Who would have thought that it would come down to Nicolas Cage and his live-action version of Spider-Man Noir to save Sony’s Spider-Man Universe? While every other film from Sony has flopped (with the exception of the Spider-Verse films), fans are looking forward to the upcoming MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video series focused on Ben Reilly. Yes, Cage is suiting up in a trench coat, glowing eyes, and some serious 1930s sass in Spider-Noir, a new live-action series focused on the character, and Amazon just dropped the first teaser and images. Set for release in 2026, Spider-Noir isn’t just some half-baked spin-off. It’s being developed by Into the Spider-Verse legends Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, along with Amy Pascal. That alone should calm your inner comic book gatekeeper. And if that doesn’t, the first footage definitely will. Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Amazon’s official description sets...

Wherever he goes the wind follows. And the wind? It smells like rain. It just one many classic lines from Cage’s hard-edged 1930s take on the wall crawler that proved to be so popular with fans, a live action series was eventually announced which is due next year.
And now we have a first look at Cage’s turn as Spider-Man Noir, in the show Spider-Noir.
This is the first time Nicolas Cage is portraying the character in live-action and, from the looks of it, the team behind the series have done an admirable job porting the animated character into three dimensions.

Spider-Man is one of the most popular Marvel superheroes ever created, which means he's had no shortage of adaptations over the course of the years. However, there will be no better time to be a fan of the web-slinger than 2026. Next year will see the release of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday (in which we hope Peter Parker appears), and, of course, the first-ever live-action Spider-Man Noir adaptation.
Nicholas Cage will portray a darker and more violent version of Peter Parker who isn't afraid to use guns in the MGM+ and Amazon Prime series. Expectation was already at an all-time high given that the beloved actor did a flawless job voicing Spider-Man Noir in the Spider-Verse saga. Many of us thought that Ryan Gosling had reached his peak heartthrob era in 2004, as Noah in The Notebook. But we couldn’t be more wrong. Exclusive: We can tell you first that Amazon MGM Studios’ action comedy Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie is moving baa, err, back from Feb 20 next year to the Nov. 13, 2026 slot. Amazon MGM Studios has been in that pre-Thanksgiving corridor before with last year’s Dwayne Johnson-Chris Evans’ Santa Claus movie Red One. The reason behind the shift I hear is to pull in more families.
Currently, there’s only an untitled Universal movie on the pic’s new date.
The Kyle Balda directed, Craig Mazin written Working Title and Three Strange Angels production follows George Hardy (Hugh Jackman), a shepherd who loves his sheep and raises them only for their wool. Every night he reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand, but never suspecting that not only can they understand but they argue for hours afterwards about whodunnit. Ryan Gosling is calling on Anakin Skywalker for assistance. Gosling, who is set to lead “Star Wars” franchise installment “Star Wars: Starfighter,” had dinner with iconic star Hayden Christensen, who famously played the young Darth Vader in the prequel films (he later reprised the role for series “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Ahsoka.”)
Christensen told Et while at “Star Wars” Celebration in Tokyo that Gosling is an “awesome” actor who would fit into the franchise well. “I don’t think he needs any advice. Channing Tatum, a natural athlete who found that college was not to his liking, moved to Tampa in his teens to work construction and found an outside gig as a male stripper at night. To Tatum's credit, he never denied his stripping gig but instead turned it into artistic gold (years after he became an actor) with a hit franchise you may have heard about: "Magic Mike" (2012), "Magic Mike Xxl" (2015) and "Magic Mike's Last Dance" (2023).
After being discovered by a talent scout, Tatum started his career with small movie parts until he snagged the lead in "Step Up," (2006), a successful dance/romance mash-up. Tatum's looks and athleticism, as well as his dancing and acting skills attracted casting directors, who began to place him in bigger and bigger films.

With Tatum's skills, that led to films with better and better directors, a list that any actor would envy -- Michael Mann...

Tom Cruise’s longest-running role on the big screen is playing Ethan Hunt, a rogue spy who works for a shadowy government agency. His character has more in common with CinemaCon than might meet the eye. For decades, rival studios have used the Las Vegas convention of theater owners to see what the competition has coming down the pike. Executives and their minions aren’t barred from attending each other’s studio presentations. They slip in and out without any interference or hassle.
“It’s incredibly important,” says one veteran studio executive, who like many of his compatriots has attended the show for years. Imagine if automakers were allowed to obtain an early peek of a competitor’s line-up and even prototypes. “We are all jockeying for position,” continues the exec. “I find it very beneficial, especially as you are looking down the road. Something may come out of CinemaCon...

The final film in Sony Animation‘s Spider-Verse trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is swinging into production. Franchise vets Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson will direct the highly anticipated threequel, striving for perfection after the first two films helped Spider-Verse become one of the most sought-after animated franchises ever. The last entry, Across the Spider-Verse, was released in 2023, but fans have a lengthy wait for Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is slated to release on June 4, 2027. According to Deadline, while Steinfeld promotes her new film, Sinners, she spoke with MTV about the upcoming animated movie.
Steinfeld told Josh Horowitz, “We’re well into that thing.” And while the actress who’s worked with Marvel on a few occasions didn’t want to accidentally spill any details, she simply stated, “You’ve gotta trust the process.” Then, she continued, “If there’s one thing I’ve learned with that — it’s that.

With a domestic box office year now lagging behind last year’s by 6% (it was -11% as of last Sunday), the motion picture industry needed CinemaCon this week like a pop of Viagra. Here are the takeaways from Las Vegas:
There’s Still A Belief That Theatrical Can Work
We are in a massive funk no doubt at the domestic box office, with the big question is whether we’ll ever get back to 2018 levels, when it grossed $11.9 billion. However, what was clear coming away from the studio-exhibitor love-in at Caesars Palace was that the studios aren’t bailing on theatrical: they delivered the stars, they delivered stunts (we’ll get into that) with a robust lineup of product including Avatar: Fire & Ash, Superman, Jurassic World Rebirth, Ballerina, Lilo & Stich, Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning to indicate that better days are ahead. In fact, after this weekend’s $135 million+ opening...

The annual trade show hosted by Cinema United, CinemaCon is where the nation’s theater owners spend a week listening to sales pitches from Hollywood’s most important people: studio executives, Oscar-winning filmmakers, and Tom Cruise. Here are the standout moments, trailer, and highs and lows from CineamaCon 2025.
Most Important Movie
CinemaCon closed with a flourish on Thursday night, with a first look at Avatar: Fire and Ash, James Cameron’s forthcoming blockbuster. In some ways, the preview — with its exceptional visuals and pacing typical of an Avatar film — felt like a Brigadoon for the nation’s theater owners and its studio partners. This year’s CinemaCon was marked by notable unease for the motion picture industry, with sagging box office totals sparking debate about theatrical windows and the future of several studio executives uncertain. The assumption is that Cameron’s Avatar will once again swoop in to save the...

The first footage for Ryan Gosling's upcoming sci-fi thriller, Project Hail Mary, was just unveiled at this year's CinemaCon. According to the press reports, the first footage from the new movie looks epic. The new sci-fi thriller is set to be released on March 20, 2026. Sci-fi fans may be familiar with the film's title, as it is based on the eponymous novel by The Martian author, Andy Weir. Ridley Scott's adaptation of The Martian, starring Matt Damon, was a critical and commercial hit, and fans cannot wait for Weir's next science-centric, space-faring novel to be brought to the big screen.
That wait is getting smaller and smaller, as the first footage for Project Hail Mary was unveiled at CinemaCon (via The Hollywood Reporter). The movie is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who both took to the stage as part of Amazon MGM's presentation, along with the film's leading astronaut,...

CinemaCon 2025 keeps truckin’, and tonight, we have a presentation from Amazon! The studio’s been in the news lately with speculation about the future of the James Bond franchise, exciting new titles coming to Prime Video, and more. Tonight’s showcase began with a trailer for Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s Project Hail Mary, a dystopian sci-fi film starring Ryan Gosling, Milana Vayntrub, and Sandra Hüller.
Project Hail Mary is based on a book by Andy Weir, and our editor-in-chief, Chris Bumbray, says the movie looks very much like The Martian. Gosling is a high school teacher recruited on a mission to save the planet. The difference is a lot of it is him preparing for a suicide mission. The trailer includes a lot of comedy but also has a considerable scale. The footage shows Gosling on his mission alone as he grows a huge beard. The film looks...

Hugh Jackman will soon be in his shepherd era.
The multi-hyphenate’s upcoming film, Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie, got a CinemaCon reveal Wednesday night during the Amazon MGM Studios presentation inside the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Jackman and co-star Emma Thompson appeared in a video segment during the event to tease the film. “It was, as you’ll see from the clip, the most fantastic, loving, beautiful idea, this synthesis between animals and people,” she said.
Added Jackman about the film Kyle Balda directed from Craig Mazin’s script: “Craig Mazin’s wit is just second to none.”
The footage from the movie included, unsurprisingly, plenty of sheep. “The movie is a bit of a whodunit, which is always fun,” Jackman said in one behind-the-scenes clip. “The movie has such heart.”

Amazon MGM Studios started its inaugural CinemaCon presentation with a bang: the first trailer for Project Hail Mary, a new science-fiction feature from directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller with Ryan Gosling in the lead role.
The movie is based on the 2021 novel by Andy Weir (The Martian) with a script from Drew Goddard. As revealed in the trailer — and likely familiar to anyone who has read Weir’s best-selling book — Gosling stars as Ryland Grace, a schoolteacher-turned-astronaut sent on a longshot mission to save the planet as the sun begins to die. Ryland, the lone survivor of the trip, eventually comes face-to-face with an alien who similarly wants to save the universe.
The trailer, set to Harry Styles’s “Sign of the Times,” showcased Lord and Miller’s bold vision and blended science-fiction spectacle and future dread straight out of Interstellar with Ridley Scott's The Martian—not a...

Amazon MGM Studios kicked off its first CinemaCon slate with something truly big, the first look at “Project Hail Mary,” Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s sci-fi epic starring Ryan Gosling.
In the extended trailer that opened Amazon MGM’s presentation, Gosling plays a middle school teacher brought in to help stop the sun from dying, ultimately forcing him to embark on an impossible quest into deep space, farther than anyone has ever gone, in order to keep not just the Sun from dying, but also every other star in the galaxy. Suffice it to say, he’s reluctant, telling Sandra Hüller that he puts the “not in astronaut.”
The trailer has incredible outer space effects and shows him meeting an alien, who Lord described as Rocky, “the most lovable alien since E.T.”

For the last five years, a cinematic adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel Project Hail Mary has been in the works. The production has hit several roadbumps on its way from page to screen, but tonight, audiences at CinemaCon were the lucky ones to be the first to feast their eyes on footage of the Ryan Gosling (Barbie)-led film. It’s been a long road, but the dynamite team led by co-directors and producers, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, have seemingly nailed the project, which was adapted for the screen by Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer and High Potentialcreator, Drew Goddard.
Here’s what we saw.
Ryan Gosling is a brainy elementary teacher who has the answers that the professionals need in the trailer for Project Hail Mary. The government recruits the teacher to help with Project Hail Mary, as the sun — and many other stars — are beginning to die.

Ryan Gosling, looking very nerdy and quite un-Ken-like, plays a science teacher turned grudging astronaut in “Project Hail Mary,” a sci-fi adventure that Amazon MGM Studios teased during its presentation to theater owners at CinemaCon on Wednesday.
“I put the ‘not’ in astronaut,” Gosling tells the government handler (Sandra Hüller) who has tapped him to undertake a suicidal space mission. “I can’t even moonwalk.”
The film, an adaptation of Andy Weir’s best-selling novel of the same name, follows an ordinary man who is told he has what it takes to go into the outer reaches of the universe. “You have the right stuff,” Gosling tells Hüller. “I have the wrong stuff.”
He may be reluctant, but the situation is dire. A catastrophic event threatens life as he knows it. “The world is counting on you,” Hüller tells him.

It’s already been two years since Miles Morales ventured Across The Spider-Verse. And frankly, we’re still high from the dizzying animation that the filmmakers delivered on that astonishing sequel – upping the ante from 2018’s Into The Spider-Verse so much so that it was more than worth the five-year wait. Now, we have good news and… well, not exactly bad news, but news you’ll want to make peace with. The good news? We now have an official release date for the third and final entry in the trilogy, the much-anticipated Beyond The Spider-Verse. The less-good news? It’s not out until summer 2027, so we’re only halfway there.

Sony is heading back to the Spider-Verse.
During Monday’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, the studio officially announced a new release date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the final film in the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse trilogy. Sony will release the movie in theaters on June 4, 2027.

Ever since Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released, Sony has remained tight-lipped about its follow-up, other than to announce its indefinite delay. Thompson, and he explained that the film “decided to break the boundaries of animation again with the epic conclusion of Miles Morales’ story.” He also said that for the first time, it will be made specifically for large format screens, the first time Sony has done that on an animated film. Sony also showed a brief sizzle reel of some psychedelic and trippy footage.
“We needed to make sure we had the time to get it just right,” Lord said on the CinemaCon stage at Caesar’s Colosseum in Las Vegas.

Sony Marvel’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the third in their animation trilogy, is finally returning to the release date schedule. Audiences can expect the film to bow in theaters June 4, 2027.
The movie, which originally had a theatrical release date of March 29, 2024, was pushed back in July 2023 due to the strikes. This was due to a number of voiceovers being unavailable. Also, it takes a lot of work to make these stylistic, groundbreaking animated titles work. We were told at the Spider-Man: Across the Universe premiere back in June 2023 that the print on screen was literally wet having been locked just days prior.
The animated movies are massively successful: The 2018 first chapter, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse received an Animated Feature Oscar and the 2023 sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse also garnered a nod. Together, both movies have grossed $1.08 billion.

Coming up as a TV and not a movie executive finally seems to have caught up to Jennifer Salke at Amazon MGM Studios. Her inability to mesh with the gatekeepers of the James Bond movies might well have sealed her fate. While her exit from the executive suites officially is being regarded as an exit by choice into a producing deal, sources in town say it is closer to a firing.
It was evident Salke had lost luster in the executive suite when she largely was absent from the deals that brought in Amy Pascal and David Heyman as the new producers of the next iteration of James Bond films, sources said. Those deals were made by veteran Warner Bros film executive Courtenay Valenti, who came in under Salke as Head of Film, Streaming and Theatrical. I’ve heard that a condition of Pascal and Heyman signing on was that they report to Valenti,...

There's been chatter about this on social media for a few days now, but Amazon MGM Studios has just confirmed (via ActioNewz.com) that veteran producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman will oversee the next James Bond movie.
Pascal will produce the film via Pascal Pictures, and Heyman will produce via Heyday Films. It's unclear whether they'll also take charge of what's expected to be a slate of big and small screen projects revolving around 007. Either way, the next James Bond movie is now in their hands after spending decades under the control of Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
After clashing with Amazon over the iconic spy's future, they finally relinquished creative control in a deal believed to be worth as much as $1 billion.
"We are approaching every creative decision with James Bond, which Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have so masterfully steered, with the greatest sense of responsibility,...
