Exclusive: Lena Góra has joined the cast of the four-hour TNT miniseries Debriefing The President as the co-lead opposite Joel Kinnaman. She has taken on the role of Polly Stevens, the female lead on the project currently shooting in Cairo, sources tell Deadline.

Polly is a colleague of Kinnaman’s real-life CIA analyst John Nixon, whose book of the same name inspired the series. Rhona Mitra was originally attached to play Polly, but has since departed the series for unknown reasons.

For starters, Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired Red Sonja, a new feature film adaptation of the comic books. A theatrical release is being planned here in the U.S. later this year.

The Red Sonja reboot has secured a distributor with a release window confirmed. That's great news for fans of the comics and sword-and-sandal films.

Signature Entertainment acquired the rights to release the Red Sonja reboot in the UK and Ireland. Per Deadline, the film will premiere in late 2025 after spending two years in post-production. "Red Sonja epitomizes the kind of film we're looking for at Signature – an epic story in a fantasy-laden world with a strong commercial feel to its execution, which made it immediately appealing to us," Signature Entertainment's Acquisitions Manager Begüm Kayacan Parodi said. "We're looking forward to introducing UK and Irish audiences to Matilda Lutz's sword-swinging huntress later this year." Production company Millennium Media is still looking for a distributor for Red Sonja in international markets.

Earlier this week, we caught up with action icon Rhona Mitra to discuss her role in XYZ Films' Hounds of War. She's been tapped to play an unnamed character in the new Red Sonja and we asked what she could tease about the project.

Subservience is a sci-fi thriller film with a tinge of eroticism directed by S.K. Dale from a screenplay co-written by Will Honley and April Maguire. The Megan Fox film follows the story of Nick, a struggling father who buys a lifelike AI android named Alice to help with the housework after his wife gets sick but he soon begins to realize Alice is becoming self-aware and a danger for his family. A reboot of Red Sonja spent nearly fifteen years in development hell before going into production in 2022 with director M.J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) at the helm. Before Bassett signed on, the project had passed through the hands of directors Robert Rodriguez, Simon West, Bryan Singer, and Joey Soloway, with Hannah John-Kamen, Rose McGowan, and Amber Heard being considered for the lead role. Matilda Lutz ended up starring in the film, and while we still don’t know when we’ll get to see her version of the title character in action, a set pic has just arrived online to give us a look at a blood spattered Lutz wearing a version of the character’s iconic bikini armor. Rebel Ridge is a crime action thriller film written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier. The Netflix film is set in the town of Shelby Springs and it follows the story of Terry Richmond, a former marine as he comes to town to post bail for his cousin but when his savings are unlawfully taken by corrupt local police officers led by Chief Sandy Burnne, he decides to fight against the ones spreading corruption. "Why are you here?" "Revenge." What a line. XYZ Films has revealed an official trailer for an action movie called Hounds of War, a new movie from the action director Isaac Florentine. This one will be released on VOD directly starting in September. Hounds of War about the best military mercenaries money can buy. Known as "The Hounds", they are sent on a final mission by their creator: a carefully planned trap set up to destroy them. So another "trap" movie to play against M. Night Shyamalan's Trap? Sure why not. Hounds of War stars Rhona Mitra, Robert Patrick, and Frank Grillo, with Steven Elder, Yvonne Mai, Joey Ansah, Lee Charles, and Mark Strange. Looks like it was filmed mostly on Malta, which is an infamous tax haven and a nice place to save money making a movie, even though it's not the most exciting place to shoot something this generic & derivative.

It's never a bad time to sit down and check out an action-thriller movie, which is why we're super excited for the upcoming Hounds of War. The movie features Frank Grillo (The Purge franchise), Rhona Mitra (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans), and Robert Patrick (Reacher), and centers around a group of former military officers turned mercenaries that embark on the mission of their lives they just don't know it yet. To get audiences even more hyped up, Collider has teamed with XYZ Films to unveil the exclusive poster for the movie along with its release date: it will premiere on Digital on September 20.

One of Mark Wahlberg's most thrilling movies that didn't quite hit the mark with critics is finding success on a new streaming platform. Shooter, the 2007 one-person army psychological thriller movie starring Wahlberg, Michael Pea, Rhona Mitra, Danny Glover, and Tate Donovan has snuck into the top five on Paramount+ and sits securely at #5. The movie comes from director Antoine Fuqua, who is best known for his work directing The Equalizer movies and also Emancipation, starring Will Smith. The script for Shooter was penned by Jonathan Lemkin, whose only writing credit in the 17 years since came from penning one episode of the Shooter spin-off series of the same name starring Ryan Phillippe and Shantel VanSanten.
