fans. Cinematographer Dariusz Wolski oversaw restoration for the 1994 film, with new features and unseen footage. An upcoming reboot film directed by Rupert Sanders and featuring Bill Skarsgård as Eric Draven is scheduled for release in 2024.

The Brandon Lee-led cult classic The Crow is getting a brand-new celebratory re-release just in time for its 30th anniversary. Paramount Home Media Distribution has scheduled a 4K Ultra HD release of the 1994 classic for May 7.

Released on May 13, 1994, the supernatural superhero film starred Brandon Lee as guitarist Eric Draven, who is brutally killed, alongside his fiancée, by members of a violent gang. Draven rises from the grave a year after their death and assumes the gothic mantle of the Crow, a supernatural avenger bent on tracking down and killing those responsible for the crimes.

We recently heard that Lionsgate has picked up the distribution rights to the reboot of the classic film The Crow (get it Here), which was released by Miramax back in 1994. Before Miramax acquired it, The Crow had originally been set up at Paramount. They decided to let go of it due to the controversy surrounding the on-set death of star Brandon Lee and the amount of violence in the film. So when Paramount acquired Miramax back in 2020, gaining the rights to The Crow in the process, it was like the film had gone full circle. It came back to Paramount. Recently, cinematographer Dariusz Wolski, mentioned a 4K restoration of The Crow would be on the Paramount Plus streaming service soon. While it hasn’t hit streaming yet, Blu-Ray.com announced that the 4K Blu-ray is set to come out on May 7th to mark the film’s 30th anniversary.

Peter Webber has signed on to direct the wartime thriller “Irena Sendler.” It tells the true story of Irena Sendler, a Polish social worker who defied the Nazis and organized a team of young women to smuggle 2,500 Jewish children out of the Warsaw Ghetto during the Holocaust. Casting is currently underway and production is expected to start in Poland later this year or early in 2024.

The script was penned by Agatha Dominik, Brian Pittman & Rachel Long, Stuart Hazeldine, and Jeff Most. The film will be produced by Most (“The Crow”), BAFTA Award winning and Academy Award winning producer Ewa Puszczyńska, Jeff Rice, Armory Films’ Christopher Lemole and Tim Zajaros, and Golden Globe winning producer Gareth Wiley of Phoenix Wiley.

The Brendan Fraser series Professionals is not moving forward at The CW. The series, which premiered season 1 in 2022, was created by Michael Colleary and Jeff Most. A spinoff of the movie Soldiers of Fortune, it followed a former counterintelligence officer who is called in to help a scientist couple following the destruction of their medical satellite. In addition to Fraser, the series starred Elena Anaya, Ken Duken, Lisa Loven Kongsli, and Smallville's Tom Welling.

Per TVLine, Professionals has officially joined the roster of recently canceled CW series. Jeff Most promises that the team is "shopping the second season" elsewhere. However, even if the show does return, it was never part of the plan for Fraser to reprise his role in season 2, though other cast members could return. Read Most's statement below:

Professionals, like many a onetime show on The CW, isn’t part of the new ownership’s game plan. But the action-drama might still have “one in the chamber,” as they say.

“The CW hasn’t renewed us for a second season,” Professionals co-creator Jeff Most, of Jeff Most Productions, informs TVLine. “However, we are shopping the second season of Professionals to other networks and streaming platforms.”

Rainmaker Content has picked up worldwide distribution rights from German studio Leonine for Brendan Fraser-starring action series “Professionals.” The project, which was completed during the global pandemic, will be shopped to buyers at next month’s virtual Mipcom market.

Commissioned by Nordic Entertainment Group (Nent Group) for streamer Viaplay, the cast includes Fraser (“Trust”), Tom Welling (“Smallville”), Elena Anaya (“Wonder Woman”), Saïd Taghmaoui (“John Wick 3”), Ken Duken (“Inglorious Basterd”), Lisa Loven Kongsli (“Force Majeure”) and August Wittgenstein (“The Crown”).

The 10-part series stars Welling as hardened former counterintelligence officer Captain Vincent Corbo, who is hired by billionaire futurist Peter Swann (Fraser) and his fiancée, medical visionary Dr. Graciela “Grace” Davila (Anaya), to investigate the explosion of an advanced medical satellite. What Corbo and his team discover, however, is that a combination of Swann’s business rivals, corrupt government officials and a shadowy crime syndicate could be behind the attack.

Most along with Jeff Rice obtained Sendler’s authorized biography and life rights, including access to unpublished details about her life, as well as securing her blessing to tell her story prior to her passing in 2008. Ingenious Media arranged the funding for the development of the script.

Armory Films’ Christopher Lemole and Tim Zajaros tell Deadline, “What Irena and her courageous group of women were able to accomplish is miraculous. It’s remarkable that so few people know about her incredible story. We couldn’t be more excited to have Stuart on board to direct this incredible script and tell the world the story of the inspirational hero Irena Sendler.”

After the initial excitement following the massive success of Tim Burton’s Batman in 1989, that series had taken a darker turn with 1992’s Batman Returns, and the corresponding dip in box office had Warner Bros. Pictures preparing a far more kid-friendly and garish Batman Forever for 1995.

The Superman franchise had died a more gruesome death than even Doomsday itself could bestow with 1987’s Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, and as a result Krypton's last son lay dormant in re-development hell. As for iconic publishers like Marvel…let’s just say that the bargain-basement Captain America (1990) and the TV quickie...

The Crow is one of our favorite comic book movies of all time. A gritty supernatural revenge fantasy that takes place in Detroit on the night before Halloween, aka Devil's Night, the dark romance and gothic overtones were part of the magic, conjured most profoundly by the late Brandon Lee, who died during the production. About a year ago it was announced that director Rob Cohen would be helming an adaptation of the comic book series Razor, which was created by Everett Hartsoe. Deadline is reporting that Emma Dumont, who stars in the X-Men series The Gifted, has been cast in the lead role.

Dumont will star as Nicole Mitchell, a young woman who, as a ten-year-old, witnesses her cop father’s murder by a gang of upwardly mobile crime figures who seek to thwart his investigation into their nefarious activities. The trauma lands her in a sanitarium for a decade in which time she develops a complex plan of revenge on the murderers.In the comics, Nicole, in an effort to rid the evil in Chinatown, becomes the superheroine Razor, characterized by her suit which is equipped with razors on her arms.

We have so many comic book movies nowadays and they are all trying to make something that does something different. It seems like it's almost impossible. But nevertheless, Rob Cohen who has brought us some of the best mindless action films of all time including xXx and The Fast and the Furious, has decided to do just that.

Cohen is going to direct a film version of the comic Razor. Razor is a very punk S&M looking heroine with 80's hair and makeup and who doesn't feel pain. Cohen also wrote the screenplay based on writer Everette Hartsoe's comic. And just in case you want even more Cohen, he also is a producer alongside Jeff Most.

What interests me the most about this comic isn't necessarily the character or the story, but rather it's conception. Hartsoe wrote this book to mourn his sister's death who was murdered when he was 15 years old.

The live action adaptation of the comic book series Razor has been picked up by Number 11 Films and Lotus Entertainment. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Razor will be directed by Rob Cohen (Fast and the Furious, XXX) who also wrote the screenplay. Razor, aka Nicole Mitchell, was introduced in October of 1992 in Razor #1, which was written and created by Everett Hartsoe with a $1,200 tax return. The cult favorite was originally considered to be part of the "bad girl" genre of comics that cropped up in the 1990s.

Cohen has shared his excitement for the upcoming movie with an official statement, talking about why he chose to take the Razor story on. Here's what he had to say.

Lotus Entertainment heads to the Croisette with worldwide rights to Rob Cohen comic-book adaptation Razor under a new deal with Number 11 Films.

Cohen, whose credits include XXX and The Fast And The Furious, wrote the screenplay and is producing the project with The Crow producer Jeff Most of Most Films

Number 11 Films is fully financing Razor, the first feature to go under a sales and financing pact with Bill Johnson and Jim Seibel’s Lotus Entertainment.

The partnership will aim to produce and finance three to four films a year budgeted in the $5m-$40m range.

Razor is based on Everette Hartsoe’s comic-book series about an avenging heroine who battles the man who destroyed her family.

With Luke Evans having walked the other month, Relativity Studios is now said to be targeting Jack Huston ("Boardwalk Empire") to play the lead character in the upcoming remake of "The Crow".

Huston, who recently scored the title role in the "Ben-Hur" remake, is in early talks to join the Corin Hardy-directed new version of "The Crow" which is expected to be a more faithful adaptation of the James O'Barr graphic novel about a murdered man who comes back for revenge.

Brandon Lee starred in Alex Proyas' 1994 film with various other actors taking on the role in assorted sequels. The Cliff Dorfman-scripted reboot is aiming to begin production this spring.

Edward R. Pressman, Kevin Misher, Ryan Kavanaugh, Jeff Most and Jeff Waxman will produce.

The incredibly prolific Michael Winterbottom had two 2014 titles, so we’re sure to see this latest project materialize before the end of the year, though major cast has not yet been announced since the news broke during the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. While The Trip to Italy was a light piece of entertainment, Winterbottom’s other 2014 title, The Face of an Angel, which played Venice and Toronto wasn’t as well received, even though it was a compelling take on how we adapt true crime stories to film. This latest, The Vatican Connection, seems to be in that vein, based on the real-life story of the NYPD detective who first uncovered the Vatican Bank’s links to the Mafia in the 1970s.

The rebooted version of 1994 comic book classic, The Crow, has found a new director. The previously-attached F. Javier Gutiérrez has bowed out, and relative newcomer Corin Hardy will take the reins on the gothic revenge actioner.

Per Deadline, Hardy’s name was suggested to Edward R. Pressman – who produced the original and is tackling the same role for the remake – by none other than Edgar Wright. A self-confessed fanboy, Wright was impressed by Hardy’s first short, Butterfly, and the edgy music videos he crafted for Ed Sheeran, Biffy Clyro, Keane, Paolo Nutini and The Prodigy, and recommended him for the gig. Hardy’s feature debut, The Hallow, traces the story of family who move to the rural confines of countryside and wind up fighting a load of creatures in the woods. It’s yet to be released, but will hopefully land a date for 2015.

Underworld: the Awakening actress India Eisley is in final talks to star in indie The Curse of Sleeping Beauty. The film is based on the Brothers Grimm classic, but has a dark, modern twist. Michael Winterbottom is to direct The Vatican Connection about the real-life story of the NYPD detective who first uncovered the Vatican Bank’s links to the Mafia in the 1970s.

Detective Joe Coffey was working undercover in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, tailing a vicious local mobster, when he stumbled upon information linking the Vatican Bank and the Mafia.

His global investigation – taking him from New York to Munich, London and Rome - revealed that Vatican Bank president Archbishop Paul Marcinkus, was working with the Mafia to hide losses incurred by the institution as it financed anti-Communist missions in central America.

Through intermediaries Archbishop Marcinkus had the Genovese Crime Family of New York manufacture and supply the Vatican Bank with $6 billion dollars of counterfeit blue chip bonds from major Us corporations.

We don't know much about Relativity's upcoming Crow reboot, a project that has already been plagued by legal issues and negative screenplay reactions. All we know for sure is that Luke Evans will take flight as the titular vengeance-seeker, and director F. Javier Gutierrez is looking to stay very faithful to the original comics.

All sounds good to me so far, and this latest rumor sounds even better.

According to the website Schmoes Know, "Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus is being eyed to play a character named James. According to their sources, he is the top choice to play the character, though we have no way of knowing just who this James fellow is. Perhaps one of the bad guys that Draven goes after? Now that I'd like to see!

The Crow producer Jeff Most has filed a $1 million lawsuit against makers of the new film.

He has claimed that Edward R Pressman Film Corp, Relativity Media, Sammyjack Productions and others are in breach of his contract after cutting him out of the planned Crow reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Most served as producer on the four film adaptations of James O'Barr's graphic novel and the Crow television series.

According to the suit, The Weinstein Company filed a suit against Relativity in 2011 over the fifth Crow film, claiming that it held the distribution rights.

The companies settled out of court in January 2012 in an agreement that meant they would work on the new Crow movie together.

Luke Evans is set to star in the F Javier Gutierrez-directed film.

Gutierrez and O'Barr will be promoting The Crow at San Diego Comic-Con International this weekend.

For a while it sounded as if The Crow redux was in for some smooth sailing, but alas... someone has gotten their feathers ruffled again.

According to Deadline there’s yet another legal action circling the franchise: Jeff Most — a producer on the original 1994 film and its sequels, who had been working on the new one — is suing Ryan Kavanaugh‘s company and fellow producer Edward R. Pressman. The lengthy complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court alleges breach of contract and good faith, fraud, deceit and contractual interference. It seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages and legal fees.

The film is being produced by Ed Pressman, Kevin Misher, Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh, and Jeff Most. Exec producers include Relativity’s president Tucker Tooley, The Weinstein Co.’s Harvey and Bob Weinstein, and Farah Films’ Dan Farah.

Finally some good news has flown in for Relativity Media's redux of the classic tale of ghostly revenge known as The Crow! Creator James O'Barr has signed on to the project, which is heading to Comic-Con!

Variety reports that O’Barr, creator of the original graphic novel, has come on board as a consultant on the upcoming reboot of the film. Luke Evans is starring with F. Javier Gutierrez directing the adaptation written by Cliff Dorfman. Shooting is set to begin in early 2014.

Relativity also announced that O’Barr and Gutierrez are scheduled to appear at Comic-Con in San Diego to discuss the film and meet with fans.
