Where to Watch ‘Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All-Star Tribute’
Image
It’s been just over a decade since the world lost the comedy legend that was Joan Rivers, so to celebrate her life, NBC is releasing “Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All-Star Tribute.”

The hour-long special will unite several comedians and actors to revisit Rivers’ legendary cabinet of jokes, and add their own spin to them. Plus, they’ll include some original material as well.

“This tribute is everything my mother would have wanted — hilarious, unfiltered and filled with people she respected (and roasted),” Melissa Rivers, Joan Rivers’ daughter, said in a statement. “And as usual, she was still the funniest person in the room. It’s incredibly moving to see so many iconic comedians come together to celebrate her legacy, especially the women whose careers she helped make possible by breaking down so many doors.”

And if you’re wondering how Joan Rivers herself would feel about the special,...

These Are the Best Joan Rivers Jokes That Celebs Retold During Tonight’s All-Star Tribute
Image
One remarkable gift Joan Rivers left behind was a voluminous repository of her jokes. She wrote more than 70,000 gags, meticulously recorded on index cards and filed away by subject. “Joan’s jokes were pure,” marveled Patton Oswalt. “They were set-up/punchline, no meandering stories, all meat, no filler.”

On tonight’s Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All-Star Tribute, the comedian’s biggest celebrity fans raided that filing cabinet to repurpose her funniest punchlines. Here are some of the best…

Patton Oswalt

“When I die, I know what they’ll say at my funeral: ‘It’s the first time a man ever approached her when she was lying down.’”

Nikki Glaser

“I took my bra off at a nude beach today and accidentally clubbed two baby seals.”

Sarah Silverman

“I knew I was unwanted when my bath toys were a toaster and a radio.”

Tracy Morgan

Comedy Stars From ‘Animal Control,’ ‘Going Dutch,’ ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ and More Bring the Laughs to Variety’s FYC TV Fest
Image
Meet the Makers: Going Dutch and Animal Control

There are plenty of similarities to be found between Fox’s two live-action comedies, Joel McHale’s “Animal Control” and Denis Leary’s “Going Dutch.” Both are single-camera workplace comedies with characters in uniform: A quirky group of animal control workers in Seattle on “Animal Control,” and a quirky group of U.S. Army soldiers stationed on a tiny Netherlands base on “Going Dutch.” Making things even more personal, McHale’s “Community” co-star Danny Pudi now stars opposite Leary on “Going Dutch.”

So how about a crossover inside the Fox comedyverse? “It makes perfect sense,” Leary said during the Variety FYC TV Fest. “The guys who are the creators of ‘Animal Control’ are guys I’ve worked with before. Great writers. And we actually discussed it at some point last year. So let’s talk Fox into it. But Fox hasn’t mentioned it.

Fox Upfront: Jamie Foxx’s Trump Impression, Brendan Fraser and Sarah Michelle Gellar’s ‘Unhinged Bears,’ and Letterman Gets Picked Up by Michael Strahan
Image
Fox Entertainment’s upfront presentation to advertisers was a star-studded affair that began with Jamie Foxx mocking Elon Musk and President Donald Trump, and ended with Joel McHale popping a bottle of champagne with a prop knife in Gordon Ramsay’s honor.

At one point in between, Tom Brady flubbed a stunt pass to Rob Gronkowski so bad, the ball landed among the Madison Avenue execs. (That was not long after Gronkowski took a shot at his and Brady’s 73-year-old former coach Bill Belichick for dating 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson.)

Held Monday at the Manhattan Center in New York, the event showcasing Fox broadcast network’s 2025-2026 schedule — as well as programming across ad-supported streamer Tubi, Fox Sports and Fox News — kicked off with some jokes from “Beat Shazam” host Foxx.

“It’s been a hectic few weeks for me,” the actor said. “But truly I wanted to be here.

'Scream' Star Jamie Kennedy Says Melissa Barrera Should Not Have Been Fired for Her Beliefs
Image
Jamie Kennedy, the star who played Randy Meeks in the Scream franchise, says that Melissa Barrera, the actor who played Sam Carpenter in 2022's Scream and Scream VI, should never have been fired during pre-production of Scream 7. Barrera was removed from her lead role in the film after she made social media posts denouncing Israel's actions in the Gaza war, and the studio backing the project decided to part ways with her.

Kennedy appeared on Fox News Digital to talk about cancel culture: "I think the whole idea, the term 'cancel'...Think how insane that term is. Like, 'Hey, you know what? We don't like what you said. Canceled.' Like, you talk about inclusive. That's like the most uninclusive thing of all time." It was there that he addressed the issue with Barrera’' removal from the upcoming horror sequel Scream 7:

"She should have never been fired.

Latest Joel McHale update could impact the Community movie on Peacock
Image
Six seasons and a movie is all us Community fans have been asking for and wanting. We've got the six seasons, though we're still eagerly waiting for the reunion film that's sure to be a hit at Peacock. Since September 2022 when news was confirmed that the Community movie was happening, we've been wondering not just when it'll be released, but when filming would actually start. Now with one of the star's current shows getting picked up, this could be bad news for the project.

Joel McHale who played Jeff Winger currently stars in the comedy series Animal Control on Fox. The third season finished airing recently, and the show has now been picked up and renewed for a season 4, per TVLine. This of course makes us happy for the actor. We love to see them all succeed! But, the renewal news does have us thinking about Community: The Movie and McHale's upcoming availability.

'100% Cancel Culture': Scream Legacy Star Condemns Melissa Barrera's Controversial Firing
Image
Though Scream 7 is closer to its anticipated release after being knee-deep into production, the fallout from the firing of Melissa Barrera still lingers over the titular slasher franchise. One of Scream's legacy stars is the latest to voice his displeasure with the handling of Barrera's exit, chalking up the decision to "100%...cancel culture."

Speaking with Fox News Digital, Kennedy expressed his anger with Barrera's 2023 firing from the Scream film series after her social media posts about the Israel-Hamas conflict. Kennedy, who portrayed Sidney Prescott's (Neve Campbell) admirer, Randy Meeks, in the first two Scream movies, echoed previous sentiments that firing Barrera from Scream 7 was a bad move, believing she was harshly judged for speaking up on a significant social issue.

“She should have never been fired. She has her beliefs, Ok? She’s allowed to have her beliefs. Other people on set have other beliefs. This is,...

Animal Control: Season Four; Joel McHale Sitcom Renewed on Fox
Frank will be back on the job for the 2025-26 TV season. Fox has renewed Animal Control for a fourth year. The sitcom's third season of 10 episodes finished airing in March.

A single-camera workplace comedy series, the Animal Control TV show stars Joel McHale, Michael Rowland, Vella Lovell, Ravi Patel, and Grace Palmer. In the story, Frank Shaw (McHale) is an opinionated, eccentric Animal Control officer. A former cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which may explain why he’s so cynical. He has an almost superhuman ability to understand animals, while humans are more of a mystery. Frank’s partner, Fred “Shred” Taylor (Rowland), is an optimistic rookie. They both report to Emily Price (Lovell), their sweet-natured and endearingly awkward boss. Amit Patel (Patel) and Victoria Sands (Palmer) are...

After Canceling 1 New Drama Series, Fox Renews 2 Popular Comedy Shows
Image
Two shows have been guaranteed to continue on Fox while another wasn't so lucky. Unfortunately for the latter, it's going to be a one-season run.

Per Deadline, Rescue Hi-Surf has been canceled after one season. The show, which follows Hawaiian lifeguards, wrapped up its first season on March 31. As the show was not a breakout success on the level of Doc, which was renewed for a 22-episode second season, the decision was made not to move forward with a second season.

It's an unfortunate update for fans of the show, especially as it debuted strong with a premiere that pulled in 4.7 million Live+Same Day viewers. According to the new report, there had still been consideration to renew the series, in part due to the involvement of producer John Wells. The producer's previous work includes titles like ER, The West Wing, and The Pitt. However, the series was also expensive...

'Animal Control' Has Its Fate Decided After Season 3
Image
Seattle's favorite Animal Control office won't be shutting down just yet. As expected, Fox has picked up its flagship live-action workplace comedy series starring Joel McHale for a fourth season, meaning more animal-based antics are to be had with Frank Shaw and his rag-tag team of fellow officers. The series has continued to be a hit both critically and in terms of ratings for the network, being sold to over 70 international territories and more than doubling its live + same-day ratings thanks to streaming on Hulu. It'll be back in time for the 2025-26 season, locking up Fox's comedy slate with the also-renewed Going Dutch.

Through three seasons, Animal Control has followed the jaded and cynical Frank (McHale) as he learns to embrace life as an animal control officer after being fired from the police force for trying to expose corruption in the department. Fortunately, he is almost supernaturally capable of understanding animals.

In Season 2, viewers were introduced to John Nolan’s (Nathan Fillion) half-sibling, Pete Nolan. Played by comedian Pete Davidson, the younger Nolan was quite a handful for John after he appeared on the scene following their father’s passing. The pair remained close, with the character even swinging by again for another guest spot in the fourth season, but since then, Pete hasn’t come back around — despite telling John that he’d continue to surprise him with visits.

While chatting with Collider’s Therese Lacson, The Rookie’s showrunner, Alexi Hawley,...

All The Community Paintball Episodes, Ranked From Worst To Best
Image
"Community" was always a great show, but the moment it elevated to god-tier status was when it introduced the concept of a Paintball Episode (an idea that, sadly, the "Community" movie will not revisit when/if it comes to pass). That's when an otherwise-normal sitcom suddenly has its characters start shooting at each other with paintball guns, complete with genuinely impressive action cinematography. Why doesn't every sitcom do stuff like this? Because they lack the audacity.

"Community" would do three more paintball episodes throughout its run, all of them featuring at least one moment that's so cool it'll make you forgive the show for any of its other faults. Are you mad at how the series dragged out the romance between Jeff (Joel McHale) and Annie (Alison Brie) for six seasons? Well, at least the scene where the Dean (Jim Rash) recreates the "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" elevator fight...

Scream 7 (2026)
Matthew Lillard on his Scream 7 return: “I think people are gonna love it.”
Scream 7 (2026)
Scream 7 started filming at the start of January, and we’ve seen some surprising reports about the slasher sequel as it has made its way through production – with the most surprising and strange news being that Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley, who played Ghostface killers who were killed off in Scream (1996) and Scream 3, respectively, and David Arquette, whose beloved character Dewey lost his life in Scream (2022), are all in the cast. Speaking with Coming Soon, Lillard took a moment to talk about his Scream 7 return, saying that he thinks “people are gonna love it.” Of course, he didn’t reveal any details about what he / his character Stu will be doing in the new movie.

Spyglass and Paramount once intended to make a Scream 7 that would have starred Scream (2022) and Scream VI leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, with Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon at the helm.

Fascinating Trailer for 'Tim Travers & the Time Traveler's Paradox' Film
Image
"Power core stable?" "No, we're gonna die!" An official trailer has debuted for an indie sci-fi adventure film titled Tim Travers & the Time Traveler's Paradox, from filmmaker Stimson Snead making his feature directorial debut after many other shorts. This premiered at the 2024 Cinequest Film Festival last year, and is now set for release in limited theaters on May 30th this summer. What kind of trouble will Tim get into while time traveling? The film explores the age-old question: What happens if you travel back in time and eliminate your younger self? Terminally bored mad genius Tim Travers seeks to find the answer and unravel the time traveler's paradox. The Result? A crazy comedic adventure beyond comprehension. Starring actor Samuel Dunning as Tim Travers, with Danny Trejo, Joel McHale, Keith David (as God?!), Felicia Day, and many others. This actually looks appropriately kooky and amusing and fun - nice to...

Joel McHale Welcomes You to 'The 1% Club' in New Season 2 Poster [Exclusive]
Image
Fox is less than two months away from holding the next meeting of The 1% Club, and it'll have a new host leading the proceedings. When the hit game show was picked up for a second season earlier this year, Community star Joel McHale was handed the reins in place of Patton Oswalt. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the reality television space, as well as a familiarity with Fox audiences thanks to his comedy series Animal Control, which makes him the perfect candidate to test the nation's intelligence. Ahead of the premiere this June, Collider can share the exclusive poster showing McHale embracing his new gig with a card that asks, "Who will answer correctly?"

Based on the U.K. game show of the same name, The 1% Club puts a fun twist on the typical trivia format by relying on contestants to rely on logic instead of memory.

'The Bear' Season 4 Release Date Finally Revealed
Image
Order up! After what feels like a lifetime (even though it's been less than 12 months), the fourth season of The Bear, FX's hit culinary drama, finally has a release date. Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and the rest of the staff at The Bear fine dining restaurant and sandwich shop are back for a fourth outing this year. Over the past three years, audiences have spent each June stressed out with each new season of The Bear as Carmen (White) slowly processed the death of his brother, all while desperately trying to save his new restaurant. This year will be no different, as The Bear will be back in the summer for its fourth course.

The Bear's co-showrunner, Joanna Calo, revealed the release date for Season 4 during a red carpet event for the McU's Thunderbolts* (Calo worked on the script for the upcoming Marvel film). Consistency is key in the kitchen,...

'Scream 7' Recruits Original 'Scream' Composer Marco Beltrami
Image
The Scream 7family gets bigger with some returning figures that will rekindle the flame that Wes Craven created almost 30 years ago. Marco Beltrami, the composer behind the music of the first four Scream films, has revealed that he will do Scream 7. The music veteran behind major works like A Quiet Place and Logan confirmed this on social media, and suddenly, Scream 7 just got a bit more exciting.

At first, Beltrami wasn't announced as the official composer of Scream 7. Nevertheless, a few weeks ago, a fan pleaded for him to do Scream 7 by commenting on a 2023 post on Instagram. "Please do Scream 7!" said the comment, to which Beltrami replied by saying, "Don't worry, I am." This marks Beltrami's return to the horror franchise after he wrote the score for the first Scream films, all directed by Wes Craven. In Scream (2022), Beltrami was replaced by Brian Tyler,...

'Scream 7's David Arquette Says His Character's Return Was Supposed to Be a Surprise
Image
The following article contains spoilers for the Scream franchise.Actor David Arquette, best known for playing Dewey Riley in the Screamfranchise, is set to play the iconic horror character once again in Scream 7, the next installment to be released in February 2026. It's not a secret that Dewey was killed in 2022's Scream, marking the end of his run as the brave police officer who was always there to stand against Ghostface. Therefore, the big question upon the announcement of his character's return was how Dewey would spawn back to life. The problem is that, apparently, we should never have known about Arquette's casting in the first place.

The actor is currently promoting his latest film, the corrupt cop drama Mob Cops. In a conversation with ComingSoon, Arquette talks about playing a very different kind of law enforcement agent when compared to the one he's been playing for decades in the horror franchise.

White House Correspondents’ Dinner Focuses on Awards, Journalism as Trump Snubs Comic-Free Soirée
Image
Journalism’s big night out returned on Saturday in Washington as reporters, editors and A-list celebrities mingled at the Washington Hilton at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner, an event jokingly called the “nerd prom,” in what was a more muted soirée that, for the fourth time while he has been in the Oval Office, was not attended by President Donald Trump. This year, the Whca opted to focus on the stellar journalism produced as the current administration charges into uncharted territory.

With the absence of the sitting president and the decision to nix a comic brought onstage to roast the leader of the free world — a lighthearted and often funny tradition that typically follows the meal, this year’s dinner continued the event’s downward slide in relevance as a cultural moment. Previous years have seen memorable roasts of sitting presidents and stand out moments from notable names like Joel McHale and Conan O’Brien,...
