Spoiler alert: this article contains spoilers for seasons one and two of The Walking Dead.
Jon Bernthal is one busy man at the moment. With filming just wrapped on the forthcoming World War II action drama Fury, in which he’ll star alongside Brad Pitt under the helm of the rather fantastic David Ayer, he’s currently in multiplexes in not one, but two big movies – Grudge Match with Stallone and De Niro (due out in the UK on the 24th January) and the superb The Wolf of Wall Street, which most of us here at Den of Geek just can’t recommend enough.
Of course The Walking Dead fans will already be familiar with the calibre of his acting...

The Art Directors Guild and the Costume Designers Guild have become the latest groups to announce their nominees for 2013. They may not be considered as big or as important as the Producers Guild, the Directors Guild, or the Writers Guild, but they are still a pretty good prognosticator for who will eventually take home the Oscar in their respective categories.
The Art Directors split their categories up into Period, Fantasy, and Contemporary Films (along with various TV categories), but the main one of importance here is the Period, where we find the more fanciful, eye-catching designs. Here, we find what was mostly expected: American Hustle, The Great Gatsby, Inside Llewyn Davis, Saving Mr. Banks, and 12 Years a Slave. If I had to venture a guess, I’d say that The Great Gatsby has this one in the bag. There were those who didn’t enjoy the film (I actually found...

Rick Grimes is having yet another very bad day. Not a wake-up-from-a-coma-to-find-the-world's-been-overrun-by-zombies bad day or even a my-son-just-shot-my-wife-after-she-gave-birth-to-a-child-that-may-have-been-fathered-by-my-former-best-friend sort of day, but still pretty awful. There's dirt smeared on his face, a gash over his left eye and a soiled white bandage wrapped loosely around one hand. He's gasping for breath as he trudges up a hill outside the prison he and the band of survivors he's leading call home. He looks like he might collapse.

With "The Walking Dead" only days away from its Season 4 premiere, the AMC zombie series is getting plenty of time in the spotlight. The show is the cover story of this issue of Rolling Stone, and the magazine takes a look inside the hit show.
"A lot of people think the show is bleak and depressing, but I can see where it's going in the next 10 years, and I think about it optimistically," comics creator Robert Kirkman tells Rolling Stone. "Maybe it's going to make us better people by the end of it."
For fans who wish there had been more urban settings on "The Walking Dead," it turns out that Season 1 almost showed the fall of Atlanta. "It was going to be like 'Black Hawk Down,' following an Army Ranger unit as the city succumbs to the zombie plague," production designer Gregory Melton says. "That was thrown out due to cost.

AMC has released a new Q&A feature, this time talking with art director Doug Fick about building sets for The Walking Dead Season 3, which include the town of Woodbury and the prison:
“Q: You designed sets for The Walking Dead Seasons 1 and 2. How is Season 3 comparing?
A: Season 1 was pretty chaotic. We were working on a really large scale… Last year we were really just on the farm and in the forest, so we weren’t building a whole lot… And then this year it’s been a huge build basically. It’s a different show all together… I think this year has been the most challenging so far.
Q: What’s been the most fun?

AMC continues their “Dispatches from the Set” series of interviews with production designer Greg Melton, talking about creating a devastated highway and Hershel’s farm for the new season.
The start of the second season of The Walking Dead is less than 3 weeks away, with the 90-minute first episode premiering on October 16th.
“Q: In Season 1, you created a devastated downtown Atlanta. For Season 2, you got a stretch of devastated highway. How did they compare?
A: They were pretty similar, actually as far as getting them organized, and doing your homework and getting the blocking and positioning of things that need to happen as the scene unfolds. We got really great cooperation down here from the Georgia Department of Transportation to shut down a big four-lane highway, which was the biggest thing — we needed something major. Over the weekend, San Diego Comic-Con announced the programming schedule for Saturday and Sunday at this year's convention. Usually, Saturday is the most impressive day as it's the weekend and has the biggest amount of people coming into the area while Sunday is usually the most unexciting day as it's the final day of the event and everything is winding down. For 2011, each day is going in the opposite direction. Saturday's movie programming is very underwhelming, save for a few films like Snow White and the Huntsman and Francis Ford Coppola's Twixt, with more cool TV panels popping up than usual. Sunday is significantly better than usual, especially if you like TV, with Hall H panels on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Glee and more. Read about the highlights, with commentary and more after the jump. To be fair, most of these complaints stem from the fact that the...

AMC has been incredibly diligent in pumping up their upcoming series The Walking Dead (I initially typed in "The Walking Dad" which would likely be an less compelling series), and the latest offering on their blog is an interview with their production designer Greg Melton how explained how vital Robert Kirkman's comic book was to the production.
It's like having a storyboard of the whole production. Usually I get a storyboard of an effects sequence or an action sequence. But it's very interesting to have something from beginning to end. There are a lot of iconic images in that graphic novel that we have taken into the series. People will go, "Oh yeah that's the downtown Atlanta shot." For instance the police station in the graphic novel: One day I was driving around...
